Belgian post-metal quintet Hippotraktor have today revealed their new single 'Builder of Eden', featuring Loic Rossetti, former vocalist of The Ocean.

The band comment: "For 'Builder of Eden', we joined forces with one of our biggest inspirations, Loïc Rossetti (ex-The Ocean Collective), to create one of the most monumental and heavy tracks on the album.
"The song follows our nameless protagonist as he violently defies his creator, breaking free from the empty burden of existence thrust upon him.
'We are all hypothetical legends, regressed. Overprivileged sons trapped in a numb, mechanical dream.’”
Since emerging from Mechelen, Belgium, Hippotraktor have steadily carved out a singular artistic identity guided by an enduring commitment to exploration. Their music unfolds through carefully sculpted contrasts, where immense rhythmic force exists alongside delicate melodic detail. Moments of overwhelming intensity dissolve into passages of quiet reflection, suspended stillness erupts into visceral power and sonic chaos; their sound is a meticulously crafted interplay between movement and heaviness. Once again Annihilist showcases the band's ability to balance crushing physicality with emotional nuance, whilst pushing further into highly cultivated experimentation. For Hippotraktor, immense sonic weight coexists with remarkable clarity and depth, and through the many shifting passages and moments Annihilist becomes a journey of awe, dissolution, melancholia and rampaging power. At the heart of this album is a sense of collective inspiration. Guitarist Chiaran Verheyden's compositional vision provides the framework for music that is both intricate and instinctive, yet Hippotraktor's identity is forged through the dialogue between all five musicians.
Although often associated with progressive metal, post-metal and sludge, Hippotraktor resist classification. Their music draws freely from multiple traditions while remaining unmistakably their own, blending rhythmic complexity, cinematic atmosphere and deeply human expression into a sound that feels both expansive and immediate. From the visceral, roaring opening of 'Builder of Eden', to the deconstructed finale of 'Courageous Apathy', this album exhibits the vast arsenal at Hippotraktor's disposal.

After more than five decades of friendship, musical exchange and separate careers that helped redefine what the electric guitar could do, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have finally made a record together. The Sea of Emotion, the first studio album from SatchVai, will be released November 6, 2026 via earMUSIC. The announcement arrives alongside the release of "Mayhem," the album's blistering new single, out today.
The story began in 1973, when 13-year-old Steve Vai began taking guitar lessons from his 17-year-old teacher, Joe Satriani, in Long Island. Neither could have known where that shared obsession with the guitar would lead. More than 50 years later, after establishing themselves as solo artists and sharing stages around the world through the legendary G3 tours, they have brought their musical histories together on one album.
"We've been planning this since 1973," Vai says with a laugh. "Just unconsciously."
The album came together after a G3 reunion tour created an unexpected opening in their schedules. What began as a suggestion to record a single track quickly expanded when Satriani sent Vai two finished pieces, "The Sea of Emotion, Part 1" and "Part 2." Vai knew immediately that the time had come.
The process was anything but predictable. Although the two musicians share a deep musical history, similar influences and a lifelong understanding of the guitar, they discovered that they write very differently. That contrast became one of the defining elements of the record, with ideas moving back and forth until the songs took unexpected turns.
"The biggest surprise was that we write in completely different ways," Satriani explains. "And that's what made the project so fun and interesting."
The album brings together two musicians who have spent decades developing unmistakable individual voices, while giving each the freedom to push the other somewhere new. Producer and keyboardist Eric Caudieux helped keep the process honest, while a formidable group of longtime collaborators supplied the rhythm section, including drummers Gregg Bissonette, Jeremy Colson, Kenny Aronoff, Matt Chamberlain and Mike Mangini, and bassists Billy Sheehan, Bryan Beller, Philip Bynoe, Matt Bissonette, Marco Mendoza and Henrik Linder.
Across The Sea of Emotion, SatchVai move from the raw rock 'n' roll of "Mayhem" and "Bronco Freight Train" to the darker, cinematic "Old Sins Have Long Shadows," the unruly swing of "Zoot Suit Riot" and the arena-sized "I Wanna Play My Guitar," featuring legendary singer Glenn Hughes.
At the center of the album is the three-part "The Sea of Emotion" suite, which reaches back to the Carle Place school field where the two teenage musicians once spent time dreaming about music. "The Sea of Emotion, Part 3" even begins with a vintage reel-to-reel recording from one of Vai's early lessons with Satriani, a glimpse of two young guitarists still searching for their voices.
"It illustrates just how far we've come," Satriani says. "We're these two kids who haven't found our sound yet, but we've got enthusiasm. We're chasing something, and we're determined."
For Vai, the album ultimately represents something more personal than a meeting of two celebrated guitarists.
"That's when I really feel, like, wow, we really did it," he says. "It's a beautiful coming together of me and my friend in a very intimate musical way. That was the reason we did the record."

