Son Lux announce their new album ‘Out Into’, due for release on September 18th via City Slang, and share its soaring lead single “Endlessly”. The track arrives as the band’s first new studio material since receiving two Oscar nominations and a BAFTA nomination for their acclaimed score to Everything Everywhere All at Once, as well as composing the soundtrack for Marvel’s Thunderbolts.
“We’ll find our way.” When Son Lux founder Ryan Lott sings these four words near the outset of the band’s propulsive ninth album, ‘Out Into’, he’s making a vow, charting a course, advancing a philosophy, sealing a promise.
What follows is Son Lux at their most rhythmically immediate, lyrically urgent, and emotionally direct. Across nearly two decades, the trio – Lott, guitarist Rafiq Bhatia, and percussionist Ian Chang – have built a singular catalogue that blurs experimental composition, electronic music, hip-hop production techniques, and art-pop ambition. But while previous releases often expanded outward into sweeping, cinematic territory, ‘Out Into’ turns toward something more tactile and instinctive: a collection of songs shaped from spontaneous improvisation and first impulses captured in real time.
“We’re going places we’ve never gone before in terms of energy, attitude, color,” says Lott. “And it all comes from having reverence for those initial sparks, for treating the voice memo version of the idea as the most sacred iteration.”
Now they share “Endlessly”, a soaring anthem dedicated to embracing one’s true self. Commissioned by The Bluecoats, the world-renowned marching ensemble based in Canton, Ohio, the track balances euphoric release with emotional vulnerability, pairing propulsive percussion and towering arrangements with one of the band’s most direct and anthemic hooks to date.
Speaking on the single, Son Lux comment: “‘Endlessly’ is about surrendering to who you are rather than resisting it. There’s vulnerability in that, but also freedom. The song started as something commissioned for performance, but it quickly became central to the emotional language of the album.”
Recorded in bursts during downtime between film projects, ‘Out Into’ was developed over a two-year period, with the spaces between sessions allowing the songs to deepen in meaning and rhythmic intensity. The result is an album that exists in a paradoxical space between spontaneous and refined, pop-minded and experimental, intimate and panoramic.
“These songs are about losing and finding ourselves,” says Lott. “How we lose ourselves in relationships, in work, in our children, in our pursuits and desires. So how do we find ourselves? How do we find each other?”
Those questions pulse throughout the record, from the liquid, dub-inflected unease of “You Could Be the One” to the stark, confrontational closer “No God Like a King”, which directly addresses hypocrisy and White Nationalism in contemporary America. Elsewhere, Son Lux channel their love of hip-hop production and off-grid rhythmic experimentation, drawing inspiration from figures like J Dilla and Madlib while foregrounding the tactile humanity of live performance and improvisation.
“We’ve always been drawn to the humanity in rhythm,” says Chang. “Especially now, with AI changing the music industry so much, we’re interested in making stuff where you hear the hand.”
That physicality runs throughout ‘Out Into’. If Son Lux’s recent soundtrack work expanded the scale of their music, this album brings the focus back to touch, breath, and connection. “Every moment is an exit and an entrance at the same time,” says Lott. “That’s partly what ‘Out Into’ means. We come out of something and into something else.”

Opgericht in Brussel in 2024, is een quintet dat alternatieve rock, postpunk en elektro met elkaar versmelt. De band creëert een klankuniversum waarin rauwe energie en pure emotie elkaar ontmoeten. Met scherpe riffs, betoverende melodieën en frenetieke ritmes belichamen ze een hybride en onbevangen sound.
Hun nummers werden live opgenomen met Mika Nagasaki (Ghinzu) in het hoofdkwartier van Girls In Hawaii, omdat de band op het podium pas echt volledig tot zijn recht komt. Hun eerste single "Krokodil" behaalde kort na de release de top 100 van de PLAYRIGHT-charts, wat een veelbelovende entree betekende in de Belgische muziekscene.
Van de beet van "Krokodil" en de hypnotiserende waas van "Blue Mystic Pill" tot de hectische punk-urgentie van "Invasion": dit project vangt de frictie tussen innerlijke angst en een elektrische ontlading. Het is een sonische handtekening gebouwd op contrasterende texturen, zowel in geluid als in beeld.
De EP VOLTAGE (5 juni 2026) markeert de eerste stap van een grotere muzikale reis en plaveit de weg naar het ambitieuze debuutalbum van de band: een opus van 14 nummers dat gepland staat voor januari 2027.

