Something Got Me Started (Live in Santiago) - Album van Simply Red
Last year saw Simply Red celebrate four decades of classic hits and timeless music by embarking upon a 40th anniversary world tour that saw them perform to a total of more than a million fans. Now the band document the most unforgettable tour in their history with the release of the multi-format 'Holding Back the Years: 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago' on June 26th. It is launched alongside the audio and video for the live version of 'Something Got Me Started'.
Originally released in cinemas last year, this captures five sold-out shows at the Movistar Arena in Santiago which were attended by 75,000 people. The performance lives up to the occasion, with Mick Hucknall's voice as soulful, powerful and full of emotion as ever while the band's stellar musicianship brings every nuance of the original recordings to life.
The setlist is a hit-packed crowdpleaser, taking in 'Stars', 'Holding Back The Years', 'If You Don't Know Me By Now', 'Something Got Me Started', 'Fairground' and many more. And the Santiago crowd live up to their reputation by taking the atmosphere to fever pitch throughout, bringing an electrifying energy to the uptempo numbers as well as almost hymnal singing to the ballads.
This release differs from the original theatrical version. It presents the live show uninterrupted from start-to-finish, with the in-depth interview footage of Mick Hucknall exploring the band's history moved to the DVD / Blu-ray bonus features. It was directed by Dan Massie (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender), and produced by Electric Light Studios in conjunction with Rippla and SimplyRed.com.

'Holding Back the Years: 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago' is now available. The 4-disc artbook set features the 2CD audio from the show, a DVD and a Blu-ray of the film in a must-have package which is completed by a 48-page book of photography from the 40th anniversary tour. It is also available as a standalone 2CD set, a DVD and Blu-ray package, and a marbled yellow triple-vinyl complete with a 12-page booklet. The band's official store offers an exclusive transparent blue triple-vinyl format which features an alternate album cover.

