Na twee bijzonder knappe ep's gemaakt in haar slaapkamer, trekt de Brusselse artiest Uwase met haar derde ep 'ANGELO' de deur naar de grote wereld meer dan ooit open. Haar indie-rock ligt in het verlengde van Frank Ocean, Arlo Parks, Nilüfer Yanya en haar grote heldin Phoebe Bridgers, en toont haar capaciteit om tijdloze parels te maken die je keer op keer opnieuw kunt beluisteren.
De EP verdrijft gekwetste gevoelens en overstijgt emoties die door illusies zijn gevormd, met melodieën die dicht bij haar hart zijn geschetst. Als een emotionele wederopbouw is "ANGELO" het resultaat van een initiatiezoektocht: een reis die balanceert tussen alternatieve rock en een gevoelige, kwetsbare benadering. Samen met haar co-producer Jasper Segers (Sylvie Kreusch) vernieuwt Uwase de codes van de moderne pop met subtiliteit en finesse.
Kan men liefhebben zonder iets terug te verwachten? Kan men zichzelf liefhebben door de ogen van een ander? Waar ligt de essentie van liefde werkelijk? Al deze vragen spelen op de achtergrond van een naam die hemels lijkt, maar bedrieglijk is. ANGELO belichaamt een persoonlijke wedergeboorte, verworven door pijn en twijfel.
De ep is een nieuwe stap in Uwase's onweerstaanbare opmars, verkent verlangen, verblinding en de wederkerigheid van gevoelens. Naïviteit, toxische mannelijkheid en emotionele manipulatie sijpelen door in teksten die doordrenkt zijn van authenticiteit. Van de behoefte aan geruststelling ("Fine") tot het hoogtepunt van reflectie over het 'waarom' van een relatie ("Routine"), bevestigt deze derde EP de veelzijdigheid van een uitzonderlijke artiest die de komende maanden ook de podia gaat veroveren met haar all-female band.

OVER UWASE
Auteur, componist, performer, gitarist en stem van haar generatie, is Uwase ook een producer met een helder inzicht. In de traditie van pioniers zoals Julie McLarnon of avonturiers zoals Caroline Polachek, beheerst de Belgische zangeres elk detail van haar artistieke richting. Voor de co-productie van "ANGELO" werkte ze samen met Jasper Segers, producer en muzikant bekend van zijn werk met Balthazar, Sylvie Kreusch en Oriana Ikomo. Samen in de studio combineerde het duo verleden en heden om een tijdloze instrumentale structuur te creëren. Als nieuwe ster aan de Brusselse indie rock-hemel straalt Uwase met terughoudendheid en een zekere bescheidenheid. Het ging al langer slecht met zijn gezondheid … Regisseur David Lynch is overleden. Hij was de patroonheilige van alle freaks en misfits. Lynch werd 78.
De Amerikaanse regisseur David Lynch is op 78-jarige leeftijd overleden. Dat meldt zijn familie op Facebook. De regisseur, bekend van de serie Twin Peaks en de films Mulholland Drive, The Elephant Man en Blue Velvet, stond bekend om zijn donkere, mysterieuze - en soms ronduit onbegrijpelijke - verhalen, die de grens tussen droom en realiteit lieten vervagen.
Samen met componist Angelo Badalamenti vormde hij een legendarisch duo in de filmgeschiedenis.

Een geheel eigen, veelzijdige sound die zich niet zonder slag of stoot laat vergelijken met andere bands in de hedendaagse rock.
De stem van zangeres Femke Govaerts voegt een vleugje CHVRCHES toe aan de uitgekiende mix van gitaargeweld en elektronica, wat zorgt voor een volwassen sound zonder franjes, die smeekt om live ervaren te worden. Femkes teksten voeren je mee in herkenbare verhalen over het leven, de liefde en het onvermijdelijke verlies, met mentaal welzijn als constante metgezel. Altijd eerlijk, maar altijd hoopvol.

