NYC’s beloved sibling duo The Lemon Twigs announce their all new 2024 LP A Dream Is All We Know, arriving May 3rd on Captured Tracks. Following 2023’s emotionally charged Everything Harmony — which The Guardian called “totally perfect,” Questlove praised for going “full Debarge”, and The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano revealed was the source of his #1 most played song of the year — A Dream Is All We Know finds brothers Michael and Brian D’addario (24 and 26 years old) exploring upbeat, shimmering arrangements that live in an imaginary space they call Mersey Beach: the sonic bridge between Liverpool and Laurel Canyon.
Last week, The Lemon Twigs informally announced the record on Fallon with a high energy performance of the LP’s standalone single “My Golden Years”. Vibrating shimmering guitar and “serious Beach Boys vibes” (FLOOD), the power-pop anthem pays faithful homage while adding their signature Twig twist.

Their single, “They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place”, is a whimsical nod to an unrealized romantic relationship. The video, directed by Amber Navarro (Molly Lewis, Weyes Blood, Diners), features tiny versions of The Lemon Twigs running amuck, the Borrowers style, atop chirpy organsong and kaleidoscopic harmonies.
Leaving behind the nylon string-based arrangements of Everything Harmony, A Dream Is All We Know revisits the style the brothers first introduced on Do Hollywood — pairing the theatricality and glam rock of the Lennon-McCartney songbook with contemporary narratives, explosive electric guitar riffs, and the sunny harmonies and ingenious recording techniques of the Wilson family, A Dream Is All We Know shines light on the brothers acute attention to detail and multi-instrumentalist gifts.
With almost a decade of songwriting under their belt, A Dream Is All We Know clearly demonstrates the D’Addario brother’s growth from doe-eyed teenagers eager to make music reminiscent of their heroes, to young men who have shared stages with Phoenix, Bleachers, Arctic Monkeys, and their musical hero Todd Rundgren, garnered praise from Elton John, The Zombies, Gerard Way, Iggy Pop, and made a full transformation into visionary songwriters and arrangers whose oeuvre is itself a source of inspiration to other artists.

Op 5 april 2024 brengt Within Temptation hun nieuwste single ‘A Fool’s Parade' uit, een indrukwekkende samenwerking met de getalenteerde Oekraïense producer Alex Yarmak. Deze song, gekoesterd als voorbode van de langverwachte ‘Bleed Out 2024 Tour’, is een krachtige expressie van de inzet van de band om licht te blijven werpen op de voortdurende existentiële strijd die Oekraïne levert tegen de wrede invasie van Rusland.
‘A Fool’s Parade' belicht thema's zoals de veroordeling van de leugens, de schijnvertoning van Rusland met betrekking tot de oorlog en haar misdaden en intenties. Voor de opname van de bijbehorende videoclip van ‘A Fool’s Parade’ is Sharon den Adel, de frontvrouw van Within Temptation, momenteel in Kiev, Oekraïne. Daar draait zij de video in samenwerking met de bekende Oekraïense videoregisseur Indy Hait.
Met o.a. hun betrokkenheid bij initiatieven zoals stichting Ukraine Aid OPS, wil Within Temptation de aandacht blijvend vestigen op de broodnodige steun van Europa voor de strijd van Oekraïne.
Bleed Out 2024 Tour
In oktober kondigde Within Temptation een arenatour aan ter promotie van hun nieuwe album. De ‘Bleed Out 2024 Tour’ trapt af in september 2024 en brengt de band langs legendarische zalen zoals Wembley Arena in Londen (VK), Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona (ES) en Lotto Arena in Antwerpen (BE). De band start de tour met shows in 013 in Tilburg en De Oosterpoort in Groningen, en sluit af in de Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam op 6 december 2024.
Voor het concert op 4 oktober in de Lotto Arena zijn nog tickets beschikbaar. De show op 5 oktober is uitverkocht.