Now announcement follows an array of cryptic teases from Goose, including a hilarious video posted to social media last Friday starring Emmy Award-nominated actor Jake Lacy (The White Lotus, The Office, Girls), who then accompanied the band as they sat courtside at the following night’s New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls game at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. Lacy sat between the four members of Goose, each of whom wore bright yellow hoodies spelling out “FACE” – a key lyrical component of their fan favorite song, “Big Modern!” The teaser video and MSG appearance capped off two weeks of speculation inspired by guerrilla marketing in major US cities featuring the words “BIG MODERN!” along with a BIGMODERN.com website displaying Morse code for mysterious phrases and interactive messaging based on Goose fans’ thoughts across social media.
A fully immersive world of sound that ingeniously captures what it feels like to move through today’s overstimulated, hyperconnected society, BIG MODERN! is heralded by today’s premiere of the rapturous new single, “Good2B.” From its first percussive note, the track offers up an unstoppable disco-funk energy, with sun-drenched congas, slinking bass lines, and organ hits dancing over an endless lyrical parade of people, places, and things. It’s joyous and messy; reward and distraction. It’s everything you could ever want, everywhere, all of the time, and all of it goes down smooth. Een zigzagtijger is een langpootmug.

Studio Chauffage in Gent, 2024 en 2025. Samen met producer Jérôme Pringiers (Oproer, J. Bernardt) werkt Zigzagtijger aan een plaat. Het debuutalbum vertrekt in februari 2027 naar Vlaanderen en Nederland. De tweede halte daaruit heet 'Donkere Berg (in het juiste licht)'.
Zeven muzikanten uit de Gentse muziekscene versmelten tot een collectief dat uitblinkt in verrassende popcomposities. Hun organische sound is zacht en schurend tegelijk. Zanger-verteller Jeroen Boone neemt je mee in zoekende verhalen terwijl de band stampende nachtblues afwisselt met fragiele liedjes. Rammelende gitaren en een donzige blazerssectie zorgen voor een unieke sound.
Op een mooie donderdag in februari 2025 lanceert Jeroen Boone, leadzanger en medecomponist van Zigzagtijger, deze boodschap tijdens een repetitie van de band: “Het is tijd voor een complex complexloos lied over het overwinnen van moeilijkheden. Dat ken ik, dat kennen we allemaal.” De tekst van 'Donkere berg (in het juiste licht)' rolt er samen met een fris aantal rockakkoorden als vanzelf uit en raakt. Keihard en zacht.
Obstakels die voor je opdoemen, hoeven geen obstakels te blijven. Je kan ze uitzweten in de sauna, wat naar een zee zitten staren. Je kan ze bespreken op café, wandelen, een liedje fluiten. De berg op en weer af. Misschien ligt er sneeuw op de top en een kers zoals op een taart? Je kan er met ogen voor een andere blik naar kijken en uiteindelijk uitkomen bij de slotsom: “In het juiste licht is de donkere berg helemaal geen donkere berg.”
Zigzagtijger ging als een volwaardig collectief aan de slag met de compositie van Jeroen. De energie werd omgezet in een kloeke track die qua sound flirt met de jaren tachtig en negentig. Een opstijgende synth-lijn, een vuil klinkende ritmesectie die schatplichtig is aan Pixies en een goede portie noise-akkoorden maken van 'Donkere Berg (in het juiste licht)' een catchy en meeslepende popsong.
Zigzagtijger is een nieuwe groep maar ieder bandlid heeft in het verleden zijn sporen verdiend in het veld. Koen Degand, Toon Westra en Jeroen Bot waren deel van Transit, Vlaamse postrocktrots in de jaren ‘00 met albums bij Zealrecords en passages in AB, Botanique en in DUYSTER.. David Decraene en Koen Degand maakten deel uit van Sofar, verstilde pracht uit Gent. Jeroen Boone speelt in het gipsykwartet De Miniemen dat recent aandacht kreeg op RTBF-radio. De meeste muzikanten van Zigzagtijger leerden elkaar echt heel goed kennen bij Zonen met vaders, een band die twee EP’s en een album uitbracht en meer dan vijftig shows speelde (o.a. in Minard Schouwburg en op het luisterplein van de Gentse Feesten en Labadoux festival).

