V2 Records is happy to announce that 2023's De Nieuwe Lichting winner Isaac Roux has signed to the record company. In 2024 Isaac Roux released his debut album Troubled Waters. In the fall of this year he will travel to France to record his follow-up album.

Trailblazing electronic pop duo Purity Ring announce their highly-anticipated self-titled LP due out on September 26 via the fellowship. Their new single, "place of my own" out today serves as a fresh preview to the album.
"place of my own", is a euphoric and pulsating 2025 trance anthem that takes us out of place and time. The words "all i want is a place of my own / some way to be alone" serve as a spell over the blissful synth melodies that have become a signature of Purity Ring's sound. The track takes the listener to a series of disappearing places: "come find me where the ocean's gleaming off the sky / come find me where the cliffside calls / we're out of time." Yearning for a sense of belonging amid places that are slowly fading out of view on a burning planet. This new single brings us the glimmering satisfaction we've come to expect from this duo, yet it lingers with the melancholy feeling of slipping away.
"This is one of those songs that came into being with ease and immediacy. We were in a hazy forest in the mountains, and the beat felt just like the cloud we were in. It was succinct and ready for the type of lyrics that imbued places we dream of, places we wish we could exist in, places we see everyday but are just out of reach. In the end, this song is meant as a sort of spell in the way that maybe we can reach these places if we watch our steps carefully, if we take the time to build them for ourselves."
Purity Ring's self-titled fourth album marks the beginning of a bold new chapter as the band's most immersive release to date. Long known for their fusion of body horror imagery and ethereal electronics, the duo now shift their focus from the physical to the fantastical, crafting a concept album that serves as the soundtrack to an imagined RPG. Inspired by games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X, the record tells the story of two hapless characters - embodiments of mj and Corin - on a journey to build a kinder world amid the ruins of a broken one. But this is no escapist fantasy: it is the first step of forbidden dreaming, of imagining a place where the vulnerable are heeded, where grief is spoken aloud and held collectively, where family is a verb rather than a noun, where hope and home can bloom together.

Na het succesvolle Autofiction en hun grootste shows tot nu toe, keert Suede terug met hun tiende plaat: intens, urgent en vol van de energie die hun live-reputatie zo legendarisch maakt.
Brett Anderson over het album:
"Als Autofiction onze punkplaat was, is Antidepressants onze postpunkplaat. Het gaat over de spanningen van het moderne leven - paranoia, angst, neurose. We zoeken allemaal naar verbinding in een wereld die steeds meer ontwricht is. Dit is gebroken muziek voor gebroken mensen."
Oorspronkelijk begon het album als soundtrack voor een performance-art-project, maar na drie jaar touren en het intensieve contact met het publiek, gooide de band het roer volledig om. Die collectieve energie moest de studio in. Het resultaat is een plaat die rechtstreeks uit hun livebeleving voortkomt.
Antidepressants werd live opgenomen met hun vaste producer Ed Buller (sinds The Drowners in 1992). De band werkte in ICP Studios (België), RAK en Sleeper Sounds (Londen), en RMV (Zweden).
35 jaar in hun carrière voelt Suede zich creatief nog altijd op stoom. Brett: "Het is echt spannend om in deze band te zitten. Het voelt alsof we nog steeds grenzen verleggen." Bassist Mat Osman noemt het: "Een groots, ambitieus album. Een plaat voor het grote podium."
Naast die muzikale urgentie laat Antidepressants ook Bretts meest persoonlijke songwriting tot nu toe horen. Disintegrate, de eerste single, is een anthem over de aanvaarding van sterfelijkheid, die onze angst voor de dood omzet in een duistere, bijna opbeurende viering van het einde. Typisch voor de dubbele gelaagdheid die het hele album kenmerkt.

Suede Takeover (uitverkocht!): begint op 13 en 14 september in de Royal Festival Hall met twee verrassingssets vol geliefde klassiekers, hits en gloednieuw materiaal. Op 17 september speelt de band een bijzondere en intieme off-mic avond in de Purcell Room. De residentie wordt op 19 september afgesloten in de Queen Elizabeth Hall, met Suede's allereerste volledige symfonische show als headliner, in samenwerking met de Paraorchestra.

