Even voorstellen - Francis kondigt nieuwe single ‘Ease My Mind aan’, warme indiepop voor rusteloze gedachten

De Leuvense band Francis is terug met nieuw werk. Na hun eerdere singles en de veelbelovende EP Greenhouse zet de vijfkoppige groep opnieuw een stap vooruit met Ease My Mind, hun nieuwe single die binnenkort verschijnt.
Francis — bestaande uit Louise Beerts (zang), Arnaud Evens en Willem De Flander (gitaar), Flor Minten (bas) en Dries Janssen (drums) — brengt een warme mix van indiepop, soul en rock. Met zwevende gitaren, subtiele grooves en een meeslepende stem creëren ze een sound die tegelijk intiem en groots aanvoelt.
Ease My Mind gaat over het zoeken naar rust in periodes van innerlijke onrust. De song vertaalt dat gevoel in een warme, gedragen sound die troost biedt zonder zwaar te worden. Het nummer balanceert tussen kwetsbaarheid en hoop, en nodigt uit om even stil te staan in de drukte van alledag.
Voor deze release werkte de band opnieuw aan een sound die rijper, rijker klinkt. Daarmee bouwt Francis verder aan hun herkenbare stijl: melodieuze songs met emotionele diepgang en een natuurlijke flow tussen indie, soul en alternatieve rock.
Na de airplay van eerdere releases op onder meer Nostalgie en Radio Emotion blijft Francis verder groeien binnen het Belgische muzieklandschap. Ease My Mind vormt bovendien een volgende stap richting een groter geheel: de band werkt momenteel verder aan nieuwe muziek met het oog op een toekomstig album.

The Radar Station emerged in 2017 from the musical collaboration between brothers Brent Buckler (vocals, guitar) and Sander Cliquet (guitar, backing vocals, synths), creating a distinctive blend of indie rock with cinematic soundscapes. Fat Dog – the undefinable, undeniable, raucous South London band are back with a bang with their subtly named new single "Go Fuck Urself". With 80s-tinged, airy synths and dripping in melodica, "Go Fuck Urself" is three minutes of propulsive, jubilant electro-pop – an irascible, exasperated rant wrapped in joyous hooks and Balearic grooves.

As frontman, songwriter and chief rabble rouser Joe Love coolly sings: "Some jokers play the same old game / No one to annoy / Find a mirror and the person to blame," the song breaks out into a euphoric, technicolour anthem – an ode to escapism when the thing you are trying to escape is yourself.

Co-produced by Joe Love with Oli Bayston (mary in the junkyard, Kelly Lee Owens, Alexis Taylor), "Go Fuck Urself" follows Fat Dog's fantastic standalone singles "Pray To That" and "Peace Song" and their "brilliant, dark, and downright batshit crazy" (DIY)debut album WOOF. released in 2024.

The video - directed by Nine Screens (Dylan Coates and Travis Barton) - sees the band take to a wrestling ring to convey the message they must share with the world: "Go Fuck Urself."

"Go Fuck Urself" marks the band's return in 2026 and sets the stage perfectly for further new music to come. Alongside the single, Fat Dog have confirmed a mammoth UK & European headline tour including a hometown show at London's Brixton Academy on 24th October. Before that, the band will play their largest ever shows supporting the Foo Fighters at 3 European arena dates, support Kneecap at their Crystal Palace show in London alongside a summer of festivals including End of the Road, Dour, Reeperbahn, Bearded Theory and more. De grootste hits uit de Eurovisie-machine
Europeanen creëerden inmiddels meer dan 1,2 miljoen playlists rond het Eurovisiesongfestival op Spotify. Alleen al het afgelopen jaar werden inzendingen van het Eurovisiesongfestival meer dan 1,5 miljard keer gestreamd. Sinds zijn overwinning voor Nederland in 2019 is Duncan Laurence' "Arcade" uitgegroeid tot het meest gestreamde Eurovisienummer aller tijden op Spotify, met wereldwijd meer dan 1,5 miljard streams. Ook Rosa Linn's "Snap", dat Armenië vertegenwoordigde in 2022 en toen 20e eindigde, behoort tot Spotify's Billions Club en staat op de tweede plaats. Andere populaire inzendingen zijn Loreens "Tattoo" (Zweden, 2023), Måneskins "Zitti e Buoni" (Italië, 2021) en Alexander Rybaks "Fairytale" (Noorwegen, 2009).

Doorheen de jaren groeide het Eurovisiesongfestival uit tot een springplank voor internationale supersterren. Spotify-data tonen dat ABBA, dat Zweden vertegenwoordigde in 1974, vandaag de meest gestreamde Eurovisie-act ooit is, met meer dan 12,5 miljard streams wereldwijd over hun volledige catalogus. De Zweedse groep wordt gevolgd door Måneskin (9 miljard streams) en Céline Dion (7 miljard streams), die Zwitserland vertegenwoordigde in 1988.
Niet altijd de winnaar, wél de publieksfavoriet
Sommige inzendingen winnen de wedstrijd niet, maar vinden wel massaal hun weg naar het publiek. Zo groeide Rosa Linn's "Snap" uit tot een wereldwijde hit dankzij sociale media, ondanks de 20e plaats in 2022. Ook het Portugese "Deslocado", dat in 2025 slechts 21e eindigde, kende een opmerkelijk succes dankzij een virale trend waarbij gebruikers video's deelden van hun geboortedorp of plaats van herkomst. Het nummer werd uiteindelijk de meest gestreamde inzending van 2025.

