Op 29 januari 2027 brengt Olivia Trappeniers als OLIVIA haar nieuwe Nederlandstalige EP Prijs Van De Liefde uit. Op woensdag 10 maart 2027 staat ze met haar nieuwe muziek en liveband o.a. in Charlatan in Gent.

Het grote publiek leerde Olivia kennen via The Voice van Vlaanderen. Sindsdien verzamelde ze meer dan 75 miljoen streams, behaalde ze drie platina platen en werd ze de jongste artieste ooit met een nummer één in de Belgische hitparade, met Kom Wat Dichterbij. Daarna volgden onder meer de zomerhit Elektriciteit en recenter Wat Blijft Er Nog Over, twee nummers die ook op de Belgische en Nederlandse radio veel airplay kregen.
Voor Prijs Van De Liefde put OLIVIA uit haar eigen ervaringen met liefde, verlies en heartbreak, maar de EP is geen sombere terugblik.
"Voor mij gaat Prijs Van De Liefde niet over wat liefde me heeft afgenomen, maar over wat ze me heeft gegeven: verhalen, inzichten en vooral muziek", vertelt OLIVIA. "Nummers die ik nu eindelijk met mijn liveband kan delen."
Dat OLIVIA ook onderwerpen buiten de liefde niet uit de weg gaat, blijkt uit Wanneer Is Het Genoeg? schrijft ze over het onveiligheidsgevoel dat veel vrouwen op straat kennen en over hoe vanzelfsprekend het is geworden om je gedrag daaraan aan te passen. Een andere route nemen, je locatie delen of laten weten dat je veilig bent aangekomen: precies die reflex stelt ze met het nummer in vraag.
Wanneer Is Het Genoeg? is gekozen als campagnelied voor Her Walk van Plan International op vrijdag 9 oktober 2026 in Gent, een avondwandeling rond de veiligheid van jonge vrouwen en de strijd tegen straatintimidatie.
Op 10 maart 2027 staat OLIVIA met haar liveband in Charlatan, met Prijs Van De Liefde als vertrekpunt voor haar nieuwe liveshow. Naast Gent staan in het voorjaar ook shows gepland in Kavka in Antwerpen (18 februari), TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht (20 februari) en De Bilding in Bilzen (12 maart).
Haar EP Prijs Van De Liefde verschijnt op 29 januari 2027.

Asthmatic Kitty Records announces Worst Christmas Ever!, a single-album compiling Sufjan Stevens' expansive holiday catalog, out November 6th. Worst Christmas Ever! features 15 essentials of Sufjan’s indie-Christmas staples, drawn from more than 100 Christmas recordings across the box sets Songs for Christmas and Silver & Gold, plus the previously unheard track “On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better).”
Sufjan first started making Christmas music in 2001. At the time he didn’t plan for those early songs to start a snowball that would lead to nearly five hours of Christmas songs that now makes up his holiday catalogue. The intention was simple - make a few Christmas gifts for friends and family. And the process was the same each time: one week in December, usually at home, he’d pull in whoever was around, usually friends, roommates, or musical peers. In 2006, Asthmatic Kitty collected the first five volumes as Songs for Christmas, Vols. 1-5 and in 2012 the label released Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10, compiling five more EPs recorded between 2006 and 2010.
Worst Christmas Ever! pulls from across both. The perennial fan favorites are all here: "Sister Winter," "Put The Lights On The Tree," "Only At Christmas Time," and the title track, "That Was The Worst Christmas Ever!." As is "Justice Delivers Its Gift," Sufjan's ecclesiastical take on the Burl Ives classic, "Silver & Gold," "Christmas In The Room," “Silent Night” and more.
The volumes these songs come from were made with a long running cast of collaborators, including Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, Cat Martino, Gabriel Kahane, Casey Foubert, James McAlister, Rosie Thomas, Marla Hansen, Olivier Manchon, Sebastian Krueger, and Daniel, Elin, Lilly, and Ida Smith of Danielson.
Speaking to Vulture about his holiday catalog in 2022, Sufjan put it plainly: "There are no rules and regulations when it comes to Christmas culture." His unguarded enthusiasm for the genre itself, the freedom he takes in celebrating with both reverence and rebellion, and his belief that Christmas music holds a multiplicity of sacred and secular significance that is ultimately ours for the taking make his Christmas catalog a standout.

