Electrifying Belgium Stages this winter!
New Studio Album ‘Taken By Force’ is out now

“Relentless, aggressive in-your-face punk jams. Think Shame, Fontaines D.C., and IDLES, but Australian.”

On the heels of their acclaimed album, Taken By Force, released earlier this year on ATO Records, CIVIC are thrilled to bring their blistering live show to stages across the US for the FIRST TIME ever this fall. One of the most exhilarating bands to emerge in recent years, the Melbourne-based act made their name as a captivating live act defined by masterfully controlled chaos, embarking on a European tour in 2019. Their frenetic live show will serve up a vital new energy, joyfully obliterating the line between furious catharsis and unbridled fun. The tour will include stops in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Seattle and more as well as appearances at LEVITATION Festival and Gonerfest.

Hailed by Sterogum as “an unholy lo-fi pile-up of garage rock, punk, and ’90s-style noise-rock,” CIVIC have unleashed their blistering new single “Hourglass” alongside an official video today. Frontman Jim McCullough shares, “Off the back of Taken By Force we wanted to create something new, an evolution of sound for us. We’d dropped down to a 4 piece so already Lewis had more space to come through with his guitar parts, be more experimental, less chaotic; more defined. Lyrically I am touching on aspects of change, more specifically the process during change. Going through some kind of shit and sediment and coming out the other side; a hopeful development of a refined version. We start again”

Even voorstellen – Masai JR, Manneto – I am officially depressed in Antwerp about to play the lotto

I am Officially Depressed…in Antwerp … about to play the Lotto."

Pias news - Actress announces new album, ‘LXXXVIII’

ACTRESS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘LXXXVIII’ OUT 3RD NOVEMBER ON NINJA TUNE
NEW SINGLE “GAME OVER ( e 1 )” OUT NOW

Welcome to ‘LXXXVIII’ – the ninth Actress album to be created by Actress (Darren Cunningham) and the very first presentation of Actress’ voyage into luxury sonics. A lifetime in the making, ‘LXXXVIII’ is the culmination of 25 years’ honing mind-shorting, soul-igniting audio infusions for dance floors, rave dens, festivals, and concert halls.

‘LXXXVIII’ pays dividends to meditate on an instrumental facet of its creation: game theory. Indeed, deep strategic thinking – more readily associated with economics and chess than artistic practice – was fundamental to Actress’ process as ‘LXXXVIII’ was channelled into existence.

‘LXXXVIII’ includes the recent avant-garde-influenced single “Push Power ( a 1 )”, a track which laid the groundwork for the coming album, acting as the first move in an intricate chess game. With each thoughtful move the game grows and develops over time - something we can hear reflected in the textured and delicate layers of the track. "( a 1 ) - The first move" comments Cunningham. Today he shares “Game Over ( e 1 )”, a new single from the album which signals the final, closing move.

For not only does chess reflect the precise physicality of the artist’s material interactions in his studio, it also illustrates the intricate and tactical, internal and aesthetic battles which brokered ‘LXXXVIII'’’s creation. Recently Darren challenged people to play a bullet round of chess against him online, which then led the opponent to a site that hosted a trailer of the forthcoming album.

The release follows 2022’s mesmerising 'Dummy Corporation', which placed Actress firmly back in the centre of underground club culture. Prior to that his 2020 album ‘Karma & Desire’ — which saw guest collaborations from Mercury Prize winner Sampha, Zsela and Aura T-09 — was received to widespread acclaim, with The Guardian commenting the album “cements his place as one of the great poets of club culture”.

Having first premiered ‘LXXXVIII’s lead single “Push Power ( a 1 )” on the iconic IICON stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival, where he played straight after Four Tet, the album release also arrives off the back of a recent live performance at Field Day in London, one of his largest live shows this year in which he showcased ‘Grey Interiors’ - an A/V project in collaboration with experimental creative studio Actual Objects who’ve worked with the likes of ShyGirl, Kali Uchis, LSDXOXO and have presented work at Coachella and 180 The Strand’s Futureshock exhibition.

Additionally, Actress was just announced as the official support for James Blake’s upcoming UK/EU tour, which includes Alexandra Palace in London (on 28th Sept), L’Olympia in Paris, Fabrique in Milan, UFO Im Velodrom in Berlin, and Forest National Club in Brussels, and is playing alongside Autechre in Australia across selected dates later this year.

‘LXXXVIII’ will be released 3rd November on Ninja Tune, with new single “Game Over ( e 1 )” out now.