For over three decades, the guitar virtuoso has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza. About Steve Vai
Steve Vai is a virtuoso guitarist, composer and producer, considered by many as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. In over 45 years in the industry, Vai has sold over 15 million records, received three Grammy Awards, and recorded with music legends like Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake and many more. Vai has also toured extensively and recorded live projects with G3 (collaborating with different touring lineups including Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Steve Lukather) and Generation Axe, a supergroup Vai formed with Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt and Tosin Abasi. For its 18th edition, Sonic City leans further into the night. Three days stretched at the edges—where club pulse meets something more unguarded, more cinematic. The programme moves like a slow burn: new names, cult figures, and artists just arriving, threaded together into this year's line-up.
This year’s edition unfolds under the guidance of Marie Davidson and Dirty Three—two curatorial voices that don’t naturally settle in the same room, which is exactly the point. Davidson’s world is precise, rhythmic, wired for the body: a lineage of minimal wave and techno that sharpens repetition into something sensual and slightly confrontational. Her orbit brushes acts like Soulwax, where electronics gain weight, friction, and a certain late-night propulsion.
Dirty Three come from elsewhere entirely. Their music—fragile, sprawling, wordless—leans into tension and release, where silence carries as much weight as sound. Through Warren Ellis and his long-standing dialogue with Nick Cave, their universe stretches toward film scores and devotional intensity, where emotion lingers and unravels in real time.

Cultuurcentrum Brugge - Tien jaar lokaal talent, tien jaar Brugotta
Van 18 tot en met 20 september staat Brugge helemaal in het teken van lokaal talent. Verwacht een weekend vol expo, muziek, theater en bijzondere ontmoetingen, met Brugse kunstenaars, muzikanten en podiumtalent in de hoofdrol.
Tien jaar geleden kreeg het grote aanbod aan lokaal talent binnen CC Brugge een herkenbaar platform: Brugotta – Bruges Got Talent.
Sindsdien kregen al meer dan 500 artiesten en kunstenaars een podium of speelkans. Van beeldende kunst in Expo Poortersloge, Expo Bogardenkapel, Expo Burg en Expo Biekorf tot muziek in de MaZ, met Brugotta Club en Brugotta Café.

