My Morning Jacket is beginning the new year with the announcement of their eagerly awaited new album, is, arriving via ATO Records on Friday, March 21.
Produced by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), is – which marks My Morning Jacket's 10th studio album and first full-length new collection in more than three years – is heralded by today's premiere of the ravishing lead single, "Time Waited," available everywhere now. An official music video directed by Danny Clinch, featuring new performance footage interspersed with archival photos from throughout the band's history, is streaming now on YouTube. A love song for the ages, imbued with equal parts wide-eyed romanticism and wistful recognition of love's intrinsic fragility, "Time Waited" emerged from a sample of a spellbinding piano part lifted from pedal-steel virtuoso Buddy Emmons' lost classic album, Emmons Guitar Inc.
"I made a loop of that piano intro and listened as I went for a walk, and all these melodies started coming to me," says My Morning Jacket vocalist/guitarist Jim James. "For a long time, I didn't have lyrics, but then I had a dream where I was in a café and a song was playing, and the lyrics to that song became the lyrics to 'Time Waited' – the melodies just fit perfectly. And the lyrics are about how flexible time is, how we can bend and warp time, especially if we are following our hearts, the universe and time itself can flow to work with us."
For more than 25 years, My Morning Jacket have achieved an incredibly rare feat in the world of rock 'n' roll – upholding a long-established cultural legacy while sustaining all the curiosity and creative hunger of their very earliest days. In a monumental step for the Louisville, KY-bred five-piece – vocalist/guitarist Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, guitarist Carl Broemel, drummer Patrick Hallahan, keyboardist Bo Koster – is once again expands the limits of their sound and elevates their artistry to unprecedented heights. The result is perhaps the most masterfully realized work yet from a band fully committed to their belief in music as a conduit for revelation of all kinds.
Largely recorded at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, is finds My Morning Jacket deviating from their typically self-produced approach by teaming up with multiple GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O'Brien, one of the most esteemed producers in rock music, known for his extensive work with Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam. For James – who has produced or co-produced all of the band's studio albums since their 1999 debut The Tennessee Fire – the decision to work with O'Brien stemmed from a newfound willingness to open up their process and involve an outside creative force in shaping My Morning Jacket's restlessly inventive yet nuanced form of psych-rock.
"Up until now I've never been able to let go and allow someone else to steer the ship," James says. "It almost felt like an out-of-body experience to step back and give control over to someone who's far more accomplished and made so many more records than us, but in the end I was able to enjoy the process maybe more than I ever have before."
Prior to joining O'Brien in the studio, My Morning Jacket got together for two highly exploratory writing and recording sessions, amassing over a hundred demos before settling upon the 10 eclectic tracks that eventually comprise the finished album. New songs such as the sprawling, album-opening epic, "Out In The Open" and the delightfully warped "Squid Ink" reveal a band whose voracious creative appetite is wholly matched by a deft command of their visionary musicality. When it came time to name the collection, My Morning Jacket chose a title that speaks to the infinitely unpredictable nature of music-making.
"I like how the word is indicates a sense of presence in the now – there's no logic or rationale behind this record; it just is," says James. "All these songs came into existence out of an attempt to connect with something beyond the human experiment, which for me is one of the most beautiful things about music – that connection with something larger than us, yet something we are all equally a part of."

