Dit indierockband trio komt uit Middelburg, Nederland, maar alle drie wonen ze in Antwerpen, waar ze hun eigen studio hebben (letterlijk aan de achterdeur van De Roma): Studio Mugshot.
PEER stond al op menig groot festival, won tal van competities en kreeg lovende kritieken. Het verhaal van PEER start in 2014 met het winnen van de Buma Music Academy Award en diverse regionale wedstrijden. In 2015 brengt PEER voor het eerst muziek uit.
Na de release van hun debuut EP kreeg PEER veel aandacht op nationale Nederlandse radio en aansluitend volgde een tournee door hun thuisland en in de UK en Azië. Bij de release van hun debuutalbum, trapte de band hun Nederlandse clubtour af en stonden ze o.a. in een uitverkochte bovenzaal van de Paradiso in Amsterdam.
In de loop der jaren stond PEER al honderden keren live op een podium (klik hier voor een volledig overzicht) en in 2018 volgden de eerste festivals in België.
In 2023 volgde de EP ‘WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN’ en deze mocht op veel positieve reacties & airplay rekenen. Deze EP zorgde voor een verdere uitbreiding van hun toegewijde fanbase.
Sinds vorig jaar vindt PEER onderdak bij Live Nation voor de shows in ons land.

Het afgelopen jaar stond PEER in de Antwerpse KAVKA op het 'KAVKA 20 YEARS'-festival en mochten ze meerdere keren openen voor Pommelien Thijs: in Het Depot te Leuven, de Vooruit te Gent en drie keer (3x 4000 man!) in Waregem Expo, waar duizenden mensen uit hun dak gingen tijdens de show van PEER.
Donderdag 13 maart keert PEER terug naar de KAVKA, maar deze keer voor hun eigen headline show.
- Mini, Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton, FILA -
Nummers van PEER werden wereldwijd gebruikt in auto commercials voor Mini en Mercedes met in de hoofdrol veelvoudig formule 1 kampioen Lewis Hamilton. Tevens verschenen er twee nummers in een Japanse Netflix-serie én werd een nummer gebruikt in een internationale commercial van sportmerk FILA.

Throwing Muses release their new album, ‘Moonlight Concessions’, on 14th March 2025 via Fire Records. The album follows their acclaimed ‘Sun Racket’ from 2020, a heady set filled with tough and tender tales spiked with surreal imagery. New album 'Moonlight Concessions' is released alongside the deviously titled, ‘Moonlight Confessions’, a companion record exclusively available with Rough Trade.
                                          
Produced by Kristin Hersh at Steve Rizzo's Stable Sound Studio in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, ‘Moonlight Concessions’ goes back to basics, a return for Throwing Muses to their esoteric off-kilter best courtesy of Kristin’s pin-sharp sketches and their suitably abrasive musical arrangements.
‘Moonlight Concessions’ is a collection of snippets from everyday life writ large - think Raymond Carver Short Cuts, overheard conversations, recounted happenings and telling one-liners, all sewed together to illustrate the times as they slowly mature, fully peppered with original Muses’ vim and vigour.
New single, and album opener, ‘Summer Of Love’ began as a bet with a guy for a dollar that revolved around the idea that the seasons don’t change us. It’s a haunting baroque overture, bowed and brooding.
“He said we aren’t just planted here, stagnant, we’re in flux, responding to love like octopuses moving across the ocean floor. Turns out he was right, and I still owe him a buck.”
Written in the differing South Coast environs of The Gulf Of Mexico and Southern California, ‘Moonlight Concessions’ pulls from the star clusters that light both generating optimism and hope in varying degrees.

“New Orleans, the stars look greenish-blue, as it’s below sea level and swamp-lit. But on Moonlight Beach, they glow icy white. All these songs were written in these two glowy places, which helped our sonic technique find itself.”

Elsewhere xenophobes with shotguns prowl, an albatross flutters and is mistaken for a seagull and a homeless dude with a Spiderman mask raises a toast; perfect conditions for a band whose debut album from 1986 was retrospectively recognised by Pitchfork as“idiosyncratic and uncopiable”. Thankfully this glorious return to form ensures that nothing much has changed, from the DIY ethics of their early days.

“Our ‘Moonlight Concessions’ are still lighting the way. Not real spectacularly, nothing bright like a spotlight, just a glowing, helping each other home.”

Stadlander, de band rond de Gentse jazzpianist Stijn Engels, brengt op 14 februari hun tweede album 'Shelter' uit. Stijn liet zich inspireren door de overweldigende kracht van de natuur. De natuur als plek om te ontprikkelen, te herbronnen en nieuwe inspiratie te vinden. Met hun plaat 'Shelter' probeert Stadlander deze zoektocht naar innerlijke rust tastbaar te maken en te vertalen in hun muziek. Verhalende melodieën en beklijvende harmonie vormen nog steeds het vertrouwde recept. Het is muziek die naar introspectie voert, maar ook het leven wil doen vieren. Muziek die je aandacht opeist, betrokkenheid vraagt, maar je onbezwaard achterlaat.

Destroyer announces Dan’s Boogie, out March 28, 2025, on Merge Records. Accompanying the announcement is a David Galloway–directed music video for lead single “Bologna (feat. Fiver).”

“Bologna” is a radical reframing of the Destroyer milieu, the first song Bejar’s ever written for the band in which he imagines himself as a supporting character. He functions like behind-the-scenes commentary on the song’s main action, trapped in the dingy green room on the cover of Dan’s Boogie, while Fiver’s Simone Schmidt operates like a person on the lam, here one minute and gone the next. Schmidt’s voice, tough and expressive, pierces through the murk of the scene, its gravity pulling “Bologna” into order around a sense of impending doom.