Ars Musica 2026 - ARCTIC FEVER zet koers naar het hoge Noorden - 14 november tot 7 december 2026
Ars Musica 2026 laat de temperatuur stijgen met ARCTIC FEVER. Het belangrijkste Belgische festival voor nieuwe muziek verklankt het gekraak van IJslandse gletsjers, de echo’s van Scandinavische fjorden en het gefluister van Baltische bossen. Van 14 november tot 7 december pakt Ars Musica uit met 50 evenementen, waaronder 20 creaties, op 25 locaties in 10 Belgische steden. Onder meer het Belgian National Orchestra, het Ensemble Intercontemporain en Brussels Philharmonic staan in Bozar, Concertgebouw Brugge en PBA Charleroi. Tijdens de opening brengt het Cikada Ensemble de nachtelijke wereld van fauna en flora tot leven met Night Lives van Kristine Tjøgersen in Botanique. Nog blikvangers zijn Messe des Glaces, de creatie van Jean-Luc Fafchamps rond de klimaatopwarming en het smelten van de gletsjers, en het dansante Nous sommes Orage van Bastien David, een creatie die het publiek in trance brengt.
Drie thematische lijnen geven vorm aan ARCTIC FEVER. Zo komt een groot deel van het programma uit het hoge Noorden. Daarnaast staat deze editie bewust stil bij de klimaatopwarming, het smelten van de ijskappen en een bedreigde biodiversiteit, ontwikkelingen die in het Noorden bijzonder tastbaar zijn. ARCTIC FEVER is tegelijk ook een feestelijke uitnodiging om ruimte te maken voor vreugde, beweging en dans. “De editie van 2026 draagt de ondertitel We Are Hot. Het is een tweeledige boodschap waarmee we trots willen uitdragen dat nieuwe muziek opwindend is, zonder de blik af te wenden van de stijgende temperaturen”, aldus Patrick Leterme, artistiek directeur van Ars Musica.
Focusartiesten uit het Noorden
Ars Musica zet twee focusartiesten uit het hoge Noorden centraal. De Noorse componist Kristine Tjøgersen laat zich rechtstreeks inspireren door fauna en flora. Met haar organische muziek brengt ze de natuur het festival binnen. Tjøgersens werk is te horen tijdens maar liefst zeven concerten, waaronder Night Lives in Botanique (14.11) en Waar natuur muziek wordt, waarbij studenten van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel door het museum van het Instituut voor Natuurwetenschappen trekken voor een muzikale reis (29.11).
De Zweedse componist Anders Hillborg werkte al met de meest prestigieuze orkesten, ensembles en solisten. In Bozar toont hij zijn symfonische meesterschap met Echoes of the North, uitgevoerd door het Belgian National Orchestra en de Zweedse sopraan Ida Falk Winland onder leiding van Eva Ollikainen (4.12). Zijn passie voor het mengen van muziekstijlen klinkt door in Bach/Hillborg/Campo: from Baroque to Hip-Hop. Collectif Listening opent met Bachs Brandenburg Concerto no. 3, gevolgd door Bach Materia, Hillborgs door rock en jazz gekleurde bewerking van hetzelfde concerto. Ook Régis Campo’s Beatbox Concerto staat op het programma, met beatboxvirtuoos FootboxG en hiphopdansers (Manège Fonck, 30.11 en Botanique, 2.12).
Composities van Anna Thorvaldsdóttir, Arvo Pärt en Kaija Saariaho worden afgewisseld met nieuwe werken van Helena Tulve, Erkki-Sven Tüür en Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir. “Het publiek krijgt zo alle mogelijke vormen van nieuwe muziek te horen: van de grote klassiekers tot urban en meer experimentele muziek”, licht Patrick Leterme toe.
Nieuwe muziek voor iedereen
Centraal in het programma en in de visie van Patrick Leterme (artistiek directeur) en Katrien Dobbelaere (zakelijk leidster) staat inclusiviteit. Geografisch gezien brengt Ars Musica nieuwe muziek naar Brussel, Wallonië én Vlaanderen. Met lezingen, masterclasses en workshops voor kinderen en volwassenen richt het festival zich zowel tot nieuwsgierige luisteraars als tot toekomstige muziekprofessionals. “Nieuwe muziek beoefenen en waarderen is voor iedereen weggelegd”, benadrukt Katrien Dobbelaere.
