De Casino, Sint-Niklaas – Blijven inzetten op diversiteit en groei
De Casino stelt zijn affiche voor van het voorjaar 2025 en blikt terug op een succesvol 2024. Met 44 000 bezoekers voor de concerten en nog eens 16 000 voor de uiteenlopende fuiven stevende De Casino af op een record sinds hun opening in 2011. De perfecte ligging , dicht bij het station en tussen Gent, Brussel en Antwerpen speelt in hun voordeel.
Ook de democratische prijzen en het creëren van een unieke club sfeer, is een pluspunt. 2024 was ook de doorbraak van Great Gigs in The Park, een succesvol outdoor gebeuren dat voor de vierde keer doorging in Casino Park.
In samenwerking met Stadsbestuur Sint-Niklaas en Studio Brussel. “We mochten hier een aantal try-outs voor grote festivals ontvangen willen het gebeuren verder doen uitgroeien tot hét stadsfestival van de toekomst”, vertellen zakelijk leider Yves Colleman en artistiek leider Steven Verschoore er over.
De Casino keek ook over de grenzen heen , zo werd in ’t Bau-Huis een uitverkocht concert georganiseerd van Manu Chao, en ook daar schuilen toekomst perspectieven: “Het nieuwe stadsbestuur liet in het bestuursakkoord optekenen dat het ‘t Bau-huis wil opwaarderen en er wil voorzien in een betere akoestiek. Die samenwerking kan ervoor zorgen dat we als centrale plek tussen Gent, Antwerpen en Brussel nog meer op de Vlaamse muziekkaart worden gezet.”, vertellen Bert Reniers, Yves Colleman en Steven Verschoore. En uiteraard was er Lawijtstrijd in diverse Wase Jeugdhuizen met een finale in De Casino zelf!
De Casino zet eveneens in op jongeren en jongerencultuur. Zo verschaffen ze een podia aan beginnende bands tijdens Sin City Burning en Casino Boite. Of programmeren jonge talenten in het voorprogramma van grote kleppers, om hen podiumkansen te geven. Verder zijn er ook initiatieven zoals AFTRAP! Voor studenten & scholieren, School’s out (om het einde van de examens te vieren), Big Bang, Nachtwinkel tot Club RiRix en andere diverse programma’s.
Wat brengt het nieuwe jaar?
Ook in 2025 blijft De Casino inzetten op diversiteit en groei. Ook voor het nieuwe jaar zit de organisatie op een positieve flow met reeds 10 000 tickets verkocht. Binnen het aanbod van de affiche blijft er ook nu weer plaats voor jazz, pop, rock tot roots. En tot zoveel andere genres en moois ...
Voor het aanbod van Metal gaat De Casino vaak de samenwerking aan met Biebob Concerts. Zo stond op 5 januari Dark Funeral op het podia. Er volgen nog een uitverkochte Cattle Decapitation op 24 januari , Thundermother op 9 februari en ook de Eurosongwinnaars Lordi staan in De Casino op zondag 3 april 2025.
Verder houdt Channel Zero voor hun afscheidstournee eveneens halt in De Casino op 27 en 28 mei. Uiteraard is en blijft er ook nog het aanbod DC Rocks! met op 9 mei alvast Peter Pan Speedrock , Batmobile, Dikke Denise & de Rockers.
De Casino zet eveneens in op Belgische toppers. Daan staat op 6 en 7 februari op het podium van de Casino. Ook Douglas Firs (8 februari), Brihang (4 maart), Sloper (20 maart) en verder Metal Molly (28 maart) en Yevgueni (14 mei) zijn enkele aanraders.
Voor het Roots aanbod verwijzen we graag door naar Stray Cats legende Lee Rocker die op 31 januari komt optreden. Verder ook nog The Cactus Blossoms (13 Februari), Sarah Shook & The Disarmers (17 April), Tommy Castro & the Painkillers (30 April) en For the love of Shane MacGowan, een ode aan Pogues Shane MacGowan (5 juni).
De zondag namiddag concerten in het kader van ‘Welcome to the Jazzclub’ blijven eveneens overeind. Julien Tassin Solo/Tassin-Hermia –Joris (26 Januari) mag het Jazz aanbod openen. Verder staan er nog op het programma: Alex Koo Trio (16 februari), The Rising Moon (9 maart ), Neve/Nobel (30 maart), The Easywood Killer (20 april) Mikael Godée – Eve Beuvens (4 mei) .
In Samenwerking met Bodybeats Production (de organisatie achter BIM Fest) staat ook dit jaar een heuse EBM Day op het programma.
DC presenteert in het voorjaar eveneens een nieuwe Sin City Burning-reeks met Lowmad (12 Februari) – Whale Machine (5 maart) en Cracks (9 april).
Inzetten op toekomstperspectieven
De Casino blijft ook een ondersteuning vormen voor mid-career artiesten dat door grote events en spelers wordt beheerst en streeft ernaar jongeren weer buiten te krijgen. Op vraag van diezelfde jongeren blijft De Casino inzetten op gemeenschapsvorming. Zo worden in Casino Café thematische Club Nights geprogrammeerd. Om een antwoord te bieden op die rijzende vraag van de inwoners van Sint-Niklaas.

The duality of "man" is a subject that has been explored in art for centuries, from writings of the Bible to Descartes, all the way up to filmmakers like Lynch, Cronenberg, and Carpenter. Who is your "true self" and what do they want?
With their sixth studio album Wish Defense (incoming Feburary 7, 2025 on Trouble In Mind Records), Chicago trio FACS take a good, long look in the mirror to face themselves. FACS' Brian Case notes that the album's lyrical content revolves around doppelgängers or "doubles", tackling the idea of facing yourself and observing your ideas and motivations.
Look no further than the album's title track- which premieres today: "Enter the mirror / Double walker / An intimate / Wish defense / Is it real? / You beside me / The detail / Terrifying / Abject self / Your grief / A public / Performance." Case lays out the entire album's theme in one stanza; Are your actions and emotions your true self? Or are they a performative aspect of that "other" person you put forward? Case says that ultimately the sentiment is "…don't let the bastards get you down, there's something beyond this moment, like hope- but not in the naive belief that ultimately people are good."
The return of FACS original member Jonathan Van Herik- who stepped away from the group just before their debut album Negative Houses was released, and replacing longtime bassist Alianna Kalaba- brings renewed vigor and a marked angularity from the band's more recent output. The songs still hit hard, but the approach is sideways; the roles have changed since Van Herik's original tenure and his previous time with Case and powerhouse drummer Noah Leger in Disappears; now on bass, Van Herik was originally the group's guitar player and features on the debut, while current guitarist Brian Case played bass. This role reversal has helped the band's dynamic, offering up a different musical perspective than before, now revisiting the trio's long-going collaboration with some distance and time.
A final note: Wish Defense is the last album engineered by Steve Albini. Two days were recorded at Electrical Audio in early May of 2024 before Steve's untimely passing, with renowned engineer and friend Sanford Parker stepping in to finish the session 24 hours later, tracking the last bits of vocals and overdubs. Longtime collaborator John Congleton mixed the album as Albini would have, in Electrical Audio's A room, off the tape, using Albini's notes about the session.
Wish Defense will be released on February 7, 2025 on compact disc, cassette, black vinyl and a limited white vinyl variant while supplies last [pre-order]. See FACS on tour in Europe throughout February, and look for more news to surface soon.