Victoryland, the project of songwriter Julian McCamman in partnership with producer Dan Howard, have signed to Dead Oceans and today announce a deluxe version of My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It, out on December 11.
Now also sees the release of brand new single “The Ugliest Girl On The Beach,” also featured on the deluxe. In true Victoryland style, the song pairs dark, self-lacerating lyrics with bright, shimmery guitar pop and arrives alongside a music video made by the band.
Julian says, “Sinking into the hot sand and watching the two blue lovers trying to kiss, forever caught in their parallel hell, I refused the barrier between me and nature. I’m still there, still trying for the answer: who am I when I’m alone?”
Recorded between Julian’s Bed-Stuy basement and Dan’s Williamsburg studio, My Heart is the sound of a bright and beaming collaboration, blending the glossiness of a radio-friendly hit with the distortion and rough edges of a home demo. Every song keeps at least one element of the initial recording, building around the loops and half-songs Julian scraped together. The record wrangles with heavy subject matter – love, disconnection, sexual frustration, emptiness – but its final statement is about the cleansing nature of pop music: if a song can force you to bliss out over a hook or a loop, or even make you dance, it can be the spoonful of sugar to swallow the hard pill with.
Victoryland originated in Philly in 2023, with their first tape, Sprain, arriving in 2024, which echoed more of what the Philly scene was dishing out: lo-fi, tape-recorded rock with a capital R. It was the collaborative efforts of producer Dan Howard that brought the new vision and sound into full focus. Dan and Julian had previously worked together on Loving You Backwards by Julian’s Texas-to-Philly-based band Blood - that experience pushed Julian toward a more personal process of recording, starting with home demos and then bringing them to Dan to shape into songs together. This relationship ultimately led Julian to move to New York, and the recording of My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It.
Much to their surprise, My Heart’s release ushered Victoryland into a whirlwind of a year. Pitchfork praised the album’s “bright, madcap approach reminiscent of the New Pornographers’ Twin Cinema or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s Some Loud Thunder.” Stereogum named it their Album of the Week and proclaimed it “a surprisingly cohesive scrapbook of sounds from seemingly every corner of the indie pop umbrella.” After a string of sold-out shows in NYC, Victoryland later joined LCD Soundsystem on their North American tour and will be performing at Pitchfork London, Pitchfork Paris and other festivals across Europe.

Aghogho betekent ‘kind van God’ in het Nigeriaans en is de artiestennaam van de 23-jarige Caro Abutoh.
Eerste single I Want You To Feel It werd afgelopen zomer heel warm onthaald in eigen land en vindt ook in Frankrijk mooi zijn weg bij toonaangevende radio’s als FIP, France Inter en Radio France Internationale (RFI). Kers op de taart: een plek op de playlist van KEXP in Seattle.
Nieuwe single ‘I Wasn’t Made For You’, een vederzacht neo-soul-dekentje, is geïnspireerd door All About Love van de baanbrekende Amerikaanse schrijfster en feministische denker bell hooks.
Caro: “All About Love raakte me heel diep, vooral hoe een gebrek aan liefde vroeg in je leven later bepaalt hoe je liefde geeft en ontvangt. Mijn song gaat over iemand wegduwen van wie je houdt, omdat je niet gelooft dat je die liefde verdient. Maar uiteindelijk is het een lied over hoop: dat je ondanks alles oké zult zijn.”
Na een prachtige zomer met passages op o.a. Boomtown, Theater Aan Zee en Maanrock, verschijnt op 20 november Aghogho’s nieuwe EP ‘Bold In Mystery’. Caro tekende zelf voor de productie, met Willem Ardui als klankbord. Yunas De Proost van Meltheads verzorgde de mix.
Releaseshows komen er op Fifty Lab (pre-release en openingsshow van het festival in de AB Club), in Trefpunt (Gent) en Trix in haar thuisstad Antwerpen. In die periode worden ook de eerste internationale stappen gezet op showcasefestivals als Nürnberg Pop (Duitsland) en Viva Sounds in het Zweedse Göteborg, festivals waar eerder verschillende Mayway-artiesten hun buitenlandse avontuur op gang trapten.

