Copa DOK 2026, van 14 mei t-m 16 mei 2026, Stadshaven, Gent – affiche compleet

De affiche van Copa DOK 2026 is compleet. Met Amber Broos, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Vive La Fête, Kraantje Pappie en Birthe voegt de organisatie de laatste vijf namen toe aan de line-up. Op 14, 15 en 16 mei 2026 vindt in Gent de tweede editie plaats van het driedaagse festival Copa DOK. Place to be? Stadshaven. Zelfde plek als vorig jaar. Copa DOK kon toen rekenen op de komst van o.a. Manu Chao en Bart Peeters en blijft ook dit jaar trouw aan een gevarieerde line-up met verrassende combinaties en een hoek af. De affiche telt deze editie meer artiesten dan vorig jaar. Verwacht op elke festivaldag minstens vier shows. Dagtickets en een ltd. aantal combi-tickets zijn te koop via de website van Copa DOK. 14 mei: grenzeloos feest!

Goran Bregović. De man achter iconische filmmuziek voor Emir Kusturica (Time of the Gypsies, Underground). Met zijn Wedding & Funeral Band verandert hij elk festivalterrein in een kolkend feest. 'Bella Ciao', 'Kalasnjikov' en 'Gas Gas'. Trouwstoet, begrafenis én afterparty tegelijk.

Tiken Jah Fakoly is één van de bekendste reggaesterren én militante activisten van West-Afrika. Omwille van zijn kritiek op het regime in zijn geboorteland Ivoorkust leeft hij al jaren in ballingschap in Mali. Hij blijft sociaal-politiek actief en zet zijn geëngageerde boodschap wereldwijd nog altijd kracht bij met verbluffende optredens. Rastaman A Chant!

Mariam blijft op de baan, ook zonder Amadou waar ze 45 jaar lief, leed en een muzikale carrière mee deelde, tot zijn overlijden in 2025. Omringd door haar trouwe muzikanten is Mariam Sings Amadou & Mariam een levenslustig en warmhartig eerbetoon aan de legacy van Amadou & Mariam. Mali blues, afro-beat en westerse invloeden zorgen voor een feest waarbij bekend werk (‘Je T’aime’, ‘Salabi’ en ‘Sete’) het gezelschap krijgt van het vorig jaar verschenen album ‘L’Amour à La Folie’. Net uit: de documentaire 'Amadou et Mariam: Sons du Mali', het verhaal van het meest gevierde Afrikaanse duo ter wereld. Twee zielen die elkaar vonden in muziek en liefde.
Gabriel Ríos. 23 jaar na debuutalbum ‘Ghostboy’ nog steeds van goudwaarde. Ook in een minimalistische duobezetting, samen met pianist/bassist Ruben Samama.  Gabriel Rios staat garant voor poëtische, Latijns-Amerikaans getinte folkliedjes waarin zijn Puerto Ricaanse roots doorsijpelen. Benieuwd naar de uitvoeringen van ‘Angelhead’, ‘Broad Daylight’ én nummers van het nieuwe album ‘Playa negra’. 15 mei: straffe dames met een eigen stem!
Selda Bağcan. levende legende en koningin van het verzet die al meer dan vijftig jaar het muzikale geweten is van Turkije. Dr. Dre, Florence & The Machine, Mos Def en 2manydjs zijn fan. En u? Ze gebruikt haar stem consequent als een wapen tegen onrecht, censuur en onderdrukking. Haar muziek is rauw, compromisloos, diep menselijk en doordrenkt van volksmuziek, poëzie en politieke urgentie. Haar engagement bleef niet zonder gevolgen: ze kreeg reisverboden opgelegd, had te kampen met censuur en werd meermaals gearresteerd. In de jaren ’80 zat ze zelfs enige tijd in de gevangenis, louter en alleen omdat ze zong over vrijheid, solidariteit en verzet. In een straffe line-up die ook andere grensverleggende artiesten samenbrengt en genres en culturen en generaties verbindt, staat Selda Bağcan als moreel en muzikaal kompas op de affiche. Ze is een koningin zonder kroon, maar met een kritische stem die nog altijd even scherp, noodzakelijk en ontroerend klinkt in het huidige geopolitieke klimaat. En zeker passend in Gent, een stad met een lange adem voor vrije stemmen.
Het gaat hard voor Kaat Van Stralen. Winnaar van De Nieuwe Lichting in 2025, een deelname aan De Slimste Mens, een eerste plaats in De Afrekening, een verzilverde Mia in de categorie Alternative en een debuut-EP (‘Vlinder’) met maar liefst drie singles (‘Stop Met Wenen’, ‘Projectje’, ‘Ik Weet Hoe Het Werkt’). Verwacht een knallende festivalset vol krakende punk, bijtende psychedelica en doortastende spoken word. Bekijk hier de versie van 'Stop Met Wenen' op De Mia's.
Sylvie Kreusch. Een dromerige comic trip met invloeden van mode, films en oude stripverhalen. Sylvie betovert het publiek met haar experimentele popmuziek. Ze is een stijlicoon met intussen twee full albums en vele uitverkochte shows (Vooruit, De Roma, AB, Cirque Royale) op de teller. Stap mee met songs als ‘Sweet Love (Coconut)’, ‘Crack My Mind’ en ‘Walk Walk’. Nina Kortekaas, bandlid van Sylvie Kreusch, won een Mia in de categorie Muzikant en Sylvie stond tijdens De Mia's samen met Axelle Red op het podium.
Producer en DJ Amber Broos stond al op de affiche van Tomorrowland, Werchter en Pukkelpop; heeft haar eigen residentie-programma op Studio Brussel (UNTZ); en staat bekend om energieke sets doorspekt met house, club en techno. Een topper in de elektronische muziekscene.
Vive La Fête. Attaque La Surprise! Het koppel Els Pynoo en Danny Mommens gooit sinds 1997 new wave en dansbare electropop in de mix, gezegend met een tot de verbeelding sprekende rock 'n' rol-attitude. Feest verzekerd dankzij hits als 'Nuit Blanche', 'Touche Pas' en 'Maquillage'.