The announcement follows their Best New Artist GRAMMY nomination in November, with the nod coming off the back of their critically acclaimed album A LA SALA. Nick Hodgson’s new band Everyone Says Hi are pleased to announce details of their debut, self-titled album. It will be released end January via Chrysalis Records.
The ex-Kaiser Chiefs’ songwriter/drummer unveiled Everyone Says Hi earlier in the Spring with debut single, Brain Freeze, which was quickly followed by a first live performance at Brighton’s Great Escape and a pair of sell-out headline dates in Hodgson’s hometown of Leeds and London. A second track, the electric torchlit ballad (and album opener), Somebody Somewhere, was shared last month.
Everyone Says Hi sees Nick adopt the role of lead singer/guitarist/frontman, and brings together musicians Pete Denton on bass, Glenn Moule on drums, keyboard player Ben Gordon (ex-members of The Kooks, The Howling Bells, and Liverpool’s The Dead 60s respectively), alongside Leeds based guitarist Tom Dawson. The band’s name is lifted from a David Bowie song of the same title. What you hear across its 10 tracks is high-calibre, beautifully sculpted songcraft performed by high-calibre, experienced players. Not so much showing ‘promise’ here, but instantly delivering bonafide ‘big songs’ that belie the band’s status as relative newcomers. The record was produced by Nick at London’s Snap Studios and at his home studio.
“Everyone Says Hi” is the fruits of a multi-platinum musician deciding to draw a line and start afresh. Back to the same bedroom floor where the first tentative notes were played, holding the same guitar that was played way back when, back to forming a band with trusted friends, and back to booking the sticky basement stages where teeth were first cut. But whilst you can metaphorically wipe the slate clean on most things, you cannot unlearn what you already know. If emotionally-driven, arena-ready songs come almost second-nature, you’d be foolish to ignore the gift you’ve been given.
Everyone Says Hi - Only One
On the siren-call of Only One, Nick explains, “This was the first new song that came out of me for the album. Whenever I’ve written albums, they start with one song and when it happens I know that whether I like it or not, an album is happening.
“Only One is another love song essentially, but when I write a love song they’re not very romantic but more matter of fact. In this case I’m saying, I love it when you phone me up in the middle of the night, something that’s pretty inconvenient but because it’s a certain person, you love it.”
Nick has long been a songwriter in high demand. Since leaving his teenage band back in 2012, he has co-written for the likes of Dua Lipa, You Me At Six, Duran Duran, George Ezra, and Holly Humberstone, and collaborated on tracks alongside Mark Ronson, Kygo, and Shirley Bassey. Having racked up over 5 million cumulative album sales globally, Nick now focuses on a new challenge. You wouldn’t bet against him.

The UK’s most hotly-tipped independent band of 2024 HotWax today release new single “One More Reason”, the third track to be taken from the band’s debut album ‘Hot Shock’ out March 7th via Marathon Artists. The motoring, bassline-driven track is accompanied by an official video directed by longtime collaborator Josh Quinton, a collaged punk catwalk featuring underground legend Princess Julia and with clothes designed and styled by Greta. The band also today announce a string of spring UK and EU live dates, visiting towns and cities missed from their release week instore tour -
“When we were at Stella’s [Mozgawa, of Warpaint] studio in Joshua Tree we were jamming together and Lola started with this bass riff, instantly Stella said ‘We have to record this’” explains singer Tallulah Sim-Savage; “We got it down as a jam idea and over the next months we wrote One More Reason. We wanted it to feel like the opening song at a festival set, we wanted it to be relentless and addictive. It’s about loving someone so much you kinda hate it, which is relentless and addictive. “
HotWax’s debut album follows the release of two critically acclaimed 2023 EPs that launched the touring Hastings trio to ever bigger stages, playing over 150 blistering live shows in the past 18 months alone including Reading + Leeds, Mad Cool, All Points East, Download, support tours with Royal Blood, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Deap Vally and more. It’s the band’s incredible stagecraft and seemingly limitless energy that caught the attention of producer Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Wolf Alice) at Third Man Records’ Blue Basement last summer; “It was the sweatiest gig we have ever done – it was really, really packed,” explains Tallulah “Afterwards, Catherine came up to us and said, ‘Oh my god, I need to record your album with you. I want it to sound like the energy in this room. It needs to feel like a party.’”
The band went on to build an all-female team to record ‘Hot Shock’, with Marks co-producing alongside Steph Marziano (Picture Parlour, Cassandra Jenkins), bringing a crowd of the band’s friends into London’s legendary RAK Studios to record a live runthrough of the new record – perfectly capturing the distinct, dizzying energy of a HotWax gig. While touring the US, the band also recorded with Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa at her studio in Joshua Tree.
The result is an album made to be played to a crowd, loud and with abandon. But there’s also a beating pulse of vulnerability underscoring ‘Hot Shock’, written throughout the whirlwind of life on the road. “Touring and constantly living in the moment can be chaotic. But there’s also a feeling of knowing that the more life experience we gain, the more fearless we become” explains bassist Lola Sam. Although Hot Shock may traverse the unsettling terrain that comes with entering young adulthood, there’s also a sense of playful abandon that is never far behind. Childhood friends Sim-Savage and Sam have been writing together since they were 12, before the latter met drummer Alfie Sayers at music college five years later.
‘A Thousand Times’ EP lead single ‘Treasure’ reached the BBC Radio 6 Music B-List as well as a ‘Next Wave’ on BBC Radio 1, with the two EPs earning widespread support from The Sunday Times, The Independent, NME, Dork, DIY, Clash and many more. Tallulah, Lola & Alfie are ripping up the template and ripping up stages across the UK. Having only recently left school, their rarified live energy and sound has already won the support of Beck, Karen O, Courtney Love, Pete Doherty, Wolf Alice, Elton John, Zane Lowe and more.
Despite having been launched onto festival mainstages while still in their teens, HotWax are here for the long ride and show no signs of slowing down. In fact, ‘Hot Shock’ is only the beginning. Plush Baby release their first single of their upcoming album ‘The Heart Department’ set to release in October later this year. ‘Haha’ is a tribute to outcasts and misfits of every kind. What begins as a whimsical bedtime tale soon descends into a surreal nightmare: bright synths take a darker turn, and laughter curdles into unease.
The accompanying music video — a brilliant DIY effort using a handycam and greenscreen — depicts a bizarre children’s show that unravels in much the same way. The result is a bittersweet and undeniably catchy masterpiece. Watch the video of ‘Haha’ below.
Plush Baby is the musical and theatrical collaboration between Caitlin Talbut (BLUAI) and Nicolas Anné (Saving Nico). In 2023, they made it to the finals of the Sound Track music competition as a vibrant indie-pop duo.
In the meantime, they teamed up with producers Youniss Ahamadand Aram Santy to craft their debut album ‘The Heart Department’.Together, they explored a more experimental and mature sound that pushes the boundaries of the genre, capturing the themes of alienation and loneliness that resonate throughout the album.

