Happiness and Butterflies, in both its original form and the extended Oyster Version, is Adja's inventive and playful twist on D'Angelo's Devil's Pie. With the same eerie-funky sense of surrendering to a volatile future, she reflects on the pressures of late-stage capitalism and her own desire to remain in denial, offering a sharp critique not only of herself but also the system she is trying to succeed in.

Rooted in the introspective 90s neo-soul that has long inspired her, the track is carried throughout by irresistible grooves and rich, textured instrumentation. The Oyster Version builds on this foundation, embracing Adja's love for stripped-back jazz and expanding the song into a broader, more hopeful, though never naïve, perspective. This version positions Adja as an artist who effortlessly blends genres without compromising on intensity or nuance.

Happiness and Butterflies [Oyster Version] is out today on all major streaming platforms. Adja will perform at ESNS in Groningen, NL on January 16.

ADJA
Adja is a Brussels-based singer, composer and theater maker whose work blends intimate storytelling with a soulful, genre-fluid sound rooted in jazz, R&B, soul and gospel. With a warm, earthy voice and a sharp sense of humor, she turns everyday experiences into emotionally resonant songs that feel both grounded and transcendent.

Inspired by artists like D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Joni Mitchell, Adja crafts a rich, organic sound that is delicate when needed, yet deeply expressive. She won Belgium's Sound Track competition in 2022 and released her acclaimed debut EP IRONEYE via Sdban Ultra, garnering international praise and over 3 million Spotify streams.

In 2024, she was selected for IMPALA's 100 Artists to Watch (in partnership with YouTube) and performed at the Belgian Royal Palace. Her 2025 debut album Golden Retrieve Her, recorded with renowned UK soul producer Adam Scrimshire, marks a major step forward, alongside a guest appearance on BBC Radio 2 (Jamie Cullum), a Spotify EQUAL ambassadorship, and extensive touring across Europe. In 2026, Adja will perform at ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) and the Jazz Café, London.

Kicking off the new year with a brand new single from The Hickey Underworld. "Keep" floats like an untethered reinvention of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, reshaped through a scratched DIY lens. The track drifts in slow motion, as if suspended in open space with gravity switched off. Its melodies and words circle patiently, holding the tension of waiting for something or someone who may or may not return. The Hickey underworld are pessimists, so probably not.

Last November legendary Humo's Rock Rally Winners Younes Faltakh (vocals, guitar), Jonas Govaerts (guitar), Yorgos Tsakiridis (bas) and Jimmy Wouters (drums) announced that return of The Hickey Underworld in its original formation. 17 years after their self-titled debut album, they will release their fourth studio album "Cold Sun'", set for release on 13 March via V2 Records.

For the cover of Cold Sun, The Hickey Underworld collaborated with Polish artist Aleksandra Waliszewska, who counts Nick Cave among her admirers. After listening to a few rough mixes — "It reminded me of the kind of music I used to listen to in my youth" — Waliszewska invited the band to select three of her surreal paintings. That, however, came with one condition: "I wouldn't want to accept cash; instead, I would make a list of brushes, or possibly paints, that you could buy for me in exchange."

Stay tuned because on 19 January The Hickey will premier the video clip for "Keep". The video is directed by the Canadian production company "State of Poison", who specialises in music video's. After hearing the advance single "Euromancer," State of Poison reached out to The Hickey Underworld themselves: "Heard your music come up on our 'suggested' and were blown away! It would be sick to do a music video for you."

Inspired by classic animated films such as The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) and Moonbird (1959), the directing duo opted for a blend of stop-motion, paper cut-outs, and traditional cel animation. This handcrafted aesthetic dovetails perfectly with the fragile "Keep," the moment of calm on Cold Sun.

The band also announced several live dates, starting with a release show in Trix on 27th March.

Na een wervelende festivalzomer en uitverkochte zaalconcerten in De Roma en de AB, is het Das Pop-vuur in alle hevigheid opgeflakkerd. In Zweden werd de afgelopen maanden in de niet minder dan hete studiosauna van bassist Niek Meul hard gesleuteld aan nieuwe songs, waarvan het resultaat de komende weken en maanden op de wereld wordt losgelaten.

De basis voor gloednieuwe single Slow Motion Soul, een uitgesponnen droompop-ballas met een explosief einde, vonden Niek en Bent op een oude cassette uit 2002. Ze besloten een ongebruikte flard uit de song te gebruiken als aanmaakhout voor de wit-hete vlam die Slow Motion Soul geworden is en bouwden zo een brug die decennia overspant.

Maar ook het podium roept weer! Geïnspireerd door de wilde live-energie van de concerten en hun diepgravende liefde voor de popgesschiedenis, tasten Niek en Bent nog steeds de grenzen af van wat popmuziek kan en moet zijn. Die liefde wordt komende lente gevierd in een dampende hoogmis aan de pop. Een herboren en uitstekend gerodeerd Das Pop staat, gewapend met gloednieuwe songs en luid meezingbare hits uit legendarische Belpop-platen als I Love, Das Pop of The Game, trillend als een uigehongerde hond in de startblokken. Oh ja, er zullen ook t-shirts zijn.

