Lawijtstrijd - Lawijtstrijd - Muziekconcours Waasland
LAWIJSTRIJD, het legendarische muziekconcours van het Waasland is terug in een samenwerkingsverband van De Casino Concertzaal, Lokerse Feesten, Crammerock en jeugdhuizen Den Eglantier (De Nest), De Cramme en Okapi. De wedstrijd wordt ondersteund door Cultuurtuin Waas (Interwaas) en de stads- en gemeentebesturen van Lokeren, Sint- Niklaas en Stekene. (zie info site )
AFTRAP: Drie spots worden vrijgehouden voor jonge talenten uit de buurt die hun kans willen wagen om op één van onze podia te spelen die dag. Zij ontvangen naast podiumervaring en eeuwige roem ook catering en drankbonnen voor een dolle avond. Concreet zijn we op zoek naar allround dj’s, maar ook dj’s en live acts uit de hardere en experimentele elektronische genres zijn welkom met hun inzendingen.
De Tijdloze: Tijd voor 90: De Tijdloze en De Casino slaan jaarlijks de handen in elkaar om het muziekrepertoire van de gouden jaren negentig te vieren. Ontstaan als eindejaarslijst op Studio Brussel en na 35 jaar uitgegroeid tot een muzikaal begrip, vervelde De Tijdloze (100) in 2018 tot een onafhankelijk online radiokanaal (VRT MAX / DAB+) waar onder meer Stijn Van De Voorde (For Those About To Rock) en Roos Van Acker (Jouw Tijdloze Ochtenradio) de pop- en rockgeschiedenis alle eer aandoen. Liefhebbers van nostalgische hits kunnen sindsdien afstemmen op deze volwassen geworden digitale stream om er vierentwintig uur per dag, zeven dagen per week de beste klassiekers te beluisteren.
GREAT GIGS IN THE PARK Tien extraordinaire concertavonden De Casino Concertzaal en het stadsbestuur Sint-Niklaas presenteren een derde editie van Great Gigs in the Park. Deze reeks openluchtconcerten, die plaatsvinden in de feeërieke setting van het historische Casino Park (DC terras), wordt dit jaar gespreid over drie weken (van woensdag 14 juni tot donderdag 6 juli) en bundelt in die periode tien extraordinaire openluchtshows op de Casino[1]kiosk. Gezelligheid is het codewoord tijdens Great Gigs in the Park, want voor elk concertavonden worden slechts 600 tickets aangeboden. Programma De line-up van Great Gigs in the Park biedt een staalkaart van waar de Casino voor staat, zijnde een veelheid aan uiteenlopende muziekgenres: van hardrock en post-metal over elektrofunk en groove tot roots en droompop. De Casino presenteert ook elke concertavond een uitgekiende support-act: laureaten van Lawijtstrijd, speerpunten uit de Brusselse elektrojazz-hype, punk-calamiteiten, een crossover tussen doom en oriëntal, maar ook western swing-adepten en singer-songwriters.

De garagerockformatie Magnetic Spacemen brengt op 10 oktober diens vierde studioalbum CAROUSEL uit via Goomah Music / Excelsior Recordings.
CAROUSEL werd opgenomen bij Roy’s Kitchen in Kotten, midden in de Achterhoek vlakbij de Duitse grens. In meerdere sessies trok de band zich daar terug om het album in verschillende etappes op te nemen, te midden van rust, Duitse drankjes en de natuur. Bassist Redmer Kamsma tekende voor de productie en mix.
Het album verkent de carrousel van het leven: van terugkerende existentiële vragen en het verlies van ouders tot liefdesverdriet, hardnekkige slechte gewoontes en zelfs een knipoog naar seksspeeltjes, afgewisseld met de luchtigheid en ironie die Magnetic Spacemen zo eigen is. De band combineert op Carousel gruizige garagerock, surfy postpunk en rauwe rock-’n-roll in aanstekelijke songs vol energie.

Na de verrassende release van het nummer The Happy Dictator (feat. Sparks) vorige maand, presenteert Gorillaz vandaag The Manifesto (feat. Trueno en Proof) - het tweede fragment van hun aankomende studioalbum The Mountain.
"The Manifesto" behandelt thema's als de cyclus van het leven en het hiernamaals, gedragen door de explosieve energie van het Argentijnse wonderkind Trueno, viervoudig genomineerde voor de Latin Grammy. Hij slaakt daarin een noodkreet: "Yo no sé qué va a pasar mañana..." ("Ik weet niet wat morgen mij zal brengen...") - vlak voordat het nummer abrupt wordt onderbroken door een postuum couplet van de rapper uit Detroit, Proof (D12), een vaste samenwerker van Gorillaz. Met Alien Heart brengt de Antwerpse indiepopband Godot een intens persoonlijke, broze maar krachtige track die recht naar het hart grijpt. Zangeres Kim Verbeeck schreef het nummer na het verlies van haar moeder aan zelfdoding. Wat volgt is een meeslepende muzikale vertolking van de rauwe strijd tussen woede, verdriet, liefde en schuld.
Geïnspireerd door artiesten als London Grammar en Ane Brun, zweeft Godot tussen melancholie en hoop, met een sound die even intiem als meeslepend is. De combinatie van elektronische beats en akoestische elementen – dankzij contrabas en subtiele keys – geven het nummer zijn unieke sfeer.