Les Festivals de Wallonie 2024, 'Natuur', De muzikant en zijn omgeving
‘Natuur’. Dit is het thema van de 54e editie van Les Festivals de Wallonie. Van 27 juni tot 23 oktober strijken ze neer in Brussel, Namen, Stavelot, Luik en verschillende gemeenten in Luxemburg, Waals-Brabant en Henegouwen. De natuur heeft componisten door de eeuwen heen op de meest uiteenlopende manieren geïnspireerd: de arcadische landschappen en bestiaria uit de barok, de bioakoestiek van de 21e eeuw, het romantische spektakel van de overweldigende natuurelementen, de vele tijdloze pogingen tot nabootsing... Maar het thema beslaat ook de menselijke natuur en de dierlijke kant van de mens. Les Festivals de Wallonie zetten dit brede muzikale programma in de verf met niet minder dan twee (Belgische) festivalartiesten: het oude muziekensemble Vox Luminis, dat zijn 20e verjaardag viert, en Gwendoline Blondeel, een jonge sopraan met een wervelende carrière. Het programma omvat ook een groot aantal Belgische en internationale artiesten, zoals sopraan Jodie Devos, klavecinist Justin Taylor, celliste Marie Hallynck met haar zus en harpiste Sophie Hallynck, pianisten Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Eliane Reyes, Julien Libeer en Florian Noack, violist Tobias Feldman en een hele reeks gerenommeerde ensembles en orkesten.
Het DNA van de Festivals de Wallonie
De federatie Festivals de Wallonie werd in 1971 opgericht door de vereniging van de festivals van Stavelot, Luik, Saint-Hubert, Namen en Henegouwen (het oudste festival dateert van 1957). In 2011 werd de federatie uitgebreid met het Musiq3 Festival in Brussel. In 2019 lanceerde de Franstalige klassieke radiozender een gelijknamig festival voor Waals-Brabant.

MYRKUR + JONATHAN HULTÉN
Onder de artiestennaam Myrkur timmerde Amalie Bruun de afgelopen jaren aan een eigen pad binnen de heavy muziek. De veelzijdige artieste sprokkelde drie studioalbums, twee EP’s en een theaterscore bij elkaar. Myrkur verweeft moeiteloos Deense folk roots en black metal tot een dynamische, genre doorbrekende mengelmoes.
Waar de albums M (2015) en Mareridt (2017) black metal injecteerden met emoties die afwisselend verrukt en schrijnend waren, vond Folkesange uit 2020 zijn toevlucht in de archetypische verhalen van de Scandinavische folk, waarbij oude en nieuwe liederen werden gemengd tot een album dat het individu en het universele verbindt.
Het nieuwe album Spine begint in een herkenbare epische, Scandic-stijl. Het openingsnummer ‘Bålfærd’ is Deens voor "Vikingbegrafenis" en staat symbool voor een breuk met het verleden en de komst van iets nieuws dat oprijst de vlammen. Deze metafoor verbeeldt de geboorte van haar kind en de bijhorende emoties en zorgt voor een koerswijziging in het oeuvre van Myrkur.
Spine is een betekenisvolle titel met krachtige connotaties: groei, kracht, weerbaarheid maar ook flexibiliteit en de kern van ons wezen zit vervat in de titel. Het is wat een mens overeind houdt en ons in staat stelt om weer op te bouwen. Het album omvat dan ook al deze eigenschappen- een daad van wedergeboorte die een balans vindt tussen onze meest euforische en onze donkerste momenten.

