Three years after their successful debut "out of place", Kids With Buns, the indie pop duo of Amber Piddington and Marie Van Uytvanck, are happy to announce they will be releasing their sophomore album "bell jar" on October 16, pre-save here. The album announcement goes in hand with a new single "car crash", perhaps the most surprising Kids With Buns song yet, and that's intentional. It dives into the magnetic pull of toxic lovers and the saviour complex that comes with it, but does so in a sound you've never heard from KWB before: groovy, danceable, and mischievous, with a production that pushes further than anything the band has done so far. A car crash you can't and don't want to look away from.
The album title "bell jar" is a reference to Sylvia Plath's famous semi-autobiographical novel. "The theme of The Bell Jar is how every process in your life is actually circular, regarding the healing from mental health issues," says Amber. " When things get better, they will also get worse, and at some point, that becomes a very present theme in our lives. We felt that we kept falling into certain patterns."
"The earth's orbit can sometimes be as infuriating as it is inevitable. The sun gives just as it takes away, and perhaps the romantic soul would deem this nature's humble trial on how to navigate the darkness."
Much of the album's material was written during those spells of scrambling through the darkness. The grief of processing two simultaneous breakups vs. the joy of being two songwriters who compliment each other so very potently. It's, in a way, its own cyclical process, one that kept two souls afloat when that larger cycle fractured.
One of the duo's biggest growth spurts since Kids With Buns' 2023 debut LP Out of Place has been honing a newly-hatched cinematic depth. "With this album, we just had a much clearer and stronger idea of how the songs should sound," says Marie. "Not only arrangement-wise, but the production as well. The majority of this album materialised during writing sessions in Amber's bedroom, right in the middle of our grieving process."
A big catalyst in fleshing the songs out further was working with Lucy Dacus-producer Jacob Blizard, who they met at a festival in the Netherlands. After Jacob shot the duo a message to collaborate, before they knew it, Amber and Marie packed their bags to Philadelphia to record some of the demoed material with him.
Marie: "We started out with Kids With Buns at age 18 and 20 respectively, and we were not trained musicians by any means. To be able to put that complete puzzle together; the arrangement, the songs, the production everything contributes to the whole of a song. We have had the privilege of learning it by doing it, from the bedroom to the stage. And we see the potential in each other's ideas where no one else would."

Sommige bands maken muziek die je hoort, anderen maken muziek die je voelt. Kingfishr hoort zonder twijfel bij die laatste categorie. Op woensdag 2 december brengt de band hun Ierse indiefolk naar De Roma in Antwerpen, waar hun grootse en tegelijk intieme songs het perfecte decor vinden. De drie muzikanten veroveren in sneltempo steeds meer harten en zetten hun sterke opmars verder met een passage op de Main Stage van Rock Werchter deze zomer, nadat ze vorig jaar al de Marquee op Pukkelpop en La Madeleine volledig inpakten. Kingfishr is een driekoppige band uit Ierland, ontstaan uit een vriendschap tussen drie studenten aan de Universiteit van Limerick. Hun naam verwijst naar de ijsvogel (kingfisher), die net als hun muziek kleurrijk en levendig is. De band combineert folk, rock, elektronica en elementen van spoken word tot een meeslepende en emotioneel geladen sound. Hun debuutalbum 'Halcyon' verscheen vorig jaar en schoot meteen naar de eerste plaats van de Ierse albumcharts, terwijl ook ver daarbuiten hun populariteit blijft groeien. Met meer dan 400 miljoen streams wereldwijd, ruim 2 miljoen maandelijkse Spotify-luisteraars en een steeds groter wordende fancommunity is Kingfishr uitgegroeid tot een van de meest opvallende nieuwe namen uit Ierland. Ook hun doorbraaksingle "Killeagh" groeide uit tot een echte publieksfavoriet en werd in Ierland al een anthem op zich.
Na de release van "The Blade" eerder dit jaar verscheen gisteren met "The Sun Will Never Settle" alweer een vers nummer, een volgende stap in de verdere groei van Kingfishr. Voor hun passage in Antwerpen lijkt de locatie bovendien haast gemaakt voor hun muziek: de warme sfeer en karaktervolle uitstraling van De Roma sluiten perfect aan bij de rijke, emotionele klankwereld van de band. Hun songs zullen er nog meer tot leven komen en van deze concertavond een bijzondere ontmoeting maken tussen muziek en decor.

