More than two decades and eight studio albums in, Hot Chip remain as vital as ever: playful, profound and perpetually locked in the groove. Today, they announce their first Best Of album, Joy In Repetition will be released on September 5th. Mapping out an artistic evolution from DIY beginnings into "the greatest British pop group of their generation" (The Guardian) with six Top 20 albums, a Mercury Music Prize nomination, sell-out residencies at London's Brixton Academy and list of collaborators that includes David Byrne, Jarvis Cocker, Robert Wyatt and Brian Eno.
Joy In Repetition is a collection shaped by dancefloors, bedroom studios, festival stages and friendship. The record's title – alluding to both the lyrics of their career-defining track and one of Alexis Taylor's favourite Prince songs – captures something elemental about the band: a fascination with rhythm, but also the exuberant act of making those things, together, over and over and over and over and over. In another nod to "Over and Over", the album's artwork by the legendary Sir Peter Blake features a painted monkey with a miniature cymbal.
Following Coming On Strongerer, last year's 20th anniversary reissue, Joy In Repetition picks up where their 2004 debut left off, with Taylor, Joe Goddard, Owen Clarke, Al Doyle and Felix Martin as a fully realised group. Joy In Repetition covers the whole emotional experience of a Hot Chip album, from the stone-cold bangers of "Ready For The Floor", "I Feel Better", "Flutes" and "Over and Over" to their more melancholic and tender moments found on the likes of "Boy From School", "Look At Where We Are" and "Melody of Love" – the anthology also features a brand-new song "Devotion".
Repetition is more than a compositional tool for Hot Chip; it's a philosophy. "There's joy in doing something again and again," says Taylor. "That's true of rhythms, of grooves and of making records together for 20 years. We're still doing it. We still love doing it."There have been numerous side projects over the years and parallel careers, notably Al Doyle joining LCD Soundsystem in 2005, but Hot Chip always return to each other. It's a sentiment encapsulated by new song "Devotion" which closes the compilation. A buoyant whirl of psych-pop that calls to mind The Beach Boys sipping Piña Coladas with Hall & Oates and asks for a rock in uncertain times, the song is "a celebration of the devotion to doing this project together," Taylor continues, as well as their devotion to their craft. "I think of Joe as being like Brian Wilson, with this huge dedication to finding how to make the most amazing pop music," he adds.
The video, directed by Will Kindrick and filmed in Japan, takes devotion to one's craft down a different tangent. Kindrick says: "I've spent a lot of time shooting in Japan recently, and have become obsessed with keibiin (Japanese security guards). I was waiting for a train and noticed a stoic security guard standing on the platform, his arm extended, robotically waving what looked like a lightsabre, and the most hyper-focused stare I've ever seen in my life. There was nothing behind those eyes but pure devotion to his craft. I started thinking about these humble heroes hitting the streets every morning—rain or shine—guiding us through traffic, telling us where to park, protecting us from obliviously stepping into active construction zones. What about the individual underneath the helmet? This video is me pouring one out on the curb for the devoted, hard-working keibiin everywhere!"
Though they'd bristle at the weighty notion of their 'legacy', the band have been delicately contemplating the "essence of Hot Chip" of late. Are they festival favourites doing it for the misfits? Outsiders who've burrowed their own lane between indie, dance and pop? A band on a mission to find humanity in the machinery? Or one whose longevity, as Pitchfork once wrote, "is proof positive that you can build a band around the concept of 'emotional intelligence'?"
All of the above. Joy In Repetition isn't only a retrospective, it's a document of Hot Chip's commitment to joy, curiosity and each other. "It's strange, you can't go back to the feeling of those early days," says Clarke. "But there's something comforting about that. These records hold those memories for us. And it's the shared experience that connects it all."
Hot Chip will celebrate the release of Joy In Repetition with a show at London's Troxy on September 5th.