CAVALLUNA brengt met ‘Grand Moments’ opnieuw een onvergetelijke beleving naar het Antwerpse Sportpaleis op 22 en 23 maart 2025. Zij die het al hebben meegemaakt, zullen het bevestigen: CAVALLUNA is meer dan een indrukwekkend paardenspektakel. Het is een magische reis voor de hele familie, vormgegeven door de adembenemende acts van enkele van de meest getalenteerde en gerenommeerde equipes ter wereld. Met artiesten uit Italië, Portugal, België, Spanje, Frankrijk en Duitsland, belichaamt de voorstelling opnieuw het internationale karakter van CAVALLUNA. Ook de extreem getalenteerde paarden worden van over de hele wereld geselecteerd om deel uit te maken van de ongelofelijke acts. Aan boord zijn onder meer de majestueuze Friezen, elegante Lusitano’s en vurige Andalusiërs te vinden. De verschillende equipes, waarbij paard en ruiter mekaar blindelings vertrouwen, betoveren jong en oud met hun mysterieuze, maar prachtige band.

Na o.a. Mila Braeckman, de dochter van VTM Nieuwsanker Freek Braeckman en de bronzen (Tokio 2020) Paralympische ruitster Manon Claeys, zijn Stephanie Planckaert en haar jongste dochter Elara (9 jaar) deze keer de ambassadeurs voor CAVALLUNA’s ‘Grand Moments’. “We kennen dit paardengezelschap en hebben al eerdere voorstellingen met open mond bijgewoond”, zegt Stephanie lachend. “De omgang van de paarden met de ruiters en omgekeerd is inspirerend, beklijvend en gewoonweg onvoorstelbaar. Wij zijn ontzettend trots dat we, vanuit onze liefde voor de paarden, ambassadeurs mogen zijn van de nieuwe show, iets waar wij ongelofelijk naar uitkijken.”
Belgische trots Sylvie Willms schittert met vrijheidsdressuur - haar specialiteit - die tot in de kleinste bewegingen getuigt van het immense vertrouwen tussen mens en paard. Haar paarden volgen haar subtiele aanwijzingen als was het telepathie, wat de magische connectie zichtbaar maakt. Sylvies unieke band met haar dieren laat niemand onberoerd en laat het voltallige publiek muisstil achter.
Vanuit Italië betoveren Bartolo Messina en zijn team het publiek met hartverwarmende scènes, waarin zijn geliefde paarden en pony’s moeiteloos en in vrijheid de meest ontroerende en soms grappige nummers uitvoeren. Zijn schattige minipony’s, waaronder de publiekslieveling Johan the Gypsy, kunnen altijd op veel liefde en enthousiasme rekenen bij klein en groot. Daarnaast toont de hechte Giona-familie uit Verona de kracht van generaties lang vakmanschap. De indrukwekkende band binnen deze familie is hun grote inspiratiebron en straalt door in elke beweging. Het hoogtepunt is de Hongaarse Post, waarbij Diego op twee paarden staat en er zes andere – sommige in volledige vrijheid – over obstakels leidt.
De Portugese equipes brengen klassieke dressuur op zijn best. Luís Valença, de meest gerenommeerde trainer in klassieke dressuur, en zijn Lusitano-paarden presenteren gracieuze quadrilles die perfect gesynchroniseerd uitgevoerd worden. Filipe Fernandes, ooit een leerling van Valença, fascineert met de magie van zijn zwarte, majestueuze Friezen. Hun fiere gangen, lange manen en vloeiende bewegingen ademen elegantie, harmonie en vakmanschap.
De Hasta Luego Academy vanuit Frankrijk doet de hartslag flink de hoogte ingaan met spectaculaire stunts die de adem van het publiek doen stokken. Onder leiding van Erik Hasta Luego, die zelf wereldrecords op zijn naam heeft, voeren jonge talenten razendsnelle en halsbrekende manoeuvres uit. Hun indrukwekkende techniek en durf maken van elke act een adembenemend hoogtepunt.
De Spaanse equipes brengen de vurige ziel van Andalusië naar Antwerpen. Sebastián Fernández presenteert de traditionele en complexe doma vaquera-rijstijl in een prachtig LED-spektakel. Alejandro Barrionuevo verovert het publiek met emotionele solonummers onder begeleiding van romantische pianomuziek en met een betoverende pas de deux. Ook Carlos Román en zijn charismatische ezel Caramelo zorgen voor een brede lach op het gezicht van de hele familie. Met hun verrassende en humoristische acts toont het duo de diversiteit van de show.
De Duitse Equipe Pfeifer levert een ongeëvenaarde combinatie van kracht en schoonheid. Het onlosmakelijk verbonden duo Dajana en Nicki Pfeifer toont hun passie met een indrukwekkend waternummer en spannende vuurscènes. CocoRosie, the sister duo of Bianca and Sierra Casady announce the release of their eighth studio album Little Death Wishes, out March 28th on Joyful Noise. Along with the album and the upcoming European tour announcements, they share the album's second single and music video, "Cut Stitch Scar."
When a chapter of life ends and another fumbles to begin, one enters their dark night of the soul. This is exactly where we find the Casady sisters on their most existentialist and meaning-seeking song yet. Written while Bianca was gripped in heartbreak, "Cut Stitch Scar" mirrors the false starts of grief as the song barrels between sparsity and density. "Take a leap of faith,' Bianca sings with her trademark quaver "there may not be a plan for you." About the single the Casadys tell us: "Cut Stitch Scar" touches the very core of our universal waywardness and the precarious and precious nature of being human."
Late last year, CocoRosie started the next chapter with the single and video "Least I Have You," an ecstatic ode to sisterhood and the purest distillation of CocoRosie's 20-year-long career to date, alongside the announcement that they would be joining Joyful Noise Recordings (Deerhoof, ONEIDA, Kishi Bashi, WHY?, etc).