Emerging from the modest working classic suburbs of Manchester in 1985, Simply Red put a fresh spin on influences from the worlds of Philly soul, Motown and classic R&B. They quickly became of the UK's biggest bands, with a #1 single ('Fairground'), nine more Top 10 singles, five #1 albums and another ten records that hit the Top 10. Acclaim emerged in tandem, including three BRIT Awards, two Ivor Novellos, and the MOBO Award for Outstanding Achievement.
They proved to be similarly impactful in North America with two #1 singles on Billboard's Hot 100, multiple Platinum or Gold certified albums, and three Grammy nominations. Further afield, they've climbed the charts everywhere from Iceland to Australia. Zet je schrap voor het meest ongetemde concert van 2026, want de Zuid-Londense band Fat Dog kondigt hun terugkeer naar de Belgische podia aan! Na een zegetocht langs uitverkochte zalen en passages op de grootste festivals, strijkt de groep op donderdag 29 oktober 2026 neer in De Roma in Antwerpen voor een show die alle conventies aan diggelen slaat. Ontstaan in de isolatie van de COVID-lockdowns, ontpopte Fat Dog zich tot een band met een live-reputatie om u tegen te zeggen. Dat allemaal zonder ook maar een single uit te brengen. In 2023 tekenden ze bij Domino Recording Company, waarna de wereld kennismaakte met hun debuutsingle "King of the Slugs", een zeven minuten durende trip vol punk en techno. In september 2024 verscheen hun langverwachte debuutalbum 'WOOF.'. De plaat werd mede-geproduceerd door James Ford (Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys) en staat volgens frontman Joe Love vol met "screaming-into-a-pillow" muziek. 'WOOF.' is een opwindende mix van electro-punk, rock-'n-roll, techno en zelfs rave. De perfecte soundtrack om je helemaal op te laten gaan.
Fat Dog staat bekend om hun onstuimige optredens. Dat bewezen ze als voorprogramma van Viagra Boys en Yard Act, maar ook met een ijzersterke set op Rock Werchter 2025 en een reeks eigen uitverkochte shows in 2024 en 2025. Fast-rising London trio Ebbb return with news of their debut album, Shallow Hits, ahead of a July 10th release via esteemed independent institution Ninja Tune. A true vindication of all the early hype that the band - comprised of producer Lev Ceylan, vocalist Will Rowland and drummer Scott MacDonald - have built in recent years, Shallow Hits' arrival is led out of the gates by new single 'Now You Know' and news of a bumper tour across the UK and Europe this winter.
'Now You Know' arrives with perfect timing as the British summer rears its head, it finds the trio deploying an ever-growing pop nous to craft a sun-drenched banger sure to soundtrack many a festival in the coming months. Of the track, Rowland explains: "'Now You Know' started life as a playful, riff-led instrumental. Each layer brought the song to life - first the vocals with lyrics that depict obsessive love, and then the punchiness of the live drum groove, which really tied the song together in the studio. The song is the most playful and optimistic on the album."
Alongside news of the album comes word of a headline tour across the UK and Europe in support of Shallow Hits. The UK shows kick off November 25th at Sheffield's Hallamshire Hotel and include a headline London date at Club Cheek on December 1st, before heading to the continent for shows in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Czechia, culminating in Switzerland on December 16th.
When Ebbb released their genre-busting EP, All at Once, in 2024, they described their unique juxtaposing sounds, fusing glistening melody and harmonies with gritty noise and industrial rhythms, as "Brian Wilson meets Death Grips". However, two years on, such is the rapid feeling of evolution within the group, that such a statement now feels lacking. "I don't think it fits anymore," says Ceylan. "That was us trying to explain the extremes in our music, but at this point it's so much more than that. It's expanded and it's bigger – it's multi-faceted. For each idea, or each bit of vision we had, we wanted to deliver it in a very maximalist way."
The band have built a storied mythology on London's underground live circuit with devastating performances and were signed before releasing a single song, having opened for the likes of Mary in the Junkyard, Fcukers, Porridge Radio, PVA, The Voidz, The Orchestra (For Now) and recently heading out on the road with Shame for their European tour in 2025 as well as hitting up festivals including Truck, End of the Road, Latitude, The Great Escape, Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris and more EU festivals including Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial.
They've enjoyed incredible press support for a new artist including praise from The Guardian, NME, Rolling Stone UK, The Quietus ("Combining choral and orchestral roots with a love of grindcore, new wave, dream pop and techno"), DIY, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, Dork, So Young Magazine, Wonderland and more. At radio they've racked up 4 playlist adds to date at BBC 6 Music championed by Huw Stephens, Lauren Laverne, Nick Grimshaw, Huw Stephens, Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, New Music Fix Daily and Chris Hawkins.
Which brings us to Shallow Hits: an album of real clout and intensity that perfectly mirrors the maximalist approach Ceylan mentions, getting as much as possible from every song and sound on it. Aided by working with co-producer Tom Stafford, the album also benefits enormously from MacDonald's live playing, which was not present on the EP.
The scope, variety and ambition of the album is clear from the off. 'Come Alive' whirs into being quietly before morphing into a sun-kissed, radiant piece of calypso-esque electronic pop; pre-album single 'Home Ground', which is currently on the playlist at BBC 6 Music, turns contemplative, stark vocals into an after-hours belter; 'Shallow Hits' is as deft and detailed as it is big, bold and euphoric; while the wonky yet propulsive charge of 'Side On' sounds like a drum 'n' bass club and church choir combined.
A fervent eclecticism and unpredictable restlessness underpins the album. In its latter stages, it dives into the moody technoid textures and multi-layered harmonies that characterised the All at Once EP – exemplified by 'Youth' and closing track 'I'm Not Enough', which lands an emotional gut punch to an album that is already littered with them. For all that, though, there's a remarkable coherence and identity underpinning the album. Ebbb are exploring far and wide, deep and vast, yet they do so via an approach that remains unmistakably them.
Shallow Hits is an album bursting with ideas, textures, rhythms, detail and emotion. A bold and singular debut record from a group who truly do not sound like anyone else right now.

My Precious Bunny, het solo-project van Lilly Wolters (Penelope Isles), brengt op 22 mei haar debuutalbum A Moment In My Eyes uit. Wolters solowerk voelt aan als een nostalgische herinnering; levendig en filmisch, maar tegelijk ook intiem.
Live te bewonderen op het toonaangevende showcase festival The Great Ecape.
De plaat is geproduceerd samen met jeugdvriend Allister Kellaway (Last Living Cannibal). De nummers glinsteren van textuur en emotie: vervormde pop, uitbarstingen van saxofoon, warme analoge synths en rusteloze gitaren vinden samen een geluid. Er zit een gevoel van verbondenheid in de manier waarop de melodieën in elkaar overvloeien, als oude vrienden die elkaar weer spreken en elkaars zinnen halverwege afmaken.
Geboren en getogen op het Isle of Man, ergens tussen mythe en mist, is Wolters muziek onlosmakelijk verbonden met het landschap dat haar heeft gevormd. Soms diep persoonlijk en ingetogen, dan weer groots en orkestraal.