Uiteenlopende formats spreken zowel een breed publiek als verschillende zintuigen aan. Zo is er Kortfilms uit het Noorden, een cineconcert dat in samenwerking met Luc Dardenne werd samengesteld en live begeleid wordt door het Bowmore Quartet (Cinema Palace, 18.11). In Échos d’essences versmelten muziek en parfum tijdens een immersief geurconcert (Le Senghor, 18.11).
Ook voor gezinnen staan er heel wat activiteiten op het programma. Dans le Bruit du Monde is een hiphopcreatie met rap en dans van Luca Latte en Studio PBA (Le Marni, 19.11). Les Insectes & Bastien David zet de metallofoon centraal. Deze cirkelvormige vibrafoon heeft een diameter van meerdere meters en wordt bespeeld door zes percussionisten (Le Senghor, 6.12). In Txalapartas uit hout, steen en ijs ontdekt het publiek het fascinerende Baskische instrument in een ongeziene vorm. De txalaparta uit ijs smelt langzaam tijdens het concert (ISELP, 19.11).
Niet te missen
Het programma telt heel wat grote namen en bijzondere belevingen. In °Cristallisation° combineert het Quatuor Diotima hedendaagse composities met video en stemopnames van de bewoners en wetenschappers die geconfronteerd worden met het smelten van het ijs (Bozar, 15.11).
Voor Trio bundelen Brussels Philharmonic, het Vlaams Radiokoor en het Brussels Jazz Orchestra de krachten. Het resultaat is een monumentale audiovisuele collage van muziek, archiefmateriaal en iconische citaten uit de muziekgeschiedenis (Bozar, 27.11 en Concertgebouw Brugge, 28.11).
Naast de tachtigste verjaardag van Pēteris Vasks (MIM, 22.11) viert het festival ook de honderdste verjaardag van György Kurtág (Hongaars Cultureel Centrum, 28.11). De muziek van Arvo Pärt biedt twee momenten van verstilling: Rêver le Nord is een dromerige reis tussen orgel, elektronica en stem (Protestantse Kerk van Brussel, 20.11). Arvo Pärt en Erkki-Sven Tüür staat in het teken van spiritualiteit en soberheid, met onder meer een wereldcreatie voor strijkorkest en percussie van Tüür (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk van Laken, 3.12 en Arsonic, 7.12).
Als afsluiter brengt Nous sommes Orage, een immersieve creatie van Bastien David, het publiek in een lichamelijke trance. Het legendarische Ensemble Intercontemporain en Les Insectes bespelen instrumenten die speciaal voor deze gelegenheid werden ontworpen. Een spectaculaire apotheose!
Belgische verankering, internationale horizonten
Ars Musica presenteert maar liefst 20 Belgische en internationale creaties. Tijdens deze editie gaat de bruisende Belgische scène in dialoog met muziek uit de Baltische en Scandinavische landen, maar ook uit Frankrijk en Japan. Het festival verwelkomt internationale creaties van Helena Tulve (Estland), Maija Hynninen (Finland), Erkki-Sven Tüür (Estland), Vykintas Baltakas (Litouwen), Tõnu Kõrvits (Estland), Régis Campo (Frankrijk), Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir (IJsland) en Dai Fujikura (Japan).
Aan Belgische zijde zet Ars Musica een veelzijdige groep componisten in de kijker: Apolline Jesupret, Claude Ledoux, David Achenberg, Jean-Luc Fafchamps, Oren Boneh en Alice Hebborn, naast rapper Luca Latte en beatmaker Nicolas Debahia. Het festival werkt samen met de compositieklassen van de conservatoria in Brussel en Bergen. Ook via de Concours Charlier moedigt Ars Musica jong talent aan.
Met een rijk programma viert Ars Musica de diversiteit van hedendaagse muziek en weerspiegelt deze editie de vreugde én de uitdagingen van vandaag. Daarbij staat één overtuiging centraal: in een wereld die in brand staat, moeten we branden van nieuwsgierigheid.