Tyla - Water (Official Audio) - YouTube

About Tyla
Tyla’s music pushes boundaries. Infused with her vibrant personality, her songs offer an innovative take on pop and R&B, shimmering with the euphoria of South African amapiano, and an otherworldly approach to production that makes every track feel like something totally new. The Johannesburg native introduced herself internationally with her debut “Getting Late” featuring Kooldrink. Her promise in the chorus—“I won’t waste your time”—took on a double meaning. Suddenly, the passionate artist whose cold DMs to music industry power players had gone unanswered was a global lightning rod for bold self-expression. “Been Thinking” and “To Last,” her new singles via Epic Records, push her artistry forward and solidify her versatility as she bounds toward her ultimate goal.
“I once thought pop music was just straight-up radio music, that catchy music—which it is—but I feel like it’s just music that everyone can relate to, dance to, sing to,” the surging singer/songwriter says. “I’d love to be that pop star, especially that type of role model for other African artists because we have amazing, huge artists, but we need more people born in Africa to take that spot. When I was younger, I obviously had the dream to be the biggest pop star, but it’s not something that happens every day for an African artist.”
Still, despite her big dreams, Tyla is doing her best to remain carefree, an approach she demonstrated on “Getting Late,” hoping for the best but not expecting anything. She never anticipated that the song would permeate beyond South Africa, much less reach the U.S., but realized something was happening when people all over the world were making TikToks to the song, eventually resulting in more than 3.8 million Spotify streams and 5.4 million YouTube views. “I would show my parents every single new TikTok,” she says.
Tyla’s parents fostered a musically rich childhood home, playing the likes of Aaliyah, Boyz II Men, Brenda Fassie, Michael Jackson, Lira and Rihanna while she did chores. She often danced with her sisters—“I was that child that wanted to be seen by everyone”—and as soon as her mother told her she could sing, she never stopped. As a child, she made up songs for Father’s Day and Mother’s Day. She was 12 when she penned songs more seriously in her diary, which led to writing and singing originals to post to Instagram as a high schooler. She messaged any and everyone who worked in music, to mostly no avail.
Before catching the attention of a manager, Tyla was “on the verge” of studying mining engineering, because of the inherent uncertainty attached to artistic pursuits. “A lot of people in my family wanted to become musicians, and it didn’t work out, so that’s all my parents knew. They didn’t want that for me, and it was obviously out of love,” she says, noting she now has her parents’ undying support. “I had to make the decision: ‘Mom and Dad, I’m so sorry, but I’m gonna go for this.’”
Rihanna, an icon who had put Barbados on the map, served as a north star for Tyla as she scrapped to find her way. Tyla knew she had that potential in her, too—to “open a window to people in Africa.”
Tyla was determined to unlock what had always been inside her. “Getting Late” was the breakthrough, and her late 2021 song “Overdue” featuring DJ Lag and Kooldrink soundtracked the second-season trailer of Netflix’s South African teen drama Blood & Water, but “Been Thinking” and “To Last” find Tyla in full control of her own story, especially the emotional “To Last.”
“Making that song made me realize that I was born for this because I wrote the hook lyrics years ago in the shower,” she says. “I was just singing random words, and all of a sudden, I started singing, ‘You never gave us a chance / It’s like you never wanted to last.’ I grabbed my phone and recorded it.”
The piano-laced, pop-leaning track was inspired by her friend’s one-sided relationship, leaving her to wonder about feeling disposable. Tyla knows her worth now. By continuing to follow her intuition, Tyla is primed to build out her fan base and maximize her reach. She’s focused on the year ahead, performing and crafting her debut studio album, with the same intention from when she began. “I can’t wait for the day I perform in front of thousands of people outside of Africa,” she says. “And I just can’t wait for people to know that I’m the girl from South Africa that has songs playing on their radios.”

Signed to Epic Records through a joint venture with Johannesburg/New York based Fax Records, and co-managed by We Make Music and Africa Creative Agency, Tyla is poised to achieve international dominance with style, soul and spirit.

Op haar vierde album “New Orders” hoor je mystieke indie-pop; ‘delicate piano-led folk, softly-soaring ghostly soul-pop and slow magical post-rock, with Tuva’s vocals floating over densely textured soundscapes’. Muzikale vergelijkingen zijn er te maken met: Julia Holter, Zola Jesus, Kate Bush, Jenny Hval, Cocteau Twins, Bjork, A.A. Williams, Jessica Sligter, Chelsea Wolfe, David Lynch, Dead Can Dance en CocoRosie.

De eerste single How Much I Love You is nu beschikbaar.

“Vroeger interesseerden songteksten me niet zo. Nu weet ik dat een goeie lyric een nummer honderd keer beter kan maken.” En kijk: hij heeft op deze derde plaat romantiek tot kunstvorm verheven. Leve de liefde? Leve de liefde!

Garifuna news - Aftrap zeventigste verjaardagtour Jan De Smet

The Bonnie Blues swingt en zingt driestemmig.