The legendary Scottish indie-pop band Camera Obscura announces Look to the East, Look to the West, their first new album in over ten years, out May 3rd on Merge Records. The group, led by guitarist & vocalist Tracyanne Campbell, have reunited with Jari Haapalainen, who produced the band’s 2006 album Let’s Get Out of This Country and 2009’s My Maudlin Career, and have crafted an album that simultaneously recalls why longtime fans have ferociously loved them for decades while also being their most sophisticated effort to date.
Lead single “Big Love” relishes in the space between country rock and prog, a pining break-up anthem featuring the soaring pedal steel of Tim Davidson. It’s a Nashville Sound heartbreaker, tackling the complexity of wanting to rekindle a bad relationship with Campbell’s uncanny ability to render the past: “It was a big love, she said / That’s why it took ten years to get her out of her head,” she begins. “‘Big Love’ is our tribute to Waylon Jennings, with a nod to Sandy Denny and prog rock band Scope,” says Campbell. “It’s a song about not looking back, having faith in the present and future.”
Look to the East, Look to the West was the most hard-fought album of Camera Obscura’s career. Following the 2015 passing of founding keyboardist and friend Carey Lander, the band went into an extended hiatus. They remained in contact, but their status was uncertain until they announced their return, having been invited to perform as part of Belle & Sebastian’s 2019 Boaty Weekender cruise festival, along with a pair of sold-out warm-up shows in Glasgow. Donna Maciocia (keys and vocals) joined founding members Kenny McKeeve (guitar and vocals), Gavin Dunbar (bass), and Lee Thomson (drums and percussion) for those shows and has since become a regular songwriting partner of Campbell’s.
Recorded in the same room where Queen wrote “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Look to the East, Look to the West feels big, a widescreen reframing of Camera Obscura’s sound that, paradoxically, saw the band go back to basics—there are no string or brass arrangements, with more emphasis placed on piano, synthesizers, Hammond organ, and drum machines, and, perhaps most strikingly, the group have dropped the veil of reverb that characterized their previous albums. The tinges of country and soul that give Camera Obscura’s baroque take on pop music its bittersweet edge have never been more apparent—guitars shimmer into the distance, keys haunt, and Campbell’s voice searches for the heart, reflecting on love, loss, and the passage of time.
Look to the East, Look to the West is the sound of a band that has grown more confident in its sound and purpose than ever. It is Camera Obscura at their best and most evocative, an album that completely rearranges the listener’s emotional core, leaving them sad and exhilarated at the same time. FKP Scorpio concert - TV Girl speelt op 21 augustus in Lotto Arena
De Amerikaanse band TV Girl komt op woensdag 21 augustus naar Lotto Arena in Antwerpen. De cultgroep uit California is al jaren stevig aan hun carrière aan het timmeren, en dankzij TikTok zijn ze in een serieuze stroomversnelling gekomen die hen nu naar Lotto Arena voert.
TV Girl uit het zonnige San Diego bracht tien jaar geleden de plaat ‘French Exit’ uit, die bij de underground indie lovers al heel wat positieve feedback vergaarde. Op het eerste gezicht is de groep een goedgeluimd allegaartje, maar in de teksten sijpelen heel wat scherpe humor en cynische gedachten door. Hun geluid refereert aan Franse pop uit de jaren zestig, met een liefde voor elektronische samples, luchtige gitaren, dromerige zang én hip hop. Klinkt tegelijk aanstekelijk als verwarrend? Exact waar TV Girl voor gaat.
TikTok heeft de capaciteit om bands zonder airplay toch in de hitlijst de katapulteren. Zo ook met TV Girl, wiens gekke samples geluidseffecten tegenwoordig viraal gaan op het mediaplatform. Het bracht hen afgelopen zomer al in een afgeladen Club op Pukkelpop, waar het nummer ‘Lovers Rock’ gretig door menig tienerstemmen werd meegezongen. Nu is TV Girl klaar voor het grotere werk, en zo staat de Amerikaanse groep op woensdag 21 augustus 2024 in Lotto Arena in Antwerpen met ook laatste wapenfeit ‘Grapes Upon the Vine’ onder de arm.

FKP Scorpio concert - Krezip komt naar België voor clubshows in Trix en Het Depot
De Nederlandse band Krezip is helemaal terug! Na een volledig uitverkochte theatertournee bij de noorderburen zal de groep ook een clubshows spelen in Trix (Antwerpen) op zaterdag 23 november en in Het Depot (Leuven) op zaterdag 30 november 2024.
Het gaat Krezip serieus voor de wind de voorbije jaren. De band maakte in 2000 een verpletterende indruk tijdens Pinkpop met het nummer ‘I Would Stay’, dat daarna in de Lage Landen een gigahit werd. Een volledige generatie liet dan ook een traan toen in 2009 bekend werd dat Krezip er mee zou ophouden. Gelukkig duurde die ‘Sweet Goodbyes’ niet te lang, want in 2019 riep zangeres Jacqueline Govaert haar troepen bijeen en begon de band weer muziek te schrijven. De plaat ‘Sweet High’ bracht hen opnieuw naar Pinkpop, maar ook naar drie uitverkochte shows in Ziggo Dome.
Intussen heeft Krezip in Nederland alle mogelijke theaters uitverkocht dit voorjaar. Voor de nieuwe dramaserie Máxima, die binnenkort ook bij ons te zien zal zijn, schreef Krezip zeven nieuwe liedjes: voor elke aflevering eentje en ook nog eens de leader. De single ‘Attention’ komt zeer binnenkort uit en in mei volgt een album, dus dan kunnen enkele clubconcerten in België niet uitblijven. Krezip speelt op zaterdag 23 november in Trix, Antwerpen en op zaterdag 30 november in Het Depot, Leuven.

