MEROL komt binnenkort met een nieuw album en daar kijken de fans duidelijk naar uit! De show in Het Depot in Leuven op zaterdag 28 november is op enkele tickets na uitverkocht. In 2018 lanceerde MEROL – de artiestennaam van Merel Baldé – zichzelf als een raket de popmuziek in met de hitsingle "Lekker Met De Meiden". Sindsdien is ze niet meer te stoppen. Met haar brutale, eigenwijze en directe Nederlandstalige elektropop weet ze de tijdgeest feilloos bloot te leggen. Ze zingt over seks, feminisme en alles daaromheen, verpakt in onweerstaanbaar catchy synthpop. Sinds haar doorbraak speelde ze zalen zoals Ancienne Belgique, De Vooruit en Lotto Arena plat en stond ze op festivals als Pukkelpop en Rock Werchter. Voor haar nieuwe album 'Leve de Feeks', dat verwacht wordt op 1 mei, werkte ze samen met producer Jeroen De Pessemier (bekend van o.a. The Subs en Oscar and the Wolf). Geïnspireerd door artiesten als Peaches, Wet Leg, Amyl and the Sniffers en Björk creëerde ze wilde elektropunk met rock- en techno-invloeden. Ze blaast de term 'feeks' nieuw leven in en bevrijdt zichzelf van alle schaamte die ze heeft over haar lichaam, haar seks en haar kinderwens.

De Schotse band The Snuts is terug! Hun debuutalbum W.L. (incl. hits "Always" en "Glasgow") uit 2021 werd een glorieuze start van hun carrière en haalde zelfs de eerste plek in de album charts. Na passages op o.a. Rock Werchter en met meer dan 80.000 verkochte tickets in het VK, keren ze nu terug met nieuwe impulsen en staan ze aan de vooravond van hun grootste hoofdstuk tot nu toe. De eerste single "Summer Rain" verscheen in het begin van 2026 en krijgt nu een vervolg.

De nieuwe single "Motherlands'" klinkt groots en meeslepend, met hun herkenbaar indierockgeluid dat balanceert tussen rauwe intensiteit en warme melodieën. OVER THE SNUTS
The Snuts zijn een Schotse indierockband uit West Lothian, geroemd om hun meezingbare refreinen, rauwe eerlijkheid en sterke DIY-mentaliteit. Ze combineren gitaar gedreven pop met emotionele scherpte om de moderne jeugdcultuur, veerkracht en gemeenschapszin in het hedendaagse Schotland te weerspiegelen. In 2021 braken ze razendsnel door met hun debuutalbum W.L. een nummer 1 in de albumcharts te halen.