Afgelopen donderdag 14 augustus deelde Pommelien Thijs een nieuw voorproefje van haar tweede album ‘Gedoe’, dat op 3 oktober verschijnt. ‘Ben je klaar?’ – de openingssong van het album – is een drieluik waarin stijlen als folk, rock en electronica Pommelien’s gemoedstoestand op urgente wijze reflecteren. De single kwam meteen op #1 binnen in de Spotify charts, en op #2 in de Ultratop charts, net onder ‘Atlas’. Vandaag releaset Pommelien de bijhorende videoclip, waarvoor ze de regie en screenwriting opnieuw op zich nam.
“Dat vind ik leuk aan ‘Ben je klaar?’: dat je drie delen hebt waarin je elkaar telkens weer op een andere plek in het verhaal ontmoet. Je praat bij een relatiebreuk eerst met jezelf, daarna met de ander, en gaandeweg komt er boosheid bij. Het is mooi dat je dat allemaal in drie minuten en veertig seconden kan vangen."
Net als bij haar hit ‘Atlas’ heeft Pommelien de videoclip voor ‘Ben je klaar?’ zelf geregisseerd. “Het speelt zich af in een verhoorkamer waar een andere Pommelien zit. In de andere kamer zit nog een ik, verkleed als alien. Dat concept paste goed bij het bevreemdende gevoel waaruit de song is ontstaan — en bij het idee van jezelf observeren. Dat leek me een mooi vertrekpunt voor een nummer dat klinkt vanuit een break-up. Misschien ís het dat ook, want ‘Ben je klaar?’ is een samenraapsel van alles.”

Afgelopen weekend schreef Pommelien Thijs ook nog eens muziekgeschiedenis. Pommelien staat met haar nummer ‘Atlas’ voor de achttiende week op nummer één in de Ultratop 50, en verbreekt daarmee het zes jaar oude record van ‘Dance Monkey’ van Tones and I en ‘Blinding Lights’ van The Weekend.

Following the recent news that they have joined the Ghostly International family, TOPS announce details of a forthcoming new album, Bury the Key, due for release on August 22nd. The announcement comes accompanied by a brand new single and tour dates across the UK, Europe and North America.
TOPS - musicians Jane Penny, David Carriere, Marta Cikojevic and Riley Fleck - write timeless music that reliably threads immediacy and depth. Bury the Key, their first full-length since 2020 and with new label home Ghostly International, is a captivating reintroduction for the Montréal band: ever refined, undoubtedly masters of their melodic craft yet unafraid of evolving and testing themselves against different, at times darker tones.
The album faces feelings once locked away, engaging the give-and-take between happiness, hedonism, and self-destruction. While often inhabited by fictional figures, their glowing, grooving, self-produced songs draw from personal observations: intimacy (both inside and outside the band), toxic behavior, drug use, and apocalyptic dread. When recording started, they noticed a shift and leaned in, jokingly dubbed "evil TOPS," says Penny. "We're always kind of seen as a soft band or like naive or friendly in a Canadian way, but we made it a challenge to really channel the world around us." Through the lens of a looming epoch and the clarity that comes with age, TOPS dip into a more sinister disco realm with Bury the Key, giving their soft-focus sophisti-pop a sharpened edge.
The band share the album's centrepiece with new single "Chlorine," an "empty love" ballad that crosses toxins, the nostalgia of chemical-filled waterparks, and the comfort of an unhealthy bar night.
Jane explains: "At one point I was caught in a cycle of going out to the bar hoping that I would cross paths with a certain person who was not good for me but who I felt irresistibly drawn to. I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, where it's very cold and I used to go to the pool a lot in the winter. It's also where I first started going to bars to drink with my friends. I was thinking about alcohol and chlorine both being poison, thinking about all the people that I've tried to be close to that have ended up being bad for me, how I still love them all, and I wrote the song 'Chlorine.'"
Emerging from Montréal's DIY scene in the early 2010s as progenitors of an indie pop sound still radiating its influence across the contemporary landscape, TOPS' secret to longevity is simple: keep the songwriting honest and open-hearted and the recording unforced yet pristine, allowing for a band dynamic deeply attuned at every level. Their songs outline the silhouettes of life, and as time goes on - now five LPs, countless tours, and various side projects in - TOPS have only gotten better at what they do.