For just over twenty years, Bianca and Sierra Casady have transmuted the love, hardship, and ecstasy of sisterhood into some of the most daring, dangerous, and wildly original music our increasingly sanitized culture has known. CocoRosie has been a project consistently at the musical vanguard, influencing countless musicians while inspiring and creating refuge for the "criminal queers" of the world. Above all, CocoRosie has been a conduit for irrepressible artistic self-realization.
Little Death Wishes is as open and tenderhearted as anything they've ever created. The songs tell a kaleidoscopic story of the generational hardship of women and the shattered realities of their lives, the precarious and precious nature of being human, of being done wrong by love, and a final wish to be unbroken. It boils everything CocoRosie down to its most brutal essence: turning pain into knowledge, sisterhood into polemic, trash into treasure, and recalcifying kitsch and cliché into fresh truths.
The duo's 8th long player exists in its own musical lexicon. It is both primordial and tawdry, a rich bricolage of dusted-over pop culture signifiers that the sisters contort into their own sense of temporality. Contributing to the avant garde, yet unbeholden to contemporary trends, CocoRosie collects musical detritus from other times, which they fashion into their own baroque, theatricalized creations. With the sisters' hands deep in every layer of their music, each song on Little Death Wishes feels transportative and transformative.
"CocoRosie has been the center of our lives for such a long time now," says Bianca. In those years, the sisters have been infantilized and revered, fetishized and mirrored, misogynized and adored; at times willfully misunderstood by the press-which has failed to reduce the group into mere perverse whimsy. Despite it all, CocoRosie has continuously pursued the bravest and boldest routes, uplifting the rawest, unveiled, and most tender strands of humanity and nudging us toward the light.
CocoRosie has released seven studio albums to date: Put The Shine On (2020), Heartache City (2015), Tales of a Grasswidow (2013), Grey Oceans (2010), The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (2007), Noah's Ark (2005), and La maison de mon rêve (2004). In addition to CocoRosie tours and festival performances worldwide, CocoRosie has composed original scores for four full-length theatrical works by acclaimed director Robert Wilson; Peter Pan, Pushkin's Fairy Tales, Edda, and Jungle Book - with another project underway. They have also worked with the Kronos Quartet at their Jazz Festival in San Francisco for two seasons, creating a new collection of songs that will become a collaborative album with Kronos.
As a visual artist, Bianca Casady has mounted solo art exhibitions internationally, including at Deitch Projects (2007) and Cheim & Read Gallery (2012). As an experimental theater director, Bianca has created several plays, including NightShift (2012) at Kampnagel in Hamburg, Germany, Mother Hunting (2015) at the National Theater in Oslo, Norway, and The Angel Show (2017) at the National Theater Academy in Norway. Bianca hosts an ongoing experimental poetry course titled Remembering The Miracle and in 2023, the artist published her first poetry book, Au bord du ciel: Heaven bound. Sierra Casady has arranged and performed music globally, including with the Symphony Orchestra of Amsterdam, The ICA in London and The Sydney Opera House and created "Soul Life," an Opera staged at the Donau Festival in Krems.

LANDROVERS is een nieuw, grensverleggend muzikaal uitwisselingsproject, opgezet door
twee ervaren muziekhuizen aan weerszijden van de Nederlands-Belgische grens.
Muziekclub N9 en De Spot (Middelburg) slaan twee jaar lang de handen in elkaar om samen
en grensoverschrijdend acht concertavonden op poten te zetten. Zowel Nederlandse als
Belgische bands, jong bloed en gevestigd muzikaal talent worden tijdelijk weggeroofd uit hun
land van oorsprong, om er vervolgens over de landsgrens voor de leeuwen te worden gegooid!

In the end, little is known about Frank Rabeyrolles. A discreet character and an unclassifiable type of the French music scene, he got noticed in 2004 with Life behind the window, the first album of his project Double u. His dreamy and hybrid music, oscillating between pop, electronic and songwriting, surprises and seduces. He can be found in Les Inrockuptibles and Libération and is ranked album of the month in Trax.
A prolific and insatiable artist, Frank Rabeyrolles released a solid succession of albums under Double u first then Franklin on different labels such as Sonar Kollektiv, Nocturne, Karat, Plug Research. His way of creating over the years, and decades now, could be seen as an aspiration to artistic ritual driven by passion but also as an existential necessity ...At the end of 2011, it was under his real name that Frank Rabeyrolles decided to release a new album and with it, a desire to bare himself a little more. Between Experimental Pop, Folk Lo fi, Ambient, Frank never wanted or needed to choose.
The sequel arrives in 2021 with A ghost by the sea, a record that asserts itself as Ambient, also endowed with a melodic and contemplative obsession that has been a trademark since its beginnings.
In 2022 and 2023 he composed Boat Songs and Minor Blue, bittersweet ballads, in chiaroscuro, built around clear and concise guitars accompanied by Romain Delorme, Sebastien Pasquet in Guitar/Bass/Drums Trio.
We find themes such as the fatality of an escape from the world, the relationship to time, sometimes redemptive, sometimes alienating, leading to the loss of oneself. Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) has announced the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, If You Asked For A Picture — out on May 2nd, via Partisan Records. Returning to the studio with producer Yves Rothman, the project brims with an urgency, ambition, and devastating potency hinted at on Blondshell's 2023 self-titled debut, the specificity, self-examination, and nonchalant humor of which turned her into one of the most lauded new artists in recent memory.
If You Asked For A Picture's title borrows its title from a 1986 poem by the cherished American writer Mary Oliver, titled "Dogfish." In it, Oliver grapples with the idea of telling one's own story: how much to share, how much to keep for oneself — all questions Teitelbaum asked herself while writing the forthcoming LP.
"There's a part of the poem that says: 'I don't need to tell you everything I've been through. It's just another story of somebody trying to survive. Something I love about songs is that you're showing a snapshot of a person or a relationship, and showing a glimpse into a story can be just as important as trying to capture the entire thing. Sometimes it's even truer to the entire picture than if you tried to write everything down."
If You Asked For A Picture is alive with a more vital nuance both sonically and thematically, gesturing towards a deeper autobiographical story that taps into something painfully universal without being too overt. Teitelbaum explains, "The first record feels really black-and-white to me. This record has more questions."
Fans can get a taste of the new album in the form of the crushingly catchy accidental love story T&A — the video for which was directed by Hannah Bon and features three rescue dogs (Luna, Rooster, and Radar) matched with male counterparts. It's a nuanced take on the "men are like dogs" adage and an exploration of the idea that the dogs with the loudest barks are the ones that are the most afraid, exposing a vulnerability deep within the surface of a tough exterior.
About the track: "There's a Rolling Stones song on Tattoo You called 'Little T&A' and at one point in the song, he says 'tits and ass,' so I'm borrowing that. I think in music, it's easy to see things as either more sexualized or more romantic, and I wanted this to be both. I see it as a love story— maybe not the most fairy tale love story— but I wanted it to feel like a really narrative song, where one thing leads to another and then you end up somewhere you didn't expect. Normally that's not how I write, but I wanted a song like that."
Teitelbaum previously shared another album track What's Fair, which Billboard said "fulfills the Blondshell promise and even evolves it to a new level of excellence" and Rolling Stone called a "cathartic rocker ... sonically harks back to Nineties alt-rock and SoCal pop punk, with a sunny melody masking darker lyrics."