James points to the "undeniable force of loving" as the most essential factor in the band's longevity and unending enchantment with the process of musical creation.
"One of the cool things about being around this long is that we're not afraid to scrap something if we don't absolutely love it," he says.
"It feels really great to have a collection of songs we all love this much, and to know that we worked as hard as we possibly could on them. Hopefully those songs will be helpful to people and give them some kind of peace as they try to deal with the insanity of the world – because that's what music does for me, and doing the same for others is always my greatest dream come true."
Widely regarded among the greatest live acts in music, My Morning Jacket will celebrate is with an extensive tour schedule to be announced soon. Meanwhile, the band is currently readying the next edition of My Morning Jacket's One Big Holiday, a three-night music vacation set for April 3-5 at Miramar Beach, FL's Seascape Resort. Op 30 januari (gedichtendag) verschijnt het album 'Donker je wolken' van Riviertijd . Het album omvat 13 gedichten van Geert-Jan Beeckman bij evenveel foto's van Eddy Verloes die op muziek werden gezet door singer-songwriters Bart Bekker en Jan Vanwinckel, die voorheen opereerden onder de naam 'The river curls around the town'.
'Donker je wolken' is het vijfde album van de Tiense singer-songwriters Bart Bekker en Jan Vanwinckel. Onder de naam 'The river curls around the town' brachten ze eerder al vier Engelstalige albums en één EP uit: More than a break (2008), Nightshadows en de EP (s)park(l)ing (2020), Buiten zinnen / Losing our minds (2021) en Crashes and crushes (2023). Alle albums kregen steevast bijzonder goede recensies. De band kiest voortaan volop voor het Nederlands en doet dat onder een nieuwe naam: 'Riviertijd'. Initieel werd er geopteerd voor de logische naam 'De Rivier', maar die bleek al bezet. De naam Riviertijd wordt ontleend aan het Engelse begrip 'river time' waarbij het lijkt dat aan de oever van een rivier, de tijd langzamer gaat.
Voor het boek met bijhorende CD album 'Buiten zinnen / Losing our minds' (uitgegeven door Poëziecentrum) zetten ze al eens gedichten van schrijver / dichter Benno Barnard op muziek. Die schreef deze gedichten bij foto's van fotograaf Eddy Verloes die o.a. met deze fotoreeks internationaal veelvuldig bekroond werd. Het resultaat werd in recensies met superlatieven overladen. Daarop volgde in 2022 en 2023 een tournee langs de Vlaamse Culturele Centra. Voor het album 'Donker je wolken' gingen ze opnieuw een samenwerking aan met Eddy Verloes. De gedichten bij de geselecteerde foto's zijn van de hand van dichter Geert-Jan Beeckman (winnaar van de Herman de Coninckprijs in 2008 en auteur van 6 dichtbundels). Bart en Jan zetten de woorden en beelden om in muziek. Een conceptplaat dus…
Dat het album verschijnt op gedichtendag (30 januari 2025) is dan ook een bewuste keuze. Muzikaal sluit het album mooi aan bij de vier voorgaande albums. De muziekstijl van het duo valt het best te omschrijven als een elegante en mysterieuze mix van elektronica en luisterpop, ingetogen en groovy tegelijkertijd. Voor een aantal nummers (3, 6, 9 en 12) deden ze beroep op de warme stem van Luc Lambrecht.
De muzikale invloeden van het project zijn nauwelijks gewijzigd. Denk aan Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Low, Hood, The Low Frequency In Stereo, At The Close Of Every Day, California Guitar Trio… Meng dit met een portie hedendaagse kleinkunst en je krijgt een eigen herkenbaar geluid dat op z'n zachtst gezegd origineel mag genoemd worden.
De muziek werd opgenomen in homestudio's 'at the attic' en 'the brewery' en gemasterd door Jan Vervloet. De fysieke CD is verkrijgbaar via de groepsleden en de website www.riviertijd.be . Voor elke track werd er een tekstvideo aangemaakt (te bekijken via Youtube).
Bart en Jan vormen eveneens de spilfiguren van de rockband Gudinöv én ze zijn de drijvende kracht achter het project Spiegelklanken waarbij ze muziek maken met patiënten en deelnemers van zorgorganisaties met als doel om stigma en vooroordelen rond mensen met zorgbehoeften te doorbreken. Ondertussen wordt er volop geschreven aan een volledig eigen Nederlandstalig album.

FKA twigs gaf ons in oktober een stevige muzikale uppercut met 'Perfect Strangers', de tweede single van haar nieuwe album 'Eusexua' dat op 24 januari verschijnt. Vandaag kondigt ze een exclusieve reeks live data aan, met daarbij een langverwachte passage in Brussel. FKA twigs staat op zaterdag 15 maart op het podium van Les Halles de Schaerbeek voor wat nu al één van dé concerten van het jaar belooft te worden.
Tahliah Debrett Barnett aka FKA twigs is een deconstructivistische, multidisciplinaire, avant-gardistische artieste en icoon, die graag breekt met vooropgestelde regels en de grenzen van de kunst verlegt. De Britse zangeres zette de muziekwereld in 2014 op haar kop met debuutalbum LP1. Tien fantastische nummers, waaronder megahit "Two Weeks", gekneed en gebroed in haar eigen universum die een breed publiek kon verleiden. In 2019 verschijnt opvolger "Magdalene" met single 'Cellophane', geproducet door Nicolas Jaar, en in 2022 volgt 'Caprisong' een mixtape met prestigieuze guest performances zoals Jorja Smith, The Weeknd en Shygirl. Een ongezien charisma, rauwe lichaamsbouw, een hypnotiserende stem en bovenal een onmiskenbaar talent voor het afleveren van verbluffende en baanbrekende muziek. The winners of the Music Moves Europe Awards 2025 are revealed, celebrating the extraordinary musical diversity within Europe. Out of 15 nominees from all over Europe, 6 winners were awarded with 7 awards during the annual ceremony at ESNS festival in Groningen, The Netherlands on January 16.

Sdban records news - Ciao Kennedy announces debut album 'Solarium', new single 'Nothing' out now

Following the release of EP's 'Keldercave' (2021) and the 'the problem is' (2022), as well as being featured on the compilation Lefto presents Jazz Cats Vol. 3'in spring of 2024, it was only a matter of time for the Brussels-based Ciao Kennedy to reappear on the music circuit.
Their new single 'Nothing', out on all platforms today, marks the beginning of a new chapter, not only musically — a very delicate, but heavy sound — but also through their partnership with the Belgian label Sdban Ultra for their debut album 'Solarium', expected for release in March 2025.
Nothing
Ciao Kennedy chose to go with 'Nothing' as the first track as it reflects the complete idea of the sound they have been working on over the past two years. Mixing modern electronics with nostalgic post-rock guitars, thriving on hypnotic rhythms and lush textures, crafting and layering instruments into soundscapes.
This first single is surely a tantalizing glimpse into the forthcoming album 'Solarium', which the band will present in their hometown of Brussels, playing the beautiful museum of venue Botanique on the 17th of April.

