Now acclaimed Musician, Poet, Director and Actor Saul Williams has announced his upcoming album 'Leap Life,' set for release 28th August on Big Dada. Named after his leap year birthday, 'Leap Life' arrives less like a conventional studio record and more like an invocation assembled in real time — a gathering of spirits, histories, frequencies and unfinished revolutions arranged through voice, rhythm and intuition.
It marks his first solo full-length work in seven years, and a return to the label where he originally released his first solo works – 1998's "Twice The First Time" and 'Elohim (1972)'. The debut single "Conspiracy," which features Gonjasufi and Moor Mother, arrives alongside the announcement. The track is paired with an official music video from director Cleon Arrey, whose previous credits include work with artists like Snoop Dogg, Akeem-Ali and A$AP Rocky. The record also includes notable contributions and collaborations from the likes of Carlos Niño, Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), Kamasi Washington, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Surya Botofasina.
For nearly three decades, Saul Williams has occupied a singular place in Black Culture, resisting the confines of genre across music, literature and film with almost militant consistency to use art as a transformative device. His extensive acting portfolio features performances in acclaimed films such as 'Sinners'—which earned a record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations—as well as 'Lackawanna Blues', 'Aujourd'hui–TEY', and 'New York, I Love You'. Additionally, Williams co-wrote and starred in the Sundance and Cannes award-winning film SLAM and recently marked his directorial debut with the feature "Neptune Frost". Beyond the screen, Williams recently debuted his first graphic novel, 'Martyr Loser King'. This multidisciplinary project integrates components from a touring dance production called The Motherboard Suite (made in collaboration with Bill T. Jones), a poetry collection, and three of his studio albums, including the titular LP.£
£With his upcoming record, 'Leap Life,' Williams expands the definition of what music itself can be, operating on the philosophy that "the voice is the instrument." Throughout the album, Williams speaks, chants, improvises and testifies over fluid arrangements that blur the lines between spoken word, jazz abstraction, hip-hop cadence, West African rhythmic logic, ambient composition and ceremonial sound design. Moving beyond traditional rhyme structures, the project embraces spontaneity, treating language as a rhythmic, vibrating force while capturing the essence of a jazz improviser chasing revelation in real-time, reflecting a lifetime of artistic preparation.
It's a risky process — surrendering control inside a medium built on permanence — but Williams sees revelation in that uncertainty. "What does it mean to trust the moment?" he asks.
That question echoes throughout 'Leap Life', an album focused on alignment: between the visible and invisible worlds, between living people and ancestral memory, between political struggle and endurance. Williams describes the LP as deeply informed by ideas of ceremony and shamanism. Not in the commodified Western sense of spirituality-as-aesthetic, but in the older understanding of music as a tool capable of carrying grief, resistance and healing simultaneously. Where contemporary culture often rewards distraction and emotional numbness, 'Leap Life' insists on intention and meaning.
The album operates almost like a carefully assembled spell, designed to evoke emotional movement within the listener. Nowhere is that clearer than in the album's recurring relationship to ancestry and martyrdom.
Williams openly describes the record as an attempt to commune with the dead. Watching the ongoing devastation across Palestine, Sudan, Haiti, Congo and Yemen, Williams found himself wrestling with questions about what happens to collective grief, where the energy of murdered people goes, how the living remain accountable to the dead and whether liberation movements require solidarity as much as political strategy. "We're going to need those spirits," he says. "There's an understanding that the soldiers in our struggle are not only the visible ones. There are people standing and fighting with us that we may not see."
That tension between accessibility and experimentation has defined Williams' career. He remains deeply interested in popular music while interrogating its limitations. "I'm either inspired or disgusted," he says with a laugh.
Still, 'Leap Life' never feels cynical. Much of that balance comes through the album's collaborative foundation with producer Carlos Niño, whose decades-long friendship with Williams stretches back to the late '90s, when Niño first invited the young poet to perform in Los Angeles. Though Williams composed much of the music, Niño helped shape the connective tissue between disparate ideas, contributing arrangements and musical direction across songs like "Baobab Constellations," "Great, Great-Grandmother," "13 Moons" and "Coming Forth."
Also significant to the album's coalescence is the work of Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), who helped shape the sound of three Leap Life songs: "I Think I Get It Now," "Controlled Is Not Controllable," and "Not Everything For Sale."
Equally intimate and cosmic, 'Leap Life' invites us to slow down and notice what's in front of us, and, most importantly, to see music as a weapon of change.