In de lente brengen ze hun derde album uit en beginnen ze aan een Europese tournee
Het Franse, elektronische duo Polo & Pan maakt zich op om dit jaar een nieuw album uit te brengen. Als voorproefje onthullen ze "Disco Nap", het resultaat van een samenwerking met de Britse band Metronomy. Een betoverende elektro-pop track die disco elegantie en eigenzinnige pop mengt, en voortdurend het verlangen onderzoekt in het licht van het nachtleven.
Na twee bekroonde albums en uitgebreide wereldtournees zijn Polo & Pan klaar om het publiek opnieuw in vuur en vlam te zetten. Ze treden op tijdens Coachella op zondag 13 en 20 april, maar daarvoor beginnen ze hun Europese tournee met een uitverkochte show in La Madeleine in Brussel op 16 februari.
Over Polo & Pan
Polo & Pan, gevormd door Paul Armand-Delille (Polocorp) en Alexandre Grynszpan (Peter Pan), is ontstaan uit de ontmoeting van twee Parijse dj's in 2012 in de Baron, een beroemde Parijse bar-discotheek. Beiden met een gevarieerde achtergrond besloten ze hun krachten te bundelen om een uniek geluid te creëren.
In 2017 bracht hun veelgeprezen debuutalbum Caravelle hen op de internationale scène en bevestigde hun status als sleutelfiguren in de Franse touch. Het duo werd internationaal geprezen door media als The New Yorker, KCRW, 6 Music, Billboard, Le Monde, Dancing Astronaut en Flaunt. Ze hebben samengewerkt met artiesten als Channel Tres, Rémi Wolf, Red Axes en Acid Arab.
Na het succes van Caravelle zullen Polo & Pan in 2021 hun tweede album Cyclorama uitbrengen. De single Ani Kuni, een herinterpretatie van een Amerindiaans gebed, getuigt van hun sociaal engagement. Dit werd in 2023 gevolgd door hun EP Carrossel Do Tempo, die hun plaats in de wereldwijde elektroscene verstevigde, terwijl ze trouw bleven aan hun onnavolgbare stijl. Polo & Pan hebben wereldwijd meer dan 2 miljard streams verzameld. Hun muziek heeft ook grote merken aangetrokken zoals Apple, Hermès, Cartier, Chanel en Jacquemus.

Het Noorse psych-electro-rock duo Nonne brengt vandaag hun nieuwe single Lar dæ gå uit. Lar dæ gå is een nummer dat de Noord-Noorse singer/songwriter-traditie, acid house, breakbeats, soul en een concept van jezelf in een trance-toestand spelen versmelt. De band speelt dit weekend op ESNS in Groningen.
Gustav Eidsvik en Erlend Skotnes leerden elkaar kennen tijdens hun tienerjaren en werden al snel vrienden door samen in verschillende bands te spelen waaronder de hardcoreband Feskekrok en indierockband Great People, waar ze basgitaar en drums speelden. Terwijl ze samenwoonden in 2019 bedacht een van hen dat het spannend zou zijn om te zien hoe een band met z'n tweeën zou klinken en Nonne was geboren. Nadat ze eerst liedjes in het Engels hadden geschreven, viel alles pas op zijn plaats toen ze één van hun liedjes naar hun Noord-Noorse dialect vertaalden en in hun moedertaal begonnen te schrijven. Het avontuurlijke duo zingt polaire liefdesliedjes in een laidback stijl en heeft zichzelf inmiddels gevestigd als een van de meest opwindende acts van Noorwegen.
Hun debuutalbum Omf! (2023 - waar onder andere het nummer Ikke Normal op staat, zie video hieronder), gaf het duo vaart in hun thuisland en zorgde ervoor dat ze in hetzelfde jaar op enkele van de grootste festivals van Noorwegen speelden. Een week na de release van hun debuut gingen de jongens op pad om nieuwe muziek op te nemen in de kelder van een oud huis, diep op het Noord-Noorse platteland van Bø i Vesterålen. Lar dæ gå is het resultaat van die opnamesessie en betekend zoiets als 'Laat je gaan'. Het nummer ontstond nadat de band terug verhuisde naar hun geboorteplaats Tromsø, nadat ze drie jaar in de Noorse hoofdstad Oslo hadden gewoond. Weer thuiskomen betekende dat ze de demonen onder ogen moesten zien waarvoor ze waren weggelopen. "For us, it's about letting yourself and the people around you do their own thing. At the time of the recording, we were inspired by the concept of "rammeslått" from Norwegian folk music—a type of song that has an ecstatic or demonic character that would often spellbind the performer to a point where he/she could not stop playing until someone would cut the strings of the instrument." - aldus Gustav Eidsvik.
Nonne staat bekend om hun pulserende liveshows en strakke maar spontane optredens. Nemen zichzelf serieus, maar niet altijd. Nonne versmelt sexy grooves, repetitieve riffs, tropische percussie en pittige synths. Dit alles met mysterieuze, melancholische en hoopvolle melodieën erbovenop. De band is klaar om, na hun thuisland, met hun innovatieve, monotone, maar tegelijkertijd gevarieerde geluid de rest van de wereld te veroveren.

