Move your feet and celebrate! Met Dancefloor, een – jawel – dansbare nieuwe single, zet Captain Kaiser de laatste rechte lijn in naar de release van hun nieuwe plaat Belgian Boy en de release-show in de AB.
Dancefloor brengt je naar een feestje waar elke gast zijn eigen verhaal heeft. Lucy lijkt te stralen, maar leeft onder het juk van de fles. Liam strooit aan de toog met grappen, maar eindigt de avond alleen en in tranen. Frontman Sascha Vansant bezingt de losers, gestranden en pechvogels met het mededogen – op zijn dansvloer zijn ze allemaal welkom.
Na de recht-door-zeese punk van Roadkill en Moldy en de postrock van Playground (met Joost Zweegers) laat Dancefloor weer een andere kant van de band zien. Een positieve track deze keer, die drijft op een riff die fans van The Cure en DIIV blij zal maken en het licht binnenlaat in de plaat. De videoclip van huisregisseur Vincent Van Hoorick, die de joviale en soms toch ook wat ongemakkelijke sfeer heeft van een oer- Vlaamse trouwfeest, maakt het dansfeest compleet.

The amazing Thundercat returns with his first original music in two years, "I Wish I Didn't Waste Your Time" and "Children of the Baked Potato" (feat. Remi Wolf), out now via Brainfeeder. The tracks arrive just a month before he kicks off a tour of North America.
Thundercat fans can rejoice that they're getting not one but two offerings from the big bad bassist, both of which feature input from the legendary Greg Kurstin. "I Wish I Didn't Waste Your Time," with its relaxed bassline and Thunder's soft falsetto, taps into the classic Thundercat sound. The riffs, nimble and familiar, are easy to slip into, a welcome return to form from a master at his craft.
Meanwhile, "Children of the Baked Potato" invokes a more urgent energy, one where Thunder is matched by Remi Wolf's commanding wails. The song's title refers to the legendary hole-in-the-wall jazz club in LA, (which, you guessed it, exclusively serves baked potatoes), and which, for over 50 years, has showcased the best in LA's jazz scene, fusion greats and studio icons. It is the place to see your favorite musician's favorite musicians and was a massive influence on Thundercat.
"She's [Remi] a child of the Baked Potato like me," Thundercat says. "She knew exactly what the song needed. And it was wild to watch her make it happen. The more I listen to the song, it's clear there was no one better I could have picked."
"Children of the Baked Potato" premiered earlier today as part of a takeover of Shibuya TV's massive outdoor screen in Tokyo's bustling central district plus 42 outdoor screens in Miyashita Park, one of Tokyo's buzziest urban hangouts with fans invited to experience it IRL. Thundercat and Remi Wolf also joined Zane Lowe for an interview on Apple Music's New Music Daily show.

Although it's been more than five years since his last full length, It Is What It Is, Thundercat keeps himself busy. Collaborations with Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Silk Sonic, Katraynada, and Justice maintained his presence in the music realm, while the bassist has also branched out into acting with roles in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. Continuing his foray into the realm of television, the bassist joined Yo Gabba Gabba for a special performance at NPR's Tiny Desk and appeared as a featured musical guest on the rebooted Yo Gabba Gabbaland Apple TV+. This past April, he appeared at the show's Coachella set for both weekends. He's stuck in your head, he's playing in Gap ads, he's onstage with Steve Lacy and Red Hot Chili Peppers — Thundercat's warm, playful presence is never too far away, and life's all the more enlivened by it.

De Belgische singer-songwriter Iskander Moon brengt zijn nieuwe single Ghosts uit en kondigt zijn debuutalbum aan dat in 2026 zal verschijnen via [PIAS] Recordings. De single en het album zijn door hem zelf geschreven, opgenomen en geproduceerd en de mix werd verzorgd door Jasper Maekelberg (Balthazar, Warhaus, Sylvie Kreusch). Beluister Ghosts hier.
Iskander Moon (24) bewandelt een uniek pad tussen klassieke finesse en hedendaagse pop. Geboren als Iskander Moens groeide hij op in het Oost-Vlaamse Zelzate, waar hij al vroeg werd ondergedompeld in muziek. Na getourd te hebben met koorensemble Collegium Vocale en een klassieke piano studie, was Iskander op zoek naar meer muzikale vrijheid: "In de klassieke muziek moet je de partituur volgen, in pop kan je alles loslaten," vertelt hij. Uiteindelijk vond hij in zijn soloproject de ruimte voor subtielere, persoonlijkere muziek. Iskander trok regelmatig naar steden als Berlijn, Gotenburg, New York en Florence om te schrijven, te spelen op open mics en zijn stem als artiest te ontwikkelen. Die nomadische levensstijl voedt nog steeds zijn songs, die vaak ontstaan in wisselende omgevingen.

In april 2024 verscheen zijn eerste EP Are You Lost Here?. De tracks omarmen een warme, sfeervolle folkpop waarin strijkers, fagot en flugelhorn de gelaagde arrangementen kleuren. Invloeden van Bon Iver en Sufjan Stevens zijn hoorbaar, maar de klassieke achtergrond van Iskander schemert onbewust door in de rijke harmonieën en subtiele dynamiek. Met zijn nieuwe single Ghosts zet Iskander Moon een volgende stap en koppelt een krachtig refrein aan een donker thema. Het nummer toont Iskanders talent als componist, arrangeur en producer in volle glorie. Hij schreef Ghosts tijdens een herfst in Berlijn. "Ik zat vaak aan de vleugel in mijn appartement. Ik wilde een song maken over de zoektocht naar jezelf terwijl het leven, met al haar uitdagingen, voorbij raast. De melodie voelde meteen krachtig aan – een mooi contrast met het donkere thema. Ghosts gaat over die blijvende zoektocht en de schemerzone die we moeten omarmen om vooruit te komen."
Iskander Moon is een artiest die voortdurend in beweging blijft en was al vaker in Nederland te zien als support van onder andere Néomi, Jake Bugg, Kids With Buns en Novastar.

Even voorstellen – Deaf Havana – We’re never getting out of here
Het aankomende album van alternatieve rockband Deaf Havana, We're Never Getting Out Of Here.
De komst van deze plaat markeert een nieuwe fase voor de band: het viertal werd een duo en frontman James Veck-Gilodi heeft op dit nieuwe werk compromisloos geschreven vanuit hemzelf. Na jaren van uitersten, prestatiedruk en instortingen is dit album een bevrijding; hun meest persoonlijke, rauwe en eerlijke werk tot nu toe.
Het album vangt een belangrijke persoonlijke transformatie voor Veck-Gilodi; eentje die veel heeft opgeleverd, maar niet zonder hoge kosten. De tracks op We're Never Getting Out zijn, ondanks hun sprankelende karakter, diep verdrietig en eerlijk. Elke angst, elke terugslag, elke confrontatie met het besef dat het leven waarvan je dacht dat je het had opgebouwd langzaam om je heen afbrokkelt, wordt eerlijk en rauw weergegeven