My Morning Jacket is beginning the new year with the announcement of their eagerly awaited new album, is, arriving via ATO Records on Friday, March 21.
Produced by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), is – which marks My Morning Jacket's 10th studio album and first full-length new collection in more than three years – is heralded by today's premiere of the ravishing lead single, "Time Waited," available everywhere now. An official music video directed by Danny Clinch, featuring new performance footage interspersed with archival photos from throughout the band's history, is streaming now on YouTube. A love song for the ages, imbued with equal parts wide-eyed romanticism and wistful recognition of love's intrinsic fragility, "Time Waited" emerged from a sample of a spellbinding piano part lifted from pedal-steel virtuoso Buddy Emmons' lost classic album, Emmons Guitar Inc.
"I made a loop of that piano intro and listened as I went for a walk, and all these melodies started coming to me," says My Morning Jacket vocalist/guitarist Jim James. "For a long time, I didn't have lyrics, but then I had a dream where I was in a café and a song was playing, and the lyrics to that song became the lyrics to 'Time Waited' – the melodies just fit perfectly. And the lyrics are about how flexible time is, how we can bend and warp time, especially if we are following our hearts, the universe and time itself can flow to work with us."
For more than 25 years, My Morning Jacket have achieved an incredibly rare feat in the world of rock 'n' roll – upholding a long-established cultural legacy while sustaining all the curiosity and creative hunger of their very earliest days. In a monumental step for the Louisville, KY-bred five-piece – vocalist/guitarist Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, guitarist Carl Broemel, drummer Patrick Hallahan, keyboardist Bo Koster – is once again expands the limits of their sound and elevates their artistry to unprecedented heights. The result is perhaps the most masterfully realized work yet from a band fully committed to their belief in music as a conduit for revelation of all kinds.
Largely recorded at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, is finds My Morning Jacket deviating from their typically self-produced approach by teaming up with multiple GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O'Brien, one of the most esteemed producers in rock music, known for his extensive work with Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam. For James – who has produced or co-produced all of the band's studio albums since their 1999 debut The Tennessee Fire – the decision to work with O'Brien stemmed from a newfound willingness to open up their process and involve an outside creative force in shaping My Morning Jacket's restlessly inventive yet nuanced form of psych-rock.
"Up until now I've never been able to let go and allow someone else to steer the ship," James says. "It almost felt like an out-of-body experience to step back and give control over to someone who's far more accomplished and made so many more records than us, but in the end I was able to enjoy the process maybe more than I ever have before."
Prior to joining O'Brien in the studio, My Morning Jacket got together for two highly exploratory writing and recording sessions, amassing over a hundred demos before settling upon the 10 eclectic tracks that eventually comprise the finished album. New songs such as the sprawling, album-opening epic, "Out In The Open" and the delightfully warped "Squid Ink" reveal a band whose voracious creative appetite is wholly matched by a deft command of their visionary musicality. When it came time to name the collection, My Morning Jacket chose a title that speaks to the infinitely unpredictable nature of music-making.
"I like how the word is indicates a sense of presence in the now – there's no logic or rationale behind this record; it just is," says James. "All these songs came into existence out of an attempt to connect with something beyond the human experiment, which for me is one of the most beautiful things about music – that connection with something larger than us, yet something we are all equally a part of."
is – which arrives as My Morning Jacket celebrates the 20th anniversary of their 2005's landmark Z, a lavishly acclaimed collection named by Rolling Stone among "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" – represents another milestone in the band's ever-evolving body of work, as well as an opportunity to breathe new energy into their historically stunning and hard-driving live performances. "One of the cool things about being around this long is that we're not afraid to scrap something if we don't absolutely love it," he says.
"It feels really great to have a collection of songs we all love this much, and to know that we worked as hard as we possibly could on them. Hopefully those songs will be helpful to people and give them some kind of peace as they try to deal with the insanity of the world – because that's what music does for me, and doing the same for others is always my greatest dream come true."

The winners of the Music Moves Europe Awards 2025 are revealed, celebrating the extraordinary musical diversity within Europe. Out of 15 nominees from all over Europe, 6 winners were awarded with 7 awards during the annual ceremony at ESNS festival in Groningen, The Netherlands on January 16.

The MME Award winners receive €10.000 each. The winner of the Grand Jury Award receives an additional green touring voucher worth €5.000. The winner of the Public Choice Award is being granted €5.000.
European Union Prize
The Music Moves Europe Awards (MME Awards) is the annual European Union Prize celebrating the emerging artists who represent the European sound of today and tomorrow.