C Duncan maakt warme indie folk songs met een soms een uitstapje naar dreampop. Zijn vijfde album is sferisch, romantisch en oprecht - een warme deken in deze koude tijd.
Duncan vertelt zelf over het thema van zijn album: "I've been wanting to do a record that is unashamedly romantic and slightly old-timey. Quite a lot of my stuff has a hint of that, but this one is more kind of 1970s, with the string arrangements and a sort of warmth sprinkled on top. And whereas Alluvium had the space to meander off into its own areas, with this one I thought more about pace and how each song could go into the next one. There is more of a theme – it's a highly romantic record, which then goes from that into dealing with the loss of friends and relatives."

Mattan Records - C Duncan - It's Only A Love Song

Niet één, maar twee legendarische drummers staan straks op het podium van Fumprock. Het Diepenbeekse festival voor het goede doel kon Sloper strikken voor de 9de editie.
Sloper heeft een nieuwe zanger én een nieuwe plaat. Die komen ze beiden op zaterdag 15 februari voorstellen op Fumprock. De Limburgse zanger Jan Bas zal ons niet kwalijk nemen dat we geregeld ook eens achter hem kijken. Met Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring) en Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger) zitten er twee legendarische drummers achter zijn rug die er elke show een spektakel van maken.
Sympathieke baardmans Christophe Verholle won vorig jaar terecht The Voice van Vlaanderen. Maar de man heeft al veel langer een hart voor grungerock en een fantastische band achter zich staan. Voor de eerste keer speelt hij met Blain in Limburg.
Punkrockband Peter Pan Speedrock maakte in de jaren ’90 furore. Ondertussen heeft frontman Peter van Elderen de stonerrockband Tankzilla opgericht met zijn maatje Marcin Hurkmans. Het is een duo, maar ze klinken als een huis.
Ze zijn jong en ze hebben branie: rockband Barrel Smoke heeft pas een tweede plaat op de mensheid losgelaten. Recht door zee-rock’n roll uit het noorden van onze provincie die rechtstreeks naar de heupen mikt.
Twee bands zorgen voor de covers op Fumprock. Red Urban Funk Machine brengt een hommage aan de beste nummers uit de ‘90’s crossover-jaren met bands als de Peppers, Rage Against the Machine en Urban Dance Squad. Ze doen dat inclusief scratch-grage dj. Creep zorgt voor het orgelpunt van de avond met klassieke rockhymnes en zowat de beste rockzanger van Limburg.
Tickets kosten 18 euro en zijn te koop via de website www.fumprock.be . Er rijdt een gratis festivalbus van De Zigeuner voor en na Fumprock door Diepenbeek en Hasselt. Voor haltes check de site. Net zoals andere jaren gaat het belangrijkste deel van de winst naar Ambulancewens België. Sinds 2016 schonk Fumprock al 24.000 euro aan dit goede doel.

DE NIEUWE SINGLE "MOONSIDE" IS DE LAATSTE VOORBODE VAN HET NIEUWE ALBUM 'HELO'
Tijdens een tournee van twee jaar met internationale artiesten zoals Tamino, Meskerem Mees en Beirut verdiepte groepsbezieler Frederik Daelemans zich in persoonlijke thema's en ervaringen. Deze tijd en frisse input gebruikte hij om nieuwe muziek voor Cesar Quinn te maken. Muzikaal gezien zijn ze afgeweken van hun typische art-rock sound, weg van de indie en jazz invloeden die kenmerkend waren voor hun debuutalbum Opal. In plaats daarvan bevatten ze invloeden van hedendaagse hip-hop experimentalisten zoals The Alchemist en Armand Hammer, terwijl ze ook teruggrijpen naar de space jazz van Sun Ra en de ambient sonderingen van Terry Riley.
Op vrijdag 7 februari verschijnt met HELO de tweede langspeler van Cesar Quinn. De nieuwe single "MOONSIDE" is de laatste voorbode voor de release en is tevens ook het eerste nummer dat voor HELO geschreven werd.
"MOONSIDE" is een van de opvallendste nummers van HELO en pakt je meteen in door de combinatie van Daelemans stem en een intrigerend gitaarriedel, die geleidelijk aan door de achtergrondzang openbreekt richting een magisch refrein. Met deze track krijgen we nog eens een andere kant van Cesar Quinn te horen, eentje waar de mysterieuze en donkere waas even plaats maakt voor schimmen van licht. Net zoals de maan zelf, is "MOONSIDE" een bron van licht en inspiratie.

OVER CESAR QUINN
Cesar Quinn, een vierkoppige band uit Brussel onder leiding van Frederik Daelemans (Meskerem Mees, Tamino en Beirut), is een sonische kracht die zich moeilijk laat categoriseren. Hun muziek is het schemerige pad dat leidt door de schijnbaar tegenstrijdige invloeden van Armand Hammer's alt hip hop, Black Midi's experimentalisme en Sun Ra's space jazz. Aan de basis ligt een overheersende duisternis, die stedelijke onrust en existentiële overpeinzingen weerspiegelt, opgeheven door plotselinge momenten van helderheid en warmte. De band wordt voortgedreven door de cello en zang van Frederik, die naadloos overgaat van spoken word-achtige stoten naar emotionele uithalen.