Die Toten Hosen - Een thuismatch op verplaatsing
Vraag aan een doorsnee Belg of hij/zij/het de band Die Toten Hosen kent en je krijgt gegarandeerd een bedenkelijke blik. Niet zo in Duitsland, want daar geniet de punk(rock)band godenstatus en prijken de Duitsers steevast bovenaan iedere affiche waar ze spelen. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat de Ancienne Belgique tot de nok vol gevuld was met uitbundige oosterburen. Een Belg vinden was eerlijk gezegd nog een grotere uitdaging dan Wally op A2-formaat.
Dat de pioniers van de Duitse punk in hun heimat een stevige fanbase hebben, is dan ook een understatement. Niet enkel was het optreden kort na aankondiging al uitverkocht, veel fans reisden ook mee om een deel van de Europese tournee ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ mee te beleven.
Duitsers dragen gemütlichkeit hoog in het vaandel en dat werd ook duidelijk bij het betreden van de grote zaal: de balkons waren her en der gedrapeerd met vlaggen van supporterclubs en er werd gelachen en gegrold zoals enkel Duitsers dat kunnen. Verder vloeide het bier meer dan rijkelijk, zelfs op de heilige parketvloer van Brussels gezelligste concerttempel. De sfeer die vanaf het begin in de zaal hing, verraadde dat dit optreden meer zou zijn dan zomaar een concert. Het voelde alsof de Champions League finale gespeeld werd en dat Die Toten Hosen, de enige partij, al op voorhand gewonnen had.
De vrouwelijke punkband The Red Flags mocht de avond openen en bracht met veel passie en artistieke agressie hun songs. Het vleugje rauwheid dat bij punk hoort en een dikke middelvinger naar ‘het systeem’ ontbraken uiteraard niet. Vooral zangeres Polly wist te overtuigen met haar krachtige stem en podiumprésence. Hoewel duidelijk was dat de zaal vooral op Die Toten Hosen wachtte, liet The Red Flags zien dat ze meer is dan een opwarmertje.
De dames in kwestie brachten een frisse set die terecht op bijval kon rekenen. Feminisme op zijn best!
Toen Die Toten Hosen omstreeks 20:30 opkwam, was het publiek eigenlijk al in extase. Omdat het het laatste optreden van de Europese tournee was, hing er namelijk extra emotie in de lucht. De setlist zelf bleek een weloverwogen mix van oudere, snedige platen en recentere, populaire hits.
De aftrap werd gegeven met “Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod” (cover van Ennio Morricone) gevolgd door “Alle sagen das” en “Urknall” — krachtige openers die meteen het vuur aan de lont staken voor een energieke set die geen laagtes, maar enkel hoogtes kende. Zanger Campino en de zijnen genoten zichtbaar van de uitzinnige fans en keken tevreden toe hoe de ene na de andere crowdsurfer zich richting bühne liet brengen. De ambulance aan de ingang deed vermoeden dat niet iedereen opnieuw in het publiek terechtkwam achteraf.
Die Toten Hosen is meer dan enkel maar een band die zijn liedjes ten berde wil brengen. Het gaat om de totaalbeleving. Gevatte bindteksten en woorden van dank richting publiek konden dan ook niet ontbreken. Grappig was toen Campino zijn beste Frans en Nederlands probeerde boven te halen, maar snel naar het Duits overschakelde aangezien er toch quasi enkel Duitsers in het publiek te vinden waren. Enkel bij het herhaaldelijk scanderen van: “Waar is dat feestje?” werd af en toe met een zwaar Duits accent “Hier is dat feestje!” geantwoord.
Naar het einde van de set toe werd de verbondenheid met de fans nog meer in de verf gezet tijdens “Schönen Gruß, auf Wiederseh’n”. Toen werden enkele fans in de lucht gehesen met vlaggen van Die Toten Hosen en kreeg het geheel wel heel veel mee van een voetbalmatch. Nu ja, misschien wel niet geheel onterecht, want de bandleden beschrijven hun optredens vaak ook zo, en gebruiken bij de communicatie errond zowaar meer voetbalmetaforen dan in deze review. Alvorens definitieve afsluiter “Mehr Davon” in te zetten, kregen we nog de hymne “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. Voor die gelegenheid nam Campino zijn sjaal van Fortuna Düsseldorf, de voetbalclub die Die Toten Hosen nauw aan het hart ligt. De heerschappen zijn namelijk zelf afkomstig uit de hoofdstad van Noordrijn-Westfalen én daarenboven belangrijke sponsors van de club. Het publiek deed gewillig mee en zorgde zowaar voor een kippenvelmomentje.
Het optreden van Die Toten Hosen was een thuismatch op verplaatsing. Veel nieuwe zieltjes werden wellicht niet gewonnen aangezien het publiek bijna uitsluitend bestond uit doorwinterde fans die de gelegenheid grepen om hun favoriete band in een gezellige zaal als de AB mee te maken. Verder kan men stellen dat de band muzikaal erfgoed is in Duitsland.
De muziek, de teksten, de boodschap, de verbondenheid met de fans, de sfeer… het is iets unieks en zeldzaam in het wereldje. Koesteren dus, zelfs over de landsgrenzen heen!

Even voorstellen – Swim Swim Naked, Playful electronic-pop duo, shares visually striking music video, ’cool’
Swim Swim Naked are a Budapest-based electronic-pop duo from Hungary, founded in 2024 by singer Krisztina Nagy and producer Dani Makkay, who take the stage in bold jumpsuits and surround themselves with a tangle of colorful cables. Their project blends melodic pop elements with electronic music, featuring experimental rhythms and a unique mix of unusual sounds, such as splashing water.
Their debut EP, Octopus (February 2024), invites listeners on a shared “swim,” from the first splash to a deep dive. Their message focuses on supporting freedom, creativity, and an open-minded way of thinking. Their latest EP, Sepiida, will be released in 2025 and holds many surprises.
Musically, Cool dives into a funkier sound than previous releases – blending catchy melodies, vocal harmonies, and a fresh twist from an unexpected new instrument: the kazoo. But beneath the groove, there’s a deeper message: “Cool is about staying true to yourself, choosing kindness, and remaining good in a world that often feels upside down. Growing up comes with challenges – we start to see that things aren’t as simple as they seemed in childhood. The visual world of the video is dreamy and stylized, seen through a childlike lens with soft pastels and playful details. Everyday objects and small pleasures take center stage, in locations like the pool, locker room, showers, sauna, and reception. Characters include a receptionist, a cleaner, a lifeguard, kids, and even a man singing in the shower. Interestingly, there’s only one professional actor in the entire video – ifj. Vidnyánszky Attila, who plays the lead role. Everyone else featured in the video are close friends and family of the band — including Dani’s grandmother!
The duo has also made their presence known internationally, performing at DIY parties in Stockholm and Copenhagen, where they brought their vibrant and experimental sound to new audiences in grassroots, underground settings. The band has played at the international Sofar Sounds project in Debrecen, and has supported popular bands such as Kadebostany from Switzerland and Cari Cari from Austria.

Enigmatic polymath Keaton Henson has shared details of his highly anticipated new album Parader. Out 21st November via Play It Again Sam, the announcement comes alongside the release of a sardonic new single titled Insomnia.
Parader marks Henson's ninth studio album and his first since 2024's Somnambulant Cycles. It also follows his recent return single Lazy Magician (co-written by Ratboys' Julia Steiner), which was released in July, earning support from the likes of Rolling Stone UK, Crack, The Line Of Best Fit, The New Cue, Stereogum, Under The Radar, and GoldFlakePaint, who said it' hinted "at a bold new chapter on the horizon; a restless and romantic re-defining."
Whereas that last single nodded to Henson beginning to shed the "quiet boy" persona that has defined much of his career – if we're to omit his myriad efforts composing for film and theatre, an electronic side project, his classical offerings, his illustration and writing work – the new album sees him fully embracing the grunge-infused sounds of his youth. Across the record, the elusive songwriter melds emotional darkness, melancholy, and simmering frustration as he reckons with the hauntings of his past. Lacing fuzzy distortion and surging guitars amongst the confessional vulnerability that has long been a hallmark of his offerings, Henson explains, "I was always somewhat nervous about being too loud, but I sat down to write this record and it just came out."
New single Insomnia expands further on this new direction, entwining aching self-observation with a defiance Keaton terms "musical snark". Rife with an American heft in its fuzz-laden instrumentation, echoes of his past are creeping into frame. As he sings, "the haunted 7-Eleven's open all night," Henson's timeline is fragmenting, pulling him back more than a decade to the year he lived in California.