Revered producer and composer Daniel Avery today shares 'Greasy off the Racing Line', the latest single from his forthcoming sixth studio album Tremor (out October 31st via Domino). The track sees Avery join forces with Alison Mosshart of The Kills, a dream collaboration that results in one of the album's most vital moments.
Speaking on the track, Avery explains: "In many ways 'Greasy off the Racing Line' is the oil-soaked central cog of the album. A late-night drive through the darkened roads of the record. I've dreamt of working with Alison Mosshart for years - the first Kills music hit at the perfect time in my life, just as I was starting to make my own way out into the nighttime, Alison's voice literally soundtracking some of my most formative footsteps into the most exciting of worlds. I love everything she has done, she's as real as they come and it's an honour to have her be a part of this Tremor collective."
'Greasy off the Racing Line' sits at the heart of Tremor, Avery's most ambitious and transportive body of work to date. The record channels every corner of his sound: euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient soundscape and industrial bliss, while remaining unmistakably his own. Across its widescreen arc, Avery welcomes an inspiring cast of collaborators including Mosshart, Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe.
Introduced earlier this year with lead single 'Rapture In Blue' featuring SOPHIE collaborator Cecile Believe and Ride's Andy Bell, Tremor is a communal project built on spirit and connection. "This is a living and breathing collective," says Avery. "Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists."
Marking his debut on Domino, the album was mixed by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails) and David Wrench (FKA twigs, Frank Ocean), and mastered by Heba Kadry - each vital to the creative fabric of the record. A new live show will launch with Tremor, culminating at London's prestigious Barbican on 8th November which sold out in a record 3 days.

Het is een tijd stil geweest rond de Antwerpse post-metalband ONRUST, maar vandaag doorbrengen ze die stilte met nieuw materiaal. Met de single “Wanhoop” zet de vijfkoppige band de toon voor hun aankomende album “Van Woede tot Wanhoop”. Die plaat komt uit op 17 oktober 2025 op het gerenommeerde Belgische post-rock label dunk!records.
“Wanhoop” is meteen een van de meest intense en energieke songs van de plaat en gaat over het gevoel vast te zitten in een wereld die steeds donkerder wordt. Hoe kwaad je je ook maakt over alles wat misloopt, het voelt vaak als een druppel op een hete plaat. Het nummer vangt precies dat kantelpunt, wanneer frustratie en machteloosheid omslaan in pure wanhoop.
ONRUST klinkt compromisloos en ongefilterd, een band die vanuit eigen kracht en visie werkt en geen genoegen neemt met half werk. Het album werd volledig in eigen beheer opgenomen, gemixt en gemasterd. De band laat zich inspireren door post-metal, sludge en hardcore, maar zoekt steeds naar een eigen geluid.

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, na 25 jaar terug in België - Romeo & Juliet in Brussel en Antwerpen, oktober 2026
Na meer dan vijfentwintig jaar keren Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo terug naar België. In oktober 2026 houdt de prestigieuze compagnie halt in Brussel en Antwerpen met één van hun iconische performances: Romeo & Juliet, een choreografie van Jean-Christophe Maillot op muziek van Sergei Prokofjev.

Een intieme ode aan de kracht van kwetsbaarheid met een Belgisch top kwartet
Componist, muzikant en producer Sam Vloemans stelt met trots zijn nieuwe album ‘Bord du Nord II’ voor. Na een eerste album in 2008 krijgt het project een nieuw leven met een bezwerende verzameling composities, uitgevoerd door een droom bezetting met Gwen Cresens (accordeon/bandoneon), Dominique Vantomme (piano) en Lara Rosseel (contrabas).
‘Bord du Nord II’ is muziek om met gesloten ogen naar te luisteren. Elk nummer is een miniatuur landschap waarin de luisteraar kan verdwalen, een soundtrack voor eigen filmische momenten. De trompet van Vloemans weent en zucht, de accordeon van Cresens fluistert verhalen, terwijl de bas en piano een bedding vormen van warme diepte en breekbare stilte. Het album is een pure ode aan de kracht van kwetsbaarheid.

Na de lovend ontvangen debuut-EP ‘A Few Notes’ uit 2023 (zie singles ‘The Line’, ‘Dans La Plaine’ en ‘Suddenly’) keert onze Parijse singer-songwriter Aure terug met nieuwe single ‘The Sailors' Tales’ een song die zich, wiegend op een dromerig walsritme, ontvouwt tot een pure en betoverende folkparel.
Het nummer is een mijmering over de horizonlijn die je kunt zien, maar die fysiek niet bestaat. Het is de eerste single van Aures debuutalbum (voorzien voor maart '26) dat gaat over het doormaken van veranderingen. Thema's als overgangen en en de perceptie van wat wel of niet echt is, keren doorheen het album terug.
Aure (Delaroière) stelde in het voorjaar van 2024 haar EP voor in Le Botanique en Paradiso en tourde daarna door Europa met Andy Shauf. Begin dit jaar werd ze voor het eerst moeder (zoon Yona), en in oktober keert ze terug op het podium. Haar eerste show is op het Parijse showcasefestival MaMA (ideaal festival voor een kersverse moeder, natuurlijk), waar ze in de legendarische (Brel! Brassens!) concertzaal Les Trois Baudets op Montmartre het door ons label gecureerde podium opent, naast Dressed Like Boys en Ão.