The Yummy Mouths - 'Roam' met Bobbi Lu is de derde single uit The Yummy Mouths' aankomende debuutplaat 'Apopcalypse Park' (release 14/02). Eerder lieten de kempenzonen al de noise-banger 'Apocalypse Days (ft. STEVE)' en het hoekige 'AHA!' op de wereld los.
Het sublieme 'Roam' ademt melancholie, een gevoel dat versterkt wordt door de fluwelen stem van de Brits-Brugse producer Bobbi Lu (echte naam Lucy Ryan)

Klaas Leysen (bas/vocals) zegt het volgende over 'Roam': "Roam gaat over iemand die verdrinkt in zelfmedelijden. In plaats van zijn leven in handen te nemen, sluit het hoofdpersonage zich af van de buitenwereld. Hij kiest voor een kluizenaarsbestaan in een huis van porseleinen poppen. Hij fantaseert wel over opnieuw deel uitmaken van iets, maar hij weet nog niet of hij hiervoor de kracht heeft. De eenling die blijft steken op de rand van de realiteit en zijn eigen comfortabele droomwereld."
Met debuutplaat 'Apopcalypse Park' zet de Kempense band alles op zijn kop, door te muteren van een garagepunkband naar een gutsy collagepunk act. Het trio daagt zichzelf uit en verruilt de gitaren (grotendeels) voor synthesizers en drumcomputers, met de hulp van producer Pieter-Jan Decraene (Sam De Nef, Isaac Roux, Jack Vamp).
'Apopcalypse Park' is een dystopische fabel over de achtbaan van het volwassen leven, waarbij elk nummer een nog duisterder en harder universum voorstelt dan het vorige, en hoe de wereld - opwarmend, vechtend en hebzuchtig, een draaimolen is geworden waaruit geen ontsnappen mogelijk is.
'Apopcalypse Park' verschijnt op 14 februari 2025 via UhmYeahSure Records, op vinyl en op alle digitale kanalen.

Het Kempense trio The Yummy Mouths rijpt al enkele jaren als een van de zoetste vruchten uit de Belgische underground. De band verovert sinds 2019 zieltjes met hun razende en vrolijke garagepunk. The Yummy Mouths speelde al support slots in Ancienne Belgique, stond op de podia van We Are Open en Left of The Dial en kreeg airplay op Studio Brussel en Willy.
Na het uitbrengen van debuut-EP UGH! (2021) kreeg The Yummy Mouths nationale belangstelling met hun aanstekelijke gitaren en uitstekende songwriting. Jazz Cats: het nieuwe Kortrijkse jazzfestival georganiseerd door Wilde Westen, Muziekcentrum Track, Pand.A en Parkjazz lanceert een reeks Jazz Cats Club Shows en voorziet jazzliefhebbers van een flinke dosis jazz in een gezellig kader.
De Jazz Cats Club Shows willen zowel jong, beloftevol (inter)nationaal talent, als gevestigde waarden een podium geven. De visie blijft de Jazz Cats festivalvisie: programmeren zonder oogkleppen, met een hele ruime kijk op jazz als muziekgenre en een belofte die een gezonde mix van traditionele jazz en heel veel ruimte voor experiment garandeert.

Young curators
Wilde Westen startte een zoektocht naar 'Young Curators'. Jongeren tussen 18 en 26 jaar konden kandideren om een jaar lang hun ding te doen binnen onze programmatie. Uit een grote groep kandidaten selecteert Wilde Westen vijf mensen.
Ze krijgen tijdens het concertseizoen volledig carte blanche om enkele avonden naar hun voorkeur in te vullen. Zowel de programmatie, de communicatie als de productie van hun concertavonden ligt volledig in hun handen. Young Curators aan de macht, uiteraard met de hulp van Wilde Westen: die hen doorheen dit traject zal begeleiden met workshops en advies.

BOS! FESTIVAL: GROEN EN GEZELLIG IN BERGELEN
Voor de editie van BOS! festival strijken de concertorganisatoren van Wilde Westen weer neer in provinciedomein Bergelen in Gullegem, dé plek waar je veel genres kan ontdekken en dat in een bijzonder groene en gezellige sfeer.
Bergelen vormt het unieke decor van BOS! festival. BOS! omarmt dan ook met veel respect de fauna en flora van Bergelen, en maakt daarom groene keuzes. Zo wijst de organisatie wegwerpbekers af, worden de decibels wat lager gehouden en vind je enkel vegetarische en veganistische foodtrucks op het terrein.
“Met Wilde Westen houden we ervan om genres te laten blenden. Ook op BOS! gaat het alle kanten uit. Door de locatie en de rustige line-up is het een heel gezinsvriendelijk festival. Kinderen onder de 12 jaar mogen dan ook gratis naar BOS!

Wilde Westen wordt partner van nieuw Europees project 'Sounds Now'
Een nieuw samenwerkingsproject rond curatorschap en integratie in hedendaagse muziek en geluidskunst
Sounds Now is een grootschalig vierjarig Europees samenwerkingsproject, geleid door een consortium van muziekfestivals en productiehuizen, gericht op de verspreiding van hedendaagse muziek en cultuur. Het project is het resultaat van een jarenlange collectieve discussie en reflectie over onze rol als curatoren en de sociaal-politieke verantwoordelijkheden die dat met zich meebrengt.
Sounds Now richt zich op de manier waarop curatorschap steeds hervalt in dezelfde patronen van macht en uitsluiting op alle niveaus in onze samenleving. Het project draait rond het actief stimuleren van diversiteit binnen ons vakgebied. Op die manier wil Sounds Now een brede waaier aan ervaringen en perspectieven creëren die zowel de geluidskunst als hedendaagse muziek in de toekomst zullen definiëren.
Het project omvat een reeks acties, waaronder congressen, onderzoek, labs voor curatoren van buiten de new music wereld, mentorschapsprogramma's van curatoren, componisten en experts, producties met betrokken kunstenaars met vraagstukken als diversiteit, ...
Sounds Now wordt ondersteund door het Creative Europe-programma van de Europese Unie.