Gitarist Julien Tassin en drummer Nico Chkifi spelen als duo sinds 2021, toen de hele wereld donker werd en artiesten nieuwe manieren moesten vinden om hun creativiteit en hun interacties te ontwikkelen.
Uit deze duisternis werd het verlangen geboren om samen een muziek te spelen en te creëren die vollediggeïmproviseerd is, maar zeer song-georiënteerd.
Het duo nam hun eerste album "Song Offerings" op 13 oktober 2023 op in de beroemde Brusselse underground club "Les Ateliers Claus". Deze sessie van één middag was zeer vruchtbaar en inspirerend. De muziek werd opgenomen, gemixt en gemasterd door Christophe Albertijn.
Samen verkennen ze nieuwe muzikale territoria, muzikale dialogen gemaakt van kleuren en chaotische geluiden in dienst van een muziek op de grenzen van jazz, vrije improvisatierock, experimenteel, soundscape en noise.

Musical polymaths Khruangbin return today with the announcement of A LA SALA or "To the Room" in Spanish - the band's fourth studio album and first LP in four years out April 5th on Dead Oceans in partnership with Night Time Stories Ltd. Also out today is lead single 'A Love International' illustrating" the reflective, celebratory nature of A LA SALA with its wistful vocal flutterings underneath a propelling guitar and bass duet. After a decade spent cultivating an elusive, yet extraordinary musical path, 'A Love International' arrives as both a nostalgic and poised step forward for Khruangbin - a vista for a band posing subtle questions about the surreal nature of art's representation and one's own reality. As their own live show grows its steadfast following, with Khruangbin unveiled on the Bonnaroo and Latitude lineups already announced for 2024, the band has in turn established themselves as a ubiquitous cultural force, earning co-signs from musicians across genres and generations including Questlove, Flea, Tina Weymouth, and David Byrne, and earning countless syncs in popular television, (A Murder at the End of the World, Ramy, Barry, Outerbanks), movies (The Holdovers, Palm Springs) and major advertisements (Corona, Propel).
From the get-go, Khruangbin's journey has been emphatically its own: a sound and visual representation with few precedents, ignoring pop expectations, relying only on internal inspirations, and a multitude of visions. It's a mindset of penetrating the self, connecting to the surrounding world, modeling your own life experiences. The building blocks then for A LA SALA's 12 songs were jigsaw pieces found in Khruangbin's creative past, parts of the band not lost, but not yet tapped into. Having stockpiled ideas originally set down as off-the-cuff recordings (voice-memos made at sound-checks, on long voyages, as absentminded epiphanies), they began fitting those pieces together in the studio for A LA SALA.
Some results fold directly into A LA SALA's down-home feel. 'Three From Two' and 'May Ninth' are plaintive mid-tempo numbers, with guitar melodies that reside somewhere between Bakersfield and by-the-riverside, cues that, for all its borderless inclusivity, another core Khruangbin value is being steeped in American roots. And in the landscape that music comes from. Like all albums prior to Mordechai, Marko made sure environmental sounds - natural and man-made - appeared as textures. (At times philosophically: the group recorded while cricket chirps played in their headphones, presumably for terroir.) It's how A LA SALA achieves such interconnected set-and-setting-ness.
Other results are more metaphorical, especially in Khruangbin's flirtation with ambient spaces. The dramatically beatless 'Farolim de Felgueiras' and 'Caja de la Sala' both feature only Marko's unmistakable guitar dueting with Laura Lee's Moog, lightly layered with sounds of shoes on stone steps, and cicadas in an open field. The closing 'Les Petits Gris' more fully reduces and fleshes out the ambiance, with a piano and a simple single-note bass pattern, Marko's plaintive spare guitar echoing the melody of a ballerina-turning music box. It feels an apt way of ending - as a passing of this particular moment, preparation for the next one, soon-come.
There are seven different covers that will adorn A LA SALA's various vinyl editions available for pre-order which offer a throughline from the music into Khruangbin's current frame. Designed by the band using Marko's multitude of travelog photos, and inspired by the surrealism of Belgian artist René Magritte, there are windows from the band's living room onto a set of daydreams, scenes of impossible skies, external glances illuminating what is going on inside. These directly coincide with David Black's images of DJ, Laura Lee and Marko which accompany A LA SALA, and see the band and a window, being both the observer and the observed. A LA SALA is all about looking out and looking back, in order to better look ahead.
Over the last two years Khruangbin has remained unwavering in their musical vision, selling out shows at New York City's Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and London's Alexandra Palace. They've released five live LPs showcasing their stage prowess - featuring storied guests such as Toro y Moi, Men I Trust and Nubya Garcia - collaborated with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré honoring Vieux's late father, Ali Farka Touré, with the album Ali highlighted everywhere from The New York Times and NPR ("labyrinthine fusion of dub, blues and Malian grooves,"), to GQ who says "there's a placelessness to the band Khruangbin that, counterintuitively, gives them their gravity." That same year the band released their second collaborative EP with Leon Bridges, the sultry, chart-topping Texas Moon, which arrived to widespread acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Uproxx, Vulture, FADER while pushing the boundaries of psychedelic R&B.