After the passing of Lee "Scratch" Perry, a deluge of recordings appeared claiming to be the "last" or "final" project of the Jamaican icon. However, his last official album project took him to Berlin, Germany where he landed on the doorstop of electronic pioneers Mouse on Mars (aka Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma). The resulting album Spatial, No Problem. will be released on June 5th.
Alongside the album announcement, the first single from the record has been shared today, "Rockcurry." The opening song from Spatial, No Problem., "Rockcurry" is indicative of Perry's time in Berlin, where he was drawn into the soundworld of his "German Professors" in their "German laboratory," taking to the group's blend of motorik rhythmic elements with free improvisation, digital glitches, dada poetry and the dubby "voodoo" he always insisted haunted our machines. Whilst Perry was keen to not do a reggae album with Mouse on Mars, he was too much a part of reggae to disavow it, and the weight of that legacy is present in every track they recorded.
The video for "Rockcurry," directed by Studio Sparks, uses photos from the recording sessions, drawings and found objects collaged together to create a vibrant and energetic ode to Lee "Scratch" Perry and Mouse on Mars' time in the studio.
Back to Berlin - the first question was why Lee "Scratch" Perry was coming in the first place. Reasons were vague then and remain so now. Rumours of a record label connection. A backstory about a friend who'd worked with Mouse on Mars on Tromatic Reflexxions, their 2007 collaboration with late postpunk luminary Mark E Smith under the name Von Südenfed.
Mouse on Mars prepared as much as you can for the arrival of someone who had attained mythic status while still very much alive. Still, Lee "Scratch" Perry's arrival at Mouse on Mars's Paraverse Studio in Berlin, December 2019, was a surprise. Dates kept fluctuating. Schedules kept shifting. There was also that infamous unpredictability. If he was coming, which one of his personae would arrive? The Upsetter, Pipecock Jackxon, The Super Ape? Maybe Inspector Gadget, or The Firmament Computer.
Behind these masks was Rainford Hugh Perry, often described as one of the single most important figures in the history of Jamaican music. Producer, engineer, label owner, performer, his impact traced ska to rocksteady to roots reggae, to sound systems, to dub, to Bob Marley and Junior Murvin and Max Romeo and The Congos and so many other legends. Generations passed through him and his ears. And beyond them his influence included punk, funk, electronic music, hip and trip hop as well as his own uncategorizable career as explorer of words, sounds and esoteric concepts. Such a man could only be imagined through science fiction, surrealism, bush magic and what some still call Afrofuturism.
At some point this innovator made the decision to collaborate with Mouse on Mars. But did he really know who they were? That was the second question, also still unanswered. Mouse on Mars are recognised as one of Germany's most defining and versatile electronic music projects. Across more than 3 decades, they've released over 10 albums including Niun Niggung (1999) and Idiology(2001) - the former was declared the Album of the Year by The Wire – several EPs, an imagined film score for Werner Herzog's Fata Morgana and many more idiosyncratic projects. They're also known for their work with Stereolab, Bon Iver, Tyondai Braxton, The National, Matthew Herbert, Modeselektor, Tortoise - had Lee heard their music? All the group knew was they had been chosen.
Perry wasted no time. He opened his traveling suitcase and brought out knickknacks, icons, images, stickers, talismans. With pens and markers, he wrote further slogans and ideas on walls and surfaces. Perry also transformed the studio with sound. Chanting, singing and mumbling in rhythm, communicating in murmurs, coughs and sly glances. Doing rude and loving damage to words. The musicians followed him, recording all the time. Jan St. Werner talks about the instinctual recording process: "We hardly spoke about what we were doing. We met and got going. He was laughing a lot and we laughed along. We also cooked and ate fish soup and papayas."
As devout explorers of sound themselves - Jan St. Werner is a professor of Sound Practice Research at Folkwang University – perhaps Mouse on Mars working with Lee "Scratch" Perry was always destined to happen, a match made in the cosmos.
Once upon a time, Mouse on Mars asked Lee "Scratch" Perry about space, Jamaican fish stew was in the air. Specifically, they asked of his familiarity with Spatial Audio and multi-channel sound diffusion. His response provides not only the title of this epic collage of genres, but the very method of its making. "Spatial," he said, grinning, "No problem." And then just like that he was gone. Back to Switzerland where there were rumours of a second Black Ark Studio and then to join his and our sonic ancestors. Spatial, No Problem. is the story of what Lee "Scratch" Perry left behind in Berlin in his encounter with Mouse on Mars. It's a story of spaces mixing, and cultures morphing towards a different kind of future.
Additionally, as part of the Barbican's Project A Black Planet exhibition, The Pit will be transformed into a specially commissioned immersive environment that will explore Spatial, No Problem. from June 5th to June 13th. This world-exclusive installation will present the album in spatial audio on a specially installed D&B Soundscape soundsystem alongside in-person events which foreground how the music became a resonant medium for Black consciousness, cultural resistance, and the expression of a shared African heritage across the diaspora. Even voorstellen – VLB – ‘Race tegen mezelf’ EP
Sinds 25 maart is Race Tegen Mezelf, de nieuwe EP van de Gentse rapper VLB, volledig uit. Tegelijk schuift hij 'Beetje' naar voren als focus track. Die EP is vanaf nu te beluisteren.
'Beetje' is een introspectieve track die vertrekt vanuit een diep gevoel van onbegrip. VLB schetst hoe het is om zich niet gehoord te voelen door de buitenwereld, om zich een buitenbeentje te weten in een samenleving die snel oordeelt. De frustratie tegenover die constante stroom van verwachtingen en commentaar sijpelt door in elke lijn. Toch evolueert de track gaandeweg: van weerstand en vervreemding naar een vorm van berusting. In de slotfase maakt die spanning plaats voor zelfaanvaarding en een voorzichtig vertrouwen — het besef dat het misschien volstaat om jezelf te zijn, los van wat anderen denken.