Cathedral album
John Carpenter has announced his highly anticipated return to the realm of audio/visual narrative storytelling with Cathedral, a new album set for release August 7 on Sacred Bones Records alongside his first ever graphic novel, set for release August 4 via Storm King Comics. Carpenter and longtime band mates Cody Carpenter (synths) and Daniel Davies (guitar) offer its first single and visualizer for “Lord Of The Underground” May 19.
Designed as a fully immersive project, Cathedral functions as both soundtrack and narrative engine: each track aligns with a chapter of the graphic novel, with liner notes guiding listeners through the story. As a result the story unfurls like a film and is certainly the closest approximation to a new movie from Carpenter since 2010. “It was so cinematic and vivid,” Carpenter says of the dream that inspired the story. “I thought, ‘I have to score this.’ It’s kind of our first heavy metal album.”
Inspired by a vividly cinematic dream he had in 2024, the story centers on an abandoned church in downtown Los Angeles that shifts from a forgotten building to the site of a waking nightmare. After the killing of a police officer draws attention to the long-ignored cathedral, Lieutenant Christine Marks and detectives Paul Hernandez and Steve Mayfield are pulled into an investigation that leads them deep into its catacombs and toward a centuries-old evil imprisoned within. Both the album and graphic novel are previewed today with the release of “Lord of the Underground,” accompanied by a visual that features animated versions of illustrations from the book.
“The story informed everything,” says longtime musical collaborator Daniel Davies of the album. “John would describe a scene and say, ‘We need a heavy riff here.’ We didn’t set out to make a metal record, but it evolved that way.” Carpenter is joined by Davies and Cody Carpenter, continuing a partnership that spans the Lost Themes album series, the recent Halloween films, and multiple reworkings of Carpenter’s classic scores. On Cathedral, the trio leans into a heavier, more aggressive palette without losing the tension and atmosphere that define Carpenter’s sound.
Whereas the Lost Themes albums were written as scores to movies of the mind, Cathedral scores the first original graphic novel written by Carpenter, in collaboration with his wife and long-time creative partner, producer and editor Sandy King, and writer Sean Sobczak, fleshed out by illustrators Federico De Luca and Luis Guaragna, colored by Sian Mandrake, and lettered by Marshall Dillon. Fans can get a first peek of its look via the visualizer for “Lord Of The Underground” out today and its first chapter, as featured in John Carpenter’s anthology Tales For A HalloweeNight Vol 11 (see four pages from that chapter here).
While the Cathedral album was crafted to be listened to as one reads the graphic novel, it was important to Carpenter that the music stand on its own. “That’s first and foremost,” the director says. “It’s all about making the music work. This is somewhat different sounding stuff that we've done, but it's done with the same desire in mind,” he adds. “In other words, put this thing on and imagine you're watching a movie. That’s what we want you to do.”
With Cathedral, Carpenter extends his world-building into a tightly wound, cross-medium experience; part score, part story, and unmistakably his own.
About John Carpenter
John Carpenter is an influential filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and composer whose work has shaped modern horror and genre cinema for decades. A graduate of the USC School of Cinema, he first gained attention with Dark Star before breaking through with Halloween in 1978, which became the most profitable independent film of its time and launched a landmark franchise.
His directing credits include genre classics such as The Fog, The Thing, Escape From New York, Big Trouble In Little China, They Live, Christine, Prince of Darkness, In The Mouth Of Madness, Vampires, and Escape from L.A., as well as Starman, which earned Jeff Bridges an Academy Award nomination. For television, he directed “Elvis” and “John Carpenter Presents Body Bags,” and received a CableACE Award for writing El Diablo. More than five decades in, for the first time in his career he will release his first original graphic novel with CATHEDRAL in August 2026. Also to further cement his talents as a composer and musical artist known for soundtracking his own projects, the release will be accompanied by CATHEDRAL the album this August.
Carpenter is also an accomplished composer, releasing his debut non-soundtrack album Lost Themes in 2014 to international acclaim. Born in Carthage, New York, and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he lives in Hollywood with his wife and producing partner, Sandy King.

"Without exception, everyone will eventually depart this world and face the parting from their loved ones. Through this album, we wished to express our "eternal gratitude" to those precious people who walked alongside us on the journey of life. We believe this sentiment is the only thing capable of filling the void left in our hearts and easing the profound sorrow and pain of loss.
Every flower carries its own unique language. For this album, we incorporated the messages imbued in flowers given to those who have passed into the titles of our songs.