"I'm singing about the fact that I can't sleep from my bedroom in wild rural Sussex, looking out over the fields, but then it's like there's suddenly a 7-Eleven in the middle of the field, old memories invading my present" he explains, recalling insomnia-induced night walks around Los Angeles. The single is accompanied by a stunning animated stop motion video made by Henson himself which reflects the dreaminess and surrealism that comes with those long nights.
Those acquainted with Henson's work will surely be familiar with his well-worn reputation as a softly spoken, introverted figure who rarely performs live – in a 15-year career he's performed less than 40 times. Since emerging with his debut record Dear... in 2010, Henson has garnered critical acclaim for his mastery at weaving heart-on-sleeve vulnerability into emotionally poignant, folk-tinged outpourings. No stranger to anxiety's heavy weight, he's earned a devoted fan base from a self-imposed distance – shying from the spotlight to offer up the finite part of himself he's willing to give away. "Sadness I suppose" he once confessed, "is a feeling of which I have an excess of."
What unravels across Parader's 12 tracks is an introspective autopsy of time as it distorts and folds to alter and inhabit the songwriter's present. "There are these disjointed snapshots," he explains, "memories across time popping up amongst this collection of thoughts about what it feels like to be this age and a musician."
These glimpses of Henson's past, whether channelled in his lyrics or musically exposed in sneering riffs, might start to defy preconceptions of our reclusive balladeer. In a nod to his tender tone, Henson's oft-met comparison to Elliott Smith, while The Independent once dubbed him the "British Jeff Buckley", but, like the aforementioned pair, his early beginnings also took root in far heavier sounds. "Prior to being a mostly quiet musician I played in hardcore and emo bands," he shares. It's these snapshots of time that run amok on Parader, nostalgic distortions splintering the timeline's once-linear path.
To piece Parader together, Henson collaborated with a wealth of talent who could harness these influences and bring them into the light. Production duties were split between Luke Sital-Singh, who Henson soon discovered "grew up in a similar area at a similar time, so our reference points were the same," and Alex Farrar (Wednesday/Snail Mail): "the king of that loud, snarky American DIY sound." The intimately tender "Furl" also found a first-time co-writer in his wife, artist and musician Danielle Fricke, while Henson worked with Ratboys' Julia Steiner on the earlier mentioned "Lazy Magician" A downtrodden duet that unfolds like a haunting daydream before winding guitars soar, Henson explains: "Julia's voice is so evocative of that sound to me, it reminds me of when I first heard Rilo Kiley. She has a lot of the suburban magic-realism of the American bands I loved back then."

Sdban records news - Glass Museum maps the rhythms of city life on new album 4N4LOG CITY

After two albums inspired by vast northern landscapes, the forces of nature, and an ever-present sense of duality, Glass Museum shifts gears. The Brussels-based group—originally formed in 2016 by pianist Antoine Flipo and drummer Martin Grégoire—welcomes bassist Issam Labbene as an official third member, opening up a richer, more immersive sound and setting its sights on the rhythms of the modern city.
A true turning point in Glass Museum's career, the new album 4N4LOG CITY twists the codes of electronic music, explores the depths of jazz, and asserts its eclecticism through a fresh and infectious groove.
Signed to the forward-thinking Belgian label Sdban Records, the group shapes its identity within the vaulted ceilings of Volta, a creative hub in Brussels frequented by the vanguard of Belgium's "new scene." Sharing space with acts like ECHT!, Lander & Adriaan, and Tukan, the band continues to push its boundaries through collaboration and reinvention.
Recorded between the French countryside of Drôme, the industrial edges of Brussels, and Volta, 4N4LOG CITY features striking guest appearances. Swiss drummer Arthur Hnatek—known for his work with Tigran Hamasyan and Erik Truffaz, and praised by Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier—drives the opener "GATE 1" into hypnotic, krautrock-inspired territory. Meanwhile, rising vocalist JDS lends soulful grace to "Call Me Names", evoking the emotive textures and elegance of vintage soul-jazz reminiscent of the likes of Jordan Rakei or Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes.
Without abandoning their melodic roots and foundational approach, the trio takes daring steps into new terrain. The experimental centerpiece "III" explores the piano as a textural and rhythmic force, drifting between ambient and breakbeat. Elsewhere, the gritty "VAN GLAS"—a hip-hop-tinged track featuring rapper JAZZ BRAK of STIKSTOF—the band ventures far beyond their comfort zone, injecting streetwise lyricism in their mix of electronics and jazz.
Fueled by the heartbeat of the city, 4N4LOG CITY captures the mechanical ebb and flow beneath concrete towers—the anonymous rhythms of daily life moving over the asphalt, and the fleeting, meaningful connections made along the way. Produced by Antoine Flipo and mixed by Elsa Grelot (Avalanche Kaito), the album stands at the intersection of human emotion and urban architecture—a post-modern, deeply cinematic work that asserts Glass Museum's place at the cutting edge of European music.

Even voorstellen – Ash – Ad Astra
Het aankomende album van Noord-Ierse alternative rock band Ash verschijnt op 3 oktober. Het is hun negende studioalbum, Ad Astra.
Ash is al meer dan 30 jaar actief, ze braken wereldwijd door met hun album 1977, waarmee ze een nummer 1-positie op de Britse album-hitlijsten haalden. Hun sound wordt geassocieerd met Britpop, pop-punk en alternative rock. Met Ad Astra maken ze een drieluik compleet en volgen ze de platen Free All Angels (2022) en Race The Night (2023) op. Met deze albums laten ze de uitersten van hun sound horen. Ad Astra is daar een reactie op, waar de band over toelicht:
It was decided we needed something else. Something to bridge the gap between two contrasting modes of the band, a second act in the trilogy. And that kinda revealed itself to usbit by bit over the course of the album. Getting the title right before the record was complete (a first in 33 years!) brought out the theme of the album and turned what felt like an eclectic bunchof songs into something with maybe more of a narrative than we've ever had.

Basisinfo - Muziekclub N9 in Eeklo maakt zich weer op met enkele toppers (in spe) en heel wat te ontdekken muzikaal talent. Zowat alles komt aan bod: indie, rock, blues, jazz, gipsy, klassiek, funk, soul, chanson, belpop en drone.
Ook in het seizoen slaan muziekclub N9 en Cultuurhuis Herbakker (nieuwe naam en vernieuwd gebouw) de handen in elkaar.

Sound Track – het live en kansenparcours van VI.BE en de livesector
Helden in het Park brengt mensen van alle leeftijden en achtergronden samen. Muziekclub N9 organiseert het gratis muziekfestival al sinds 1995 onder de warme avondzon in het Heldenpark in Eeklo. Het is dé plek om je volledig te verliezen in livemuziek en een gezellige, zomerse sfeer.
Een gevarieerd liveprogramma
Vier donderdagen op rij kan je op Helden in het Park terecht voor onvergetelijke gratis concerten. Elke avond zorgen twee (inter)nationale topbands voor fantastische optredens op de main stage aan het kasteel.

LANDROVERS is een nieuw, grensverleggend muzikaal uitwisselingsproject, opgezet door
twee ervaren muziekhuizen aan weerszijden van de Nederlands-Belgische grens.
Muziekclub N9 en De Spot (Middelburg) slaan twee jaar lang de handen in elkaar om samen
en grensoverschrijdend acht concertavonden op poten te zetten. Zowel Nederlandse als
Belgische bands, jong bloed en gevestigd muzikaal talent worden tijdelijk weggeroofd uit hun
land van oorsprong, om er vervolgens over de landsgrens voor de leeuwen te worden gegooid!

Na zijn uitverkochte concerten in Vorst Nationaal in 2022 en in de Lotto Arena in Antwerpen in 2024, keert Bob Dylan dit najaar terug naar ons land voor drie concerten in een meer intieme setting. Op 26, 27 en 28 oktober vormt het historische Paleis voor Schone Kunsten (Bozar) in Brussel het verfijnde en sfeervolle decor voor wat ongetwijfeld een niet te missen concert belooft te worden. Het is een unieke kans om Dylan’s artistieke vakmanschap van dichtbij te beleven — een zeldzaam moment om de muzikale legende in een intieme setting aan het werk te zien.