Ooit had Nicolas een groot geloof in de menselijke inventiviteit, maar de laatste jaren plaats hij steeds meer vraagtekens bij dit vooruitgangsdenken. Waar gaan we heen? En wat dreigen we onderweg te verliezen? Wat voelde als een belofte, voelt steeds meer als een perversie. De wereld verkeert in een uiterst explosieve staat en niemand lijkt nog richting of controle te hebben.
Temidden van deze chaos uit de zanger ook een intiem, persoonlijk verlangen naar rust en ontprikkeling. Kan hij zomaar uit deze maalstroom stappen? En zou dit hem verlossen van het onderhuids, dreigende gevoel dat zijn denken beheerst?

'Waist Deep' is de vierde en laatste single van debuutalbum 'Flood' dat op 13 oktober 2026 verschijnt via Thorn in my side recordings (het label van RAMAN., Wouter Thijssen en bonfire lakes). De plaat wordt op 22 oktober 2026 voorgesteld in Het Bos in Antwerpen. Nicolas nodigt jullie graag uit naar deze show en biedt indien gewenst een plaats aan op de gastenlijst.

Saving Nico is de muzikale vermomming van singer-songwriter Nicolas Anné. Hij haalde de halve finale van Humo's Rock Rally 2024 en speelde in het voorprogramma van Isbells, Tin Fingers, Zimmerman, Jamie Webster, ISE, Chantal Acda en bonfire lakes. Nicolas onderzoekt het menselijke - en dus ook het eigen - streven en falen en zoekt er verzoening mee via intieme indie-folk die eerlijk, gevoelig en verbindend is. In 2024 verscheen zijn debuut-EP 'Out of Sight' die hij voorstelde in een uitverkochte amoR van De Roma. Single 'When I Was A Child' zat lange tijd in rotatie bij Radio 1.
In oktober volgt debuutalbum 'Flood', opgenomen samen met Nicolas Rombouts en Felix Machtelinckx. Overspoeld door angst, twijfel, liefde, schoonheid en verlies ging Nicolas op zoek naar een ruwer en levendiger geluid, dat zijn toegenomen ontvankelijkheid voor de directe ervaring en het mystieke reflecteert.
'Flood' is een doorleefd en meevoerend album waarop Nicolas zingt over het verlies van naasten, over liefdevol uitkijken naar nieuw leven, over omgaan met faalangst en de wens om te vluchten, naar de natuur, over het sublieme aldaar, over mens zijn in een wereld die steeds angstaanjagender wordt.

CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33 BRENGT 'A PAINTED SYMPHONY' NAAR ING ARENA
- Eerder dit jaar was het Koninklijk Circus in enkele uren uitverkocht. In 2027 wordt het groter: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 "A Painted Symphony" komt op dinsdag 30 maart naar de ING Arena in Brussel.
Componist Lorien Testard, zangeres Alice Duport-Percier en Orchestre Curieux brengen er de veelbekroonde soundtrack van het internationale gamefenomeen live tot leven, als onderdeel van een nieuwe tournee langs enkele van de grootste concertzalen in Europa en de Verenigde Staten.

Wie Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 speelde, weet hoe bepalend de muziek is voor de wereld van de game. De soundtrack van Lorien Testard is veel meer dan begeleiding: de ijle melodieën, grootse orkestraties en de stem van Alice Duport-Percier dragen mee het verhaal en de emotionele kracht van de expeditie.
Voor de game componeerde Testard maar liefst 154 stukken, samen goed voor meer dan acht uur muziek. Hij werkte daarbij nauw samen met Alice Duport-Percier, die naast haar vocale bijdrage ook eigen melodieën aanleverde. Die creatieve wisselwerking groeide uit tot een van de meest herkenbare elementen van de muzikale identiteit van Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
En die muziek vond ook ver buiten de gamingwereld haar publiek. De soundtrack bereikte de eerste plaats in de Billboard Classical Albums Chart en werd bekroond met onder meer de BAFTA voor Best Music. De game zelf werd tijdens The Game Awards 2025 uitgeroepen tot Game of the Year en groeide uit tot een wereldwijd fenomeen.
Met A Painted Symphony komt die muziek volledig op de voorgrond te staan. Lorien Testard en Alice Duport-Percier worden tijdens de Europese tournee begeleid door Orchestre Curieux, dat de thema's uit de game alle ruimte geeft in een volledige livebezetting. Van de kleinste, meest ingetogen passages tot de grote orkestrale momenten: de soundtrack krijgt op het podium een nieuwe dimensie.
Na de vliegende start in België zet A Painted Symphony in 2027 een flinke volgende stap. De tournee houdt halt in zalen als The O2 in Londen, Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Radio City Music Hall in New York en The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
Op 30 maart 2027 krijgt ook Brussel opnieuw de volledige wereld van Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 te horen, dit keer in de ING Arena.