When MONO recorded their previous album, OATH, with longtime production partner and friend, Steve Albini in 2023, they never fathomed that it would be the final studio album they made together. Albini tragically died the following year, and that loss left an incalculable void in the lives of not just everyone who ever knew Steve, but everyone with an attachment to any of the thousands of records he helped bring into world over the past four decades. He brought a clarity to the chaos, and a selfless sense of service to art and artists that was unrivaled. On both a personal and practical level, the loss left MONO faced with profound grief and uncertainty. Albini had become a fundamental part of MONO’s unmistakable sound, and the thought of replacing him was daunting, to say the least. Enter: Brad Wood (Touché Amoré, The Smashing Pumpkins).
Chosen for both his familiarity with MONO’s creative and technical working process – as well as his decades-long friendship with Steve Albini – Brad Wood entered Albini’s storied Electrical Audio studios in September 2025 to record what would become Snowdrop. Once again working with Chicago-based conductor and orchestral musical director, Chad McCullough, MONO enlisted a 10-piece orchestra as well as an 8-piece choir for the eight massive pieces that make up Snowdrop. With the band performing and Wood recording in the same hallowed space where most of MONO’s records had been made in their quarter-century history, the songs on Snowdrop carry an extra weight. Mixed by Wood at his Seagrass home studio in Los Angeles, the album is equally intimate and enveloping.
Where there could easily be a pall hanging over Snowdrop, there is instead an extraordinary air of gratitude. Rather than steep in heartache, there is a poignant appreciation for the resonance of life well-spent with a dear friend – and the yearning for what may come. Snowdrop is the sound of a band turning shock and sadness into hope and wonder – and finding renewed focus in the freedom of unknowing.

Tweede Reiefestival presenteert creaties op en rond het water in Brugge, 4 september – 6 september 2026
TWEEDE REIEFESTIVAL PRESENTEERT CREATIES OP EN ROND HET WATER, van 4 tot 6 september in Brugge
Het Reiefestival vindt van 4 tot 6 september opnieuw plaats in Brugge. Het driejaarlijkse openluchtfestival verbindt (im)materieel erfgoed met hedendaagse podiumkunsten op unieke locaties, zoals de Coupure, het water aan de Langerei en de privétuin van het Adornesdomein. Bezoekers en Bruggelingen beleven de stad op een nieuwe manier dankzij meer voorstellingen dan ooit op en langs de reien. Het thema ‘Stroom’ loopt als een rode draad door het festival met acht voorstellingen, waaronder vijf wereldpremières. De performances, toneelstukken, concerten en meer spelen telkens verschillende keren, van lokale en nationale gezelschappen zoals Bad van Marie met Zwerm, Comp. Marius met Het Scheldeoffensief, Te Jong Te Laet, Het Eenzame Westen met Another Hero ... Naast het beproefde podiumprogramma, komt het festival nu ook met een randprogramma door verschillende activiteiten te organiseren in en rond het festivalcentrum, dat zich opnieuw nestelt in Salon en Hof Arents. Ook het mobiele cultuurhuis Uitwijken trekt voor de festivalstart al door Brugse deelgemeenten met een nieuwe theatervoorstelling, een coproductie tussen Brugge Plus (Uitwijken) en De Spil in Roeselare.

Het Reiefestival is een meerdaags kunstenfestival in Brugge dat erfgoed en hedendaagse podiumkunsten samenbrengt op en rond de iconische reien. Tijdens het festival verandert de historische binnenstad tijdelijk in een levend podium met premières van nieuwe openluchtcreaties, performances op het water, concerten, installaties en participatieve voorstellingen.
Vanuit een inhoudelijk thema verkent het Reiefestival telkens wat mensen verbindt en in beweging brengt, en biedt het ruimte aan zowel verstilde als grootschalige artistieke ervaringen. De tweede editie vindt plaats van 4 tot 6 september 2026 en staat in het teken van het thema 'Stroom', een uitnodiging om stil te staan bij alles wat beweegt, verbindt en inspireert.

