V2 records news – Stone & Sons join forces on new single ‘fishing’
STONE & SONS Join forces on new single "FISHING"
Listen to FISHING - Single by STONE, SONS | Spotify
Now sees the release of Fishing, a joint single by Belgian rock band SONS and British rock band STONE, produced by Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger).

Fishing is about someone moving through life without quite knowing where they're headed, while longing to know whether they matter and are loved. SONS singer Robin Borghgraef and STONE singer Fin Power each wrote their own lyrics around the theme and each sing their own part. "When you put the two together, it's about searching for meaning or validation, while you don't really know where you're going yourself," says Robin Borghgraef.

Fin found the title on the bus, at the end of a rather mundane day. "I was looking around at everyone else, thinking: it's life, the rat race for all. We're all just cogs in a massive machine. And in my brain I just heard: 'Everybody wants to go fishing, but when we cast the line, all the fish go missing.' Are we the fishes or the maggots? We're all the same."

The collaboration between SONS and STONE started on Instagram, where both bands had been following each other for a while, and took shape when they met last summer at the Dutch festival Weitjerock. STONE frontman Fin Power saw SONS play live and suggested recording a song together. At the end of August, two studio days later, 'Fishing' was in the can. "It's a song neither of us would have made on our own, but together it really comes into its own," says Robin. "Every bassist, every guitarist and even both drummers played a part. It turned out a tight, beautiful 50-50." For Fin Power, the collaboration grew naturally out of mutual fandom. "After our album, we wanted to do a collab with a European band. SONS showed up in our related artists on Spotify. I thought maybe they were a new British band, until I realised they were Belgian. I checked them out and thought: these are really, really cool."

Fishing is produced by Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger). "Mario delivers a really cool, raw rock sound. And when you've got two bands in the studio, everyone wants to do their own thing. He was really good at channelling that," says Robin Borghgraef. Fin Power agrees: "It sounds like it's just one band playing. Nobody was stepping on each other's toes, and everyone was very respectful of each other.

About SONS
SONS – Robin Borghgraef, Arno De Ruyte, Jens De Ruyte and Thomas Pultyn – burst onto the Belgian music scene in 2018 as winners of Studio Brussel's De Nieuwe Lichting. With their debut 'Family Dinner' (2019) they conquered the Benelux; follow-up 'Sweet Boy' (2022) opened doors in Germany, France, Switzerland and Greece. With the successful 'Hallo' (2025), the four-piece from Melsele proved they can evolve without losing their DNA.

This past summer was the band's busiest and most successful festival season to date, including a well-received show at Rock Werchter and an appearance at Lokerse Feesten.

About STONE
STONE – Fin Power, Elliot Gill, Sarah Surrage and Alex Smith – is an alternative rock band from Liverpool, known for singles such as 'Leave It Out' and 'Monkey See Monkey Do', and for an explosive live reputation. Choosing full creative freedom, the band left its major label to release the album 'AUTONOMY' via V2 Records in February 2026. Belgium holds a special place in STONE's heart: this year the band played a packed Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, and this summer they appeared at Rock Olmen, Rock Zottegem and Cactus Festival, among others.
Sharing the stage?
Both bands keep in close touch and want to bring Fishing to the stage. "If we ever end up on the same festival bill, chances are there'll be a guest appearance, at their show or the other way round," says SONS singer Robin Borghgraef.
Fin is looking forward to it too. "I think the SONS boys are great. I just really, really enjoyed being around them." And good news for Belgian fans: "We will be back next year, but I can't say too much yet."
SONS will close the 'Hallo' chapter on Saturday 30 January 2027 at De Roma in Antwerp (