Pinopop gaat voor het eerst indoor: tributefestival doet dit jaar extra editie in Lommel

Na zes succesvolle zomeredities maakt Pinopop zich op voor een primeur. Op zaterdag 17 oktober 2026 vindt de allereerste indoor editie van Pinopop plaats in Soeverein Lommel. Met een stevige affiche vol tributebands wordt het een avond voor liefhebbers van straffe livemuziek, herkenbare hits en vooral veel ambiance. Tickets en info via pinopop.be
Pinopop heeft inmiddels zes zomeredities op de teller staan en is uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde voor liefhebbers van tributebands. Na de meest recente editie deze zomer kiest de organisatie nu voor een nieuwe formule: Pinopop Indoor.
“Na zes edities in openlucht vonden we het tijd om eens iets nieuws te proberen. De sfeer en het DNA van Pinopop blijven hetzelfde, maar met de indoor editie kunnen we het festival in een heel andere setting beleven. Soeverein Lommel is daarvoor de ideale locatie”, klinkt het bij Pascal Faes en Karl Berghmans van de organisatie. "Deze Pinopop Indoor is een leuke uitbreiding van ons zomerfestival, want dat blijft gewoon bestaan."
Ook de affiche mag er meteen zijn. Pinopop Indoor brengt op 17 oktober een gevarieerde mix van rock, pop en stevige beats naar Soeverein Lommel.
Van Amy Winehouse tot Iron Maiden
De avond start met Back to Amy, een Belgische tributeband (uit Hamont) die het repertoire van Amy Winehouse opnieuw tot leven brengt. Ze stonden in 2025 al eens op Pinopop festival. Daarna is het de beurt aan Grohl, de Foo Fighters tributeband uit Tessenderlo die garant staat voor stevige rock en meezingers.

Met Within Tension volgt een eerbetoon aan Within Temptation, waarna The Prodigy XL de zaal op zijn kop mag zetten met de energieke sound van - u raadt het nooit - The Prodigy. De avond wordt afgesloten door Up The Irons, een tribute aan Iron Maiden. Zij werden eerder al geboekt voor Pinopop, maar COVID stak daar een stokje voor. Op 17 oktober is het eindelijk zover en zullen ze heel Lommel laten meebrullen met o.a. Fear of the Dark.
Tussen de liveoptredens door zorgt de Lommelse DJ Serge voor de nodige sfeer.
Van festivalweide naar indoor
De stap naar een indoor editie betekent een nieuwe mijlpaal voor Pinopop. Het concept blijft trouw aan waar het festival voor staat: sterke tributebands, bekende nummers en een publiek dat vooral komt om samen te genieten van muziek.
“Bij Pinopop draait het altijd om muziek die mensen samenbrengt. Pinopop Indoor is voor ons geen vervanging van het zomerfestival, maar een extra hoofdstuk. We willen verschillende generaties en muziekliefhebbers bij elkaar brengen en hen vooral een geweldige avond bezorgen. We zijn benieuwd hoe het publiek zal reageren op deze nieuwe setting. Eén ding staat alvast vast: we zijn er helemaal klaar voor!”
Muzikaal weekend in Soeverein Lommel
Pinopop Indoor staat bovendien niet alleen. Dezelfde organisatie plant de dag voordien, op vrijdag 16 oktober, ROOD Singalong in, eveneens in Soeverein Lommel. ROOD Singalong wordt een avond waarbij het publiek samen kan meezingen met de grootste hits van Marco Borsato. Een 20-koppige liveband brengt de nummers live op het podium en de songteksten verschijnen op groot scherm, zodat iedereen uit volle borst kan meezingen.