With Solarium, Ciao Kennedy's debut album set to be released under the Sdban Ultra label, the band have found a course and common denominator in guitars drenched with post-rock effects, steered by hypnotic electronic beats, creating an atmosphere of rare, dense melancholy, peppered with a sound that belongs in a blockbuster sci-fi movie.
Solarium is due for release on 21 March 2025 via Sdban Ultra.

Born from a childhood friendship, the five members of Ciao Kennedy have crafted their own sound and feeling after exploring a variety of different musical horizons. As part of the Magma collective, alongside groups like TUKAN and ECHT!, they started to stand out with their instrumental music merging the playfulness of jazz, the repetitive facets of post-rock, and the overtly grand electronic sound evident in what is nowadays described through the grapevine as the 'Brussels sound'.

In 2021, Gaëtan Vandewoude and his band, Isbells, decided to create their new album together from the very beginning. They worked in an intimate studio in Lommel, where they laid the foundations for new songs through jam sessions. These sessions resulted in raw demos and new ideas with promising potential. After these sessions, Gaëtan retreated to his own studio to further develop and refine these ideas.
Although the creative process with the band members was running smoothly, Gaëtan suddenly hit a creative block. As a perfectionist artist who is used to controlling every detail himself, he found it difficult to let go. During a candid conversation with band member and best friend Chantal Acda, he shared his concerns. Then something happened that changed the dynamics of the project: Gaëtan asked her to take on the role of producer. This would mark the first time he wasn't the producer of his own album.
Acda delved deeply into the original demos but soon brought her own vision and approach into play. Her unique style and keen instincts allowed the music to evolve in an organic and authentic way. The initial ideas for further developing the music led to the use of instruments that went beyond the band's usual lineup. Piano, strings, double bass, clarinet, and alto saxophone added a warm, acoustic sound to the music. As producer, Acda brought in musicians with whom Vandewoude had not previously worked.
The result of these new collaborations is a free and spontaneous album that tells stories as they emerge in the moment, with Vandewoude and the other musicians instinctively sensing and inspiring one another. Free and adventurous, with a deep mutual understanding, this album reflects the meeting of free spirits who understand each other without words. Berg je plannen voor 2025 maar weer op, aldus Steven H in zijn nieuwe single ‘Plannen plannen plannen’
Zit je vol plannen voor het nieuwe jaar? Berg ze dan maar weer op, want je weet dat je toch geen tijd en fut gaat hebben om ze in de praktijk te brengen ... Dat is de boodschap die de Gentse rapper met West-Vlaamse roots Steven H brengt in zijn nieuwste single en videoclip ‘Plannen plannen plannen’.
Veel plannen, weinig tijd …
Net als iedereen zit Steven H vol plannen – niet alleen muzikaal, maar ook op persoonlijk vlak. Ideeën genoeg voor onder meer een driedubbel conceptalbum, een kerstsingle en samenwerkingen met die en die, maar vind maar eens de tijd om dat allemaal te realiseren als je ook nog een ‘gewone’ job en een gezin hebt …
Toch slaagde Steven erin om tussen de bedrijven door toch alvast een nieuwe single en videoclip te maken – zijn vijfde na de compilatie ‘Zijn allergrootste successen’ uit 2023. Zoals we van Steven H gewoon zijn, blijft hij ook nu weer ver van de traditionele hiphopsound, maar mixt hij invloeden uit rock, postpunk en synthpop door het nummer. Het resultaat? Een song die op het eerste gehoor bedrieglijk simpel klinkt, maar met een refrein dat zich na anderhalve luisterbeurt al in je hersenen grift.
De videoclip werd grotendeels opgenomen op een zonnige middag aan de Nieuwe Dokken in Gent. De lunchpauze van cameraman Pieter Heyman volstond om de dronebeelden te schieten. Kwestie van planning zeker?

20 jaar Steven H
In 2005 liet Steven H voor het eerst van zich horen met het demo-album ‘’k Had ui pertank gezeid’ en deed hij zijn eerste optredens als solo-artiest. Dat betekent dat hij dit jaar, drie EP’s en twee albums later, exact 20 jaar actief is. Dit jubileum gaat niet gepaard met een groots opgezet event of een speciale release. Tegendraads als hij is, kregen we die in 2023 al met de compilatie-cd ‘Zijn allergrootste successen’.
Wel is Steven H vastberaden om door te gaan met muziek uitbrengen en optreden. Steven: “Ik heb het al in verschillende interviews gezegd, maar als het praktisch mogelijk blijft, ga ik door tot na mijn zeventigste. Vaak wordt gezegd dat een artiest moet stoppen voor het gênant wordt, maar ik wil gerust doorgaan tot vér daarna. Jullie hebben het laatste van mij nog niet gehoord!”
Of ‘Plannen plannen plannen’ en de vier voorgaande losse singles uiteindelijk ook zullen resulteren in een derde full album, is momenteel nog niet duidelijk. Zodra dat plan concreet wordt, zullen jullie het als eerste horen.