Pse belgium news - Milk Inc. brengt nieuwe single 'Medicine' uit
De nieuwe single van Milk Inc. heet Medicine. De track is de opvolger van Unstoppable, die ze vorig jaar na een pauze van elf jaar uitbrachten. In oktober 2026 vieren Regi Penxten en Linda Mertens het dertigjarig bestaan van Milk Inc. met twee shows in de AFAS Dome in Antwerpen.

De titel Medicine komt van de lyric ‘music is my medicine’, vertelt Linda. “Medicine gaat over de kracht van muziek. Het betekent alles voor Regi en mij: het is ons leven en onze passie. Het is wie wij zijn. Het is ook wetenschappelijk bewezen dat muziek gezond is voor je lichaam en geest. We hebben zo’n dankbare job, dat we de mensen die naar onze concerten komen blij kunnen maken en even hun zorgen kunnen doen vergeten. Over de magie van muziek wilden we graag een song schrijven.”
Dit jaar bestaat Milk Inc. dertig jaar. Op vrijdag 23 en zaterdag 24 oktober 2026 geven Linda en Regi twee shows in de AFAS Dome in Antwerpen.

Na de eerder aangekondigde tour langs culturele centra, trekt Hooverphonic in 2026 & 2027 nu ook naar de grotere theaterzalen voor een nieuwe reeks bijzondere concerten. De theatertour brengt hen naar de Koningin Elisabethzaal in Antwerpen op 13 september 2026, Kursaal Oostende op 29 januari 2027 en Capitole Gent op 22 maart 2027.
De tour opent in de Koningin Elisabethzaal in Antwerpen, een locatie met een bijzondere betekenis binnen de geschiedenis van Hooverphonic. In 2012 stond de band hier samen met Noémie Wolfs op een van de meest iconische momenten uit hun carrière, een optreden dat tot vandaag wordt beschouwd als een mijlpaal van hun periode met Noémie als frontvrouw - die met haar iconische interpretatie van “Mad About You” nog steeds voor een van de meest iconische momenten uit de band geschiedenis zorgt. Veertien jaar later keert Hooverphonic terug naar deze zaal: een symbolische terugblik op dat hoogtepunt, én tegelijk het begin van een nieuw hoofdstuk, met Noémie opnieuw als vaste stem van de band.
Met deze theatertour kiest Hooverphonic resoluut voor een grootse live-ervaring. De grotere theaterzalen creëren de ideale setting voor symfonisch uitgewerkte arrangementen en laten de filmische, gelaagde sound van de band ten volle tot zijn recht komen. Tijdens deze tour brengt Hooverphonic zowel hun grootste klassiekers als minder vaak gespeelde nummers, herwerkt in uitgebreide arrangementen die volledig tot hun recht komen met live orkest. Zo ontstaat een meeslepende totaalbeleving waarin intimiteit én grandeur hand in hand gaan.