16 mei: Hiphop, elektronische beats & eurodance!
Van Rock Werchter tot een wereldtour met Gorillaz: het iconische hiphopgezelschap De La Soul komt naar Copa DOK. Mét live band, tijdloze klassiekers als 'Me Myself and I' én nieuw werk van het geprezen album 'Cabin In The Sky'. Pure hiphopgeschiedenis. Recent nog te gast in The Tonight Show van Jimmy Fallon en op 16 mei in Gent voor een exclusief concert op Belgische bodem. Net online: Tiny Desk Concert van De La Soul.
Kraantje Pappie zat al niet verlegen om knallers.  Na o.a. ‘Waar is Kraan?’, ‘Feesttent’, ‘Pompen’ en ‘De Manier’ voegde Alex van der Zouwen de voorbije jaren ook hits als 'ChinChin', 'Zin In De Zomer' en het in 2025 verschenen 'Lil Freakje' (te vinden op zijn meest recente album 'Crane IV') toe aan zijn discografie. Nederhop en clubgerichte elektronische muziek for the win!
Birthe was te zien in Live Live Live op VRT 1 en opent op 16 mei de slotdag van Copa DOK. Till We Meet!  Soul met uitstapjes richting pop, funk en jazz. Beloftevol beloond met airplay op Studio Brussel, Radio 2, Bruzz en Joe.
De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. Twintig jaar 'Watskeburt?!' en nog altijd onklopbaar. Na uitverkochte arena’s in Nederland en België houdt de jubileumtour van De Jeugd halt Gent. Verwacht meebrullers als 'Sterrenstof', 'Manon' en 'Ik Kwam Haar Tegen In De Moshpit'.
Wie houdt Milk Inc. tegen? Niemand, te oordelen naar de vorig jaar verschenen comeback-single 'Unstoppable'. Linda Mertens en Regi Penxten vieren in 2026 het dertigjarig bestaan van de Belgische eurodance-groep en houden een tussenstop op Copa DOK met hits die intussen tot het collectief geheugen behoren: 'Walk On Water', 'In My Eyes', 'La Vache', ...
Copa DOK kwam er vorig jaar nogal onverwacht. Zes weken: meer voorbereidingstijd was er niet nodig om de allereerste editie van Copa DOK, met o.a. Manu Chao en Bart Peeters op de affiche, op poten te zetten en meteen recht in de roos te schieten. Dit jaar schakelt de organisatie een versnelling hoger en is Soundport de nieuwe betrouwbare partner om het festival te laten welslagen. Copa DOK is nu een joint venture tussen Anamma en Soundport. Copa DOK creëert niet alleen een unieke muziekervaring, maar heeft sinds vorig jaar ook een nieuwe invulling aan Stadshaven, een stuk Gent dat schreeuwde om herontdekking. De festivalsite ligt op wandelafstand van het centrum, tussen water en staal, op het snijvlak van oud en nieuw Gent. De festivalorganisatie geloofde vanaf het begin in de kracht van de Stadshaven site om het stedelijke weefsel te verrijken en nieuwe verhalen te schrijven in de marge van de stad. Copa DOK is op die manier een plek waar Gent bruist, broeit en opnieuw begint. Ook in 2026. Voor de nieuwe editie neemt de organisatie achter het Copacobana festival volop de tijd om het spectaculaire decor nog zotter in te kleden met enkele herkenbare Copa ingrepen. Hell On Air Festival 2026 announces line-up 30 april – 3 may 2026  - Een update
HELL ON AIR THRASH ANNOUNCEMENT
In true old-school style, chaos strikes whenever it pleases. Unfortunately, ASSASSIN cannot play at Hell On Air this year, but the thrash gods never leave a void unfilled. From the German heartland of steel and smoke, a new force is rising. A band forged in '86, honed by decades of riffs, sweat, and pure aggression. A band that carries the old flame without compromise. ACCUSER is the name, and expect a massive thrash assault.