Junior Eurosong: The Party’, de recent aangekondigde throwback-party die plaatsvindt op 28 maart 2026 in de Lotto Arena, krijgt er alvast twee klinkende nieuwe namen bij. Niemand minder dan Alexandra uit de editie van 2011 én Ralf Mackenbach, die in 2009 het Junior Eurovisiesongfestival won voor Nederland, vervoegen Laura Omloop, The Dalton Sisters, Pieter en Mijn Broer en Ik in de Lotto Arena.

Zoli – Swing in alle muzikale windrichtingen en stemmingen
Het Zoli repertoire weet verschillende generaties en muziekstijlen uit alle windstreken en uithoeken met elkaar te versmelten. De stijl, sfeer, stemming varieert enorm en het gaat van zomers ontspannend, onthaasten, genieten, prikkelen, de dansspieren aanspreken tot wegdromen, innemende donkerte, zich kwetsbaar opstellen.
Kortom, Zoli sleept je moeiteloos een twee uur lang mee in een boeiende trip!
Zoli is een heerlijk project van zes muzikanten die reeds jarenlang met muziek bezig zijn en in verschillende bands gespeeld hebben en gerespecteerd zijn. Ze omschrijven zichzelf als ‘broers en zusters die elkaar wisten te vinden’, met o.m. Silas en Rik die in allerhande projecten zitten (Silas en de Spreeuwen, Bootie Call, …).
De songs – gespeeld op uitsluitend akoestische instrumenten – is een mengeling van (gypsy) jazz, rock en blues. Ze zijn gekend en onbemind, ze worden opgestoft in een eigen origineel en swingend gypsy kleedje. De groove, de swing, de opwinding versus mijmering, intimiteit, ontroering.
We worden ‘ritsikoo-gewijs’ heen en weer geslingerd in hun liefde voor de stijlvariatie in het genre, die zorgt voor een frisse, warme wind.
De akoestische instrumenten als de aanvullende contrabas, banjo, kazoo, trekzak, klarinet en de wisselende mannelijke-vrouwelijke vocals en samenzang geven kleur, dynamiek en intensiteit, spanning. De stem van Febe mag ergens gelinkt worden aan deze van Lady Linn.
Op sfeervolle, broeierige en groovende wijze wordt de set op gang getrokken, filmisch- cinematografisch, gedrenkt in tragiek naar tequila Mexicana sunrise tot het kenmerkende zweterig ‘desert’gevoel, dit met nummers “All of me”, “The love me or die” en de instrumental “Minor swing”.
De instrumentatie krijgt voldoende ademruimte, nu net bepalend voor de sfeer en de stemming. Een sound die aangeeft zaken los te laten en zich te laten meedrijven bij ondergaande zon op het klotsende water; die zomerse tunes eigenen zich een plaatsje toe.
“Golden brown” laat hier een beneveld, mistig gevoel na, de daarop volgende rockabilly van “Misirlou”, de Nederlandstalige kleinkunstpop van “Poolijs”, het Franse chanson, de Zuiderse inslag van “Just of friend of mine”, “Caravan” of “Man of constant sorrow” werken helend. Op deze laatste krijg je een interessante mix van country, bluegrass, rootsamericana en gypsyswing, die ergens de sfeer van The broken circle breakdown en The Dead South doet opborrelen.
Het warme onthaal en de respons geeft de band vertrouwen en doet deugd.
Ook het tweede deel van de set is een dolle rit doorheen de Zuiderse desert en de oneindigheid van route 69. Het klinkt in z’n totaliteit swingend, zwierig, broeierig, energiek als sfeervol, dromerig, emotievol. Een uiterst aangename loungy als twinkelend sprankelende sfeer creëren ze.
Welke song hier ook aan bod kwam, het samenspel, de vocals en de afwisseling in hun stijl intrigeerde en maakte het boeiend broeierig. Ongedwongen speels, filmisch-cinematografisch laveert het combo van een “That man” , “All the world is green” naar “Perfect”, “It don’t mean a thing”, “Cold cold heart” tot de Parijse drama-nightclubbing-cabaretchanson van Zaz. Een balorkest was hier ook te vinden, zeker als een “I wanna be like you” van Louis Prima of een Balkan verzetstraditional (“Bella ciao”) op z’n Goran Bregovics werd ingezet.
Een doorwinterde band deze Zoli, een heerlijk project … Een band, pur sang, goed op elkaar ingespeeld, met songs uit het leven gegrepen, die de ballroom moeiteloos overstijgt.
Zoli blaast, strak in het pak, in alle muzikale windrichtingen en stemmingen wat respect afdwingt en lof verdient.
Op z’n Waterlanders gezegd ‘beter meer dan zomaar wat , niets is zo goed als dat …”. Zoli, c’est Jolie. Amusement, ontroering en realiteitszin ten top! …

‘House On Fire (Le Grand Incendie)’ is de Franse versie van het duet tussen Linda Elys en Milow. Het begon allemaal toen Linda een song van Milow bracht tijdens haar auditie voor ‘The Voice of Germany’. Jaren later ontmoetten de twee elkaar op een festival en doken ze de studio in voor een duetversie van Linda’s debuutsingle.

EEFJE DE VISSER BRENGT SINGLE 'NORMAAL TOEN' UIT EN KONDIGT VLIJMSCHERP-TOUR AAN
Eefje de Visser heeft haar nieuwe single ‘Normaal Toen’ uitgebracht. Normaal Toen is de derde single van Eefjes zesde album 'Vlijmscherp', dat uitkomt op 10 oktober. Eerder deze week kondigde de zangeres aan dat ze in het voorjaar op tour gaat door Nederland, België en Duitsland.
Over haar nieuwe single zegt Eefje: “In ‘Normaal Toen’ blik ik terug op jaren vol innerlijke onrust en onzekerheid. De song gaat over jong zijn en de weg kwijt, en over iemand vinden in al die onrust en gekte. Toch klinkt ‘Normaal Toen’ ook vrolijk, vurig en licht. Het doet me denken aan alle goede herinneringen uit diezelfde tijd, aan alle mensen met wie ik toen omging en in veel gevallen nog steeds omga. Een ode aan jong zijn, in de knoop zitten, en aan vriendschap.”
Eerder deze week kondigde Eefje aan dat ze in het najaar met 'Vlijmscherp' op internationale tour gaat. In februari en maart 2026 speelt ze negen shows in Nederland, België en Duitsland.

Krokus - Metal Rendez-Vous
Met ‘Metal Rendez-Vous’ uit 1980 brak de Zwitserse rockband Krokus internationaal door. Marc Storace werd binnengehaald als nieuwe zanger en de mix van klassieke hard-rock met de opkomende heavy metal sound van het begin van de jaren ’80 maken van dit album een mijlpaal. De single ‘Heatstrokes’ zette de deur open naar succes in Engeland en de US. Een album voor fans van Saxon, AC/DC, The Scorpions, UFO en Judas Priest.

Sleaford Mods have made an explosive return , releasing brand new single Megaton via Rough Trade Records.
Over an arc of rolling beats and atmospheric electronics, the track is peppered with acerbic bars digging out cultural mediocrity. A union of groove and guile, Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn are ruffling feathers and moving feet with their first new release as Sleaford Mods since 2023 album UK GRIM.
Continuing the duo’s partnership with the charity War Child, all profits from 'Megaton' will be donated to support War Child’s life-changing work with children affected by conflict.
“Megaton, No War No Death!” declares frontman Jason Williamson, echoing the song’s central rallying cry. “We should be aligned with one another but instead we are crippled by social media and the resulting separatism: Genocide… swipe… gym bods… swipe… food pics… swipe… starvation. Killing upon killing, so much terrible, horrifying information followed by a cat meme followed by faces filtered beyond recognition.”
He adds: “Such is the weight of trauma, guilt and powerlessness in privileged societies that we squirm like an overloaded petri dish full of algae fed by the algorithm. Everything is wrong and everything as a reaction is argued to be right, and in this we give birth to behaviours that smother solidarity and cause mass waves of haemorrhaging alienation while the world quietly collapses offscreen.”
Inspired by the song’s depiction of the noise and confusion engulfing society, the artist and photographer Nick Waplington has directed a video for the track that was filmed at Speaker’s Corner in London’s Hyde Park. A traditional location for speeches, debate and discussion since the 1800s, Williamson and Fearn dropped Megaton in amongst the regular speakers who swarm the park every Sunday morning
“When the opportunity came to work with Jason and Andrew, I jumped at the chance. We have a connection through a shared history in Nottingham, and what began as a photoshoot quickly developed into an idea for a video,” Nick Waplington explains.
“At a moment in history when our rights to protest, to freely assemble, and to freedom of speech seem under attack, while paradoxically being used in new and novel ways through social media and the internet it felt like the perfect idea to collaborate with the lyrically dexterous Sleaford Mods at one of Britain’s oldest bastions of free expression, Speakers’ Corner. It’s great to see this idea come to fruition. The track is fantastic, and I really think this film does it justice.”