Met: Jan De Smet (zang, diverse instrumenten), The Bonnie Blues (Nele Paelinck, Laura vanden Heede, Juno Kerstens - zang, viool, accordeon, gitaar, cello, contrabas), Les Guitares Magiques (Raf Timmermans, Gijs Hollebosch, Mathias Moors - diverse snaarinstrumenten), Stoy Stoffelen (drums, percussie)

Even voorstellen - It it anita - Psychorigid single

Belgian noise rock tornado with a fearsome live reputation, It It Anita is ushering in a brand new era with “Mouche.” The quartet has transformed into a power trio, placing efficiency at the core of their art, and delivering an album of unapologetic freedom. As Michaël Goffard (vocals/guitar) emphasizes, “It’s not that we don’t care, it’s that we’re going all in!” This fourth album ventures into uncharted territory. It delves into structures of verse and chorus, juxtaposing light with aggression, adopting a Beastie Boys-like phrasing, and embracing storytelling. Here, It It Anita sings about the guilt of hungover mornings, the yes men who stop at nothing, those crypto-millionaire slackers, and even the act of staying on your feet and ready to make noise after a decade of activity.

Following John Agnello, Laurent Eyen, and Amaury Sauvé, the musicians from Liège once again pay tribute to an important figure in their circle. Important, but in an entirely different way. This new album owes its title to the adorable golden retriever featured on the cover. Fostered by Elliot Stassen (bass) for 2 years, who became the group’s mascot, Mouche is now in his forever home as an assistance dog. A true long-haired icon, whose story seems to echo the abundance of colors present in these 9 new tracks. This fulfills It It Anita’s desire to create an album that’s even more closely connected to their audience, breaking their own codes all the way through.

VINCE CLARKE - DEBUT SOLO ALBUM
IVOR NOVELLO WINNING SONGWRITER SHARES DETAILS OF HIS FIRST SOLO PROJECT
SONGS OF SILENCE - OUT 17 NOV ON MUTE

VINCE CLARKE has announced details of his debut solo album, Songs of Silence, a 10-track lyric-less album of uncategorisable ambient beauty. The album will be available on vinyl, CD and digitally via Mute on 17 November 2023, and launches today with ‘The Lamentations of Jeremiah’, the first piece of music to be shared from the project.

Listen to the track and watch the moving video - one of the first to be directed by Turkish-born NY-based portrait photographer Ebru Yildiz (Laurie Anderson, Mitski, A Place to Bury Strangers, Algiers) - which finds Clarke in a liminal space:
https://youtu.be/OQK95AtGi0U
As the Ivor Novello winning songwriter behind countless chart-topping pop songs as co-founder of Erasure, Yazoo and Depeche Mode, Clarke has - unbelievably - waited until now to embark on a solo release.

Recorded in his home studio in New York, and featuring photography and artwork by the award-winning Magnum photojournalist Eugene Richards, work on the album began as a distraction during lockdown, a chance to finally get his head around the possibilities of Eurorack, a modular synthesiser format famed for its addictive and limitless configurations. “I could have gone on forever, I could have not stopped,” explains Vince, “I was enjoying the process so much and wasn’t thinking about anyone else hearing it. But hearing it develop in my studio, in my head, learning new tricks – that’s been the best thing about this. I was in a state of shock, actually, when Mute said they wanted to release this album.”

Alone in the studio, Clarke set himself two rules: first, that the sounds he generated for the album would come solely from Eurorack, and second, that each track would be based around one note, maintaining a single key throughout. “Nobody in my household is particularly interested in what I get up to in the studio” says Vince. “Even the cat used to leave after an hour or so of listening to drones.”

The resultant album’s mood of synth-generated, cosmic remoteness is interrupted by stark interventions, reminders of the human hand at work amid this machinery – a scrambled sample like a distressed transmission from a fighter pilot, the wordless operatic contributions of Caroline Joy, the sawing brimstone of composer Reed Hays’ cello on ‘The Lamentations of Jeremiah’, and the album’s centrepiece which builds around the 1844 anti-scab folk song ‘Blackleg Miner’, glowing with resonance and relevance. Elsewhere on the album Clarke manifests relentless sequencer patterns, gradual accelerations, Moog-style drones, glistening droplets of synth, and burgeoning swells of processed guitars, with Clarke describing the tracks as “having a sense of sadness, of things going bad, things crumbling”.

Not content to rest on his considerable pop legacy, Vince Clarke has instead opened up exciting new electronic vistas for himself, and for the rest of us, in which the permutations and possibilities are limitless, Clarke declaring “The infinite shades of sounds you can create with just the tiniest tweak of a knob or slider continues to fascinate me.”