The voice of TOPS is Jane Penny, a songwriter, producer, flutist, and singer whose hushed delivery hosts a deceivingly vast range of expression and has surely informed a wave of today's greats from Men I Trust to Clairo. Her lyrical subjects never go out of style: dynamics of power, desire, struggles to be seen, having love requited or otherwise. Following her move back to Montréal and first solo release in 2024, Penny returns to the neighbourhoods of her former self a step wiser; the sleek cars and forever highways of her songs, penned with her rhythmic counterpart David Carriere, find assured depth in Bury the Key. Carriere, a songwriter, producer, and guitarist with a flair for high-sheen hooks and the relentless drive to match (other projects include DVC Refreshments and Born At Midnite), adds to his bag of tonal and textural tricks. Drummer Riley Fleck, the band's heartbeat since day one and occasional gun for others (Jessica Pratt's live band as of late), broadens his utility, venturing into higher and harder tempos. Keyboardist Marta Cikojevic, who joined TOPS in 2017 just before the landmark I Feel Alive and in 2022 released her breakout debut as Marci (produced by Carriere), expands her role here as well, joining the writing process and backing Penny for some of the record's fullest, most satisfying vocal lines.
It is rare to see a band so aligned and complete, self-sufficient, specialised but agile and ambitious, reaching an elite level of pop precision as their legacy remains largely unwritten. They've toured the world over, from major festivals to the dingiest of dives, sleeping on floors and tour-managing themselves for years, manifesting their success the hard way. Beyond work ethic, it also comes down to chemistry and taste; when pressed for which artists get airplay in their van, some expected names appear, Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan, but dig deeper and the veneer of artists like China Crisis, Prefab Sprout, and Francois Hardy, Missing Persons, and Everything But the Girl start to fill out the playlist. An instinct for luster and thrills, songs both sweet and bleak, brings the band to Bury the Key, a prismatic album polished out of the rough. Lady Linn & Her Magnificent Seven share the third single The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia of their upcoming album Midnight Sun, a tribute album to the night which will be released on October 17. The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia was originally written by Bobby Russell and released by Vicki Lawrence in 1972. The single became a massive hit and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
Although the song sounds happy, it actually holds a strong political message as it was an indictment of the corrupt justice system in Georgia, USA. The song is told from the perspective of a woman and tells the story of her brother, who returns home and discovers that his wife might be cheating on him with his best friend, Andy. Drunk and angry, he goes to confront Andy. Later, Andy is found dead, and her brother is wrongfully convicted and hanged for the murder. Only at the end does the narrator reveal that she was the one who killed Andy (and also her brother's wife).
Lady Linn explains her love for this song: "The song's build up is so good, both musically as lyric wise. I got to know this song a long time ago when I was touring as a guest artist in a project called Murder Ballads."
The song is a perfect example of Lady Linn's new record Midnight Sun, which is a collection of 11 songs from a wide range of artists and genres that inspired her over time. "I only selected songs I have a real connection with, not because they happened to fit the theme of the album." Round Midnight, for instance, is one of the first jazz songs she got to know ("I even used it for an entrance examination once"), and Strangers In The Night reminds her of her grandfather, who introduced her to jazz music and often played the song on organ. An essential artist is Nina Simone, who's always been a big inspiration for Lady Linn. "She wrote Theme from Middle Of The Night for a movie and the lyrics are so beautiful: "to breakfast with the moon..." I like those old-fashioned, poetic lyrics." But the album is not only jazz standards. Lady Linn's love for 60s and 70s classic rock is also represented by The Eagles (One Of These Nights), JJ Cale (After Midnight) and Stevie Nicks (Nightbird). "
For Midnight Sun, Lady Linn once again assembled a group of exceptional musicians: Bart Van Caenegem on piano (De Frivole Framboos, Gwen Cresens Eclectica Quartet, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, High Voltage Sextet) , Filip Vandebril on double bass (Black Flower, Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orchestra, Kaaiman, Valerie Solanas, Andy & The Androids), Simon Segers on drums (De Beren Gieren, Black Flower, Sylvie Kreusch, Stadt), Yves Fernandez on trumpet (Monsieur Fernand, Hot Lips, Belle Perez, The Whodads, Admiral Freebee), Frederik Heirman on trombone (Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Lara Rosseel Orchestra, The Whodads, Hellfighter) and Marc De Maeseneer on baritone saxophone (Back Back, Admiral Freebee, The Whodads, Karen Willems Terre Sol 4, Madou). Zet 8 mei 2026 in je agenda: dan kleurt Vorst Nationaal in de warme, gouden tinten van Olivia Dean. De Britse pop- en soul-sensatie, genomineerd voor de Mercury Prize en alom geprezen om haar ontwapenende authenticiteit, brengt haar langverwachte tour The Art of Loving Live naar Brussel.