"Where's my Sally tonight?" Eindelijk is het zover: ROLE MODEL komt naar ons land! Op maandag 15 februari maakt de Amerikaanse singer-songwriter met zijn 'Chuck On Tour' een langverwachte stop in Vorst Nationaal in Brussel. De aankondiging volgt op de release van zijn nieuwe single "High Hopes 3000", een eerste voorproefje van zijn derde studioalbum 'Chuck Timely & The Hourglass', dat op 7 augustus verschijnt. Met de introductie van het mysterieuze alter ego Chuck Timely zette ROLE MODEL de afgelopen weken zijn fans wereldwijd aan het speculeren. Oude postkaarten, verborgen telefoonnummers en een mysterieus Instagramaccount vormden het startschot van een nieuwe muzikale era.
Sinds zijn debuutalbum 'Rx' uit 2022 heeft ROLE MODEL, geboren als Tucker Pillsbury, een opmerkelijk parcours afgelegd. Graspop 2026 – van 18 juni t-m 21 juni 2026 - Een samensmelting van harde genres en metalfans
"It's The Final Countdown." Een meer toepasselijke soundtrack voor de slotdag had Graspop Metal Meeting 2026 zich nauwelijks kunnen wensen. Terwijl Europe eerder vandaag de laatste uren van het festival inluidde, blikt een volledig uitverkochte festivalweide terug op vier dagen vol memorabele concerten, zwoele temperaturen, dreigende onweerswolken en vooral een ongeziene liefde voor zware muziek.
Dessel was dit festivalweekend voor de 29ste keer het epicentrum van de internationale metalscene. Van compromisloze hardcore over thrash en folk metal tot nu metal, punkrock en metalcore: hier bestaan subgenres niet naast elkaar, maar door elkaar. Het leverde een reeks dagen op waarbij elke muziekfan aan zijn trekken kwam.
De toon werd gezet op de openingsdag. Terwijl de temperaturen richting tropische waarden stegen, zorgde de organisatie voor extra maatregelen zodat dagelijks 55.000 bezoekers veilig konden blijven genieten van de muziek. Van extra kraantjes met drinkbaar water, vernevelende waterkannonen, verkoelende ventilatie en gratis zonnecrème, tot crew die met waterslangen festivalgangers een verfrissende douche gaven.
Door de last-minute afwezigheid van Tom Morello werd Bulls On Parade een van de verrassingen van de eerste dag. De Belgische Rage Against The Machine-tributeband werd naar voren geschoven en hun optreden groeide uit tot een onvoorziene liefdesbrief aan een van de meest invloedrijke rockbands. Within Temptation vierde vervolgens hun dertigste verjaardag in stijl. Megadeth, met Belgische drummer Dirk Verbeuren, kwam afscheid nemen na een succesvolle carrière en maar liefst negen passages op Graspop Metal Meeting. Dreigende onweerswolken boven Dessel? Die sloegen de Graspopper niet uit hun lood. "My Way Or The Highway": Limp Bizkit pakte de hele weide in met een mix van nostalgie, energie en een verrassend strakke opvoering. The Offspring sloot dan weer af met een hitparade die door tienduizenden festivalgangers woord voor woord werd meegezongen.
Vrijdag drukte Graspop Metal Meeting het gaspedaal nog wat dieper in. Frank Carter & The Sex Pistols zorgden voor een van de meest besproken passages van het weekend en bewezen dat punk ook in 2026 nog altijd kan bijten. Tussen al het brute geweld door zorgde Triggerfinger voor een Belgisch intermezzo. Ze hielden het publiek moeiteloos vast met hun kenmerkende groove. Na het ondergaan van de zon trok Knocked Loose als onverwachte headliner alle registers open en liet de festivalweide achter in gecontroleerde chaos. Volbeat koos daarna voor een andere aanpak, maar met evenveel impact: een sterke set vol klasse en hits.
Zaterdag draaide om de botsing tussen verleden en toekomst. Malevolence legde al vroeg de lat hoog met een loodzware portie hardcore en thrash, terwijl Sepultura na meer dan veertig jaar voor het laatst nog eens alles gaf voor het Graspop Metal Meeting-publiek. Toen de avond viel, nam de nieuwe generatie het volledig over. Bad Omens maakte een indrukwekkend Graspop Metal Meeting-debuut en bevestigde meteen hun status als publieksfavoriet. Bring Me The Horizon sloot af met een show die perfect samenvatte waar moderne metal vandaag voor staat. Het hoogtepunt volgde tijdens 'Kingslayer', toen BABYMETAL mee het podium op kwam voor een explosieve uitvoering van hun collab.
Op deze laatste festivaldag krijgen de gevestigde waarden opnieuw het woord. Europe, Extreme en Foreigner bewezen al vroeg dat ervaring en herkenbaarheid nog altijd moeiteloos een festivalweide in beweging krijgen. Later op de avond staan met Alice Cooper (met zijn 78 jaar ook de oudste artiest), Def Leppard en afsluiter Sabaton nog enkele absolute publieksfavorieten op het programma. Tussendoor mag ook Electric Callboy de boel nog eens stevig door elkaar schudden met hun uitzinnige mix van elektronica, metal en humor. En precies daarin schuilt misschien wel de essentie van Graspop Metal Meeting: een plek waar klassieke rockiconen, moderne metalhelden en alles daartussen moeiteloos dezelfde festivalweide en liefde voor harde muziek delen.
Terwijl de laatste noten stilaan over de Stenehei weerklinken, draait achter de schermen al vier dagen lang een indrukwekkende machine onafgebroken op volle toeren. De organisatie bedankt graag alle medewerkers, vrijwilligers, hulpdiensten, partners, artiesten en bezoekers die van deze editie opnieuw een onvergetelijke ervaring maakten.
Een korte samenvatting van deze editie? De enorme muzikale verscheidenheid en de temperaturen waar zelfs de duivel jaloers op zou zijn, maar vooral dat unieke communitygevoel dat al jaren het kloppende hart van het festival vormt. Van uitgelaten tieners tot doorwinterde metalveteranen: hier delen mensen uit alle generaties en subgenres dezelfde liefde voor het harde muziekgenre én voor elkaar. Dat gevoel van verbondenheid bleef het hele weekend voelbaar: festivalgangers zorgden goed voor elkaar en wie nood had aan een gesprek of iets wilde melden, kon steeds terecht bij het fantastische We Care A Lot-team.
Graspop Metal Meeting stond tijdens deze editie ook stil bij het overlijden van een festivalbezoeker en mede-metalhead. We dragen hem in gedachten mee, en onze liefde en steun gaan uit naar zijn familie, vrienden en naasten.
We went 'To Hell and Back', maar vanavond zingen we allemaal samen, uit volle borst mee met Sabaton. Zo sluit de Graspop Metal Meeting-familie opnieuw een editie af, vol liefde, verbondenheid en onvergetelijke momenten.
Genoeg teruggeblikt, tijd om vooruit te kijken. Op 17, 18, 19 en 20 juni 2027 keert Graspop Metal Meeting terug naar Dessel voor een bijzondere afspraak: de 30ste editie van het festival. Blokkeer alvast je agenda en bereid je voor op een gigantisch verjaardagsfeest.