Spotify merkt daarnaast duidelijke generatieverschillen op in luistergedrag. Bij Gen Z zijn Alexander Rybaks "Fairytale" (Noorwegen, 2009), Napa's "Descolado" (Portugal, 2025) en Joker Out's "Carpe Diem" (Slovenië, 2023) het populairst. Oudere generaties streamen dan weer vooral Duncan Laurence' "Arcade" (Nederland, 2019), Rosa Linn's "Snap" (Armenië, 2022) en Loreens "Tattoo" (Zweden, 2023).

Bestaat er een succesformule voor een winnende inzending?
Er bestaat natuurlijk geen vaste formule voor een winnend Eurovisienummer. Net dat maakt de wedstrijd elk jaar opnieuw zo onvoorspelbaar en bijzonder. Toch analyseerde Spotify alle winnende inzendingen uit de geschiedenis van het Eurovisiesongfestival, waarbij enkele opvallende patronen naar voren kwamen.

Volgens de analyse van de muzikale data ligt het ideale tempo voor een winnende inzending op 127 beats per minute (BPM), een evenwicht tussen energieke dansbaarheid en emotionele diepgang. Daarnaast blijkt Fa groot de ideale toonaard voor een succesvolle Eurovisie-inzending, gecombineerd met een klassieke 4/4-maat. Heldere melodieën, herkenbaarheid en een makkelijk mee te zingen refrein blijken daarbij belangrijke ingrediënten. Daarmee komt Johnny Logans winnende nummer "Hold Me Now" uit 1987 opvallend dicht in de buurt van de 'perfecte' Eurovisie-inzending: het voldoet aan al die criteria en klokt af op 126 BPM.

Op 22 mei 2026 brengt Coup Dur hun eerste EP The "English Want Coup Dur "uit via 62 Records. De fysieke 10" vinyl verschijnt via Precious Recordings of London, uit London :).

Wie ? Coup Dur is een yéyé-geïnspireerd twist-poptrio actief tussen Brussel, Straatsburg en Antwerpen. Met sprankelende, tedere Franstalige songs, doordrenkt van zuur romanticisme en garagerockaccenten, brengt de band een directe en energieke sound.  Opgericht eind 2025 is Coup Dur een yéyé-trio dat dus na het internet geboren werd. Samengesteld uit Avril De Broucker (Lavomatic) op gitaar, Clémence D'Hulst (Fake Empire) op bas en César Laloux (Ada Oda) op drums.
Bio: César Laloux is een veelzijdige Brusselse muzikant die zijn carrière begon als drummer bij de internationaal doorgebroken indieband The Tellers. Na jarenlang als percussionist bij BRNS te hebben gespeeld, profileerde hij zich steeds sterker als songwriter in eigen projecten zoals Italian Boyfriend en Mortalcombat. Zijn grote doorbraak als drijvende kracht kwam met de 'corona post-punkband 'Ada Oda, waarmee hij in een mum van tijd de Europese podia veroverde met 'Italiaanstalige' nummers. De Band ging onverwacht uiteen bij de release van hun tweede album in '25. Een coup dur dus, maar Cesar zat niet stil...

Yes, Virginia...(Tailor's Version) – the newly fashioned title which, of course, nods to Taylor Swift's reclamation of her early master recordings – follows the recent conclusion of The Dresden Dolls' 20-year contract with Roadrunner Records, allowing them the right to re-record the albums originally issued on the label. Recorded over several weeks in late 2025 at Boston, MA's Mad Oak Studios, the album was tracked almost entirely live with longtime collaborator Benny Grotto and mixed by Paul Kolderie, co-founder of Boston's iconic Fort Apache Studios (and sound engineer on the original 2006 Yes, Virginia...). The new recording sees The Dresden Dolls joined by guest vocalists Veronica Swift, who received a French knighthood and worldwide acclaim for her 2021 recording of the album's "Sing," and 2x RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon, an ardent supporter of the band who performed the album's "Me and the Minibar" with a full orchestra at her Carnegie Hall debut in 2025. The album also includes new front- and back-cover artwork by South African surrealist painter Niki McQueen.

ABOUT THE DRESDEN DOLLS:
Formed in Boston in 2000 after a chance meeting at a Halloween party, Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione established The Dresden Dolls as a singular force in the underground music and art scene. Their fusion of theatricality, punk energy, and cabaret sensibility helped define the "Punk Cabaret" genre.

The years that followed saw the band touring extensively around the world, with sold-out headline shows, shared stages with such artists as Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, The Cure, and Panic! at the Disco, a memorable New Year's Eve collaboration with the Boston Pops Orchestra at Boston's Symphony Hall, and festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Fuji Rock, and Glastonbury. Among their many accolades, The Dresden Dolls have received multiple Boston Music Awards, while artists like Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Lady Gaga, and Jinkx Monsoon have all publicly celebrated the band and Palmer's songwriting as influences on their own work.

The Dresden Dolls began an unofficial hiatus in 2008, pursuing wide-ranging creative paths. Viglione has performed with acts including Nine Inch Nails and Violent Femmes, while Palmer has built a multi-faceted solo career spanning theater, crowdfunding, and public speaking. Her 2014 memoir, The Art of Asking, became a New York Times bestseller while her celebrated TED Talk is currently poised to achieve a milestone 20 million views.
