V2 records news – Poliça – announces new album ‘dreams go’
POLIÇA Announces New Album "Dreams Go"
OUT 17 OCTOBER VIA MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES

Minneapolis-based band POLIÇA today announces news of their sixth album Dreams Go, due out October 17 via Memphis Industries. POLIÇA delivers their most emotionally resonant and texturally rich work to date—a poignant meditation on loss, resilience, and the fragile beauty of holding on. Written and recorded in the shadow of bassist Chris Bierden's glioblastoma diagnosis, the album is both elegy and act of preservation, capturing the band at a moment of profound transition.

To accompany the announcement, they share the album title track. Commenting on the track Channy Leaneagh says, "It's an anthem for the dreams we swallow, bury away while life goes on without them."

Since their emergence from Minneapolis' vibrant underground in 2011, POLIÇA has carved out a singular space in electronic indie-pop, blending shadowy synths, pulsating rhythms, and the unmistakable vocal presence of Channy Leaneagh—a voice that bends and refracts like light through water, shaped by intricate processing yet deeply human at its core. Co-founded by producer Ryan Olson, the band's alchemy has long been defined by its balance of warmth and detachment, with Chris Bierden's melodic bass lines and the dueling drums of Ben Ivascu and Drew Christopherson anchoring their hypnotic sound.

Their upcoming LP, Dreams Go, is a collection of eight new songs recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota, marking the band's final sessions with Bierden before he lost the ability to play bass. The record pulses with a raw, elegiac energy, a testament to the chemistry that defined POLIÇA's first decade.

While Bierden can no longer perform live, POLIÇA presses forward with a new addition of Alex Nutter, reimagining themselves once more with a new touring lineup. Produced by Olson and featuring guest production by Stockholm-based techno producer Peder Mannerfelt, Dreams Go doesn't just memorialize the past—it propels the band into the next phase of their evolution, proving that reinvention has always been part of their DNA.

Though born of grief, Dreams Go is anything but static. It breathes, shimmers, and ultimately insists on the power of making art in the face of uncertainty. Whether or not POLIÇA continues beyond this release, Dreams Go stands as a moving testament to the band's creative bond—and to Bierden's indelible role within it.

Tomorrowland news – Oscar And The Wolf - Core Stage afgesloten tijdens overweldigend debuut van After Hours op Tomorrowland

From light to darkness.

Oscar and the Wolf op Tomorrowland 2025

To be continued.

Ola Tunji wint Gent Jazz Talent 2025 én publieksprijs!

Even voorstellen - Noah Vanden Abeele – MAGNOLIA

THE CHARLATANS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM "WE ARE LOVE" OUT 31ST OCTOBER VIA BMG
NEW SINGLE 'WE ARE LOVE' OUT NOW
The Charlatans - We Are Love (Official Visualiser)
The Charlatans kick off a new era today with the news of their 14th studio album, "We Are Love", out 31st October via BMG. The announcement comes accompanied by the album's first offering, title track 'We Are Love', which the Manchester five piece debuted live this month at a landmark hometown show at Castlefield Bowl.

One of the best loved UK bands of the last four decades, The Charlatans' career spans 13 albums, 22 Top 40 singles, three Number One albums and era-defining anthems like 'The Only One I Know', 'North Country Boy' and 'One to Another'. "We Are Love" launches a bold new era, one that finds them at peace with their past whilst looking forward to a bright future.

Lead single 'We Are Love' is a celebratory statement of intent, an urgent, limber, clattering love song to the human race. Propelled forward by driving drums and anthemic guitar riffs, frontman Tim Burgess describes it as "like an open top car ride in the credits of your favourite movie driving along the coast to somewhere amazing". One of the first tracks to emerge from the album, it became a pathfinder for the record, as Collins explains: "Early on we thought it felt right. And it turned out that way: first single, title track, second song on the album. And things started forming around We Are Love. There was a certain energy to it that drove us forwards".

An eight year gap between albums is the longest ever for one of the UK's most enduring bands. A combination of covid, solo projects, life's complexities and the fact that its five members - Tim Burgess (vocals) Martin Blunt (bass), Mark Collins (guitar), Tony Rogers (keyboards) and Pete Salisbury (drums) - live scattered across Europe, meant that it took longer than usual for the stars to align at the right place, right time, right vibe. They took the time to carefully select a recording A-team of production duo Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange and Lightspeed Champion) and Fred Macpherson (Spector, Rachel Chinouriri, Jessica Winter, Taahliah), plus legendary producer Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries), alongside a list of engineers, mixers and collaborators that reads like a who's who of alt rock greatness. The result has been well worth the wait.

Recorded at two places that are totemic in The Charlatans' history - Rockfield in Wales and their own Big Mushroom space in Middlewich, Cheshire - Burgess cites hauntology and psychogeography as two concepts that swirled in his head as the band dug into the album making. For one thing, their return to storied farm studio Rockfield for the first time in almost 30 years - since they made fifth album "Tellin' Stories" - was an important step. As a band they hadn't been there since keyboard player Rob Collins was killed, in the middle of that album's sessions, in a car crash at the bottom of the track leading to the farm. Throughout the record you can hear The Charlatans' awareness of the stuff that's made them - the highs and the lows; the desire to honour their own mighty legacy, whilst not being defined by it. A career-long drive to be progressive and innovative.