To fix a heart with words is een nummer over je erbij neerleggen dat niet al je dromen ook werkelijkheid zullen worden, en dat dat helemaal oké is. Het is belangrijk om te dromen, maar even belangrijk om het waardevolle om je heen op tijd te herkennen. Jonas schreef dit nummer na een gesprek met zijn vierjarige petekindje. I fear the feeling that I do belong somewhere, and that somewhere could be here someday, klinkt het refrein. Het is een van de belangrijkste lessen van opgroeien: dat de plaats waarnaar je verlangt, misschien wel is waar het leven je ongemerkt al heen heeft gebracht. To fix a heart with words is een nummer over thuiskomen in jezelf en leren tevreden zijn met wat je hebt.

Home is just a state of mind komt op 30 januari uit bij Wellington Records. Het is een coming of age album dat terugkijkt op de woelige periode tussen je twintigste en dertigste. In het album keert momoyo terug naar de kern: een pure sound, live en dicht bij henzelf. De meestongenadig persoonlijke en ongedwongen muziek die ze tot dusver hebben gemaakt.

momoyo is de Gentse band rond Esther Coorevits (Tourist LeMC, Jan Verstraeten), Jonas Bruyneel (Vincent Coomans, Philemon), Frie Mechele, Renaud Debruyne (Mirek Coutigny, Mergel) en Sven Sabbe (Galine). Het vijftal verraste in 2020 met een debuut-ep die airplay kreeg op Radio 1 en Studio Brussel. In 2022 volgde het debuutalbum Gaps in time en toerde momoyo door België, Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Begin 2025 herwerkte momoyo enkele nummers in de intieme EP Mirror Session. momoyo ontving lovende pers in binnen- en buitenland en werd meer dan anderhalf miljoen keer gestreamd.

Simon Le Ma is het artistieke geesteskind van Simon Martens (°1996), een Gents-Beverse zanger, gitarist en bassist. New Religion is de start van een nieuw hoofdstuk binnen Simons muzikale bijbel. Met zijn nieuwe single ontpopt hij zich van conceptuele songschrijver tot hyperactieve leider van een funky kerkdienst.


In 2023 zat Simon zonder band, zonder goesting en zonder lief. Op een druilerige zondag spuwde hij impulsief een nummer uit zijn ziel, wat uiteindelijk tot twee tragikomische albums leidde: The Housewarming LP (2023) en Train Of Thought (2024).

Nu Le Ma zijn leven stilaan terug op orde heeft, zoekt hij zijn heil in een nieuw geloof: het derde album wordt een dansbaar plaatje dat stinkt naar funk, Motown en oudeventenzweet. Opgehitst door snedige blazers, korrelige drums, stuwende Jamerson-baslijnen en nostalgische strijkers, zweet Le Ma de twijfel en de wanhoop uit zijn lijf.

In New Religion fileert Simon de penibele staat van de wereld. Om vervolgens vakkundig alle doem van zich af te werpen met zomerse blazers en dito vocals van Anly Lippens (Safran) en Pauline Declercq. Lichtvoetigheid als copingmechanisme, sweet Jesus!

New Religion is de eerste single van de aanstaande plaat Get Sweaty (release in september 2026 in eigen beheer). De single werd opgenomen en gemixt door Xavier De Clercq in zijn Poolside Studio (Jerry Spin, Ciska Ciska, Pingpongclub) en gemasterd door Jimmy Van Rietvelde (Tiny Voices Studio).

Bonnie "Prince" Billy – the persona/stage-name of musician Will Oldham - will release a new studio record titled We Are Together Again on March 6th via Domino/No Quarter. The follow-up to The Purple Bird, Oldham began working on this set before his Nashville-sojourn to record that album, and picked them up again last spring, taking these 10 songs into End of an Ear Studios in Louisville with his current tour mates Jacob Duncan (flute and saxophone) and Thomas Deakin (clarinet, whistle, baritone electric guitar, accordion, cornet), along with Ryder McNair, Chris Bush, Ned Oldham and Erin Hill.

Oldham notes: "This record was made closer to the Ohio River than any I've been involved with since 1993's Palace Brothers There Is No-One What Will Take Care of You. Louisville's current-and-past vital musical community is highlighted on every song.  Catherine Irwin, who sang on the BPB release Ease Down the Road, is back here on "Hey Little" and "Vietnam Sunshine".  Lacey Guthrie, Tory Fisher and Katie Peabody, the three front women of the band Duchess, sing together on the opening and closing songs, parallel odes to the beast that is fear."

However dimly we perceive it, we are living through a change of worlds. The one we were born into is slipping away, reshaped and denuded by human action. What remains is the question of what we will carry forward, and how we will refuse to surrender ourselves. We Are Together Again feels like an answer. In Oldham's songs - and in the circle of others gathered beneath the name Bonnie "Prince" Billy - friendship, community, and the stubborn joy of making art with others become a means of persistence. This isn't a denial of collapse, which would be delusion, but a kind of defiance: remaining fully human, fully joyful, in a world with a diminishing horizon.*

Jim Marlowe engineered the album sessions and co-produced it with Oldham. The first track to be shared from the record is "They Keep Trying To Find You" alongside a video produced by Jake Forman and choreographed and directed by Abi Elliott.

We Are Together Again doesn't resolve fear; it meets it with harmony. It's a record about the stubborn miracle of community, and about how, so long as there are voices asking together, the asking itself becomes hope.

Oldham's 2025 release The Purple Bird was an album of the year at MOJO, Uncut and Aquarium Drunkard while The Times called it, "a superb, warm, involving work."

Alongside the album announcement, a London outstore at St Giles' Church in Camberwell has been announced for later this month.