With proceeds from the release going to War Child, the charity’s Live Music Lead Clare Sanders-Wright welcomed their on-going collaboration with the band.

Met 'Aisla' brengt Michiel De Maeseneer een derde single uit vóór 'Starts With A Flower', het tweede album van shitfruit, het levenslicht ziet. Het nummer klinkt onstuimiger en verscheurder dan zijn voorgangers, en tast de fragiele grens af tussen verlangen, rationaliteit en afstand.
De tekst draait rond het gevoel nooit genoeg te zijn, en de vraag of vrijheid, timing en nabijheid ooit samen kunnen bestaan. “You lead my mind every time / but never on time” klinkt het, een mantra van gemis en frustratie die zich tegelijk vastbijt en loslaat. Het refrein “Ai ai ai Aisla / all you got is love for them / but never enough” is zowel bezwering als een wanhoopskreet, echoënd in een emotionele ruimte die intiem en vervreemdend aanvoelt.
Muzikaal blijft shitfruit trouw aan dromerige melancholie, hi-fi opnames en een stem die gevaarlijk dichtbij kruipt. Maar in 'Aisla' sluipen herhalingen die mantra’s worden, en een ritmiek die schuurt en tegelijk meesleept. Het is muziek die de luisteraar niet langer enkel observeert, maar meeneemt in een directe zoektocht naar houvast.
Met deze single release zet De Maeseneer de laatste stap richting zijn nieuwe album 'Starts With A Flower'. 'Aisla' klinkt als een open wonde die weigert te helen en precies daarin schuilt de kracht van de song.
shitfruit is het muzikale alter ego van engineer, producer en multi-instrumentalist Michiel De Maeseneer. Wat begon als een zoektocht naar houvast na een turbulente periode in 2021, groeide al snel uit tot een creatieve uitlaatklep in zijn studio in Brussel. Omringd door een bonte verzameling instrumenten bouwde Michiel laag per laag aan zijn eigen sound. Het resultaat? ‘salad’, het debuutalbum van shitfruit dat in 2024 verscheen. Een plaat waarin eerlijkheid en emotie centraal stonden maar die vooral ook de kracht van het opnieuw beginnen vierde.

Even voorstellen - Indierockband Vera & The Sleepover Club maakt rauw punk-uitstapje met ‘Hit (Something)’
Met hun nieuwe single laat Vera & The Sleepover Club een andere kant van zichzelf zien. Hit (Something) is een meta punknummer bestaande uit één akkoord en een tekst vol zelfspot. Waar frontvrouw Vera Baldé ooit bekendstond als gevoelige singer-songwriter, kiest ze nu bewust voor de ongepolijste energie van punk. “Toen trad ik op met persoonlijke liedjes en ingewikkelde akkoordenprogressies, maar dit keer wilde ik gewoon iets rauws maken; iets vets waar mensen op kunnen dansen”, vertelt Baldé.
Hit (Something) gaat over het niet kunnen schrijven van een punknummer, in het jasje van een punknummer. Een zoektocht naar de rauwheid, lelijkheid en ongegeneerde boosheid. Hoe lekker zou het zijn om soms alles los te laten? ‘Maybe I should hit something, or something? Can I be someone, someone like that?’.
De release markeert ook de komst van nieuwe bassist Daniël Lokerse, die de videoclip maakte met zijn ouderwetse VHS-camera. In die clip speelt de band onbeschaamd met het idee dat ze the coolest band ever zijn, uiteraard met een dikke knipoog.

Op maandag 15 september deelt Tsar B haar nieuwe single "Amor", de eerste release sinds de release van haar album To The Stars in 2023. "Amor" is geïnspireerd op de Italiaanse componist Claudio Monteverdi's aangrijpende sopraansolo "Lamento della Ninfa" ("De klaagzang van de nimf")
"Ik heb de zanglijn in het refrein verwerkt, maar er nieuwe teksten voor geschreven. De nimf – het personage dat ik in het lied vertolk – zingt over een gebroken hart. Niet om mijn geliefde, maar om een wereld die mijn hart gebroken heeft – om alles wat er nu in de wereld gebeurt met de aangaande genocides. Het is een oproep voor liefde."
EEN VISUELE WERELD
In de videoclip, geregisseerd door Ensor-winnaar Lennert Madou, zien we Tsar B een gigantische vogel bestijgen – vanop haar gevleugelde metgezel overziet ze de chaos en wanhoop, op veilige afstand. Bourgeus benadrukt dat het personage dat ze in de video speelt – in tegenstelling tot de nimf – verlamd en machteloos is geworden door het voortdurende lijden waarmee ze geconfronteerd wordt: ze vliegt, maar kan niet afdalen. Hoewel het heroïsche, mythologische beelden oproept, is ze in feite eerder een antiheld geworden.
"Voor de video werkte ik opnieuw samen met mijn visuele echtgenoot, Lennert Madou. Ik componeer soundtracks voor zijn films, en hij regisseert mijn video's. Hij begrijpt mijn concepten en ideeën door en door, waardoor samenwerken zo'n plezier is. De meesterlijke poppenmakers met wie ik altijd werk, hebben een 12 meter lange vogel gemaakt."
OVER TSAR B
Tsar B is een multi-instrumentalist, producer en componist. Opgeleid als klassiek violiste, maakte ze haar entree in de indie¬wereld met de release van haar eerste solo-EP, die internationale aandacht kreeg van onder meer The Fader, Noisey UK en de BBC. Sindsdien bracht ze volledig onafhankelijk twee studioalbums en drie EP's uit, en in het begin van 2026 verschijnt haar langverwachte nieuwe album.
Tsar B is een veelgevraagd opera- en filmcomponist. Haar muziek heeft een grote aanhang in de danswereld: haar tracks worden regelmatig gebruikt in So You Think You Can Dance USA en in talloze choreografieën overal ter wereld. mark william lewis returns to announce his new album and share its upbeat, harmonica-kissed second single, “Still Above.” The self-titled album, Mark William Lewis, will arrive September 12 via A24 Music.
“Still Above” and “Tomorrow is Perfect” together stand as testament to mark william lewis’ gifts, a unique songwriter with a widescreen scope who combines texturally rich soundscapes with vivid, poetic lyrics and an immediately recognizable vocal delivery. Whereas “Tomorrow is Perfect” gradually swelled with hypnotic grace, here Lewis finds an off-kilter tempo, his deep voice riding atop a rollicking groove, punctuated by trumpet and his signature dub-inspired harmonica stabs.
Speaking about “Still Above,” Lewis says: “Still Above” is the morning after an argument. You are trying to remember what happened the night before but the memories are blurry. Part of you wants to repair the emotional wreckage, but another part of you wants to stay in bed and relax into the familiar comforts of conflict.
Mark William Lewis is due to be the London-based artist’s first album with A24 Music, a fully formed arrival following a series of celebrated self-released EPs, mixtapes and singles. Notably, it will also be the first independent artist project released by the label. The self-titled album marks a new chapter for the artist — one that feels confident, innovative, and timely.
Over the past few years, Lewis has become a fixture in more innovative spaces of London’s live music scene, with his performances and music becoming a word-of-mouth success. This led to sold-out US debut headline shows at Elsewhere and Public Records (NYC) and The Echo (LA) last year as well as a full headline show at a sold-out ICA earlier this year, before embarking on a full UK tour.