On decembers, we travel with SOAK on the road through America, walk the frost-glistened paths of Dublin at night, search for a meteor in Portugal, and return home to Derry, Ireland. Everywhere, here is an artist evolving, exploring, releasing themselves, coming undone, and eventually, becoming. Born out of literal silence as Monds-Watson contended with an autoimmune disease that prevented them from singing, it was the absence of sound that birthed the Derry artist’s most sonically and lyrically remarkable album to date.
“When I try to describe the album,” Monds-Watson explains, “I always go back to a quote from Thomas Wolfe's novel You Can’t Go Home Again where he says ‘You can't go back home to your family, back home to your childhood, back home to romantic love... back home to the old forms and systems of things which once seemed everlasting but which are changing all the time—back home to the escapes of Time and Memory.’ I think for a long time I wanted to disprove that concept, I don’t know why I was so determined - maybe the familiarity of before felt safe. In the end I realised that was no way to live and had to learn how to lean into the rest of my life. In a way, I think decembers is about forgiveness.”
decembers follows stand-alone single ‘death valley fridge magnet’ and SOAK’s 2024 viral collaboration with Fred Again.. on the track ‘just stand there’ which has been played over 25 million times. Meg Lui announced her debut album Instant Validation, produced by Sufjan Stevens, will be released on September 25, 2026, via Asthmatic Kitty Records. She has also shared lead single “Elvis Queen,” a rapturous, sprawling reflection on the passing of her beloved aunt. “This song is about my aunt who was a huge Elvis fan,” Lui explains of the track, out now alongside a Joe Raffanti-directed video. “At first it was a very slow, sentimental song, but we sped it up for the final version—she was a very joyful person, so it made sense for it to feel a little bit like a party.” “Elvis Queen” also features Stevens as well as Liam Kazar on backing vocals, and follows “Gone Girl” and “Dreams” (The Cranberries cover)—album tracks released as singles earlier this year that drew attention from outlets like Stereogum and Brooklyn Vegan. Instant Validation includes additional contributions from her Hudson Valley, NY, musical community, including: Hannah Cohen (backing vocals); David Lizmi (bass); Sam Evian (alto sax); Chris Holdridge (drums); Keenan O’Meara (production, guitar, and vocals); and Olivier Manchon (violin and viola). Stevens engineered and also played nearly all the other instruments on the album, which they recorded in his studio.
On Instant Validation, Northern California-born Lui shares an up-close glimpse into the magnificently curious wonderland of her mind, offering up a batch of songs both rooted in raw emotion and inhabited by a fantastically surreal cast of characters:anthropomorphic flowers, sea monsters, Elvis Presley, the ill-fated lovers of ancient Greek myths. The album marries her intimate songwriting with an extravagantly detailed sound anchored in her warm yet commanding voice—an instrument she’s wielded to glorious effect in singing background vocals on acclaimed releases like Stevens’ Javelin and John Legend’s My Favorite Dream. As Lui’s first full-length project after years of musical soul-searching, Instant Validation ultimately presents a beautifully lived-in look at building a meaningful life amid the chaos of the modern era.
Lui set to work on the album in fall 2024, embracing a deliberately playful approach and carving out time for the album while holding down three jobs. After connecting with Stevens through mutual friends in the Catskills—a tight-knit community of singer/songwriters that also includes her longtime partner Keenan O’Meara—the two musicians began expanding on demos Lui had gathered over the past ten years, deliberately creating without any boundaries. The resulting body of work centers on a sonic aesthetic suited to the immense depth of her imagination. “In the past I’ve tried to fit into some sort of Americana or indie mold, and it always felt a little flat to me,” says Lui, who attended Berklee College of Music and later launched her music career in Brooklyn. “With Sufjan there was so much more out-of-the-box thinking, and we ended up adding layers upon layers that created an unrestrained soundscape for the record.”
Born from her diary-like yet poetic approach to lyrical storytelling, Instant Validation often examines the endless whirlwind of navigating life in your mid-30s: the infinite complexities of love and familial bonds, the suffocating grip of our collective addiction to technology, the prolonged state of arrested development endemic to so many millennials. In an unexpected twist, the album’s theme of pushing past inertia took on a new significance when Lui became pregnant in the final stages of the LP’s production. “I think my songs tend to sound like I’m giving advice, but most of the time I’m actually talking to myself and trying to work through my problems,” she says. “A lot of these songs came from feeling like I’m perpetually stuck and wasn’t growing as a person, and when I listened back I realized so many of the lyrics are about finding the courage to go ahead and live my life and not wait for this industry, which has been hard to find a footing in. To not wait on permission to make art - or try to make it fit into a perfect package and let it live and breathe as it is.”
As she begins an unprecedented new chapter in her life and career, Lui carries forward a quiet confidence undeniably shaped by the making of Instant Validation. “One of the biggest takeaways from creating this record was that ‘Making things feels good, so go ahead and make what you want and don’t take yourself too seriously,’” she says. “It’s so easy these days to get stuck on our phones and get distracted from what really matters, partly because of feeling overwhelmed by all the desperation and anger and fear that's out there in the world. But I hope this album might inspire people to get unstuck, and bring them back to the things that make them feel the most human and most connected to the people and life happening around them.”