Olivia Dean is niet zomaar een stem. Haar songs voelen als intieme dagboekbladzijden die tegelijk groot genoeg zijn om een zaal te laten dansen. Met Messy (2023) brak ze door tot de hoogste regionen van de UK Albums Chart (#4) en werd ze een vaste naam in de internationale popscene. Het leverde haar niet alleen een Mercury-nominatie op, maar ook een reputatie als een van de meest veelbelovende stemmen van haar generatie. Tijdens 'Golden Hour' bracht Oscar and the Wolf een adembenemende, high-energy headline show voor een uitzinnig publiek van meer dan 50.000 mensen. Het podium – inclusief zijn imposante LED-kubus – kwam tot leven met meer dan 30 dansers, een krachtige liveband, filmische visuals en een regen van confetti die de hemel kleurde. Het was opnieuw méér dan een concert — het was een triomfantelijke odyssee van muziek, choreo's en pure emotie, die Max Colombie's (Oscar and the Wolf) krachtige reis uit de schaduw van verslaving naar een stralend nieuw hoofdstuk vertelde. Pukkelpop is altijd een belangrijke mijlpaal in dat verhaal geweest.
Na zijn debuut in 2012 op het intieme Club-podium, zag het festival hem uitgroeien tot de superster die hij vandaag is. In 2022 werd Pukkelpop met de livepremière van "Warrior" zelfs het decor van zijn monumentale comeback na een donkere periode, en vormde het de start van het Taste-tijdperk. Vanavond neemt dat tijdperk zijn laatste buiging, en opent het de deur naar een nieuw, spannend begin.
F*CK OFF, F*CK HARD
Naast een setlist vol publieksfavorieten en deep cuts uit zijn vierde album Taste, trakteerde Max Colombie zijn fans op iets volledig onverwachts — de live première van een onuitgebracht nummer. Het stomende "FUCK HARD" is een vurige voorbode van wat Taste nog te bieden heeft: ongefilterd, compromisloos en doordrenkt van rauwe emotie. Het is een nummer dat pulseert van bevrijding, gedreven door instinct in plaats van remming, en dat luisteraars uitdaagt hun meest authentieke zelf te omarmen. Wordt vervolgd...
Geen finale, maar een bis
Oscar and the Wolf's Pukkelpop-show was niet zomaar het slotstuk van een opmerkelijke comeback — het voelde als een overwinningsronde. Na twee uitverkochte Sportpaleis-shows in maart, een Europese tour en een wervelwind van festivalshows afgelopen zomer, droeg de avond de energie van een bisronde die weigert uit te doven. In oktober neemt Max Colombie Taste nog één laatste keer mee de wereld rond, met internationale shows in Istanbul, Tbilisi, Dubai, Berlijn en Barcelona, een krachtige en feestelijke slot van een onvergetelijk tijdperk, terwijl het nieuwe tijdperk al in de startblokken staat.

THE WHALE
De indrukwekkende en veelzijdige, internationale carrière van Chantal Acda krijgt er op 19 september 2025 een mooi hoofdstuk bij met het nieuwe album ‘The Whale'.