BELGISCHE METALTROTS CHANNEL ZERO KONDIGT GROOTSE SLOTSHOW AAN IN LOTTO ARENA ALS HOOGTEPUNT VAN MONUMENTALE CARRIÈRE
Goed nieuws voor alle fans van Channel Zero: de legendarische Belgische metalband kondigde zonet aan dat ze binnen exact één jaar, op zaterdag 5 december 2026, nog één keer groots zullen uitpakken met een allerlaatste arenashow, dit in de Lotto Arena te Antwerpen. Met dit concert zet de band een definitief punt achter meer dan drie decennia muziekgeschiedenis. Hun drie AB-shows later die maand zijn intussen volledig uitverkocht, dus dit is de allerlaatste kans voor fans om hen nog live aan het werk te zien.
De band bracht het nieuws op geheel eigen wijze én met een actuele knipoog naar de huidige Sinterklaasperiode. In een ludieke video verscheen frontman Franky De Smet-Van Damme als ‘Metal’-Sint om fans een laatste ultiem cadeau te geven: een finaal, groots arena-concert vooraleer ze er definitief mee stoppen. Het concert in de Lotto Arena belooft het absolute hoogtepunt van hun carrière te worden en vormt tevens de feestelijke aftrap van hun allerlaatste tournee genaamd ‘The End Of An Era’, waarmee ze later die maand nog driemaal voor een uitverkochte AB in Brussel zullen staan. Dit arena-concert is daarmee de allerlaatste kans om de band nog live aan het werk te zien, voordat ze definitief afscheid nemen van het podium. Het wordt een onvergetelijke avond waarop ze al hun grootste hits ten gehore zullen brengen en voor de allerlaatste keer hun legendarische live-reputatie eer zullen aandoen, op het grote podium van een arena.
“Het wordt écht een finale show om niet te missen. Op 5 december gaan we nog eens alles geven en zorgen voor een onvergetelijk afscheid voor onze fans. Dit wordt een finale knaller, luider en grootser dan ooit,” zegt frontman Franky De Smet-Van Damme.
Channel Zero, opgericht in 1990 in Brussel, heeft decennialang de Belgische en internationale metalscene veroverd. Van hun doorbraakalbum Unsafe (1994) tot hun recente releases, de band staat bekend om energieke liveshows en een onvergetelijke sound. Na een pauze in 1997 keerden ze in 2010 terug voor een triomfantelijke reünie, goed voor zes uitverkochte AB-shows en meer dan 12.000 concertgangers. Hun in 2021 verschenen album Feed ’em With a Brick – destijds het eerste nieuwe album in 15 jaar - werd meteen omarmd door zowel pers als publiek. Sindsdien veroverden ze opnieuw de metalpodia in België en Europa, en bevestigden ze hun status als absolute live-legendes.
Volgend jaar neemt Channel Zero definitief afscheid van het podium, maar op zaterdag 5 december 2026 krijgen fans nog een laatste kans om de band live op het grote podium van een arena te ervaren in de Lotto Arena in Antwerpen. Dit oudejaarsavond-event biedt veel meer dan zomaar een concert. In de exclusieve setting van Vorst Nationaal zullen fans een zorgvuldig samengestelde avond beleven rond het iconische repertoire van Morrissey, met als hoogtepunt een gezamenlijk countdownmoment om middernacht. Wanneer de klok twaalf uur slaat, gaat de viering verder met een feestelijke balloon-drop die 2027 op unieke wijze inluidt.