Nieuwe concertzaal Kursaal Oostende opent deuren in januari 2027 en lanceert nu al vernieuwde website.De werken aan de concertzaal van Kursaal Oostende verlopen volgens plan en timing. De heropening van de vernieuwde concertzaal is voorzien in januari 2027. In aanloop daarnaartoe lanceert Kursaal Oostende vandaag een volledig nieuwe branding en nieuwe website en geeft meteen enkele kleppers prijs die in de nieuwe concertzaal te zien zullen zijn in 2027. Die zullen de komende weken allemaal te ontdekken vallen op de nieuwe website.
De concertzaal van Kursaal Oostende wordt momenteel grondig vernieuwd en klaar-gestoomd voor een nieuw hoofdstuk. De werken verlopen volgens planning en worden afgerond in oktober 2026. Daarna volgt een intensieve test- en inregelperiode, met als hoogtepunt de heropening in januari 2027.
Met de renovatie komt ook een duidelijke nieuwe visie. Onder de slogan “The power of live” zet Kursaal Oostende opnieuw volop in op de essentie van live beleving. Samen een moment delen, emoties voelen en volledig opgaan in het hier en nu. Die visie vertaalt zich in een vernieuwd publieksconcept, een flexibele zaalopstelling én een frisse nieuwe branding.
Intussen is ook de nieuwe website live. Daar ontdek je de eerste artiesten en producties die in 2027 in de vernieuwde concertzaal te zien zullen zijn. De komende maanden wordt het programma stap voor stap verder aangevuld, met regelmatig nieuwe aankondigingen.

In augustus wordt de Brugse binnenstad opnieuw omgetoverd tot één grote dansvloer tijdens de editie van Benenwerk 'Ballroom Brugeoise'. Op verschillende podia kan het publiek een hele avond proeven van een uitgebreid aanbod aan dansstijlen en dat volledig gratis. Het evenement is door de jaren heen dan ook uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde.

Voortbouwend op het succes van hun derde album GRANDBLUE – geprezen door de Franstalige pers en veelvuldig gedraaid op Belgische radio’s zoals Tipik, Jam en La Première – keert Sunday Charmers terug met ‘Heaven’, een krachtige nieuwe single met de bitterzoete smaak van een verloren paradijs.
Het nummer vliegt er meteen in: een zelfverzekerde groove, een aanstekelijke melodie en een refrein dat klinkt als een stadion anthem. Ergens tussen de attitude van de Britpop uit de jaren 90 en een uitgesproken hedendaagse poprockproductie in, laat ‘Heaven’ een band horen die directer, elektrischer en zelfverzekerder klinkt dan ooit.
Achter de euforie schuilt een scherp randje
‘Heaven’ hekelt de absurditeit van onze niet-aflatende jacht op succes – de constante drang naar meer, zelfs terwijl alles om ons heen lijkt in te storten.
“This is it / This is all you ever wanted / This is the shit”: het refrein groeit uit tot een bijna grotesk triomfantelijke mantra. We blijven onszelf wijsmaken dat we het gemaakt hebben, dat alles in orde is, dat het paradijs eindelijk is aangebroken. Maar ondertussen staat de wereld in brand.
Die spanning vormt de kern van ‘Heaven’: een opzwepend nummer met de allure van een volkslied, maar met een veel donkerdere ondertoon van ironie.
Na een uitverkocht concert in de Botanique, hun eerste optredens in Frankrijk en opvallende passages op Les Francofolies en Dour Festival, blijft de band aan momentum winnen.