2024 markeerde een verschuiving in Chantal Acda's benadering van het schrijven van muziek. Ze besloot een nieuw album te maken in samenwerking met de band waarmee ze al meer dan tien jaar toert als de Chantal Acda Band: EricThielemans, Alan Gevaert, Gaëtan Vandewoude en Niels Van Heertum; muzikanten die elkaar door en door kennen en vertrouwen. Waar ze vroeger de enige schrijver was, wilde ze nu dat de muziek de gevoeligheden en instincten van elk lid zou weerspiegelen; een echte gezamenlijke inspanning.
"Voor het eerst zijn de teksten geïnspireerd op verhalen die niet van mijzelf zijn. Ze zijn universeel, maar verbonden met de verhalen die ik van de bandleden heb gekregen. Het is als een boek dat we allemaal samen hebben geschreven", zegt Chantal.
Het geluid van ‘The Whale’ is ruiger en rock-achtiger dan de vorige projecten van Chantal, maar haar karakteristieke gevoel voor introspectie en breekbaarheid wordt geen moment uit het oog verloren.
Het nieuwe album is geproduceerd door Chris Eckman ( The Walkabouts) en wordt op 19 september 2025 uitgebracht.
Singles als “Heads” en “Make It Work” werden opgenomen in playlists van nationale radiozenders in België, Nederland, het VK, ...De Duitse editie van Rolling Stone selecteerde "Heads" voor de CD die samen met de september editie van haar magazine verdeeld wordt.
CHANTAL ACDA
De in Nederland geboren Chantal Acda (1978), die nu in België woont, maakt sinds 2006 muziek onder de naam Sleepingdog. Tussen 2006 en 2011 releasete ze onder die naam drie albums, met ‘With Our Heads in the Clouds and Our Hearts in the Fields’ als orgelpunt. Voor dat album werkte ze samen met Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory For The Sullen), met wie ze in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en de BeNeLux tourde in 2011, samen met de band Low.
Daarna was de tijd rijp voor een eerste onversneden soloplaat. Omdat Chantal Acda in groepen zoals Isbells, True Bypass en Marble Sounds haar strepen had verdiend, was ze zich bewust van de patronen waarin we als mensen allemaal vervallen. Met die filosofie in het achterhoofd zocht ze gelijkgezinden om een album vol vrijheid, intensiteit en betekenis op te nemen. Die vond ze in de Duitse pianist en producer Nils Frahm (Ólafur Arnalds, Woodkid), de IJslandse celliste Gyða Valtysdottir (Múm) en de de Amerikaanse multi-instrumentalisten Peter Broderick (Efterklang) en Shahzad Ismaily (Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog).
Na het eerste solo-album, ‘Let Your Hands Be My Guide’ (Gizeh Records, 2013), ging Chantal steeds meer op zoek naar connectie met de buitenwereld met de albums ‘The Sparkle In Our Flaws’ (2015) en ‘Bounce Back’ (2017). Daarnaast nam ze live muziek op met de band waarmee ze doorheen Europa tourde, en met de gerenommeerde jazzgitarist Bill Frisell (John Zorn, Paul Motian). ‘Live at Jazz Middelheim’ verscheen in 2018. Voor deze releases werkte Chantal samen met het Duitse label Glitterhouse.
In 2019 creëerde Chantal met ‘Pūwawau’ een muzikale theaterperformance voor het Oerol Festival in Nederland, samen met Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Thom Yorke, Sigur Rós) en zangers van het Nederlands Kamerkoor. De muziek van deze voorstelling verscheen in 2019.
In 2021 releasete Chantal het album ‘Saturday Moon’. Daarvoor dook ze de studio in met haar liveband (Eric Thielemans, Alan Gevaert, Gaëtan Vandewoude en Niels Van Heertum), maar ook met Bill Frisell, Shahzad Ismaily en Mimi en Alan Sparhawk (Low). Nog tijdens de coronacrisis begon ze een nieuw project met de Italiaanse componist en pianist Bruno Bavota. Die samenwerking leidde tot het album ‘A Closer Distance’, verschenen in 2022 op het label Temporary Residence uit Brooklyn. Met deze albums, die beiden erg positief onthaald werden, bleef Chantal zowel nationaal als internationaal groeien.