The festival takes place from May 1 to May 3, 2026, at OC Molenhuis in Molenstede (Diest) and promises to be one of the most intense metal events of the year. The openingsevening will happen on April 30, 2026.

Hell On Air brings a mix of international and national metal acts, including Liv Sin, Temtris, KrashKarma, and other explosive names that will fill the weekend with heavy riffs and pure energy. The festival is known for its powerful atmosphere, strong programming, and close ties to the metal community.

KrashKarma, the unique two-headed metal monster from Los Angeles, is known for their brutal energy, dual vocal power, and live shows that feel like a controlled explosion. Their arrival gives Hell On Air an extra international punch.

Belgian death metal legend Exoto, who died a few years ago, was persuaded to play one last show at Hell On Air. Not to be missed, just like the other 29 bands on the bill.

With the final of the Alcatraz Bash on Friday and a selection of Belgian bands on the bill, Hell On Air also gives homegrown talent a chance to perform.

Celebrating three decades since the release of their groundbreaking debut album, legendary alternative rock band Placebo announce Placebo RE:CREATED, a powerful new reworking of the record that first introduced them to the world in 1996. The album will be released on 19 June 2026 via Elevator Lady Ltd through AWAL.

Originally arriving at the height of the Britpop era, Placebo stood in stark contrast to the prevailing cultural mood. While much of British guitar music at the time leaned into laddish nostalgia and national identity, Placebo's debut delivered something altogether more provocative and confrontational. Its songs addressed sexuality, androgyny, addiction and alienation with an honesty rarely heard in mainstream rock at the time, establishing the band as one of the most distinctive voices of their generation.

Thirty years on, Placebo RE:CREATED sees the band return to this pivotal album with a fresh perspective. The new record features reworked and embellished versions of all ten tracks from the original album plus two bonus tracks from the original release, capturing the way these songs have evolved across decades of performance while retaining the raw spirit that defined them. Among the tracks are the era-defining singles "Nancy Boy" and "36 Degrees", songs that helped establish Placebo's reputation for fearless lyricism and genre-defying sound. These new recordings amplify the urgency and attitude that made the originals resonate so strongly, while reflecting the band's growth and experience in the years since their debut.

Speaking about the new record, Placebo explain:
"We think of this record as a director's cut. We haven't recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record.

This project was about finally finishing the record, dragging it into the 21st century sonically, while preserving the integrity and the spirit of the original. It's not about improving it, there's nothing wrong with it, it's about completing it.

When we made the first album, we didn't yet have the experience or the studio knowledge to fully translate what was in our heads. Over the years, the songs took on a life of their own on stage; they grew, they developed, they kind of completed themselves.

It's a celebration of where we began, and a meeting point between who we were then and who we are now. A way of honoring that innocence, while letting the songs exist with the scale, confidence, and energy of the band we've become."

When Placebo first appeared in 1996, the band's aesthetic and lyrical perspective challenged expectations within British rock culture. Their visual identity - deliberately ambiguous, glamorous and confrontational - pushed against traditional ideas of gender and masculinity at a time when such conversations rarely entered mainstream discourse. In doing so, Placebo carved out a space for a different kind of alternative voice, one that resonated deeply with audiences who felt outside the cultural mainstream and is still referenced to this day by many of their contemporaries.

Now, discussions around identity, gender expression and individuality are more visible - and often more contested - than ever. Against this backdrop, the origins of Placebo's debut feel strikingly relevant again. Placebo RE:CREATED not only celebrates the legacy of the original album, but also highlights its enduring cultural significance, reaffirming how forward-thinking the record was upon its release.

The album was recreated by Brian Molko and Rob Kirwan from the original master tapes and mixed by Adam Noble. The result is a collection that preserves the immediacy and defiance of the original while pushing the sound into new territory - reflecting both the band's long history with these songs and their continued creative evolution.

Later this year Placebo will embark on an extensive UK and European arena tour to celebrate this momentous anniversary. The band will be performing songs from their first two albums, Placebo and Without You I'm Nothing - some of which have not been performed live for over 20 years! The tour kicks off in Portugal before heading across Europe and ending in the UK, seeing them perform to hundreds of thousands of fans across 36 dates. Later this month Placebo will , at the invitation of The Cure's Robert Smith, take to the stage alongside their good friends 'Garbage' for the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series at the legendary Royal Albert Hall. The annual series has long been one of the UK's most respected charity music events, bringing together major artists to raise funds for young people facing cancer.