In het najaar van 2026 pakt de band steviger uit. Snijdende gitaren, rauwe spanning en nummers die je vanaf de eerste seconden bij de keel grijpen.
Een intense energie, gemaakt voor het podium, waar de urgentie van de jaren 90-rock samensmelt met percussie en ritmes met een eiland-vibe.
Balancerend tussen filmische sferen en krachtige uitbarstingen, gaan Sunday Charmers een gedurfde nieuwe fase in. De nieuwe nummers getuigen van een duidelijke evolutie: ongefilterde songs, gedreven door een hang naar risico en de drang om grenzen te verleggen.

Gilbert O’Sullivan, Kursaal, Oostende op 15 september 2027
Gilbert O’Sullivan keert op woensdag 15 september 2027 na een afwezigheid van 8 jaar terug naar België voor een exclusief concert in Kursaal Oostende.
De legendarische singer-songwriter, bekend van zijn hits ‘Alone Again’, 'Clair’ en ‘Nothing Rhymed’, brengt binnenkort een nieuw album uit. Met zijn solovoorstelling ‘Just Gilbert’ zal hij in Oostende zowel oude en nieuwe hits brengen in een intieme setting.
De Ierse Engelsman uit Waterford wist vooral in de jaren 70 hit na hit te scoren en produceerde inmiddels maar liefst 21 albums.
Zijn muziek staat bekend om zijn melancholische observaties van de menselijke conditie. Zijn werk verkent thema's als eenzaamheid, melancholie, de dood, en existentiële twijfels—vaak gehuld in ogenschijnlijk vrolijke pianomelodieën.
Aan het begin van zijn carrière kreeg hij bekendheid vanwege zijn uiterlijk van een straatjongen uit de jaren twintig met bloempotkapsel, streepjesdas, korte broek en pet.
Ook op zijn laatste albums horen we de echte Pianoman nog steeds achter zijn toetsen de sterren van de hemel zingen. Het laatste album bereikte de top 20 in de UK en kreeg wereldwijd lovende kritieken, maar de grote hits uit de jaren 70 blijven een absoluut hoogtepunt van tijdloos allure.