Het volgende project van Chantal Acda getuigt van haar tomeloze ambitie. Nadat ze voornamelijk naam maakte met ingetogen kamerpop, wilde ze in het verlengde van haar optreden met Bill Frisell op Jazz Middelheim een album opnemen met grote namen uit de jazzwereld. Het project kreeg de naam Chantal Acda & The Atlantic Drifters. Op het album ‘Silently Held’ (Challenge Records, 2024) spelen artiesten als Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan, Eric Thielemans, Shahzad Ismaily, Colin Stetson, Jozef Dumoulin, Niels Van Heertum en Joachim Badenhorst mee. In de zomer van 2025 werd dit album genomineerd voor een Edison, de meest prestigieuze muziekprijs in Nederland.
Chantal is ook lid van de bands Distance, Light & Sky (met Chris Eckman van The Walkabouts en Eric Thielemans) en Isbells.
Aug 25 single 'hit the vierge'
Chantal Acda: "Hit The Verge” geeft het gevoel weer van in de auto zitten terwijl de regen langs je raam stroomt. Buiten is er slecht nieuws, chaos en verwarring, maar binnen heerst een rustige afzondering. De auto wordt een cocon, een plek waar je op adem kunt komen terwijl de wereld voorbij raast. Het nummer straalt zowel onrust als rust uit: de ruitenwissers tikken een rustig ritme, terwijl de radio de buitenwereld binnen laat sijpelen. Tussen de regendruppels en de verre koplampen ontstaat een klein, hardnekkig gevoel van hoop. “Hit The Verge” is een soundtrack voor degenen die door een storm reizen, maar blijven geloven dat er verderop een heldere hemel wacht. We moeten blijven geloven dat we hier doorheen komen. Hoe moeilijk het ook mag zijn. Samen."

Following a blistering set on the main stage last year, Pendulum have also announced a very special surprise DJ set at Reading Festival on Thursday August 21st in celebration of the album being released.
A soaring anthem, ‘Guiding Lights ft. AWOLNATION’ dances between an infectiously anthemic chorus made to be screamed across festival mainstages and pulsating riff heavy moments built for the pit.

2025 markeert de terugkeer van Glitterpaard met hun album 'Thursday'. Alle groepsleden brengen een indrukwekkende geschiedenis met zich mee, met eerdere projecten als Millionaire, Marble Sounds, Portland, Mintzkov en Wardrobe.
In 2016 brachten ze een eerbetoon aan de tragische cultfiguur Mark Linkous, de man achter Sparklehorse, en in 2022 brachten ze hun titelloze debuutalbum uit met eigen werk. Met een heleboel nieuwe ideeën keerde Glitterpaard al snel terug naar Studio Swamp in Hoboken. Maar op persoonlijk vlak maakten de bandleden moeilijke tijden door. Met wekelijkse opnamesessies op donderdag vonden ze een manier om in alle rust dingen uit te proberen, sommige dingen achter zich te laten en andere te verfijnen.

Zoals de Germaanse dondergod 'Donar' orde schept in de chaos, zo brachten wekelijkse opnamesessies op donderdag de nodige rust om telkens zaken uit te proberen, in de tussentijd te reflecteren en nadien verder te schaven. Het werkproces achter 'Thursday' werd op deze maniereen therapie en uitweg uit de alledaagse grote en kleine beslommeringen.
Maar turbulente tijden zorgen voor heel wat zelfreflectie.De songs op 'Thursday' kunnen dan ook tot de meest persoonlijke van Bosschaerts en Verckist gerekend worden. Muzikaal zocht de band opnieuw de diepte op, en creëerde een eigen wereld met vele lagen die zichzelf niet telkens vanaf de eerste luisterbeurt prijsgeven. Een debuutplaat moet compromisloos in het gezicht kunnen spuwen, maar op een tweede album moeteen band met twee woorden leren spreken.
En daar is 'Thursday' zeker in geslaagd. Het album laat de veelzijdigheid van Glitterpaard horen: van de ontwapenende, eerlijke hartenpijn van 'LostIn Your Gold', een meerlagige, helende en warme indie song die de luisteraar omarmt, tot de rauwe groove van de dwarse maar erg lekkere teaser 'Mythomania' en van het introspectieve 'Quiet Boys' tot de huppelende naar de Velvets knipogende rock van 'Black Page'. "Make Me Mine" heeft een trieste ondertoon maar beweegt verder op het ritme van een zwoele zomeravond. Elke track laat horen hoe de diverse achtergronden van de bandleden samenkomen tot een volwassen, rijk geluid.