Met Race Tegen Mezelf bundelt VLB deze persoonlijke zoektocht tot een samenhangend geheel. De EP voelt als een innerlijke dialoog waarin twijfel, zelfreflectie en groei elkaar afwisselen. Waar eerdere singles al de toon zetten, brengt de volledige release extra gelaagdheid en context, met 'Beetje' als emotioneel ankerpunt.
Even voorstellen – Pussydestroyers - single ‘Lovesong’
Theatermaakster Lieke Oolders heeft het gehad met het systeem, het patriarchaat en de algemene staat van de wereld. Om haar woede een uitlaatklep te geven, stampte ze een nieuw project uit de grond; Pussydestroyers werd een feministische rageroom, een knoeiharde punkband waarin ze met een sloophamer tegen de wereld tekeer kan gaan. Met de drie zwetende brokken testosteron die samen met haar op het podium staan, produceren zij rauwe, dreigende punk met noodzaak. Liekes teksten snijden met de overtuiging van een vrouw die niets te verliezen heeft.
‘Lovesong’ is de eerste single die hun debuutplaat aankondigt. Al snel wordt duidelijk dat het nummer allesbehalve een traditioneel liefdeslied is. Vanaf de eerste regel is het agressief, seksueel en provocerend. Lieke spuwt met beledigingen op een toxische relatie en zet een flink mes op de keel van een dominante partner. Seksualiteit wordt hier niet gepresenteerd als iets zachts of romantisch, maar als iets chaotisch, tegenstrijdig en destructief. Tegelijkertijd schuilt er ook een groot verlangen naar de ander in het nummer. Het sterke emotionele spanningsveld tussen intimiteit en vijandigheid grijpt bij de keel en dendert op de knoeiharde gitaren en schelle drums van de mannen die ze in haar vernielzucht met zich meesleurt.
Vanaf 16 april is ‘Lovesong’ te beluisteren.
Pussydestroyers wil zeer bewust hun muziek niet uitgeven via de grote kanalen als Spotify die auteursrechten aan hun laars lappen en een onethisch businessmodel hanteren. Om dezelfde redenen vindt je hen ook niet op sociale media.
Hun album komt uit op 2 mei uit op vinyl, vergezeld van een releaseshow in Stormkop, Antwerpen. Op 22 mei spelen ze hun releaseshow in Trefpunt in Gent onder de ‘Big Next’-noemer van Democrazy.

V2 records news – Monza – debuutplaat ‘Van God Los’ na 25 jaar opnieuw uit!
MONZA, Brengt voor het eerst in 25 jaar debuutplaat "VAN GOD LOS" uit, zowel digitaal als op vinyl

Monza's debuutplaat 'Van God Los' wordt voor het eerst zowel digitaal als op vinyluitgebracht. In 2026 is het vijfentwintig jaar geleden dat de band Monza de eerste van drie cd's uitbracht: 'Van God Los' was de titel, idem zoals de allereerste single (release op 10 maart 2001) van zowel groep als debuut-album.
In aanloop naar die re-release werden al vier singles opnieuw onder de aandacht gebracht, inclusief de clips die nooit in hi-res op Youtube te zien waren; 'Van God Los', 'De Stad Kan Zo Koud Zijn', 'Naïviteit' en 'De Ogen Van Jenny'.
Aan boord van de eerste Monza-bezetting - later volgden nog anderen - bleek zich straf volk te bevinden: naast zanger/tekstschrijver Stijn Meuris (ex-Noordkaap) waren ook drummer Mario Goossens (zie ook Noordkaap, Triggerfinger, Hooverphonic, Sloper en Bazart), gitarist Piet De Pessemier (oa. LeNoise, Mad About Mountains en Krakow), toetsenist David Poltrock (oa. Hooverphonic, De Mens, eigen albums, soundtracks en productiewerk) en de op jonge leeftijd in Parijs overleden jazzbassist Bart Zegers volop bezig om van de groep een unieke Nederlandstalige band te maken. Dat vertaalde zich live in erg intense concerten met een sfeer en muzikaliteit die zowel toen als nu moeilijk te vergelijken vallen.
Monza hield er na de drie cd's ('Van God Los' 2001, 'Grand' 2005 en 'Attica!' 2008) en ruim honderd shows mee op, ondermeer doordat de afzonderlijke leden met allerlei andere bands en projecten bezig waren. En ook wel doordat een reeks ambitieuze concerten in een rondreizende circustent financieel een zware dobber bleek te zijn... Hoe gaan zo'n dingen?
Maar dat eerste album bleef jeuken - en single 'Van God Los' ging een eigen leven leiden. Noem het gerust een classic, die zowel door Noordkaap in hun reünie-reeks als door Bazart wordt gespeeld, maar die ook in totaal andere versies overeind blijft. Een quote van Stijn Meuris in dat verband: 'Speel dat nummer achterstevoren op een panfluit en je brult het nog mee...' Laat ons dàt vooral niet proberen...
Wat wél dit voorjaar nog zal volgen. Is het nummer 'Van God Los' in een héél aparte aanpak. Meuris liep al langer met het idee rond om die track helemaal te ontmantelen en er samen met de oorspronkelijke leden een VeryExtended Version van te maken. Noem het desgewenst een compositie, noem het eender wat, maar 'Van God Los' als een kwartier durende track lijkt op wonderlijke wijze te lukken. Opgenomen in de eigen studios van David Poltrock en Mario Goossens is 'Van God Los' uitgegroeid tot een, euh... sonisch werkstuk, zo u wil.
Monza zal deze zomer ook live te zien zijn op verschillende Vlaamse podia en festivals. Alle tickets en info hier.