Het Gentse trio NEVEL! breidt hun muzikale universum uit met hun nieuwste single Vice Versa. Het trio bestaat uit ervaren muzikanten Robbe Malschaert (BLUAI), Arno Grootaers (Dishwasher_) en Tuur Geldhof (Frans Kalf). In hun samenkomst verenigen zij geluiden uit diepe hoeken van de menselijke psyche, die afdwalen naar droomwerelden. Na een uitverkocht concert in Ancienne Belgique in 2025 keert Kehlani terug naar België met een spectaculaire show tijdens 'The Kehlani World Tour'. Op 1 december 2026 betreedt de Amerikaanse artieste het podium van Vorst Nationaal voor haar grootste Belgische concert tot nu toe. Deze nieuwe tour volgt op de release van 'Kehlani', haar vijfde studioalbum dat op 24 april verscheen. Het is een bijzonder persoonlijk en ambitieus project dat een nieuwe mijlpaal markeert in haar indrukwekkende carrière. Ze brengt voor de gelegenheid Odeal en WASEEL mee als special guests.

In April, following a two-year hiatus, the Nijmegen-based art rock band De Staat made their return with the much-talked-about single 'THE KING'. It now turns out to be a preview of their new album 'DE STAAT' ('THE STATE'), due for release on 18 September via V2 Records. The second single, 'THE FIRE', is out today; a driving track with a confrontational message. The new work is accompanied by an art installation and a conceptual live show, De Staat Becomes De Staat.
Themes such as power, manipulation, misinformation and autocracy have featured in De Staat's work before, but never with such urgency as now. Frontman Torre Florim on the album: "As a band, we've often explored themes such as power, faith and the increasingly blurred line between reality and fiction. The current world has drawn us further down that dark path, and it suddenly feels as though the name we came up with 25 years ago has taken on a deeper meaning. As if we've been unconsciously working towards this all along. That's why our seventh album is called DE STAAT.
"THE FIRE is about the comfortable assumption that the world's disasters will stay safely on the other side of the screen. We hang in that quiet space between knowing and doing — and from this side, it's easy to mistake one for the other."
The upcoming Dutch live show is developed in collaboration with director Floor Houwink ten Cate (Battlefield of Dreams, Brabo Leone), contemporary audiovisual artist Boris Acket (Joep Beving, Fred Again..), lighting designer Freek Ros (Wende, Altın Gün), visual artist Tarik Barri (Thom Yorke, Nicolas Jaar) and audio designer Reinier Rietveld (Craigie Horsefield). The highly topical concept resonates with today's dystopian fears as never before. Next to these three exclusive shows the band will also perform regular lie shows throughout the EU and UK.