Glitterpaard belooft zijn heerlijk complexe sound en ijzersterke live reputatie van het debuutalbum en bijbehorende tour opnieuw waar te maken. In tijden waarin muziekprojecten als maar individueler naar buiten komen, zweert Glitterpaard bij de kracht van het groepsgebeuren.
Het artwork van 'Thursday'wordt gesierd door gehaakte glitterpaardjes, die fan Pierre Hendrickx als geschenk speciaal voor Glitterpaard maakte.De band verzorgde opnieuw zelf de productie, met drummer Damien Vanderhasselt aan de knoppen. Jerboa Mastering zorgde voor de laatste afwerking.
Thursday geeft weer hoe Glitterpaard de uitdagingen van het leven heeft omgezet in muzikale kracht. Het instrumentale nummer "Days of Jupiter" eindigt met de verklaring: "We bevinden ons op een cruciaal moment in de geschiedenis." Voor Glitterpaard is Thursday dat moment.

Following the release of three critically acclaimed albums for heralded UK label 4AD, British producer & composer SOHN has built a solid fanbase with his unique brand of emotionally rich songwriting and distinctive production. This success of these records led to him working with artists such as BANKS, Kwabs, Rhye and Lana Del Rey, where his transcendent and intricate productions married analog warmth with modern minimalism, creating a powerful sentimental honesty that runs through even his most electronically driven compositions. Hailing originally from London, his musical journey has seen him call Vienna and Los Angeles home, before settling in the forested region of Garraf, Spain.
Having spent time finding solace in his home studio, SOHN now announces the launch of his newly-minted label imprint adaptpivotmove, a home for exploratory, process-driven music that exists outside the boundaries of traditional song form, providing a perfect home for his stirring and elegant new album Albadas (Dawn Songs), announced today for an October 10th release.
Albadas (Dawn Songs) signals a quiet shift in SOHN's creative process, exploring emotion through sound alone rather than through lyrics The album's title is drawn from the Spanish word albada—meaning "dawn song"—and reflects a deeply personal ritual that emerged during a period of emotional and creative upheaval.
Known for his ability to merge analog warmth with contemporary minimalism, the first single 'Let Go' opens with a repetitive, meditative synth setting a spacious tone. Subtle piano phrases gradually weave in, before a single sustained note takes over, intended to symbolise the rising sun, stretching across the sonic landscape.
SOHN explains: "Let Go is a gentle awakening. I captured it live just as the sun's rays found their way into my studio and I hope I somehow channeled that into the sound." In contrast, 'Ascent' starts with a sweeping, wave-like synth, layered with dissonant bursts of melody resulting in an airy, floating tension. He expands: "Ascent was improvised when I awoke feeling anxious, uneasy. The track ended up with a sort of epic conclusion that to me sounds like hope and possibility."
The upcoming album is a quiet, contemplative work that foregrounds melody, mood, and texture. It's music created in the first moments of the early light, at times contemplative, patient and optimistic, at others foreboding and ominous. It encapsulates the potential of a new day and the many roads it may present. On the creation of the record, SOHN explains: "Given what had been happening in the news cycle, words and songs felt somehow inappropriate, and I really struggled to convey emotion in a way that satisfied me," SOHN shares. "I began a morning practice of improvisation—capturing my moods and thoughts before the day began. In a time when words were failing me, these dawn songs came to my rescue."
The album is accompanied by a short film of the same name, created by Catalan artists Carla Cervantes Caro and Mònica Figueras Domènech, shot during their own dawn rituals. Filmed in the Empordà region of Spain in the early hours, the piece is a poetic exploration of observation, hope, fear, and ultimately, love. A reflective and dynamic listening experience, i is the opening of an intriguing new chapter for SOHN, one which focuses on pure, honest creativity and harnessing the essence of what makes us human.