Godot ontstond op muziekplatform Vibe, waar multi-instrumentalist Stijn Coolbrandt op zoek was naar een nieuwe creatieve samenwerking. Samen met zangeres Kim Verbeeck, (contra)bassist Niels Groenen en toetsenist Koen van de Weyer vond hij de klik en sound die leidde tot hun eerste eigen nummers Thick Skin, This is the time, Summerblind en Seabird (een cover van het Amerikaanse popduo Alessi Brothers).
Sinds 2024 deelt Godot hun muziek via alle streamingdiensten en zijn ze live te vinden op Antwerpse podia – klein begonnen, met grote verhalen om te vertellen.

We announced the first bands for next years lineup. From here on we'll be assembling the lineup together step by step. And what a big first step this is! We're happy to welcome back Russian Circles and Pelican to our stage. Do we still need to introduce these legends from Chicago? I didn't think so. These bands helped shape the scene we all love and we're really excited that they're joining us on our return to the Flemish countryside.
Last time they visited us in Zottegem, we recorded the whole show of both bands and released it on vinyl. That will be 10 years ago when they get back in May 2026.

The Haunted Youth bevestigt definitief zijn plaats als een van de meest intrigerende indierockbands van België! Whether you're an experienced musician or just starting out, the creative process often feels elusive and hard to fully understand. But there are also certain 'moments': creative sparks that can't be planned or programmed. It ends up being more than notes, gear, or structure, it's about the process, the tension and energy that builds when people connect and create in the same room.
The title track, Unknown Waveforms, captures that exact process. It opens with a quote from synth pioneer Wendy Carlos: "I'm just trying to show you how we get some of these sounds," inviting listeners directly into the creative space. The track focuses less on a polished outcome and more on the moment before a song is "finished": it's a portrait of experimentation, feeling, and raw expression.
This commitment to honesty permeates the entire album. KAU kept overdubs to a minimum, avoided excessive editing, and prioritized spontaneous choices over calculated ones. In a time when the future of live, improvised music feels uncertain, they double down on the physical, the real, and the immediate. The album resists the pristine polish of modern production, favoring the warmth and imperfection of analog synthesis. The band embraces the character of their instruments, particularly vintage gear, where subtle flaws add beauty, depth, and personality.
One standout track, cr_eye, is driven by the Moog Subphatty—a key instrument in the band's toolkit for its analog warmth and powerful sub-bass. The track centers around the conversation between bass and drums, allowing the keyboards to recede and create space. It draws emotional threads from earlier KAU tracks like Kampala and Kautokeino, bridging past and present with a shared atmosphere and rhythmic interplay.
Another highlight, Stratford, finds inspiration in London's transport system and the UK jazz scene that has long influenced KAU. A field recording snippet of the Underground kicks off the track, connecting it to the rhythm of everyday commutes. Built around a hypnotic sequencer line from the Roland JX-3P, the track evokes the motion of a metro journey. Artists like Nubya Garcia, Yussef Dayes, and Alfa Mist, giants of the scene that the band has admired for years, resonate subtly throughout. Above all, 'Unknown Waveforms' is a statement of intent: a celebration of imperfection, creative honesty and an insight in the process.

Spanish song from the 90s ontstond in de Atacamawoestijn in Chili. Het nummer gaat over je geremd voelen om te genieten van goede momenten, uit angst om te hervallen in de duisternis waaruit je langzaam bent opgeklommen. Een gemoedelijke drum en bas, een catchy tenorgitaar, een aanstekelijke melodie: alles is aanwezig voor een nazomerse roadtrip, maar dan eentje waarbij een dreigende wolk boven je hoofd hangt.
Voor de videoclip kiest momoyo voor gezellige kitsch. Op een achtergrond van beelden uit de Atacamawoestijn leeft de band zich even uit. Het is een knipoog naar de betere - of slechtere - videoclips van de jaren negentig. Tegelijk toont het momoyo op de meest eerlijke manier: muzikanten die hun muziek ernstig nemen, maar daarom niet zichzelf. Home is just a state of mind komt op 30 januari uit bij Wellington Records. In dat album keer momoyo terug naar de kern: een pure sound, live en dicht bij henzelf. De meest eerlijke, ongenadig persoonlijke en ongedwongen muziek die ze tot dusver hebben gemaakt.
momoyo is de Gentse band rond Jonas Bruyneel (Philemon, Vincent Coomans), Esther Coorevits (Jan Verstraeten, Tourist LeMC), Frie Mechele, Renaud Debruyne (Mirek Coutigny, Mergel) en Sven Sabbe (Galine). Het vijftal verraste in 2020 met een debuut-ep die airplay kreeg op Radio 1 en Studio Brussel. The lyrics sketch a couple sinking into self-pity, caught in the spiral of their own traumas. Yet a recurring image keeps breaking through: a sunset, both healing and inescapable, a moment of silence above the restless waters. "Red is life," says Felix. "It's feeling everything, without a filter."
Musically, 'Infinite Red' sounds unusually direct. The band built the track around a classic rock rhythm, but turned that familiarity firmly into their own. Written, rehearsed, and recorded in just a few takes, without polish or overthinking, the result is a song that feels like a clenched fist in a velvet white glove: energetic, raw, and disarmingly honest.
'Infinite Red' is part of 'Balconies', the new Tin Fingers album due in March 2026. Recorded in the sweltering heat of Greece, the band immersed themselves in four intense days that shaped the record's momentum. That heat, and the pull of water surrounding them, seeped into the music — a sound that no longer turns inward, but bursts out with explosive energy.