Hij was de superster die in de jaren 70 de hitlijsten in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en de Verenigde Staten aanvoerde met liedjes vol innemende melodieën, onverbloemde sentimenten en existentiële overpeinzingen. Ook vandaag de dag wordt de Ierse singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan nog steeds met grote genegenheid ontvangen en zijn liedjes zijn wereldwijd geliefd.
Gilbert O'Sullivan werd in 1946 in Ierland geboren als Raymond Edward O'Sullivan. Op zevenjarige leeftijd verhuisde hij met zijn familie naar Swindon, Engeland. Na een formele opleiding ging hij studeren aan het Swindon Art College, waar hij zich specialiseerde in grafisch ontwerp.
Maar hij had nog een andere passie: muziek. Nadat hij als drummer/zanger in lokale bands had gespeeld, begon hij zijn eigen liedjes te schrijven, sterk beïnvloed door The Beatles als songwriters en Bob Dylan als artiest. Onder de naam Gilbert, met een zeer kenmerkend imago, bracht hij twee singles uit bij CBS Records en één bij Major Minor, maar deze kregen weinig aandacht. Onverschrokken stuurde hij een demotape naar Gordon Mills, de man achter Tom Jones, en Engelbert Humperdinck, die onder de indruk was van zijn songwriting, werd zijn manager. Het resultaat was zijn eerste single op het MAM-label, Nothing Rhymed, die in 1970 een giganische nummer één hit werd en een top 10-hit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Dit was zijn doorbraak en misschien wel zijn meest filosofische nummer. Het contrast tussen hongersnood in de wereld en de dagelijkse, banale beslommeringen van het individu wordt hierin pijnlijk blootgelegd. Het nummer onderzoekt de zinloosheid of absurditeit van het leven te midden van groter wereldleed.
Er volgden meer hitsingles en een debuutalbum, getiteld Himself.
Maar het was Alone Again (Naturally) uit 1972 dat zijn roem bezegelde. Het nummer stond zes weken bovenaan de Amerikaanse hitlijsten en leverde hem drie Grammy-nominaties op. Dit is O' Sullivans grootste en meest schrijnende hit. Het behandelt existentiële thema's als verlies, zelfmoordgedachten, en de eenzaamheid die gepaard gaat met het verliezen van dierbaren. Het combineert zware existentiële vragen met een bijna theatraal luchtige melodie.
Kees van Kooten en Wim de Bie schreven de Nederlandse vertaling 1948 en het lied wordt door Gerard Cox de hitparade ingezongen. Dat liedje wordt ook jarenlang gebruikt als herkenningsmelodie van de populaire Nederlandse tv-serie Toen Was Geluk Heel Gewoon.
Kort daarna scoorde hij zijn eerste drie Britse nummer 1-hits met Clair, een liedje dat hij schrijft voor het dochtertje van zijn manager Gordon Mills bij wie hij regelmatig oppast en Get Down en LPBack to Front.
Gilbert werd uitgeroepen tot "Songwriter van het Jaar" tijdens de 18e Ivor Novello Awards, begon aan een tournee door 18 steden in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en een tournee door de VS, gaf uitverkochte concerten, scoorde opnieuw een Top 10-hit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk met Why Oh Why Oh Why en won in 1974 zijn derde Ivor Novello Award.
Een paar jaar later ging Gilbert, vanwege muzikale meningsverschillen met zijn manager zijn eigen weg. Na een nieuwe samenwerking ging hij voor zijn volgende album aan de slag met Gus Dudgon (Elton John, Chris Rea) als producer. Het door critici geprezen Off Centre, uitgebracht door CBS in 1990, leverde de internationale hit What's In A Kiss op.
Een rechtszaak met zijn voormalige manager en platenmaatschappij verhinderde hem jarenlang om nieuw materiaal uit te brengen. Zelfs in die periode bleef hij echter schrijven. Dat is voor hem de sleutel tot alles wat hij als artiest doet. Zoals Gilbert zelf zegt: 'Zonder de liedjes is er geen artiest.'
In 1990 verscheen het album In the Key of G, met daarop de bescheiden hit So What. Tijdens de opnames van zijn tweede album in de jaren 90, Sounds of the Loop, met daarop het inmiddels klassieke duet met Peggy Lee, Can't Think Straight, raakte hij betrokken bij een nieuwe rechtszaak, ditmaal tegen rapper Biz Markie voor het zonder toestemming samplen van Alone Again (Naturally). Gilberts overwinning zette een nieuwe standaard voor bescherming tegen auteursrechtinbreuk.
In de jaren 2000 beleefde Gilbert een heropleving van zijn carrière met The Berry Vest of Gilbert O’Sullivan, waarmee hij in 2004 terugkeerde in de Britse Top 20. Gilbertville (2011) was een succes in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Japan, waar hij in 1994 een nummer 1-hit scoorde met Tomorrow, Today. Ook gaf hij goed ontvangen optredens op het Glastonbury Festival in 2008 en in de Royal Albert Hall in Londen in 2009.
In 2012 kwam zijn compilatiealbum Gilbert O’Sullivan: The Very Best Of – A Singer & His Songs (2012) binnen op nummer 12 in de Britse albumlijst. Vervolgens werd ‘Ooh Wakka Doo’ de themasong voor reclames van de National Lottery in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Er worden nog steeds coverversies van zijn nummers uitgebracht, met name ‘Alone Again, (Naturally)’, waarvan de meest recente een cover is van Neil Diamond en Diana Krall met Michael Bublé.
Gilbert O’Sullivan is nog steeds even creatief als altijd gedurende zijn indrukwekkende carrière, en de afgelopen jaren heeft hij vele facetten van zijn muzikale persoonlijkheid laten zien. Of het nu gaat om liveoptredens met zijn band, volledige orkestuitvoeringen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Ierland, of het verkennen van Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek op het album Latin Ala G! uit 2015, de iconische singer-songwriter is altijd vooruit blijven kijken, terwijl zijn beroemde oeuvre hem, zoals altijd, het respect en de bewondering van collega-muzikanten en publiek over de hele wereld heeft opgeleverd.
Zijn recente albums, ‘Gilbert O’Sullivan’ uit 2018, geproduceerd door Ethan Johns, en ‘Driven’ uit dit jaar, geproduceerd door Andy Wright (beide bekroond met 4 sterren in MOJO magazine), bereikten respectievelijk de top 30 en top 20 van de hitlijsten en hebben geleid tot een terechte herwaardering van dit in Ierland geboren, uitzonderlijke Britse talent.