Berg je plannen voor 2025 maar weer op, aldus Steven H in zijn nieuwe single ‘Plannen plannen plannen’
Zit je vol plannen voor het nieuwe jaar? Berg ze dan maar weer op, want je weet dat je toch geen tijd en fut gaat hebben om ze in de praktijk te brengen ... Dat is de boodschap die de Gentse rapper met West-Vlaamse roots Steven H brengt in zijn nieuwste single en videoclip ‘Plannen plannen plannen’.
Veel plannen, weinig tijd …
Net als iedereen zit Steven H vol plannen – niet alleen muzikaal, maar ook op persoonlijk vlak. Ideeën genoeg voor onder meer een driedubbel conceptalbum, een kerstsingle en samenwerkingen met die en die, maar vind maar eens de tijd om dat allemaal te realiseren als je ook nog een ‘gewone’ job en een gezin hebt …
Toch slaagde Steven erin om tussen de bedrijven door toch alvast een nieuwe single en videoclip te maken – zijn vijfde na de compilatie ‘Zijn allergrootste successen’ uit 2023. Zoals we van Steven H gewoon zijn, blijft hij ook nu weer ver van de traditionele hiphopsound, maar mixt hij invloeden uit rock, postpunk en synthpop door het nummer. Het resultaat? Een song die op het eerste gehoor bedrieglijk simpel klinkt, maar met een refrein dat zich na anderhalve luisterbeurt al in je hersenen grift.
De videoclip werd grotendeels opgenomen op een zonnige middag aan de Nieuwe Dokken in Gent. De lunchpauze van cameraman Pieter Heyman volstond om de dronebeelden te schieten. Kwestie van planning zeker?

20 jaar Steven H
In 2005 liet Steven H voor het eerst van zich horen met het demo-album ‘’k Had ui pertank gezeid’ en deed hij zijn eerste optredens als solo-artiest. Dat betekent dat hij dit jaar, drie EP’s en twee albums later, exact 20 jaar actief is. Dit jubileum gaat niet gepaard met een groots opgezet event of een speciale release. Tegendraads als hij is, kregen we die in 2023 al met de compilatie-cd ‘Zijn allergrootste successen’.
Wel is Steven H vastberaden om door te gaan met muziek uitbrengen en optreden. Of ‘Plannen plannen plannen’ en de vier voorgaande losse singles uiteindelijk ook zullen resulteren in een derde full album, is momenteel nog niet duidelijk. Zodra dat plan concreet wordt, zullen jullie het als eerste horen.

Elk nummer vertelt een specifieke ervaring die deel uitmaakt van ons collectieve leven. Ze culmineren in het titelnummer, Rhapsody Of Life, dat als slotnummer op het album de apotheose voorstelt. Alle thema’s van voorgaande nummers worden samengevat in één geheel, losjes geïnspireerd op de monoloog All the world’s a stage van William Shakespeare.

Om de release van Rhapsody Of Life te vieren, geeft Worlds Beyond drie exclusieve concerten in samenwerking met het symfonisch orkest Zanglust uit Tielt. Deze concerten vinden plaats op 28 februari, 1 maart en 2 maart 2025 in CC Gildhof in Tielt. Met deze unieke samenwerking tilt de band hun muziek naar een nieuw niveau, wat resulteert in een groots en meeslepend spektakel.

De eerste single, Unwind My Story, kwam uit op 13 december. Het nummer vertelt over persoonlijke groei en de zoektocht naar eigenheid binnen een diepgaande relatie. Het lied beschrijft hoe gedeelde wegen en invloeden een identiteit kunnen vervagen. De protagonist worstelt met het verlies van richting en verlangt naar hernieuwde autonomie. Het is een emotionele reis naar het hervinden van balans en zelfbewustzijn. Uiteindelijk roept het op tot het loslaten van beperkingen en het herontdekken van innerlijke vrijheid.