Based in Manchester, Jasmine became the first UK signee to Phoebe Bridgers' label and her debut album You Are The Morning, produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus was released in January.
The light still breaks through each morning. That’s the driving sentiment on You Are The Morning, the debut album from trans woman and singer-songwriter jasmine.4.t. Its title is dedicated to queer friendship, which she says saved her life. For her, queer people represent “a fresh start, new days which are beautiful and cosmic.”
On You Are The Morning (YBT Deluxe), Jasmine said:
"This deluxe version of my record is dedicated to political prisoner Yulia Trot aka YBT. I met Yulia at the first queer event I ever attended. It was six months after I had come out, and I was still living in Bristol but staying with friends in Manchester. Yulia and I became really close - she taught me how to do my makeup over FaceTime, supported me through my marriage ending, and when I became homeless I moved onto the sofa of her one-bed flat in Manchester until I found a room. She stayed by my side through the toughest times of my life, giving me the strength to carry on through my transition, and in time we became each others’ chosen family. When I started performing as Jasmine, she would come on the road with me as roadie/security. There were a few times when she put herself between me and men twice her size who wished to harm me.
As the project grew, Yulia continued touring with us, running the merch stand and selling her handmade friendship bracelets for the benefit of Trans Mutual Aid Manchester, an organisation that supports members of my community with essential costs. She became a close friend of the whole band and a vital, supportive and reliable member of our community.
One evening in November 2024, while we were recording a live session for 6 Music, we heard news that Yulia had been arrested that day in a violent raid on her home. She is one of the Filton 24, arrestees alleged to be connected with a group of actionists entering the UK headquarters of Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit systems in August 2024, where £1m worth of damage was said to be caused. This included killer Israeli drones that have been reported to target Palestinian children in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Our beloved Yulia was initially arrested under terrorism law in a gross misuse of legislation that allowed heavy-handed police powers. She was then charged with the non-terror offences of burglary and trespass, but transferred as a political prisoner to a maximum security private prison on the other side of the country, away from her family and friends, where she will be held on remand for a total of two years until her trial. As with several other protestors that the state wishes to make an example of, she was kept in the rehab wing so that she would experience sensory torture from the constant screams of inmates experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The prosecutors’ details were shared with Israeli state officials in a breach of judicial independence. The United Nations have intervened in this case, stating that anti-terrorism legislation “may have been used to circumvent procedural safeguards in relation to detention, and as a specific and general deterrent” in a serious breach of human rights standards. Several international humanitarian law firms have cosigned a letter (https://eldh.eu/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/UK-Filton-18-Statement.pdf ) warning that this case signals a serious backslide of democracy and the rule of law.
Since her arrest, Yulia’s chosen family and friends have been regularly visiting her at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey and supporting her financially while in prison. Her absence is felt deeply and the visits to the prison carry an enormous emotional toll for us all. It terrifies me to see how my best friend’s mental health has deteriorated - she is autistic and is really struggling on the inside. There have been several periods where we have worried about her not surviving until her trial.
Entering the prison as a trans woman is terrifying, knowing how trans women are treated in prison. The first time I visited I was groped, and the second time I visited one of the guards made a joke about sexually assaulting prisoners. Though Bronzefield is the largest “Woman’s Prison” in Europe, several inmates there are transsexual men who are forcibly detransitioned on entry and denied access to their testosterone. Recently a trans man died in custody there - he was one of Yulia’s friends. This all happens while pride flags are displayed in the visiting hall. These daily traumas are wearing down on Yulia to the point where she thinks she is no longer herself, and will never be the same again.
Since my record was centred around themes of queer solidarity, queer friendship and queer love, three things that I believe Yulia personifies, it made sense to dedicate this deluxe version to her. These are some of the songs that she loved the most and often requested live, in particular “Did U No”, which was her favourite. I visited Yulia in prison during the recording session for this track, and I remember crying, screaming, and channeling my rage at the state into the vocals when I returned to the studio that evening.
We had planned to record “Did U No” for the album originally, as it was also a favourite of Phoebe’s, but sadly we ran out of time in LA. It is such a joy, now, to be able to finally get it down. It is joined by “Find Ur Ppl”, which was the second song that I wrote after coming out (following “Woman”). “Find Ur Ppl” is a song about meeting Yulia and the Manchester community, which feels vitally important given how many young trans people are in danger, isolated and in need of the safe haven of queer camaraderie. “I Can’t Believe I Did This Without You” and “I Don’t Think Anyone Else Could Hold The Same Place In My Heart” are two new songs on this release that I wrote during the LA recording sessions for the album, up on the roof of Sound City Studio between takes. I recorded five songs as demos and sent them as a thank you to my bandmates and producers after returning home to Manchester from LA. It’s nice to have more polished versions of these two. The remaining song, “Please Can We Hold Each Other Yesterday,” is a more recent ode to lost time with loved ones. I demoed this track on my phone and Steph Marziano (the awesome producer of these new tracks) liked it so much, as it was, that she suggested we didn’t re-record it and release it as is. I love how these tracks have turned out, with the help of Steph and the incredible band lineup that I have been playing live with this summer - Phoenix Rousiamanis on violin and keys, Maeve Westall on drums and Emily Abbott on bass.
Now when I sing these songs, I am singing them to my best friend, my mother, my sister, my daughter - the political prisoner Yulia Trot. Of all the things that I have lived through, nothing has felt as big as losing her. I hope that one day she will be able to hear these recordings. I hope that one day she, all of her co-defendants, and all of Palestine, will be free.
Since releasing her debut album, Jasmine has toured extensively including support for Lucy Dacus as well as festival shows at Green Man, Reading & Leeds, End of the Road and many more. Jasmine will headline shows across the US, Europe, Australia, and the UK later this year.

Zangeres Runa Lotigiers en muzikant Johan Maekelberg (vader van producer/muzikant Jasper Maekelberg) vonden elkaar in 2023 als artistieke soulmates. Samen vormen ze RuWann, een nieuw muzikaal duo dat het Franse chanson opnieuw uitvindt met invloeden uit indie-folk, pop, bossanova en afro. Runa groeide op in de Dordogne en zingt in haar moedertaal, het Frans. Haar stem – intiem, krachtig en doorleefd – wordt gedragen door rijke, gelaagde arrangementen waarin tekst en muziek elkaar versterken. Ze noemen hun eigen werk “levensliederen”: songs die verhalen over liefde, melancholie, verlies, hoop en de wonderen der natuur, steeds met de blik vooruit.
De vooruitgeschoven eerste single 'Toi', die verscheen in april 2025, is een ode aan alle artiesten en ambachtslieden, die gedreven door de liefde voor hun vak en tegen alle stroom in, hun talenten blijven delen. Hieruit werd het idee geboren een samenwerking aan te gaan met verschillende artiesten in het kader van de album release show van 11 oktober 2025, die plaats vindt Bij’ De Vieze Gasten in Gent. Elke kunstenaar kreeg 1 song om zich te laten inspireren. Het zal een avond worden waar diverse kunstvormen de songs aan elkaar zullen vlechten : van dichtkunst over dans tot glasblazen en zoveel meer. Alle kunstwerken zullen ook te bezichtigen zijn.
RuWann treedt al meer dan een jaar op als duo, maar voor de release van hun album zullen ze hun muziek met een full-band brengen. Ze zullen het podium delen met Laurens Smagghe (drums), Tom Goethals (bass) en Jan Roelkens (keys).
Laat je meevoeren en onderdompelen in een zee van emotievolle songs met een universeel karakter, waarin elke gevoelige luisteraar zich kan herkennen.