Kevin Morby announces his eighth studio album, Little Wide Open, out May 15th via Dead Oceans, and shares its lead single & video, “Javelin" en "Die youg”. Little Wide Open was produced by Aaron Dessner.
“Little Wide Open is set to a backdrop of tangled highways, towns with populations less than 100,000, roadside crosses, a rock and roll romance, coupling butterflies, being an American entertainer, Econoline vans and more,” explains Morby. “This is, without a doubt, the most personal and vulnerable album I’ve ever made. Aaron did a heroic job of holding me back from throwing too many tricks at the songs, and letting my stories stand a bit naked. Despite its title this album is in fact, very wide open.”
Of now’s single, “Javelin,” Morby says: “This is a song I wrote about being in love with someone you keep circling around the globe, relentlessly traveling through the air and down highways, and then returning home alone to middle America. Amelia Meath (Sylvan Esso) shines here, with her incredible vocals. I had invited her into the studio and asked that she create a backing choir out of just her voice - but her presence is so special that her ‘backing vocals’ can’t help but take the lead.”

In the summer of 2024, Dessner had asked Morby to support The National at their London show in Crystal Palace Park. Shortly after, Dessner—who was on a hot streak, having produced albums for Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Gracie Abrams—reached out to Morby to say he’d love to produce his next album. They began recording at Aaron’s Long Pond Studio in Stuyvesant, NY, early in 2025 and finished in September of that year.
The album, which includes a host of contributors such as Dessner—who plays multiple instruments across it— Meath, Justin Vernon, Katie Gavin, Lucinda Williams, Mat Davidson, Meg Duffy, Oliver Hill, Rachel Baiman, Stuart Bogie, Tim Carr, Andrew Barr, Benjamin Lanz, Colin Croom and Tom Moth, has been described by Morby as the third in an unintentional trilogy of releases, following 2020’s Sundowner and 2022’s This Is a Photograph, which catalogued his time in middle America after moving back to Kansas City. This time out, Dessner’s production elevates Morby’s recordings while never losing focus of the songs themselves. There’s a newfound confidence and clarity in both Morby’s writing and Dessner’s production that recalls Tom Petty’s 1994 classic Wildflowers. Now primarily living in LA, the atmosphere that runs through Little Wide Open has changed somewhat from its predecessors. The feeling of restlessly hurtling towards something new. A future unseen and untested, but inevitable.

Lords Of Acid - Dream Boy
The pioneering electronic dance act Lords Of Acid have released their second single of 2026 today (15th May). 'Dream Boy' is described by the group as "a dark trip through the streets of Necropolis, where addiction feels like salvation and nightmares wear a beautiful disguise."
The song is built as a dialogue between desperation and seduction: a broken soul screaming from inside the chaos, while vocalist Carla Harvey answers like a dangerous angel floating through the smoke.
"'Dream Boy' isn't about judging addiction," they continue. "It's about understanding the pain, loneliness and emptiness that drive people toward it in the first place. We wanted the verses to feel raw and claustrophobic, almost like a panic attack, while the reggae-inspired chorus drifts like a hallucination you never want to wake up from. The line 'Dream boy, keep on floating in the sun' sounds warm and beautiful at first, until you realise it's about somebody slowly disappearing in plain sight. It is one of the darkest songs we have ever written, but underneath the shadows there's still a message of human connection, desire and the search for a real high that doesn't destroy you."
The song follows the recent 'Karaoke Superstar' a tongue-in-cheek collaboration with the hit-making US vocalist and DJ Princess Superstar. It saw the group in full theatrical mode on a hyper-sexual, neon-drenched industrial, metal, acid dance anthem inspired by Japanese game show chaos, underground fetish culture and the absurdity of pop stardom.
Both tracks will appear on a long-awaited seventh Lords Of Acid album in late 2026 that is set to feature other notable guest vocalists as well as the powerhouse voice of Carla Harvey, the reigning 'Acid Queen'. Renowned for her commanding stage presence, the distinctive US singer joined the group in early 2025 having previously been in the metal band Butcher Babies.
Lords Of Acid have maintained an intensive live schedule and are currently midway through a 'Cheeky Freaky Tour' of the US that runs until the end of May.
LORDS OF ACID | biography
Formed in Antwerp, Belgium in 1988, Lords Of Acid are recognised as one of the most influential acts to emerge from the hard-edged electronic dance music scene of that era. Adopting and adapting underground club culture aesthetics fom the off, they blended techno, acid house and industrial music with provocative lyrics on themes of sexuality, drug use and hedonism. Debuting with the classic New Beat single 'I Sit On Acid', their debut album 'Lust' appeared in 1991 and was followed periodically by further releases that saw the group become a staple of the Billboard dance and alternative charts. Having built a substantial global following while maintaining a multi-decade touring career, Lords Of Acid remain one of their genre's most recognisable and enduring names.