Even voorstellen - La Fazani - new double EP project 'Ekstrovert and Introvert'
La Fazani announces two upcoming EPs, Ekstrovert and Introvert, arriving in June and November 2026. Originally imagined as one full-length album, the project slowly separated itself into two connected but opposite worlds.
La Fazani is the musical project of Arbër Salihu, a composer, producer and performer from Prishtina, Kosovo, known for blending Balkan musical traditions with hip hop, indie, electronic and alternative influences. Over the past years he has become one of the more distinctive voices in Kosovo's contemporary scene, moving between underground culture and mainstream recognition, including winning the first edition of Kosovo's national song festival in 2023 with the song "Oj Kosovë".
Built around the idea that identity is never just one thing, the project embraces contradiction instead of avoiding it. Introvert/extrovert. Freedom/commitment. Alternative/mainstream. Analog live music/electronic digital music. Old styles/new styles. Summer/winter. Mountain/sea. Rather than choosing one side, La Fazani treats these opposites as forces that constantly exist together.
The visual identity reflects this directly: two minimalist covers inspired by yin and yang symbolism, where each side quietly contains something from the opposite spectrum.
Recorded between Prishtina and Tallinn following La Fazani's Tallinn Music Week recognition and residency at Selektor Studio in Telliskivi, the music moves through a surprisingly wide sonic palette. Reggaeton rhythms, afrobeat grooves, pop structures, drum'n'bass energy, indie textures and hip hop influences all appear throughout the project. Underneath the accessible surface sits highly detailed songwriting, unusual harmonic movement, unexpected structures, and the sensibility of a formally trained composer.
All lyrics are in Albanian, often blending Gheg and Tosk dialects in unusual ways, with Gheg remaining dominant. Many songs revolve around love, desire, ego, performance and self-image, while also offering a subtle critique of a hyper-materialistic reality where human worth is increasingly measured through clicks, likes, money and visibility.
The characters inside the songs often embody these modern value systems - superficial ambition, performative confidence, emotional confusion - while the music responds with irony, tenderness, absurdity or confrontation.
One of the key tracks from Ekstrovert, "Kena Tirshe," features MC Kresha and directly addresses collective social disorientation. The title itself flips the Albanian word "rreshqitje" ("slipping"), turning language into a metaphor for a society gradually losing balance.
While Ekstrovert leans toward warmer, playful, rhythmic and more immediate energy, Introvert moves deeper into obscure and experimental territory. Its full tracklist and featured collaborators will be revealed later.
At first listen, the project can feel light, humorous, danceable and direct. But underneath sits a layered body of work from an artist shaped equally by composition studies, underground culture, Balkan musical traditions, performance art and contemporary global production.
As La Fazani continues to blur the line between accessible and experimental, Ekstrovert / Introvert becomes less of a binary and more of a portrait of modern contradiction itself.