De Brusselse rapper brengt zijn derde single uit van het aankomende album Dit is Guy., dat op 24 september zal verschijnen. Gorik Pt. 2 is het vervolg van Gorik Pt.1 uit zijn album Wie is Guy?. We horen eerst een fragment van de toen 6-jarige Gorik die inbelt op het populaire radio programma 'Radio Fantastiek'. Hij beloofd in het gesprek om goed te zorgen voor zijn moeder. Rosie has been making name in the Belgian alternative scene for a couple years now and her work has consistently caught our attention. The fact that Rosie resides in our hometown Ghent makes the connection even stronger!
More exciting news - Rosie Stuart has recently been selected for the preliminary rounds of Sound Track, a Belgian music competition organized by VI.BE. On October 11th, Rosie and her great band will perform at De Casino in Sint-Niklaas, contending for a place in the finals. Laureates win a year of tailored guidance, residencies, studio time, national exposure and international showcase opportunities.

‘Vegan’ will be the first of two singles leading up to Rosie Stuart’s forthcoming EP.
With ‘Vegan’, Rosie won the Baloise on Stage singer-songwriter competition, organized by Baloise in collaboration with Belgian alternative rock band Het Zesde Metaal.
Winning the competition gave Rosie the chance to record the single in a professional studio, with coaching from Het Zesde Metaal.
About ‘Vegan’
What sounds like a primal, animalistic invitation to touch turns out to be an ironic yet heartbreaking cry for connection. The track starts small and almost shy, simmering with suppressed frustration before erupting into a raw energy where the pain relentlessly lingers.

"Mount Crystal's lore is driven by the embodiment of desire, danger, and desperation. A mirrored dimension in a distant reality where nothing is left unsaid. These chapters crave to tear apart the illusion of pleasure by alchemising the unrelenting pain I've experienced in my efforts to love, deny, and embrace the sweetest melodies with the sweetest friends."
The album's second single, the super-charged centrepiece, "HARK!", crosses sinister funk with serene majesty. "Not even them mountains can stop you! Not even them angels can help you!" Joviale shouts into the horizon as records scratch, guitars solo, and voices shriek and laugh. The group leaned into an evil groove during its recording, where Michael Jackson's Thriller was a studio playlist staple. Joviale said about the track, "some things don't make sense, but we can still have fun in that uncertainty".
"HARK!" follows the release of the album's debut single, "Moonshine", which built to rhythmic bliss with James Mollison of Ezra Collective on saxophone, and previewed an electric, soulful, and jazzy new direction for Joviale.
Inspired by the comedic musical mastery of Prince's 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon and the offbeat surrealism of David Lynch's Twin Peaks, Joviale first saw Mount Crystal as a murder mystery, hypothetically casting each collaborator as a character in the story. Co-producer John Carroll Kirby (Steve Lacy, Frank Ocean, Solange, Kacey Musgraves) became the American cop investigator tracking a series of murders in a strange British hotel. Joviale and contributors Fabiana Palladino and Laura Groves are entertainers at the hotel; co-producer Joshua Gaskin-Brown, aka Jkarri (PinkPantheress, Nia Archives, Bel Cobain, Natanya), is the resident handyman always at work in the periphery, and so on. The loose framework immediately set a relaxed, anything-goes mentality to recording sessions spread over various makeshift studio set-ups, including Joviale's living room during a month-long stay in Barcelona. "We all have one thing in common, which is that we love to jam as musicians and love to have a stupid time and we will work from each other's houses," says Joviale. "In this trio with John and Joshua, I felt very much in the lead; they'd be like, 'we get it,' and that's because we were able to jam through it."
Joviale's personality reverberates across Mount Crystal's densely detailed world. They speak with swagger and sing skyward, cutting through rubbery basslines and angular strums, synthesised horns and harps, unruly beats, and unusual sound bites. The antithesis of background music, these songs leap from headphones much like an engrossing movie makes itself known on screen. Joviale's sonic references span Sade, Kate Bush, Janet Jackson, Todd Rundgren, '60s girl groups, Japanese composers, and "the freaky guys and girls and the divas of the '80s… glamorous rock'n'roll, Rick James, Prince, Quincy." Artists who prioritised playful ambition and bravado.
While set up as fictional abstractions, songs also reflect Joviale's lived-in experiences: broken-hearted letdowns, realisations, and the search for clarity and truth. Sequencing arcs upward and back down as if scaling its namesake. Lyrics detail dynamics between the self and others.
Beyond metaphorical mountains and murder mysteries, Joviale's debut album is a statement of artistic identity and purpose. A work that speaks to patience and collaborative ethos, surrendering oneself to music-making, and letting the process lead you somewhere new. Mount Crystal reveals itself as the pop record it's been reaching for. "We have come a long way," Joviale sings on the hand-clapped "Wishing" - a second voice responds, "I go where I need to go" - and in that moment, in accord with their crew, Joviale confirms acceptance and the lesson learned, that life keeps going.

32e top 10-hit in de carrière van het iconische dance-duo

De comeback van Milk Inc. is een feit. Een week na de release van hun nieuwe single ‘Unstoppable’ – de eerste in elf jaar - stormt het duo de Ultratop binnen op #2, een bijzonder indrukwekkend resultaat. Dit markeert bovendien hun 32e top 10-hit, een prestatie die hun status als een van de meest succesvolle Belgische danceformaties ooit onderstreept.
Met ‘Unstoppable’ keren Regi Penxten en Linda Mertens terug met een nummer dat kracht en positiviteit uitstraalt. Linda schreef zelf mee aan de track, die geïnspireerd is door haar persoonlijke verhaal en dat van Milk Inc.:
“’Unstoppable’ gaat over veerkracht,” vertelt Linda. “Soms voelt het alsof je de weg kwijt bent en de mist niet optrekt. Maar uiteindelijk vind je altijd de kracht om door te gaan – sterker dan ooit.”
Ook Regi is enthousiast over het succes:
“We wisten dat veel mensen zaten te wachten op de terugkeer van Milk Inc., maar dit is echt waanzinnig,” zegt Regi. “Een nieuwe hit na zoveel jaar, daar hadden we enkel van kunnen dromen. Het geeft ons enorm veel energie om er straks in het Sportpaleis een onvergetelijk feest van te maken.”
De release van ‘Unstoppable’ is slechts het begin van een nieuw hoofdstuk voor Milk Inc. Eind oktober staat het duo met hun spectaculaire show Unstoppable – Regi, Linda & Friends twee keer in de AFAS Dome (Sportpaleis) in Antwerpen. De concerten beloven een feest te worden vol hits en emotie, waarin het publiek opnieuw kan genieten van klassiekers als ‘Walk on Water’, ‘La Vache’, ‘Whisper’ en ‘Go To Hell’, aangevuld met hun nieuwe werk.

Met zijn nieuwe single 'Mantra' zet RAMAN. een eerste krachtige stap richting zijn langverwachte debuutalbum, dat op 9 januari 2026 verschijnt.
De song is een pleidooi om elke dag ten volle te leven en gaat over groei, het omgaan met chaos en het ontluiken van een nieuwe realiteit. 'Mantra' fungeert daarbij als een oproep tot overgave aan de schoonheid van het dagelijkse leven.
Uniek aan de track is de repetitieve, bezwerende drumgroove die een solide fundament legt onder een catchy, meeslepende gitaarriff. Naar het einde toe barst het nummer open in intense, melancholische vocals die doen denken aan de bezieling van Jeff Buckley of de experimentele melancholie van Talk Talk en Radiohead.
Met 'Mantra' laat RAMAN. opnieuw horen waarom zijn naam steeds vaker valt in de Belgische muziekscene. Het nummer biedt niet alleen een krachtig statement, maar ook een voorproef van de intensiteit die zijn debuutalbum zal kenmerken.

