Labelman news - Rosie Stuart wins Sound Track, second single “Cupid” out now

We’re releasing a new single from one of Belgium’s most promising voices: Rosie Stuart!
Rosie recently became one of the eighteen laureates of Sound Track, a Belgian music competition organized by VI.BE, after winning the finals in December at Ha Concerts in Ghent.
In total, 1300 (!) bands registered for the competition.
What does this win mean? It means that Rosie earned a year of tailored guidance, studio time, a four-day bootcamp alongside the other laureates, national exposure and international showcase opportunities.

“Cupid” is the second and final single from Rosie’s EP “Cupid / Vegan”.

De nieuwe single van de Belgische DJ, producer en muzikant Thomas Hamilton (29) haalt al meer dan 260.000 streams op Spotify. Sinds de start van de promotie in december zijn de radiozenders ten zuiden van de taalgrens vol op de kar gesprongen. 
‘She Wants Me’ staat intussen in de playlists van Tipik, NRJ, Fun Radio, Nostalgie, LN Radio en Sud Radio en vanaf februari gaat ook Radio Contact ermee aan de slag!
Dat resulteert deze week in een prachtige 22e plaats in de Playright Single Chart in Wallonië!

De single maakt deel uit van zijn ‘365 Challenge’: Thomas Hamilton geeft zichzelf 365 dagen de tijd om door te breken in de muziekindustrie met een nieuwe track en een vlog per maand.
Het project, ontstaan uit een verlangen naar onafhankelijkheid en authenticiteit, daagt traditionele industrienormen uit door transparantie en consistentie centraal te stellen. Door elke stap van zijn ontwikkeling te delen, creëert Thomas een directe band met zijn publiek, dat de ontwikkeling van zijn artistieke reis in realtime volgt.

De eerste versie van ‘She Wants Me’ werd in 2023 gecomponeerd. Het nummer bleef vervolgens enkele maanden op Thomas’ computer staan, zonder duidelijke richting. Pas een jaar later, terug in Brussel, pakte hij de demo weer op en slaagde er eindelijk in om een gepolijste versie te maken. Er ontbrak echter nog één essentieel element: de zang.
Na een paar telefoontjes en overleg met zijn netwerk, was het de in Miami gevestigde zanger Shawn Clover die het nummer inzong en ‘She Wants Me’ zijn definitieve sound en vocale identiteit gaf.
Met ‘She Wants Me’ wil Thomas Hamilton zich losmaken van zijn gebruikelijke stijl.
Hij, die vaak zingt over liefde, twijfels en emotionele wonden, verkent een assertiever thema: wederzijds verlangen, de elektrische spanning die ontstaat wanneer twee mensen zich op hetzelfde moment tot elkaar aangetrokken voelen. Zoals hij in zijn storytelling vertelt, heeft Thomas lange tijd het gevoel gehad nooit "de ware" te zijn. Maar op een avond verandert alles: hij ontmoet een meisje, hun blikken kruisen elkaar en onmiddellijk ontstaat er iets. Een energie, een zeldzaam gevoel waarbij verlangens in beide richtingen stromen. Eenmaal thuis zet Thomas deze impulsen om in muziek.
‘She Wants Me’ is geboren uit dit moment van unieke dynamiek: een ritmisch, levendig nummer, gedreven door invloeden uit de jaren 80, dat deze innerlijke puls weerspiegelt.
‘She Wants Me’ vertelt het verhaal van dat precieze moment waarop Thomas, na jaren van twijfel, eindelijk voelt dat zijn verlangen beantwoord wordt. "Elke keer dat ik verliefd word, val ik alleen."
En dit verhaal vindt weerklank: zijn online storytelling heeft inmiddels meer dan een miljoen views en honderden reacties opgeleverd, wat bewijst dat velen zich in deze universele emotie herkennen.