ESNS 2027 - een rits artiesten
ESNS KONDIGT 42 ARTIESTEN UIT 31 EUROPESE LANDEN AAN VOOR EUROSONIC
ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag), Europa’s toonaangevende showcasefestival en muziekconferentie, maakt de eerste 42 Europese artiesten bekend voor Eurosonic, het festival dat van 13 tot en met 15 januari 2027 plaatsvindt in Groningen. De selectie volgt op een recordaantal aanmeldingen voor ESNS. Bijna 6.000 artiesten meldden zich aan voordat de inschrijving op 1 september sloot. Voor de eerste aankondiging selecteerden 28 radiostations, die zijn aangesloten bij de European Broadcasting Union (EBU), 31 Europese acts. De artiesten vertegenwoordigen samen 31 Europese landen, waarmee de unieke diversiteit en internationale reikwijdte van ESNS opnieuw worden onderstreept.
De volgende generatie Europees muziektalent
De eerste ESNS-selectie brengt 42 artiesten uit heel Europa samen, met een breed scala aan genres, talen en muziekstijlen. Van opkomend talent tot artiesten die in eigen land al furore maken: deze eerste lichting brengt enkele van de meest veelbelovende nieuwe artiesten uit Europa naar Groningen.

Woensdag in de stad
Op woensdag trekt ESNS de binnenstad van Groningen in, waar verschillende iconische en unieke locaties onderdeel worden van het festival. In De Oosterpoort vindt die dag een volledig nieuw programma exclusief voor delegates en gericht op muziekprofessionals plaats. Tegelijkertijd keert Eurosonic terug naar de binnenstad van Groningen, waar ESNS samen met verschillende mediapartners de beste opkomende acts uit Europa presenteert aan muziekliefhebbers en professionals. ESNS MAAKT EERSTE NAMEN VOOR NOORDERSLAG 2027 BEKEND
ESNS maakt de eerste elf artiesten voor Noorderslag 2027 bekend. Op zaterdag 16 januari staat in De Oosterpoort in Groningen een mix van nieuw talent en gevestigde namen op het podium. Onder de eerste bevestigingen bevinden zich onder meer Elmer, Milolaathetlukken, Mula. RADIO Z en Hondenfokker. Noorderslag vormt traditiegetrouw de afsluitende festivaldag van ESNS en biedt een podium aan de nieuwste generatie Nederlandse artiesten.
Naast Elmer, Milolaathetlukken, Mula, Hondenfokker en Langa, staan ook Otto Club, MAHA, RADIO Z, Eskalatie, FEMI en Ontaard staan op het programma van Noorderslag.
Noorderslag als podium voor de Nederlandse popmuziek
De zaterdag van ESNS staat traditiegetrouw volledig in het teken van Noorderslag. De slotdag in De Oosterpoort is al decennialang een belangrijk moment voor de Nederlandse popmuziek, waar nieuwe acts zich voor het eerst aan een groot publiek kunnen presenteren en de Popprijs wordt uitgereikt. 3FM maakt live radio vanaf Noorderslag.

Over ESNS
Elk jaar in januari verandert Groningen in het kloppende hart van de Europese muziekindustrie, wanneer ESNS haar showcasefestival en muziekconferentie organiseert. Van woensdag tot en met vrijdag zijn tijdens Eurosonic opkomende acts uit Europa op podia in de binnenstad te zien. De zaterdag staat in het teken Noorderslag, al sinds 1986 de graadmeter voor de Nederlandse popmuziek. Alleen de meest veelbelovende Europese en Nederlandse artiesten krijgen hier de kans zich te presenteren aan muziekliefhebbers en professionals.
Het hele jaar door ondersteunt ESNS talent via initiatieven zoals de European Talent Exchange en reikt het belangrijke prijzen uit, waaronder de Music Moves Europe Awards, de European Festival Awards en de Popprijs. Daarnaast werkt ESNS samen met belangrijke organisaties als Yourope, EBU en Green Deal Circular Festivals om een diverse en duurzame muziekscene te bevorderen.
Sinds 1986 heeft ESNS bijgedragen aan de doorbraak van artiesten als AURORA, Stromae, Christine and the Queens, Fontaines D.C., Sigrid, Altin Gün, The Haunted Youth, The XX, Robyn, Tramhaus, Sam Smith, Hozier, Zaho de Sagazan, Fat Dog, Judeline, Luvcat, Boko Yout, Antony Szmierek, Kingfishr, Sylvie Kreusch en Arp Frique & The Perpetual Singers.