Dan Bejar on “Bologna”:
I haven’t written many songs like “Bologna.” I struggled singing the first and third verses, the most important parts of the song. They needed gravity and grit. The threat of disappearing needed to be real. So I called Simone.
The video for “Bologna” meets the song’s cool tones with the panicked frenzy of first-person footage on a long-lost VHS tape, its narrative lurid and incriminating. As director David Galloway explains:
How do you begin a “Dear John” letter? I suppose there are lots of online tools available to anyone with a phone that can help you get that type of thing started. In fact, you can learn all kinds of stuff with the internet. It’s amazing. How to pick locks, how to access your neighbours’ WiFi, how to meet a “challenge,” how to put on makeup. Makeup is pretty big these days, hey? You can also definitely find tips and tricks to help you start a whole new life if the one you have doesn’t seem to cut the mustard. Rather, “Bologna.”
Dan’s Boogie is a breakthrough album for Destroyer, with songs across the vast spectrum he and his collaborators have established for themselves: spectacle-laden pop epics, personal piano ballads, and smouldering works of mood that blur the lines between song and novel and cinema, each brimming with the urgency of a state secret in the mind of a tortured spy.

Son Lux, the band of composers enlisted to score 2023’s genre-defying Best Picture, Everything Everywhere All At Once, is back with their first release of new music since their prismatic 49-track soundtrack. Risk Of Make Believe (out January 17th, 2025) is a new EP that encapsulates what made the experimental rock trio a perfect fit for the film: an unlikely alchemy of beguiling sounds and heart-on-sleeve passion. It is further evidence of Son Lux's wild creativity, voracious appetite for experimentation, and ability to distill seemingly disparate universes of sound into a signature unmistakably their own.


Patience and ease pervade the EP’s title track, “Risk Of Make Believe.” The song begins with what sounds like drums through a vocoder up in the choir loft. Ian Chang and Rafiq Bhatia join with a precise but pliant groove, drums and bass moving together as if in slow motion. What unfolds is an unhurried song that never feels restless in its gradual evolution. Ryan Lott sings, “What’s the risk of make believe?” weaving a plea to give oneself permission to change through tessellations of crystallizing guitar.

“Don’t Say It’s Too Late,” the EP’s second single (December 5th, 204), features Grammy Award-winning arranger and string player Rob Moose (Bon Iver, Paul Simon, John Legend, yMusic). The interplay between Lott’s voice, electronics, and strings creates a sweeping winter ballad balancing longing and loss, precariously reaching for the hope of reconciliation.

More traditional tracks give way to a pair of slowly unfurling songs on the meditative back half of the EP. Fans of the band will recognize the minimal, repeated refrains as a return to Son Lux’s roots. “Cocoon” holds space for metamorphosis over seven minutes, its spare, cyclical form belying a steady, relentless revolution. Detuned Tunis drums and prepared guitars shed like a chrysalis from around a choir of Lott’s evolving vocals, propelled by Chang and Bhatia’s sinewy rhythm section sensibility.

The EP closes with “Take Your Time With Me,” a slow-burn anthem that showcases the band's ability to reconcile hooky pop and thrilling experimentation. Spacious clearings of sound give way to technicolor thickets, with Chang’s drumming thrillingly pitting splatter-paint abstraction against nod-inducing viscerality. The EP leaves us right where we began—imagining and longing for whatever reinvention might follow.

Floris Francis Arthur lanceert ‘What We Don’t Know’, de derde single van zijn aankomende album ‘Little Did I Know’, dat op 7 februari 2025 verschijnt. Het nummer combineert zijn kenmerkende melancholie met een zwoel bossa nova ritme en een spookachtig kinderkoor in de refreinen. Geïnspireerd door de vervreemdende film Dogtooth van Yorgos Lanthimos, schept Floris een mysterieuze sfeer waarin onuitgesproken waarheden de boventoon voeren.

De Tijdloze 100, StuBru - 'Black' van Pearl Jam opnieuw op nummer 1 in De tijdloze 100

Editie vol verrassingen: 10 nieuwkomers en Nick Cave met 4 nummers in top 100

Voor het tweede jaar op rij staat 'Black' van Pearl Jam helemaal bovenaan in De tijdloze 100. 'Black' stond eerder al op die eerste plek van 2015 tot en met 2020, en ook vorig jaar stond het nummer bovenaan de lijst. Het nummer haalt dus nu voor de achtste keer de gegeerde hoofdprijs binnen. 'Mia' van Gorki en 'The Chain' van Fleetwood Mac vervolledigen de top 3.

Maar het was ook een De tijdloze 100 vol verrassingen en wendingen! 2024 was een muzikaal actueel jaar, en dat zie je ook in De tijdloze 100. Zo staan er wel 10 nieuwe artiesten in de lijst. Dit zijn de meest opvallendste weetjes uit De tijdloze 100 van 2024:
Nick Cave is dit jaar de populairste artiest: de Australische singer-songwriter staat met 4 songs (!) in de lijst, dat zijn er 2 meer dan vorig jaar.
Dit jaar zijn er 2 grootste stijgers: Daan met het nummer 'Housewife' stijgt 36 plaatsen. Misschien heeft zijn passage op Rock Werchter en samenwerking met rapper Glints iets mee te maken? Hun samenwerking op het festival werd een van dé zomersingles en stond wekenlang op 1 in De afrekening.
Ook het nummer 'Dog Days Are Over' van Florence + The Machine stijgt 38 plaatsen.