Unday records news - Tin Fingers raise the stakes with 'Balconies', their third album
Somewhere on a Greek island, in the middle of a hot summer, Tin Fingers set up their instruments in an old carpet factory. Four days. No long discussions, no endless takes. Just heat, sea air and the quiet pressure of time. The songs had already taken shape: written over three concentrated months by frontman Felix Machtelinckx on guitar, piano and vocals, now they simply had to breathe.
Those days on Hydra quietly shaped 'Balconies', the Antwerp band's third album. There was a rhythm to it: recording in the morning, swimming in the afternoon, returning to the songs as the light softened. Fingers got sore, takes happened quickly, and decisions were made on instinct. Years of playing together made it possible to move fast, trusting first impulses instead of chasing perfection.
The title acts as a guiding image. A balcony is a place to pause and look out, to watch the world pass by without fully stepping into it. That perspective runs quietly through the album: hotel rooms, passing landscapes, brief encounters, and the feeling of always being slightly on the move. Not heavy, just observant, like keeping notes while travelling.
Chance also found its way into the process. During the Hydra sessions, another recording was taking place nearby, with Maggie Rogers contributing backing vocals to a project for the Dalai Lama. The band briefly asked her to record a spoken-word intro, but the interest was not mutual. The voice that eventually opens the album appeared later, on the flight home, when Machtelinckx struck up a conversation with an American journalist seated next to him. Somewhere between departure and arrival, 'Balconies' found its opening.
Back home, the songs kept that summer feeling. Sometimes loud, sometimes reflective, always moving. 'Balconies' sounds like a band capturing something in real time: a few warm days, a shared space, and the decision to simply press record.

Muziekliefhebbers staan te popelen: een van de meest iconische figuren uit de internationale rockscene keert terug naar het podium! Jack White kondigt vandaag een nieuwe tour aan en België staat op het programma. Het rockicoon verwent zijn Belgische fans met niet één, maar twee concerten tijdens zijn 'Jack White Live 2026 Tour'! Op dinsdag 16 en woensdag 17 juni 2026 speelt hij in de intieme sfeer van Ancienne Belgique in Brussel.
John Anthony Gillis, beter bekend als Jack White, komt uit Detroit en groeide in zijn 25-jarige carrière uit tot een van de meest invloedrijke artiesten van de hedendaagse rock. Hij brak eind jaren 90 door met het minimalistische duo The White Stripes en maakte indruk met cultalbums als 'White Blood Cells' en 'Elephant'. Die platen brachten tijdloze klassiekers voort zoals "Fell in Love With a Girl' en het onmisbare "Seven Nation Army", waarvan de riff vandaag de dag in elk stadion ter wereld weerklinkt. Jack White is een multi-instrumentalist, producer en oprichter van het label Third Man Records. Naast zijn succesvolle solocarrière stampte hij ook baanbrekende projecten als The Raconteurs en The Dead Weather uit de grond. Zijn indrukwekkende palmares telt maar liefst twaalf Grammy Awards en een reeks bepalende albums, van 'Blunderbuss' (2012) en 'Lazaretto' (2014) tot zijn meest recente 'No Name' (2024). Dat laatste album nam hij volledig op in zijn eigen kenmerkende DIY-stijl in zijn eigen studio. Als virtuoos gitarist, geïnspireerd songwriter en magnetische performer blijft Jack White de grenzen van de moderne rock verleggen. From March 21 to 28, 2026, Tomorrowland Winter returned to Alpe d'Huez for another unforgettable chapter, transforming the snow-covered slopes into a magical playground where music, mountains, and people from around the world came together.
True to tradition, the festival was once again blessed with beautiful sunshine, while fresh snowfall on several days added an extra layer of magic, creating the ultimate winter experience and a perfect start to each day. Hannah Mae en BLØF hebben samen de single ‘Ik Ben Niet Meer Bang’ uitgebracht.
De song gaat over een gevoel van vertrouwen en veiligheid.
De song ontstond uit een schrijfsessie van Hannah Mae met BLØF-bassist Peter Slager,
producer Laurens Hof en songwriter Ruben van Hemmen.
Het was aanvankelijk niet de bedoeling om er een duet van te maken, maar tijdens het schrijfproces vroeg Hannah zich af hoe ‘Ik Ben Niet Meer Bang’ zou klinken met de stem van Paskal Jakobsen.

Hiqpy - Bowie’s Pressure
Hiqpy bouwt de spanning op richting hun debuutalbum 'Slow Death Of A Good Girl' (10 april) met de nieuwe single 'Bowie’s Pressure', een nummer dat draait om zelfacceptatie en de vrijheid om niet altijd sterk of perfect te hoeven zijn. De band benadrukt dat het oké is om soms “gewoon een loser” te mogen zijn en niet de schijn op te houden.
'Bowie’s Pressure' volgt eerdere singles als 'Something', 'Red Flag Magician', 'Girl In Red' en 'Youman', allemaal geproduceerd door Grammy-winnaar Danton Supple (o.a. Coldplay, U2, Elbow).