Tim Burgess explains: "The whole idea of hauntology and psychogeography is represented by us going back to Rockfield, where so much history has happened for The Charlatans. That was important as a way of honouring every member who's played in the band. So we're honouring ourselves, our past, feeling that energy and reincarnating it, doing something fresh, brand new".

This introspection brought home the fact that love is the glue that has held The Charlatans together for so long, and that's reflected in the 11 tracks that make up this forward-thinking, future-facing  album.

We are The Charlatans. We Are Love.

LIVE Nov 16 - Antwerp, Belgium – Trix

London-based multidisciplinary artist Joviale announces their debut full-length album, Mount Crystal, due September 12 2025 via Ghostly International.

Co-produced by Joviale with John Carroll Kirby, Jkarri, and Kwaku Konadu, Mount Crystal, is an ascendant, conceptual album. The songs are electric and soulful, dashed with jazzy experimentation, rhythmic rock, and vibrant sound design, all realised with a cast of collaborators including Sam Wilkes, Carter Lang, and Will Miller. Initially imagined as a play, Mount Crystal brims and bursts with life - peril, humour, and the buzz of the human spirit - conjuring a metaphysical climb that transcends the audio format. With plans to further manifest the vision as a live set and more, Joviale sets the course:
"Mount Crystal's lore is driven by the embodiment of desire, danger, and desperation. A mirrored dimension in a distant reality where nothing is left unsaid. These chapters crave to tear apart the illusion of pleasure by alchemising the unrelenting pain I've experienced in my efforts to love, deny, and embrace the sweetest melodies with the sweetest friends."

The album's second single, the super-charged centrepiece, "HARK!", crosses sinister funk with serene majesty. "Not even them mountains can stop you! Not even them angels can help you!" Joviale shouts into the horizon as records scratch, guitars solo, and voices shriek and laugh. The group leaned into an evil groove during its recording, where Michael Jackson's Thriller was a studio playlist staple. Joviale said about the track, "some things don't make sense, but we can still have fun in that uncertainty".

"HARK!" follows the release of the album's debut single, "Moonshine", which built to rhythmic bliss with James Mollison of Ezra Collective on saxophone, and previewed an electric, soulful, and jazzy new direction for Joviale.

Inspired by the comedic musical mastery of Prince's 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon and the offbeat surrealism of David Lynch's Twin Peaks, Joviale first saw Mount Crystal as a murder mystery, hypothetically casting each collaborator as a character in the story. Co-producer John Carroll Kirby (Steve Lacy, Frank Ocean, Solange, Kacey Musgraves) became the American cop investigator tracking a series of murders in a strange British hotel. Joviale and contributors Fabiana Palladino and Laura Groves are entertainers at the hotel; co-producer Joshua Gaskin-Brown, aka Jkarri (PinkPantheress, Nia Archives, Bel Cobain, Natanya), is the resident handyman always at work in the periphery, and so on. The loose framework immediately set a relaxed, anything-goes mentality to recording sessions spread over various makeshift studio set-ups, including Joviale's living room during a month-long stay in Barcelona. "We all have one thing in common, which is that we love to jam as musicians and love to have a stupid time and we will work from each other's houses," says Joviale. "In this trio with John and Joshua, I felt very much in the lead; they'd be like, 'we get it,' and that's because we were able to jam through it."

Joviale's personality reverberates across Mount Crystal's densely detailed world. They speak with swagger and sing skyward, cutting through rubbery basslines and angular strums, synthesised horns and harps, unruly beats, and unusual sound bites. The antithesis of background music, these songs leap from headphones much like an engrossing movie makes itself known on screen. Joviale's sonic references span Sade, Kate Bush, Janet Jackson, Todd Rundgren, '60s girl groups, Japanese composers, and "the freaky guys and girls and the divas of the '80s… glamorous rock'n'roll, Rick James, Prince, Quincy." Artists who prioritised playful ambition and bravado.

While set up as fictional abstractions, songs also reflect Joviale's lived-in experiences: broken-hearted letdowns, realisations, and the search for clarity and truth. Sequencing arcs upward and back down as if scaling its namesake. Lyrics detail dynamics between the self and others.

Beyond metaphorical mountains and murder mysteries, Joviale's debut album is a statement of artistic identity and purpose. A work that speaks to patience and collaborative ethos, surrendering oneself to music-making, and letting the process lead you somewhere new. Mount Crystal reveals itself as the pop record it's been reaching for. "We have come a long way," Joviale sings on the hand-clapped "Wishing"  - a second voice responds, "I go where I need to go" - and in that moment, in accord with their crew, Joviale confirms acceptance and the lesson learned, that life keeps going.