April 8, 2024 – Dan Snaith aka Caribou has today returned with his first new music in two years, “Honey.” A track that fans have been eagerly awaiting, “Honey” has recently been lighting up dancefloors worldwide.
Lawijtstrijd 2024 – De kop is eraf!
SINT-NIKLAAS. Afgelopen zaterdag vond de eerste voorronde van Lawijtstrijd 2024 plaats in De Nest (Jeugdcentrum De Eglantier). Pink Mantra, Titans, Cracks en Simon Le Ma namen het tegen elkaar op. Het werd een gevarieerde voorronde in aanwezigheid van 200 kijklustige muziekfans en sympathisanten. En het ging er bij momenten zeer stevig aan toe!
Cracks en Pink Mantra, met leden uit onder meer Lokeren, Stekene en Waasmunster, wisten de jury te overtuigen om door te stoten naar de finale op zaterdag 11 mei in De Casino Concertzaal in Sint-Niklaas. In Cracks zag de jury veel potentieel gezien de jeugdige leeftijd van de bandleden die bijzonder veel kabaal veroorzaakten en De Nest tot een heuse moshpit omtoverden. Het hek ging volledig van de dam toen de energieke frontman het publiek indook tijdens hun stuivende show. Ze speelden een strakke set met catchy songs waar het enthousiasme afdroop. Pink Mantra wist te enthousiasmeren door hun samenspel, straffe backing vocals, een hoog fun(k)gehalte en de charismatische frontman die bij wijlen snedig uit de hoek kwam als Zack de la Rocha.
Cracks ging bovendien aan de haal met de publieksprijs. Hun aanwezige fans wisten maar liefst 114,7 decibels te produceren. Zij gaan alvast naar huis met tickets naar keuze voor De Casino Concertzaal.
De jury bestond naast leden van de diverse partners ook uit Isaac Roux, voormalig winnaar van o.a. De Nieuwe Lichting en de publieksprijs van Humo’s Rock Rally.
Zaterdag 13 april om 20 uur vindt de tweede voorronde van LAWIJTSTRIJD ’24 plaats in Jeugdhuis Okapi in Lokeren waar Dammit, Ide Snake, Mellecrack en Vision het tegen elkaar zullen opnemen.
