On June 3, 2026, “Na Dem”, the new single by Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 featuring Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) on guitar, will be released. The track is produced by Femi Koleoso of Ezra Collective, whose distinctive touch brings fresh energy to a song that has already captured global attention in its live form.
Originally never recorded, “Na Dem” went viral last year through performance clips shared by Coachella and fan-shot videos circulating online, quickly becoming a standout moment in Seun Kuti’s live shows. This official release reimagines the track with a powerful studio arrangement and the unmistakable guitar work of Tom Morello.
“I strongly wanted to collaborate with Tom Morello because he represents the ultimate expression of protest music,” said Seun Kuti. “Beyond any musical genre, we need artists like him. Just as my father did in the past and I do now, we need to convey messages that make listeners reflect.”
Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has spent his career both preserving and evolving the Afrobeat tradition as leader of Egypt 80, his father’s legendary band. Across his career, he has released five studio albums, steadily building a reputation as one of the most vital voices in modern Afrobeat, known for his politically charged lyrics and electrifying performances. He is currently working on new music, signalling yet another evolution in his sound and message.
The release of “Na Dem” follows his critically acclaimed 2024 album Heavier Yet (Lay The Crownless Head), a bold and expansive project that further cemented his international reputation. The album featured collaborations with Damian Marley and Sampa the Great, while its deluxe edition included appearances from Pos (De La Soul), Adi Oasis, Kamasi Washington, and Alborosie, with production contributions from Lenny Kravitz. Supporting the album, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 performed over 130 concerts in just 13 months, touring extensively across Australia, South America, the United States, and Europe.
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 will embark on a new world tour beginning May 7, 2026, in Barcelona. The tour will travel through the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand, before heading to the United States for two special performances this fall: My Life in Movement on October 9 in Los Angeles at The Regent Theater, and October 14 in New York at Webster Hall. Family Stereo is het alter ego van singer-songwriter Blake Watt, die op 31 juli zijn debuutalbum The Thread uitbrengt.
The Thread is een verzameling van op folk geïnspireerde songs die op subtiele wijze reflecteren op afstand en verbondenheid. It is not easy listening. It's essential.
Over the last two decades, Protomartyr—vocalist Joe Casey, drummer Alex Leonard, bassist Scott Davidson, and multi-instrumentalist and co-producer Greg Ahee—have built one of the most rewarding and often exhilarating bodies of work in recent memory by veering in and out of darkness, grappling with what most frightens us, saddens us, disgusts us, embarrasses and enrages us, and with a gallows humor for the ages, gives a sense of the comedy inherent in so much that we encounter. Essentially, the stuff that makes us human.
Casey has imagined his country as an aging hotel here, each song a room haunted by its own troublesome guest, as on today's "Sounds We Cannot Hear," which arrives with a video starring Nate Varrone (Maddie's Secret and The Bear). The song finds Casey examining the slow paralysis of modern life: "The scroll deforms the day // Poet screamed, "Goodbye everybody!" // Leaping from the liner Orizaba // As it traversed the Caribbean Sea // A new vulgar company is targeting me."

Musically, Ahee has built worlds within a world, drawing new influence from the Middle East and '50s exotica, finding common ground between dread and joy, a speciality. All of it—Leonard's drumming in particular—is rendered more tangible and terrifying by Fridmann, whose son, Jon, contributes horns. You can feel the stakes in every song, feel the band levitating to meet them. They've never sounded more powerful. Take it from someone who knows: Iggy Pop.
What is a Protomartyr? I don't really know, but I imagine it may refer to an earthly being who wants a little more than the usual shit out of life. A person or persons who want to be part of something beautiful and interesting, with the understanding that you may pay a price for that, and that others who come after will have an easier time. Kind of like Jesus.
So then there is Protomartyr the band. Four guys who are very, very skilled musicians and creators who I suspect would be totally fucked without the intervention of their talents, which are considerable.
They are, to put it crudely, a kind of rock band out of Detroit. That's a subject I know something about.
And they've made a new album. It is highly themed and symphonic in its reach. I could call it a kind of drive-through Sgt. Peppers, but that would miss the mark. This record is Wagnerian, it reminds me very much of the Opera Tristan and Isolde (by Richard Wagner). Musically, it sounds modal, and kind of chromatic, like I imagine Celtic war horns might sound in some forgotten battle. The singer, Joe Casey, is blessed with a beautiful voice that you want to listen to, but he stays perverse enough to keep things interesting when he wants to get petulant or a little bitchy.
One of my favorite moments on the record is when he simply announces, all alone, "We got a bad review." Which presides a furious outpouring from the entire group. Wow! I wish I thought of that! And in today's world, how relatable! Who hasn't gotten a bad review? Plumbers, shoe salesmen, etc etc etc. right up to Influencers. All is reviewed... I'm trying hard not to let this attempt at biography turn into a review, but hey, I've been listening to these guys for quite a while now and I get the feeling that they are a slow growth item, something that is gaining followers, listeners, and respect little by little, over the long haul. There's a lot of content here. The four of them can shift rhythms and harmonics very, very smoothly in a way that seems effortless. It's the mark of fine arts in a popular group.

Op 19 augustus brengt de jonge zangeres Lilly haar nieuwe single "Als Ik Je Negeer" uit.
Het nummer gaat over iets waar veel tieners dagelijks mee worstelen: onzekerheid.
Hoewel sociale media vaak een perfect plaatje laten zien, ervaren veel jongeren onzekerheid over zichzelf, hun uiterlijk, vriendschappen en de vraag of ze wel goed genoeg zijn. Toch vinden veel meiden het lastig om daar openlijk over te praten.
Lilly besloot dat wel te doen.
Met "Als Ik Je Negeer" vertaalt zij gevoelens die veel jongeren herkennen naar muziek.
Het nummer laat horen wat er achter een afwijzende houding of stilte kan schuilgaan: twijfel, onzekerheid en de zoektocht naar jezelf.
"Veel meiden houden hun gevoelens voor zichzelf omdat ze bang zijn voor de mening van anderen.
Ik hoop dat mensen zich herkennen in het nummer en begrijpen dat ze niet de enige zijn die zich soms onzeker voelen."
De nieuwe single laat niet alleen een volwassenere kant van Lilly horen, maar ook een krachtiger en professioneler geluid dan haar eerdere releases.
Muziek blijkt vaker een manier om maatschappelijke en persoonlijke onderwerpen bespreekbaar te maken.

Even voorstellen - Debuutalbum van de post-punk band Opus Kink, ‘the sweet goodbye’
Met hun ongrijpbare mix van punk, jazz en country heeft Opus Kink zich ontwikkeld tot een van de meest eigenzinnige bands uit de Britse underground. Sinds hun ontstaan in Brighton in 2017 staan ze bekend om hun intense liveshows en een geluid waarin post-punk, no wave, folk, cabaret en country samenkomen.