Just over a year after Ramkot released their second album Rosa, the band surprises their fans with a refreshing rework of their hit "Hollow", together with legendary pianist Jef Neve. Together with the rework the bad also announces a new EP called "Facts don't mean a thing" which will contain another 3 new songs and which will be released on November 14th.
Now what happens when you let raw rock energy collide with classically inspired jazz? The answer is a captivating and unexpectedly layered reinterpretation of "Hollow". At first glance, Ramkot and Jef Neve seem to operate in entirely different musical universes — one rooted in versatile, energetic rock, the other at home in refined jazz and classical influences. But it was precisely within this apparent contrast that they found each other, resulting in a unique version of "Hollow" where both worlds not only meet but also amplify one another.
The reimagined version shows how genre boundaries can blur when there is room for mutual respect and artistic curiosity.
Jef Neve's subtle, emotionally charged piano performance lifts the song to a new level, while Ramkot's intense vocals and band dynamics remain intact — yet are cast in a different light. As a fiery finale to the Rosa era, Ramkot is also announcing the release of a brand-new EP. The EP, titled Facts Don't Mean A Thing, will be released on November 14. It features four powerful tracks, combining surprising collaborations with brand-new material. The first ideas were planted during their retreat in Joshua Tree, but it wasn't until after their extensive Rosa album tour that the songs truly took shape. The result is an intense and uncompromising closing chapter to a turbulent period.

Zeven jaar na haar laatste muzikale hoofdstuk slaat Alice on the roof een nieuwe weg in. Op 14 november 2025 verschijnt Alice; haar eerste album volledig in het Frans. Een intieme, persoonlijke plaat waarin de Belgische singer-songwriter zichzelf zonder filter blootgeeft.
Met dit album keert Alice naar de essentie: de zoektocht naar volwassenheid, zelfaanvaarding en innerlijke kracht. Alice is opgebouwd als een museum van emoties, waarin elke song een eigen kamer vormt, gevuld met emoties, herinneringen en groei.
Na de breekbare eerste single Comme je t'ai aimé onthult Alice nu Miroir, miroir een ontwapenend en eerlijk zelfportret. Geschreven aan het einde van de lockdown, na een overdosis doelloos scrollen door sociale media, stelt ze zichzelf de vraag "Pourquoi je ne m'aime pas". De bijhorende videoclip werd opgenomen in haar "Ex's Museum" en toont opnieuw haar talent om zich oprecht en poëtisch bloot te geven.
Voor Alice werkte ze samen met een indrukwekkend team dat haar Franse geluid extra diepgang geeft: Albin de la Simone (Pomme, Jeanne Cherhal, Miossec), Paco Del Rosso (Damso, Bekar) en Sage (Clara Luciani). Samen brengen ze een warme, subtiele productie tot leven waarin melodie en emotie elkaar vinden.
Met Alice opent Alice on the Roof een nieuw hoofdstuk; stiller, dieper, maar dichter bij zichzelf dan ooit.
De Belgische zangeres en songwriter Alice Dutoit, beter bekend als Alice on the roof, veroverde het afgelopen decennium de harten van het publiek met haar dromerige pop en betoverende melodieën. Geïnspireerd door Scandinavische grootheden als Lykke Li, Agnes Obel en Sigur Rós, bouwde Alice haar eigen poëtische universum op.
In 2016 bracht ze haar debuutalbum Higher uit, waarmee ze met songs als Easy Come Easy Go en Lucky You meteen naam maakte. Twee jaar later verscheen opvolger MADAME (2018), dat haar muzikale universum verder uitbouwde en bevestigde als een van de toonaangevende stemmen in de Belgische pop. In de videoclip voor Malade speelt niemand anders dan le plus beau Arno ook een rol.
Sinds 2022 is Alice on the Roof coach bij The Voice Kids en in 2023 schreef ze ook het Belgische hymne The Right Words ter ere van de 20e verjaardag van het homohuwelijk.
Met haar nieuwe album Alice zet ze een nieuwe stap: voor het eerst zingt ze een volledig album in het Frans. Een openhartig, intiem werk waarin haar kwetsbaarheid én haar groei hand in hand gaan, ondersteund door een topteam van producers en songschrijvers.
