Even voorstellen - Sunday Kids release third album’Traveler’– out September 27, 2025
After years of playing, writing, recording, rewriting, and re-recording, this legendary
Amsterdam band is finally presenting their long-awaited third album: Traveler. But it’s worth
the wait because, according to them, this record comes the closest to who they truly are.
Since their meeting in an obscure basement bar in Hamburg in 2013, they’ve played as
much as possible to convince audiences of their contemporary take on "rootsy garage rock
'n roll." Their first full-length album, titled Twang Wolf Sessions (2013, Undertow
Recordings), came out of this, named after the famed studio of their musical friend and
producer Hans Hannemann, where the record was recorded.
Their second album, Sweet One (2015, Suburban Records), followed and became a
smarter, more mature, and more diverse record, with a sound that at times feels
psychedelic, while at other moments takes a turn towards garage or surf.
Since then, they've achieved a lot: a successful tour in England, their music featured in
commercials for Ajax and Grolsch, performances in iconic venues like Paradiso and
Melkweg, opening for greats like Beth Hart (HMH), a coveted minute on De Wereld Draait
Door, and countless shows.
Creating a new album became a quest, but ultimately, there was only one place where they
wanted to record this new album—at Hans Hannemann's studio Twang Wolf. Together with
their new drummer (Klaas Harm Dijkstra), they set out to create an album that musically
captures the essence of the band. Once again inspired by American artists like Velvet
Underground and Iggy Pop, they also drew more from the music of their own youth in the
’90s. The influences of bands like dEUS, Soulwax, and The Pixies are clearly audible.
The band presents an analog-produced album full of instantly recognizable hooks. Traveler tells stories about being on the road, searching, losing, and coming home — all captured in a raw, warm production.
“We made Traveler without compromises, purely the way we feel it. The result is a rock record that sounds relevant today, but could just as well have been released twenty years ago.” – Sunday Kids