JAYWOOD ANNOUNCES THIRD ALBUM LEO NEGRO
DUE SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 VIA CAPTURED TRACKS
“ASSUMPTIONS” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9nIwkgGI4U
LIVE 11/02/26 botanique brussels

JayWood is the enigmatic, artistic outlet for boundary-pushing musician and singer-songwriter Jeremy Haywood-Smith. Though he was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in his native Canada – the renaissance creative currently resides in Montreal, QB, where he serves as a postal worker for his day job – that’s the least interesting thing about him.

He announces his mind-bending forthcoming album, Leo Negro, due for release September 5, 2025 on Captured Tracks. As displayed on the recently released, genre-blending singles “BIG TINGS” feat. Tune-Yards and “UNTITLED (Swirl),” JayWood can’t be pigeonholed, and album track “ASSUMPTIONS” is no exception to that rule. As trippy, and in-your-face as the whole album, the hip-hop production here is laced with psychedelic flourishes and a braggadocious, neo-soul energy owing as much to Tyler, the Creator as it does Stereolab and fellow Québécois indie darlings Men I Trust.

Speaking on the origins of the album title, JayWood laughs and says it "...came from the main concept of the album which is identity. I asked myself the question of ‘What are some things that make me who I am, no matter what changes occur in life?’ and funnily enough, I was getting really into astrology at the time due to fact that 70% of my friends are queer femmes. I was trying to understand what it means to be a Leo. On the other hand, I’m moving through life as a black man in spaces that don’t always understand me or will try to categorize me.”

He continues, “I know the main identifier for Leos is that they’re super confident and massive social magnets and leaders, but in recent years, I've had a harder time leaning into that specific energy, so I started to just dismantle the idea of confidence and leadership by doing somewhat of the opposite. I started to get more vulnerable and share more things about myself: insecurities, fears, anxieties, my scarier truths and my experiences as a black person. Through that, I weirdly started to feel a little more confident. Which brings me to my last point about the title. I now live in Montreal and one thing I realized while trying to learn the language is that the descriptions of things are at the end. For example ‘black cat’ would be ‘chat noir,’ and if I look at my album title, it kinda translates to ‘black confidence’ in my mind."

On the song out, JayWood says “‘ASSUMPTIONS’ feels like it’s giving myself permission to step into some new sonic territory. It’s fun and playful while still being pretty focused and lyrically consistent, which is new for me. It's also one of the funniest songs I’ve ever written. It’s literally about my crippling imposter syndrome but at the same time, I'm staking my claim as a solid artist and a producer.”

The video’s director, Trent Wayne, while speaking on the production said “JayWood set the tone for us—playful, unpredictable, and musically rich— making a great foundation for the video. Inspired by the song’s genre-blending, we built a narrative to match: starting in a comically chaotic party scene, drifting into a Yo Gabba Gabba!-inspired graveyard, and featuring a cartoon version of Jay performing created by Pete Though, which was sent through a VCR for added analog grit. Our production designer, Sophia Kotowski, built a functional CD-player gravestone that became a psychedelic centerpiece. Collaborating with Captured Tracks to spotlight innovative artists like JayWood is a real privilege for our team.”

JULY 25 SINGLE AND VIDEO "place of my own" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTukPlUdunw

Trailblazing electronic pop duo Purity Ring announce their highly-anticipated self-titled LP due out on September 26 via the fellowship. Their new single, "place of my own" out today serves as a fresh preview to the album.

"place of my own", is a euphoric and pulsating 2025 trance anthem that takes us out of place and time. The words "all i want is a place of my own / some way to be alone" serve as a spell over the blissful synth melodies that have become a signature of Purity Ring's sound. The track takes the listener to a series of disappearing places: "come find me where the ocean's gleaming off the sky / come find me where the cliffside calls / we're out of time." Yearning for a sense of belonging amid places that are slowly fading out of view on a burning planet. This new single brings us the glimmering satisfaction we've come to expect from this duo, yet it lingers with the melancholy feeling of slipping away.
"This is one of those songs that came into being with ease and immediacy. We were in a hazy forest in the mountains, and the beat felt just like the cloud we were in. It was succinct and ready for the type of lyrics that imbued places we dream of, places we wish we could exist in, places we see everyday but are just out of reach. In the end, this song is meant as a sort of spell in the way that maybe we can reach these places if we watch our steps carefully, if we take the time to build them for ourselves."

Purity Ring's self-titled fourth album marks the beginning of a bold new chapter as the band's most immersive release to date. Long known for their fusion of body horror imagery and ethereal electronics, the duo now shift their focus from the physical to the fantastical, crafting a concept album that serves as the soundtrack to an imagined RPG. Inspired by games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X, the record tells the story of two hapless characters - embodiments of mj and Corin - on a journey to build a kinder world amid the ruins of a broken one. But this is no escapist fantasy: it is the first step of forbidden dreaming, of imagining a place where the vulnerable are heeded, where grief is spoken aloud and held collectively, where family is a verb rather than a noun, where hope and home can bloom together.