Curtis Harding is proof of the strange magic that happens when musical prowess meets unbridled imagination. Today the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter announces his fourth full-length album, a true-to-life reflection he soon expanded into an elaborate concept album about a pilot lost in space. Coming out September 5, Departures & Arrivals: Adventures of Captain Curt merges the lavish scope of a space opera with the pure feeling of classic soul—ultimately bringing an even greater potency to his wildly eclectic sound.
“Because I’m away from home so much of the time, a lot of these songs came from feeling adrift and wanting to get back to the ones I love,” he says. “I started envisioning this character who takes a journey and gets lost in space, then ends up traveling through different galaxies and dimensions as he’s trying to find his way back home.” Alongside today’s announcement, he has shared a gorgeously joyful track called “True Love Can’t Be Blind” which speaks to love that endures across a great distance, telegraphing a euphoric infatuation in its radiant piano riffs and rapturous harmonies.
Naming Ridley Scott among his favorite sci-fi auteurs, Harding notes that the extravagant world-building of Departures & Arrivals inspired many of his production choices, including the abundance of symphonic string arrangements supplied by Steve Hackman (a composer who’s worked with such diverse artists as Doja Cat and Andrew Bird). “I’ve always used strings on my records but never to this extent, and everything Steve created just took me to another place,” he points out.
Self-produced at Electric Deluxe Recorders (an Austin studio owned by Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas), Departures & Arrivals serves as the follow-up to If Words Were Flowers—a 2021 release hailed by the likes of UPROXX, who praised Harding for “making some of the best modern soul music out right now.” For Harding, the decision to handle production on his own stemmed from a deep desire to pursue his creative ideals without compromise or restraint. Mostly recorded live with a full band, Departures & Arrivals encompasses everything from moody space-funk to lush baroque-pop to otherworldly psych-rock—all while endlessly spotlighting Harding’s rich and captivating vocals and incandescent guitar work.
“I produced my first album so this felt like a return, although this time I was more confident and capable of sonically going where I wanted to go,” says Harding. “I really love the process of building worlds in the studio, doing what I want in the moment and experimenting with new sounds instead of doing the same thing over and over.”
Departures & Arrivals ushers in a bold new era for Harding while staying true to the profound sense of purpose that’s always fueled his songwriting. “Sometimes when you’re feeling lost, hearing from someone else who’s felt the same way can let you know you’re not alone—that’s really the whole sentiment of the album,” says Harding. “I hope these songs help people to recognize that feeling lost is all part of the journey, and that the journey is what’s most important anyway. And once you realize that, you’re on the right path. You’re already on your way home.”

BIVOUAC FESTIVAL 2025 – BILAN - Des arbres centenaires pour cadre de scène, une piscine au bord de laquelle musarder ou danser, un village, des activités, de quoi se perdre à contempler, des artistes passionnants à voir et à écouter : la 3ème édition du Bivouac Festival a tenu toutes ses promesses.
Sur une jauge de 1000 personnes, nous avons accueilli 750 personnes le vendredi et 600 le samedi. Les prévisions météorologiques pluvieuses ont eu raison des ventes de dernière minute. Et pourtant, le soleil a largement été de la partie, permettant de profiter au grand air, en version estivale !
Nous constatons un virage pour cette édition. Nombre de festivaliers ont fait le choix de rester tout le week-end, là où, pour les précédentes éditions, le public venait sur la journée.
Nouveautés 2025
Notre objectif principal : réduire l’impact carbone des trajets des festivaliers. Pour se faire, plusieurs actions ont été mises en place de sorte à privilégier les mobilités douces.
Une nouvelle scène piscine ! Jusqu’à présent, cette scène existait essentiellement pour prolonger la fête en clôture de soirée. Pour cette édition, nous avons aménagé un espace cosy dont les festivaliers ont pu profiter : un tournois de fléchettes, des jeux traditionnels en bois, un bar à cocktails, un espace chill avec parasols et transats... Le public a pris possession des lieux dès 14h.