House Of Entertainment news - Belle Perez schittert in Maastricht tussen de classic cars
Verrassing alom bij de 650 gasten toen niemand minder dan Belle Perez woensdagavond met haar liveband op het podium verscheen in het MECC Maastricht. Na het dinner, dat verzorgd werd door de Nederlandse sterrenchefs Syrco Bakker en Robin van de Bunt, werden de gasten op de exclusieve preview night getrakteerd op ‘Hello World,’ ‘Que Viva La Vida’, ‘El Mundo Bailando’ en nog een rist Belle Perez-hits. De aanwezigen, vooral exposanten en autoliefhebbers die er de start van de 30ste InterClassic Maastricht kwamen vieren, waren onder de indruk en genoten zichtbaar van het gebeuren. “Fantastisch dat ik tussen deze prachtige wagens mag optreden. Ik ben geen autoverzamelaar, maar kan er wel van genieten om met een mooie wagen te rijden of ernaar te kijken. Als je kijkt voor hoeveel waarde én geschiedenis er hier bij elkaar staat, is dat om te duizelen”, aldus Belle Perez. “Naast de openbare optredens doen we doorheen het jaar ook heel wat bedrijfsfeesten of exclusieve concerten, zoals hier in Maastricht. Het is altijd fijn wanneer je op zo’n warme, hartelijke manier wordt onthaald.”
InterClassics Maastricht loopt van donderdag 16 tot zondag 19 januari in MECC Maastricht en is goed voor 35.000 m2 autoplezier en de Sim Expo voor liefhebbers van simulatorenrraces. Meer info vind je op www.interclassics.event

‘Eagle Of The Sun’ is een filmisch eerbetoon aan de legendarische Ennio Morricone. De nieuwe single van Alex Koo legt de uitgestrekte, ongetemde geest van het wilde westen vast. Begeleid door warme pianoakkoorden die bluesy gitaarriffs nabootsen en verrijkt met echoënd gefluit en expansieve zang, voert deze instrumentale compositie de luisteraar mee naar een zonovergoten woestijnlandschap, waar de tijd lijkt te vertragen en tot stilstand komt.

'Jonass', de vorige single van de nieuwe plaat, is een eerbetoon aan een te vroeg gestorven jeugdvriend van Alex. Het ontroerende nummer, met medewerking van de gerenomeerde trompettist Ambrose Akinmusire, viert de kwetsbaarheid en schoonheid van het leven. Akinmusire's trompet voegt een diep emotionele en fijnbesnaarde toets toe aan de muziek. Met als gevolg: airplay in UK. "Isn't it gorgeous", aldus Tom Ravenscott van BBC Radio 6.

Als zoon van een Belgische missionaris die in de jaren zeventig naar Japan werd gestuurd en een Japanse vredesactiviste, weigert pianist en componist Alex Koo zich in een traditioneel hokje te laten plaatsen. Zoals het gerenommeerde Duitse Jazzthetik het verwoordde: “Alex Koo is oncategoriseerbaar".
Met tien unieke persoonlijke tracks is 'Blame It on My Chromosomes' meer dan een muzikaal statement; het is een vorm van zelftherapie. “De enige manier om tegenwoordig als jazzmuzikant niet in een depressie te belanden, is door jezelf te ventileren en jezelf over te geven aan je muziek”, vertelt Koo. “Muziek moet een diepere betekenis hebben dan zelfpromotie. Voor mij gaat het om het accepteren van wie ik ben en al de rest gewoon los te laten.”
Voor dit album werkte Koo samen met de internationaal gelauwerde toptrompettist Ambrose Akinmusire , die meespeelt op twee tracks. Koo, die reeds werd bejubeld door het gerenommeerde Amerikaanse DownBeat Jazz Magazine als “verbluffend origineel”, staat bekend voor zijn muziek die genres overschrijdt en moeiteloos jazz en hedendaags klassiek mengt met elementen van filmmuziek tot zelfs indie. Als geboren en getogen West-Vlaming begon hij zijn muzikale carrière al van zijn vijfde als klassiek wonderkind. Later, in zijn tienerjaren, ontwikkelde hij een passie voor jazz en improvisatie, waarna hij snel lof oogstte van enkele jazzlegendes zoals Kurt Elling, Kenny Werner en Brad Mehldau. Koo werd zelfs al omschreven als “van hetzelfde zeldzame hoge niveau als Keith Jarrett” (Trouw). Zo werd zijn album uit 2019, 'Appleblueseagreen', met Mark Turner en Ralph Alessi, ook geselecteerd in Downbeat's Best Albums of the Year.
Op 'Blame It on My Chromosomes' speelt Koo samen met zijn long standing trio, wat garant staat voor gedurfd samenspel en muzikaal vuurwerk. Het gezelschap, met Koo op piano, Dré Pallemaerts op drums en Lennart Heyndels op bas, vertegenwoordigt the best of Belgian jazz. Daarbij dan nog eens de emotionele kracht van special guest Ambrose Akinmusire aan gekoppeld voor twee tracks en we krijgen een album van jewelste.