After the successful comeback of "Young Hearts", Belgian indie pop singer Isaac Roux returns with another new single "Missing Out", out today. "Am I Missing Out" captures the restless intensity of youth navigating confusion, desire, and self-discovery. The lyrics paint vivid, almost surreal imagery; "higher than hills," "burst through the ceiling underneath the train rails"—immersing listeners in a world of emotional highs, longing, and uncertainty. At its core, the song explores the tension between loneliness and connection, asking the universal question: Am I missing out? Lines like "tumbling around my bloodstream like a chemical spill" and "burning like a lemon haze" evoke both vulnerability and exhilaration, creating a hypnotic, dreamlike atmosphere. With its raw honesty and emotive energy, this track is a compelling anthem for anyone searching for meaning, love, and authenticity in a chaotic world.
For recording, the band retreated to a cottage at the foot of Mont Ventoux, where they set up a fully DIY recording process under the name "Studio La Pichounette". This approach resulted in a raw, more direct sound with a distinct sense of band chemistry. Following the recordings, they collaborated with the American producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Kurt Vile, Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie) on the final mix. Together with producer Bert Vliegen, Louis De Roo travelled to Bridgeport to put the finishing touches to the tracks in a studio rich in history. "Young Hearts" and "Missing Out" are two beautiful examples of the more versatile and energetic sound in which Isaac Roux reveals a different side of itself.
For those who are not yet familiar with Isaac Roux's work; Isaac Roux writes songs about the fragile moment when youth gives way to something that resembles adulthood. His music is threaded with nostalgia for adolescence, tempered by the realisation that growing up rarely comes gently. Following sets at Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter, Eurosonic, and the release of his debut album Troubled Waters (2024), Roux has begun to embrace the rough edges. His sound is looser, faster, and more lo-fi: propulsive electric guitars, playful yet daring arrangements, and rhythms that keep pushing forward. There are echoes of Beach Fossils and Day Wave, the melancholic undertones of The Cure, and the hazy, psychedelic textures of Tame Impala — all filtered through his own unpolished lens.

Het nummer werd voor het eerst live gespeeld tijdens de bomvolle Paradiso-show van Bazart in Amsterdam, waar Sef als verrassingsgast het podium betrad. De reactie van het publiek was zo positief dat al snel besloten werd om de samenwerking ook officieel uit te brengen.

Het is ondertussen meer dan drie jaar geleden dat FLEDDY MELCULY nieuwe muziek op de wereld losliet.
Nu is er dan ‘DOE UW WERK’, de eerste single van het uit te komen nieuwe vijfde album 'L’AVOCAT DU DIABLE'. Een song waarin Fleddy zijn observatie deelt dat het steeds meer opvalt dat heel wat mensen hun werk niet meer doen zoals het hoort.
Even belangrijk is dat Fleddy op deze song wordt bijgestaan door een niet nader genoemde engelenstem.
De band zal pas later bekendmaken wie deze mysterieuze engel is. Dus begin maar al te raden!

Triggerfinger – Through The Beam
De nieuwe single ‘Through The Beam’ biedt een intrigerend inkijkje in het zich verder ontwikkelende sonische landschap van de band, waarin rock samenkomt met ondertonen van funk en alternatieve pop. Staccato ritmes en met fuzz doordrenkte leadgitaren, pulserende synthbas en strakke, krachtige drums geven het nummer een gevoel van constante beweging, terwijl Rubens vocals er als een waas van melancholie en melodie doorheen prikken.
Hun album ‘Tarmac’ verschijnt op 18 september.

James Horner - Back to Titanic
‘Back to Titanic’ is het tweede album dat verscheen als soundtrack voor de blockbuster ‘Titanic’. James Horner creëerde een nieuwe suite van licht en donker om de ziel van de originele score weer te geven. Zo speelde hij een solo pianostuk in ‘The Portrait’ en werden er nieuwe suites opgenomen door het London Symphony Orchestra en de Choristers of King's College. De soundtrack opent met de 19 minuten durende suite ‘Titanic Suite’, meteen een hoogtepunt die de essentie van de film weergeeft. Op ‘Epilogue - The Deep and Timeless Sea’ verwijst James Horner subtiel naar het hoofdthema van ‘Titanic’. Deze soundtrack verschijnt als een limited edition van 1.500 genummerde stuks op violet gekleurd vinyl met een 4 pagina booklet met liner notes van regisseur James Cameron.