CLOCK DVA have announced details of a long-awaited remastered reissue of their debut album, White Souls in Black Suits, available for the first time in 35 years. The album - originally released on in 1980 as a limited cassette on Industrial Records – will be released on 7 November 2025 on grey vinyl and CD, via The Grey Area of Mute, expanded with four bonus tracks from the same era.
"We set out to form a new sound combination," says Clock DVA's Adi Newton. "To combine acoustics and electronics, merging the German electronic wave with the edge of The Stooges, the avant-garde of the French GRM Musique Concrète, and the pioneering audio-visual creativity of The Velvet Underground. To create a harder form of electronic music with real energy."
And the band, who formed in Sheffield in 1978, quickly proved to do just that. Also inspired by science fiction, Russian constructivism and beat literature, Clock DVA soon created a unique sonic alchemy that for the best part of the last half century has proven to be an endlessly influential reference point across everything from post-punk to EBM via industrial and techno.
This singular audio-visual assault quickly saw people take notice. Fellow Sheffield pioneers, Cabaret Voltaire soon became friends and collaborators, as did Throbbing Gristle who released the debut on their imprint, Industrial Records.
The album features a lineup including Newton (voice, synth, clarinet, bowed electric guitar, and tape treatment), founding member Steven James Turner (bass treatment), David J. Hammond (guitar treatment), Charlie Collins (saxophone, flute & percussion), Roger Quail (percussion), and Simon M. Elliott-Kemp (synth), and was recorded at Cabaret Voltaire's Western Works studio.
'Anti-Chance', taken from White Souls in Black Suits, was a direct collaboration with Cabaret Voltaire and saw two of Sheffield's most innovative outfits join forces. "On 'Anti-Chance' we used random tapes from both DVA and Cabaret Voltaire," explains Newton. "It was a direct William Burroughs / Brion Gysin [inspired] audio cut up piece." Chance is fundamental to change.
Such experimentation can be heard all over their debut album which was, astonishingly, recorded in just a single day. "There is a cultivated myth that it was culled from 16 hours of improvisation but I'd venture the true figure is closer to 8 hours," says drummer Roger Quail. It's a record that is dark, eerie and brooding with a tense atmosphere as screeching guitars nestle up alongside toots of sax and electronic sci-fi-like soundscape explorations. It was a sound befitting of a group of people who were hell-bent on exploring new terrain. "Adi used to talk about being kinetic a lot around this time," recalls Quail. "Keep moving, don't stand still – and I think this restlessness informs much of the music around this time." And, for Quail, he's been knocked sideways revisiting the work ahead of its re-release. "I hadn't heard White Souls... since the early 90s," he says. "I'm blown away by the sound of this new master. There's a bit where we actually appear to invent Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden - to my ears anyway."
The group built up a fierce reputation as one of Sheffield's most ferocious live outfits who could melt minds and charge the atmosphere of a room like few others. "We did have a reputation as being wild and unpredictable," explains Newton. "But that was good because it gave us an edge." The stage was also a means for the group to explore with their burgeoning visual presence, which has since become a staple part of their identity and is something they are considered as pioneering for as their sonics. "For me it was always a staging, like theatre," Newton explains. "We have developed visuals throughout the DVA history, from using 8mm film and 35mm film slides in the early days and via the earliest digital computer graphics back in 1987 with the Amiga B2000 to the present day with visual artists we have worked with, along with our own creations."

London-based producer Oscar Farrell brengt op 5 september de EP So Far South uit. Met zijn nieuwste EP laat hij horen dat zijn sound nog verder is verdiept tot een echte clubsound, maar ook invloeden heeft uit meditatieve lofi.
Farrell werkt hard aan de weg binnen het dance genre en stond onder meer voor drie sets op Glastonbury. Op zijn nieuwste EP staat ook een samenwerking met singer-songwriter Sampha, die eerdere samenwerkingen met onder andere Drake, Kendrick Lamar en Frank Ocean had. De tracks klinken zowel intiem als groots. Het is muziek voor onbewaakte momenten, of je nu alleen bent of midden op een volle dansvloer. Daarmee laat Farrell opnieuw horen waar hij steeds meer om bekendstaat: dansmuziek maken met een emotionele kern die verder reikt dan de club.