Thomas Hamilton is een Belgische producer, DJ en muzikant, gedreven door een diepe ambitie: een jeugddroom waarmaken. Geboren in Doornik en nu woonachtig in Brussel, ontdekte Thomas muziek op 12-jarige leeftijd en bracht hij uren door met het componeren van melodieën en het experimenteren met geluiden. Maar op 21-jarige leeftijd veranderde zijn leven drastisch na een ernstig auto-ongeluk.
Dit moment, dat alles had kunnen beëindigen, werd juist een katalysator: vanaf dat moment zou muziek niet langer een simpele hobby zijn, maar zijn missie.
In 2025 begon Thomas aan een gedurfde uitdaging: 365 dagen om door te breken in de muziekindustrie, een jaar lang elke maand een nummer uitbrengen en alles documenteren op YouTube. De aankondiging van dit project had direct impact: het ging viraal op TikTok met meer dan 650.000 views en 125.000 likes, en trok de aandacht van een Belgisch publiek en daarbuiten.
De eerste single van de challenge, ‘Mine’ (met Ilias Addi), behaalde in minder dan twee maanden meer dan 500.000 streams, wat de oprechte impact van het project bevestigde. Hij volgde dit op met ‘Without U’ in samenwerking met LAUD, en er staan de komende maanden nog diverse sterke releases gepland – stuk voor stuk met Thomas’ kenmerkende sound: melodisch, emotioneel en uitgesproken dance-georiënteerd.
Tijdens zijn carrière heeft Thomas samengewerkt met en het podium gedeeld met gerenommeerde artiesten, met name Henri PFR, waarmee hij zijn geloofwaardigheid in de Belgische muziekscene heeft versterkt. Op sociale media heeft zijn verhalende content miljoenen views gegenereerd, waardoor hij een authentieke band heeft opgebouwd met een community die maand na maand groeit.
De zomer van 2025 werd een belangrijke mijlpaal: Thomas trad op voor 10.000 mensen op het festival Les Gens d’Ere in Doornik en opende de mainstage van het Dance D-Vision festival in Zottegem.
Een cruciaal moment voor de artiest die slechts enkele jaren eerder nog in zijn eentje in zijn slaapkamer componeerde met een droom die veel groter was dan hijzelf.
Thomas Hamilton heeft zich gevestigd als één van België's meest veelbelovende opkomende dance artiesten. Met oprechtheid, energie en vastberadenheid bewijst hij dat zelfs de meest gewaagde dromen werkelijkheid kunnen worden. Met al meer dan 2 miljoen streams als onafhankelijke artiest en meer dan 50.000 volgers op Instagram en TikTok, loopt zijn "365"-project door tot maart 2026.

Imarhan, the Tuareg desert blues innovators hailing from Algeria, today announce their bold fourth album, Essam, for release on 16 January 2026 via City Slang. The announcement is joined by the hypnotic lead single/video, "Derhan N'Oulhine" ("What The Heart Desires").

Since their formation in 2006, Imarhan - guitarist and vocalist Iyad Moussa Ben Abderahmane (Sadam), bassist Tahar Khaldi, guitarists Hicham Bouhasse and Abdelkader Ourzig, and percussionist Haiballah Akhamouk - have continually reshaped perceptions of Tuareg music. Building on the foundations of assouf (the desert blues sound made globally known by Tinariwen and Mdou Moctar), the group fuse ancient poetry and rhythm with funk, psychedelia, and pan-African groove to create something both timeless and urgently modern.

With Essam - meaning "lightning" in the Tuareg language Tamasheq - the band make their most daring leap yet. Recorded at their Aboogi Studio in the heart of Tamanrasset in southern Algeria and produced by longtime collaborator Maxime Kosinetz with some additional production by Emile Papandreou of French duo UTO, the album introduces electronic textures, expansive production and a newfound intimacy. Local artists and friends joined the sessions, contributing handclaps and vocals, heard on the evocative opening track whose intimate production signals Imarhan's new sound. Women from Tamanrasset also participated, honouring their historic role in Tuareg music - through instruments like imzad and tinde, the latter featured on the album track, "Assagasswar." Their presence is especially meaningful given the growing challenges women face in southern Algeria.

Essam carries the pulse of its surroundings: clapping friends, echoing voices, and a sense of shared space, culminating in a sweeping statement of identity and evolution. "We tried something we'd never done before; we took some risks," says Sadam. "Music allows us the freedom to try new things."

The lead single, "Derhan N'Oulhine", showcases this fearless experimentation, blending desert-rock roots with subtle electronic textures and folk motifs, anchored by a blues-inflected guitar that occasionally bursts into resonant riffs. Its accompanying video, directed by Elsa Pennachio on 8mm Bolex, mirrors the album's creation: traditional techniques and analogue processing produce a hybrid, timeless aesthetic. Film overprints, modular synth effects, and live recordings reflect both the beauty and tension of Tuareg life, caught between heritage and global modernity.

Elsewhere on Essam, Imarhan explore displacement, belonging and resilience, shaped by recent upheavals across the Sahara, from pandemic years to political instability along the Algerian-Mali border. "The refugees, the suffering, the hope - we feel all of it" says Sadam. "But life is beautiful, even in its darker moments." Their connection to togetherness and community remains central: Aboogi Studio doubles as a cultural and creative hub, nurturing young artists and preserving Tuareg traditions. "Aboogi is like a music school. We've tried to come up with ideas to help people who don't have the means to travel, to help them record some music."

Imarhan's collaboration with Damon Albarn on a stripped-back version of "Derhan N'Oulhine" for Africa Express Presents… Bahidorá (2025) hints at their growing global reach - and underscores their boundaryless approach to sound.

Ultimately, Essam is both an evolution and a homecoming. It's the sound of Tuareg music unbound, rooted in the desert, yet alive in the world.