De invloed en muzikale erfenis van Morrissey zijn onmiskenbaar. Lambchop have announced their new album, Punching The Clown, will be released on 21 August 2026 via City Slang. Along with the announcement they have shared the lead single “Weakened”, which finds band leader Kurt Wagner alongside Andrew Broder on guitar, Justin Vernon on banjo, a full choir helmed by Blake Morgan; recorded and mixed by Mark Nevers and produced by Ryan Olson.
“Weakened”, the album’s first single, is an anthem for the weak-spirited in a feverish world, carried by the interplay of voices that ultimately merge into a coda demonstrating just how much power this Lambchop line-up can generate. This music needs no noise to grow; it finds its strength from within.
The musical world of Lambchop in 2026 consists of: vocals, backing vocals, banjo, guitar. That’s all the new album “Punching The Clown” needs. With this line-up, they’ve created music that lies somewhere between gospel, folk and country. On the one hand, it’s focused and stripped-back. On the other hand, incredibly rich and powerful. By the way, Justin Vernon plays the banjo. And when it came to songwriting, Kurt Wagner was more consistent than ever: he learnt from the best and resolved to give a chance only to songs that could measure up. And so, “Punching The Clown” in the band’s 33rd year is the new masterpiece of the masterful Lambchop discography.
Nashville, 2024: Kurt Wagner drove to the petrol station; an old song was playing on the car radio that he couldn’t get out of his head. “A simple song,” he says, “a banjo holding a single chord, with a few voices singing along.” A mix of folk, country and gospel. “Breathtaking. Beautiful.” For a few days, Wagner tried to find out what this piece was that had so captivated him. He didn’t succeed. Instead, during his research, he came across a form of music that has long been forgotten, yet continues to exert a major influence on country and folk to this day. Wagner stumbled upon the song form known as ‘lining out’, which originated in British churches in the 19th century, at a time when many people could not yet read. A lead singer, known as a “clerk”, would set a simple melody and lyrics, and the congregation would repeat them. This musical form reached the United States via the settlers and flowed into the great American melting pot from which gospel, country and Appalachian folk music developed. A plan had long since taken shape in Kurt Wagner’s mind: to record a Lambchop album that reflects the spirit of this music and of that mysterious song from the radio.
“Punching The Clown” is that album.
It is not unusual for Kurt Wagner to have a precise plan in mind before he sets to work. There are many examples of this in Lambchop’s unique discography. In 1997, Wagner named the third album “Thriller”, hoping that the title alone would multiply sales figures. The Lambchop classic “Nixon” combined soul and country, Curtis Mayfield and Hank Williams in 2000. “Is A Woman”, released two years later, was a piano-driven work; with “FLOTUS” in 2016, Kurt Wagner introduced an autotune effect into the Lambchop universe – for very pragmatic reasons, as he explains: “At the time, the autotune felt like a buddy by my side.”
Essentially, each of the 15 Lambchop albums released to date has pursued the idea of constantly reinventing the band’s sound based on what had already been created. One might think that after 33 years and with album number 16, there couldn’t be much left to offer. And then comes “Punching The Clown”: within seconds, you find yourself in a new Lambchop world where everything sounds fresh yet wonderfully familiar. It feels like returning to a favourite place in a dream.
The new songs are, of course, shaped by Kurt Wagner’s voice.
No one else sings and speaks like him. Wagner’s vocals are an art form in themselves; he should be given a Grammy for them. This time, he’s done away with the Auto-Tune effect. Instead, he’s brought in choirs to join him. Two ensembles can be heard, each led by Blake Morgan: one from Eau Claire with six voices, and one from London with eleven. The choirs do not merely accompany Wagner; they engage in a lively dialogue with him. “They’re my new buddies, just like the Autotune device used to be,” he says.
And then there’s the banjo. “I’m not a big fan of this instrument,” Wagner admits. Too much ‘yeehaw’… Others would steer clear of it in such a case. He, however, finds it motivating. “Because if you allow yourself to overcome your own prejudices, you’re rewarded by discovering new facets.” The plan: to make the banjo cool and appealing. So it was very fortunate that up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 800 miles north of Wagner’s hometown of Nashville, someone was currently working intensively with the banjo: Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. A star. But also a nerd who immediately agreed when Kurt Wagner asked him if he wanted to be part of this new Lambchop line-up.
This line-up therefore consists of: Kurt Wagner and Andrew Broder, who has been accompanying him live as a pianist for several years. Added to this are the two backing vocals of Blake Morgan and Justin Vernon on banjo. There has never been a group like this before. Nor a band like Lambchop. It’s also worth mentioning producer Ryan Olson. “Not just someone who fiddles with buttons,” says Wagner, “but someone who leaves his mark as an artist.”
Precisely because this line-up is so good and special, Kurt Wagner absolutely needed excellent songs. “I took the job of songwriting for this album very seriously,” says Wagner. He studied how other great songwriters write, read biographies for this purpose, analysed their songs, and formulated questions he asked himself: “What touches and moves you about your favourite songs – and why? And how can you succeed in applying these insights to your own world?” His home study was followed by initial attempts at songwriting, many of which failed. Hence: a fresh start. Things improved, but it still wasn’t enough. Another fresh start, combined with a request to guitarist Andrew Broder to co-write with him– and suddenly it all fell into place.
Thirty songs were created, recorded as demos. Now it was a matter of selecting twelve for the album and putting them in the right order. The structure of “Punching The Clown” was therefore already in place before actual production began. “We viewed the album as a whole from the very start,” says Wagner. No wonder it sounds so coherent and self-assured. Typical of Lambchop. On the one hand. On the other hand, the record goes one step further. The quality of the songs, the band’s line-up, the uniqueness of the arrangements and production – “Punching The Clown” is a masterpiece within Lambchop’s masterful discography. Including lyrics to make you fall to your knees.

in early 2024 i heard a song on the radio on my way to get some gas.

which is said to have begun in the late 1800s in scotland.
it migrated to appalacia and became an obscure root of american gospel, country....
a spontaneous call and response type of acapella singing led by a clerk with a chorus of singers
revealing the raw beauty and power of the human voice with its unique varieties
its unadorned simplicity gave weight to the words as they were sung.
i wanted to make a record that emulated this kind of music.