De Belgische post-metalband Juneau heeft hun nieuwe single ‘Heave’ uitgebracht. Het is het eerste nummer dat wordt onthuld van hun aankomende tweede studioalbum.
Juneau staat bekend om hun rauwe energie, donkere sfeer en emotioneel geladen muziek. Met ‘Heave’ zet het trio een gedurfde stap vooruit en openen ze een nieuw hoofdstuk in hun muzikale verhaal. Het nummer combineert meeslepende melodieën met zware, verpletterende riffs en weet zo een mooie balans te vinden tussen intensiteit en kwetsbaarheid, én blijft het tegelijkertijd trouw aan de sound van de band.
Met hun debuutalbum heeft Juneau al een plaats veroverd in de Belgische undergroundscene en internationale aandacht getrokken. Het tweede album belooft hun geluid en hun bereik nog verder te vergroten. ‘Heave’ laat alvast horen dat dit hun meest ambitieuze werk tot nu toe kan worden.

Over Juneau:
Juneau is een alternatieve metalband uit Heist-op-den-Berg, Antwerpen. Het trio staat bekend om zijn sfeervolle en dynamische sound en combineert elementen van postrock, doom, black metal en andere heavy genres tot een unieke muzikale identiteit die fans in België en daarbuiten aanspreekt.
De band werd opgericht in 2019 en bestaat uit drummer Soren Van Bauwel en gitaristen Kevin Cravillon en Antoon Verbeeck. Hun geluid wordt vaak gekenmerkt door rijke gitaartexturen en ingewikkelde en dynamische drumpartijen. Te midden van al het gitaargeweld heeft de band ook oor naar melodieuze segmenten om hun werk naar een emotioneel niveau te tillen.
Juneau trok voor het eerst de aandacht in de Belgische muziekscene met hun debuut-EP (2020), waarop ze lieten horen dat ze melodieuze hooks konden combineren met sfeervolle elementen. Naarmate hun fanbase groeide, traden ze op in verschillende zalen in België en verwierven ze al snel een reputatie voor hun boeiende liveshows en de rauwe emotie die ze op het podium brachten.
In de loop van de tijd bleef Juneau hun geluid verder ontwikkelen met de release van het full album Cloak (2021). In 2023 en 2024 speelde het trio hun eerste headliner-shows in België én in het buitenland en introduceerden ze enkele nieuwe nummers in hun setlist.
In oktober 2025 brengt Juneau een nieuw album uit, ‘Scraps of the Final Lights’, waarmee ze hun grenzen willen blijven verleggen met hun creativiteit en toewijding voor hun vak

De in Brussel geboren multidisciplinaire artiest en producer Shungu kondigt morgen zijn nieuwe album Faith in the Unknown aan, dat op 7 november uitkomt via Lex Records.
Als natuurlijk curator in zijn gerenommeerde carrière als producer, vertegenwoordigt dit album een lang gekoesterde droom: het vastleggen van een gemeenschap van stemmen, energieën en gevoeligheden die hem inspireren. Die gemeenschap omvat de muzikale zielsverwanten van Shungu zoals Pink Siifu, Liv.e, Navy Blue, Fly Anakin, Maxo, dreamcastmoe, Goya Gumbani, Fatima, Chester Watson, Ruqqiyah en ZEKEULTRA.
Naast het nieuws over het album deelt Shungu ook de nieuwe single "Stay Alive" met de Amerikaanse artiest Pink Siifu, die op vier nummers van het album te horen is. Het nieuwe nummer, Shungu's tweede voorproefje van het aankomende album na "Talk to the Mass" met Fly Anakin, Goya Gumbani en Fatima, is een langzaam brandende, G-funk-geïnspireerde track die Shungu's vermogen toont om instrumentals te maken die perfect aansluiten bij de stijlen van zijn features.
Over zijn creatieve relatie met Siifu zegt Shungu: "Werken met Siifu is altijd moeiteloos, er is een natuurlijke flow in alles wat we creëren. Hij is een van die zeldzame artiesten met wie je door zoveel dimensies kunt reizen – spiritueel, sonisch, emotioneel – zonder dat het ooit geforceerd voelt. Het is alsof je je tegelijk door mist en helderheid beweegt."

De veelzijdige Brusselse producer ShunGu heeft zich gevestigd als een onmisbare figuur binnen de underground beatscene.