Samen met de release van zijn nieuwe single 'Mantra', dat qua sound een blikt werpt op zijn langverwachte debuutalbum, presenteert RAMAN. een intrigerende videoclip. Het filmische karakter roept associaties op met arthouse classics zoals 'Paris, Texas' (Wim Wenders) en 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me' (David Lynch). Vol mysterie en symboliek versterkt de clip de eigenzinnige intensiteit van de track.
In de betoverende beelden wordt gespeeld met parallelle realiteiten: het hoofdpersonage ontvangt een talisman uit handen van zijn eigen spiegelbeeld. Een visuele metafoor voor de thematiek van 'Mantra': transformatie, overgave en het omarmen van een nieuwe realiteit.
De clip werd opgenomen en gemonteerd door Brian Van Es (Triggerfinger, The Radar Station, Lady Linn, PEER) en voorzien van een opvallend kostuum met bloem, ontworpen door Ruth Vieren.
AANKONDIGING DEBUUTALBUM
RAMAN. luidt de weg naar zijn debuutalbum in met twee eerste singles: 'When Loneliness Succeeds' (release december 2024), 'Boat' (release juni 2025) en 'Mantra' (release september 2025).
Het proces om tot deze plaat te komen, startte jaren geleden. Na zijn eerste EP 'Birth of Joy' in 2019, ontwikkelde RAMAN. zich gestaag als artiest. Zijn live-optredens bouwden een sterke reputatie op, met concerten in iconische zalen zoals Paradiso Amsterdam, 013 Tilburg, Ancienne Belgique en festivals als Gent Jazz en Boomtown. Hij deelde het podium met gerenommeerde artiesten als Arno, Trixie Whitley en Kaiser Chiefs, wat hem een breed en loyaal publiek opleverde.
De pandemie dwong hem tot een tijdelijke pauze, maar betekende ook een intensieve zoektocht naar een eigen stijl en sound. RAMAN. werkte samen met enkele van de beste muzikanten en producers, waaronder Staf Verbeeck, Pascal Deweze en Koen Gisen. Onder hun begeleiding werden de nummers verder verfijnd en kregen ze de diepte en intensiteit die RAMAN.'s muziek kenmerkt. Samen met bassist Kris Auman (Endlingr, Strand of Oaks) en drummer Sylvester Vanborm (Wallace Vanborn, Endlingr) zet RAMAN. een dynamisch, veelzijdig album neer dat intieme akoestische nummers combineert met grootse, energieke bandtracks.
UNIEKE MUZIKALE IDENTITEIT
De muziek van RAMAN. is geworteld in blues en traditionele genres, maar weet tegelijk de connectie te maken met moderne invloeden. Artiesten als Chris Whitley, Jeff Buckley en Jimmy Page klinken door in zijn sound, terwijl ook de experimentele aanpak van Beck, Talk Talk en Blake Mills zijn werk inspireert. Het resultaat is een unieke combinatie van rauwe emotie, melancholische instrumentale intermezzo's en een no-nonsense gitaargeluid dat tot leven komt in zowel zijn studio-opnames als zijn live-optredens.

Dit album is niet alleen een grote stap in RAMAN.'s artistieke ontwikkeling, maar ook een eerbetoon aan zijn mentor Tiny Legs Tim (RIP), die hem inspireerde en begeleidde tijdens zijn muzikale reis. Het album weerspiegelt RAMAN.'s zoektocht naar oprechtheid en verbondenheid.

RAMAN. is rauwe emotie, een no nonsense gitaargeluid, melancholische instrumentale intermezzo's en een stem die, eens hij je eenmaal vastgrijpt, nooit meer loslaat. RAMAN. drijft op een ruwe onderstroom van emotie, gedragen door melancholische instrumentatie, eerlijke teksten en meeslepende melodieën. Zijn muziek ademt de echo's van het leven door de moeilijkheden ervan bloot te leggen. In de straten van Gent vond hij zijn unieke stijl, gevormd door voorbeelden als Chris Whitley en Jeff Buckley.
Laverend tussen licht en schaduw in zijn permanente zoektocht naar oprechtheid is hij altijd onderweg. Als artist in residence in muziekclub N9 werkte RAMAN. in 2018 aan bluesy debuut-EP 'Birth Of Joy'. Hiervoor werkte hij samen met sound engineer Staf Verbeeck (Metal Molly, Gorki, Selah Sue, Mélanie di Biasio, Yong Yello, Calexico).De EP werd opgepikt door onder meer Focus Knack, Radio Willy en Studio Brussel. In november 2019 presenteerde hij deze debuut-EP met succes in een uitverkochte Minard Schouwburg in Gent. Sindsdien werkt hij samen met producers als Pascal Deweze (Metal Molly, Sukilove, Broken Glass Heroes, Roosbeef) en Koen Gisen (An Pierlé, Dans Dans, Meskerem Mees, The Bony King of Nowhere), onder wiens vleugels hij zijn opkomende eerste full album opnam.
Met zijn aangrijpende stem en sterk eigenzinnige songs, laat RAMAN. steeds een sterke live- reputatie achter. De gekende zalen in België en Nederland zijn geen onbekend terrein meer. Zo stond hij al verschillende keren in Ancienne Belgique, Trix, De Roma, Het Depot, Paradiso Amsterdam en Poppodium 013. Ook in het buitenland bouwt hij hard aan zijn parcours.
WAPENFEITEN
RAMAN. heeft reeds een heel parcours afgelegd en is niet meer aan zijn proefstuk toe. Na het wegkapen van verschillende prijzen, werkte hij in 2018 als Artist in Residence bij muziekclub N9 aan debuut-EP 'Birth of Joy' die hij eind 2019 met succes presenteerde in een uitverkochte Minard Schouwburg in Gent (opgepikt door o.a. Knack Focus, Dansende Beren, Musiczine en kreeg eerste airplay op Radio Willy & Studio Brussel). Festivals als Gent Jazz, Boomtown, Fonnefeesten en Zebrawoods volgden als vanzelf. Vanaf de zomer van 2021 verzorgde hij meermaals de voorprogramma's van Trixie Whitley, Novastar en Arno en voor internationale namen als Kaiser Chiefs, Catfish and the Bottlemen en Bombino.
Wat begon met clubshows groeide uit tot een indrukwekkend palmares als support act van zowel Belgische iconen als internationale namen. Zo stond ze al naast Arno, Novastar, Trixie Whitley, Black Box Revelation, Chantal Acda, Admiral Freebee, Roland Van Campenhout en de betreurde Tiny Legs Tim. Ook internationaal werden ze opgepikt, met passages in het voorprogramma van o.a. Kaiser Chiefs, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Dan Owen, Laurence Jones, Living Colour en Bombino.
Met de aankomende tour met Hooverphonic (NL, UK - oktober) zetten ze opnieuw een stap buiten de landsgrenzen. Intussen is Raman klaar om die opgebouwde ervaring en internationale flair te vertalen naar een eigen plek binnen de Belpop - en daarbuiten.
Ancienne Belgique, OLT Rivierenhof, Trix, De Roma, Het Depot, De Zwerver, Muziekclub N9 en Concertzaal De Casino vormen allemaal geen onbekend terrein meer. Ook in Nederland legt RAMAN. sinds 2020 zijn parcours af met shows in verschillende zalen als Paradiso Amsterdam, 013 Tilburg, De Helling Utrecht en Bruis Festival Maastricht.
In de studio zoekt RAMAN. traag maar gestaag naar een eigen sound. Samenwerkingen met klankmeesters Staf Verbeeck, Pascal Deweze, Koen Gisen, Tiny Legs Tim (R.I.P.), Alan Gevaert (dEUS) en Teun Verbruggen (Flat Earth Society, PJDS & many many more) toonden reeds de weg.

"NEKKA-INTIEM" serveert je voor de 5e keer van herfst tot lente een eigenzinnige maar vooral kunstzinnige selectie artiesten. Zij kiezen er allen bewust voor om in hun moedertaal te zingen, hun emoties uit te drukken, jullie te doen lachen en huilen. En meezingen. De ene artiest al wat bekender dan de andere, het ene lied al wat vertrouwder dan het andere, het ene genre al wat toegankelijker dan het andere. Maar alles in de mooie taal die ons Nederlands is en puttend uit een ongelooflijk mooi en rijk repertoire.