Morgan Jay, muzikant en comedian uit Los Angeles, heeft een unieke stijl ontwikkeld waarin live performance en comedy naadloos samenkomen. Als zoon van immigranten in de VS haalt hij muzikale inspiratie uit zijn Braziliaanse en Italiaanse roots, gecombineerd met invloeden uit de jaren 90. Lauded singer-songwriter Grace Cummings has released 'My God' the first single to be taken from her upcoming album Bloodhorse!, also announced today for release on the 14th August on ATO Records.
After quietly building a fanbase in her native Australia with a string of impressive releases, Cummings garnered international attention when her third album, Ramona, earned widespread critical acclaim in 2024. Bloodhorse!, like its predecessor, was recorded in Topanga Canyon,
California with GRAMMY-nominated producer Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Margo Price).
'My God' comes replete with a homespun video by director Ben Portnoy. The song itself is a haunting piano track centered around Cummings' deep, breathy vocals, recorded while she was suffering from pneumonia. "Lyrically, this song is about hatred, jealousy, rage. The God here is the dark forces that are wrapping around us, that we scroll through, the toxic energy that binds us together in this modern world, and the fear we feed it every day", explains Cummings.
Bloodhorse!'s producer, Jonathan Wilson - recently nominated for a GRAMMY for his work on Father John Misty's Chloe and the Next 20th Century - shares: "With Grace Cummings, you actually have a once in a generation voice. Everyone who hears her sing would agree with that. Beyond that, her songwriting and lyrical prowess is just getting better and better. I'm proud as punch of this new album. It's a superb collection of songs that she delivers with humanity, power and emotion like no one else on earth."
Says Cummings of the album's title, "A bloodhorse is a horse expected to be a winner. But they can often also be temperamental, fearful, fragile and easily broken. Sometimes I feel like I'm a trapped animal. And...when I go to sleep, sometimes it's like I'm in the gate, twitching. And as soon as I open my eyes, I'm fucking running."
Fight or flight is the fuel that powers Bloodhorse!, her fourth full length album - a bold, lush and, at times perversely provocative journey through the anxieties, confessionals, hopes and nightmares of one of Australia's most acclaimed performers.
The album finds Cummings swooping from gorgeous to grotesque, velvet and violent, sacred and profane. If Ramona was a dusky expansion of Cummings' universe from folk artist to widescreen, Bloodhorse! is a leap deep into the night... headlights off.
"In the past few years I've gone through one of the biggest personal changes of my life," says Cummings. "Bloodhorse! is an attempt to express the things I can't say. A confession, an act of courage. For no one else but me. And it's me deciding to represent, not necessarily the way life is, but the way it feels."
And those feelings are big. Themes of life, death, agency, abuse and self-examination - both psychic and physical - pump through the lyrics of Bloodhorse! It brings a new dynamic of sound: shuddering synths, tense strings, and woozy grooves, joining Cummings' knack for campfire melodies, expressive piano and uniquely soulful voice. What unites it is the thrill of hearing Cummings' push at the edge of her own understanding.

Na vier jaar afwezigheid maakt Syd een langverwachte comeback met "Callin'", een single die even zacht als betoverend is. Dit nummer luidt haar exclusieve Europese tournee in én de release van 'Beard', haar derde soloalbum dat op 17 juli verschijnt. Op zondag 6 september 2026 houdt Syd halt in Brussel voor een niet te missen concert in Ancienne Belgique.
De artieste uit Los Angeles is een veelzijdig talent: ze is zangeres, songwriter, artistiek directeur en arrangeur, maar evengoed regisseur, editor en ondernemer. Al op 15-jarige leeftijd leerde ze zichzelf muziek opnemen, componeren en produceren. Haar thuisstudio werd al snel de uitvalsbasis van het beroemde hiphopcollectief Odd Future, met onder meer Tyler, The Creator en Earl Sweatshirt. Op haar achttiende begon ze te dj'en en ging ze met het collectief op wereldtournee. Daarna sloeg ze haar eigen weg in. Ze richtte mee de band The Internet op, bracht zes albums uit bij een major label (waarvan twee solo) en sleepte een Grammy-nominatie in de wacht. 'Beard', dat deze zomer wordt verwacht, markeert haar grote muzikale comeback. Dit derde soloalbum is haar eerste in vier jaar tijd en volgt op 'Broken Hearts Club' (2022) en haar debuutalbum 'Fin' (2017). Het album is mede geproduceerd door Syd zelf en bevat bijdragen van namen als Raphael Saadiq, Big Sean en Rodney Jerkins. Het album wordt opgevat als een intiem en spiritueel groeiproces. De titel verwijst naar het lichte donshaartje boven haar bovenlip: een symbool van zelfvertrouwen en totale zelfacceptatie. Of ze nu schrijft en produceert voor Beyoncé, samenwerkt met bladen als i-D of GQ, zich inzet voor het goede doel in LA of vintage vrachtwagens restaureert; Syd blijft grenzen verleggen. Ze herdefinieert wat het betekent om een 'multitalent' te zijn. Mis haar passage in Ancienne Belgique op 6 september niet!