New [PIAS] Recordings signing Noonzy — the solo project of Antwerp-based musician Arnaud Stockbroekx — today announces details of his forthcoming EP Puppies released on March 28, 2025. Alongside the announcement comes second single Buffalo — the song strikes the perfect balance between emotional depth and dynamic arrangement.
Beginning in a subdued, contemplative tone before blooming into a richer, more hopeful soundscape the track is lyrically poignant and musically intricate. On the song Noonzy reflects: "Sometimes Godot just really isn't coming, so you might as well accept it and move on... I like to think the song somehow captures this transition from frustration to relief and empowerment."
Following his first offering Where/When, Buffalo further demonstrates the thoughtful craftsmanship behind the forthcoming EP Puppies, and offers a taste of its broader themes of self-discovery, vulnerability, and growth, while showcasing Noonzy's ability to balance introspection with an accessible, ear-catching melodic sensibility.
When Noonzy — Antwerp songwriter Arnaud Stockbroekx — first put on the shiny turquoise jumpsuit, something clicked. The garish outlandishness of the outfit was like a child's idea of what a rock star should look like: shimmering Lurex, Bowie-esque lightning bolt, shocking-pink fringing, Nehru collar. The strange contrast between this innocent pre-teen daydream and the brilliantly grotesque reality of a grown man recreating that dream exemplifies what Noonzy and his music is all about: at once wistful and playful, self-deprecating and extravagant, all undercut with an absurdist streak the Belgian Surrealists would approve of. Ceci n'est pas une rock star. This is not a rock star — this is a phantasmagorical reimagining of the rock star trope; a joyful, sugar-coated subversion of the hyper-masculine rock star cliché. Welcome to the Noonzyverse.
Driven by this never-say-die DIY ethic, Noonzy's numerous successes so far — De Nieuwe Lichting, European tours supporting his heroes, the backing of a major label — have all stemmed from him modestly gathering the courage to record these songs in a homemade analogue studio, a dream factory of his own making: proof that the Noonzyverse is aspirational to all. Op 27, 28 en 29 juni 2025 keert Paradise City Festival terug naar de idyllische tuinen van Kasteel Ribaucourt in Perk, Steenokkerzeel, voor een bijzonder tienjarig jubileum. Met zeven podia trok Paradise City vorig jaar een recordaantal van ruim 43.000 bezoekers. Daarnaast werd het festival bekroond als 's werelds meest duurzame muziekfestival op de prestigieuze A Greener Festival Awards.
Ondanks de groei blijft Paradise City trouw aan zijn kernwaarden: kwalitatieve muziek, innovatieve podiumproducties en een toonaangevende inzet voor duurzaamheid. Bij de start van de ticketverkoop vorige week vlogen alle campingtickets binnen 24 uur de deur uit. En in minder dan een week waren ook de zaterdag tickets uitverkocht - een vliegende start en een absoluut record voor Paradise City. Vandaag maakt de organisatie met trots het eerste deel van de line-up bekend.

Vorige week kondigde de organisatie al aan dat er deze zomer extra plaatsen op de affiche zijn gereserveerd voor legendarische veteranen uit de internationale dance scene. Voor de tiende verjaardag wil Paradise City namelijk de grondleggers van de elektronische muziek eren en tegelijk vooruit kijken door nieuw talent een podium te bieden. Het wordt een ontmoeting tussen generaties, vol energie en creativiteit.
Met Orbital (live), Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Tama Sumo & Lakuti, Theo Parrish en Freddy K zijn alvast de eerste pioniers bekend. Deze artiesten zullen iedereen laten zien waarom ze beschouwd worden als echte house, techno en dance iconen.
Ook de toekomstige generatie supersterren is van de partij. Met een closing set op de Castle Stage op vrijdag door Pegassi en op zaterdag door Odymel & EMILIJA, zet Paradise City Belgisch rave- en trance-talent in de grootste spotlights. Ook KI/KI, KETTAMA en Young Marco zijn niet te missen voor wie houdt van snelle en harde beats.
Met DESIREE, Kirollus, berlioz, Bibi Seck & FAISAL staat er een grote portie groovy house, disco en funk op het programma. Wie ooit al de internationale DJ-fenomenen Chris Stussy en Octo Octa & Eris Drew aan het werk zag, zal zeker niet ontbreken.
Tot slot is er de Concert Hall, één van de zes podia, gewijd aan live performances. Fans van psychedelische rock, zoals Khruangbin, kunnen zich verheugen op het Australische Glass Beams.

Coline Cornelis, DJ and a key member of the collective, will deliver an eclectic selection blending electronic sounds with an organic touch. Devon Rexi, the Amsterdam-based live band, promises a performance filled with dubby, playful, and alternative electronic vibes. Glitter55, a DJ and vocalist originally from Morocco, will bring her powerful mix of heavy techno and influences from the Arabic electronic music scene. Don't miss the (almost) live premiere of kaito kai—the exciting new duo formed by kaito winse and palmbomen II. Rounding out the lineup are the vibrant sets of brussels based crazy selectors Nikita and kiosk radio resident Yeye, the amazing Unos, while Yokocho makes a triumphant return with their live setup.

Seun Kuti is a Nigerian musician, singer, and songwriter renowned for his captivating performances and socially conscious music. He is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Seun has spent most of his life preserving and extending his father's political and musical legacy as the leader of his father's former band Egypt 80. As a developing saxophonist and percussionist, he entered the formal ranks of the band before he was 12. In 1997 when Fela passed, in fulfilment of his father's wishes, Seun assumed the mantle as head of Egypt 80 and he has run it ever since.
Based in Lagos, where with Egypt 80 he rehearses at Kalakuta Museum aka Fela Kuti’s former home in Allen Avenue, Seun has also made his mark as an active voice of the people and a politically conscious activist. He has been in the Nigerian scene, voicing out when he should, primarily via his pages on social media platforms. He was an active participant in two of the biggest mass unrests in Nigeria in recent times: #OccupyNigeria and #EndSARS protests. Significantly, he’s revived the Movement of the People (M.O.P.), the political party his father set up in 1979, which was quashed by the military government not long after Fela’s failed presidential bid.
During his career, Seun Kuti released 4 albums with Egypt 80: ‘Many Things’ (2008), ‘From Africa with Fury: Rise for Knitting Factory Records’ (2011), coproduced by Brian Eno and John Reynolds, ‘A Long Way Beginning’ (2014) and the Grammy nominated ‘Black Times’ (2018) that included a feature from Carlos Santana. They also released numerous EPs. Seun has played for enthusiastically receptive audiences globally and collaborated with many great artists. In 2022, he joined forces with Roots frontman and MC extraordinaire Black Thought in the EP ‘African Dreams’. In 2023, Seun collaborated on Janelle Monae's ‘The Age of Pleasure’ (Grammy nominee for Album Of The Year) with the two singles 'Float' and 'Knows Better', teamed up with Talib Kweli and MadLib for their album ‘Liberation 2’ on the song ‘Nat Turner’ featuring Cassper Nyovest and released a new version of the single ‘Bad Man Lighter’ with Black Thought, featuring Vic Mensa.
Herman Dewit ontvangt Lifetime Achievement Award tijdens de Flanders Folk Awards 2025
Dit jaar wordt folkicoon Herman Dewit geëerd met de prestigieuze Lifetime Achievement Award tijdens de Flanders Folk Awards 2025, als erkenning voor zijn uitzonderlijke bijdragen aan de scene.
Herman Dewit (78, Pajottegem) is een pionier in de Vlaamse volksmuziek en speelde een sleutelrol in de erkenning van folk in het deeltijds kunstonderwijs. Zijn veelzijdigheid als muzikant, instrumentenbouwer en cultureel ambassadeur heeft een blijvende impact en blijft generaties inspireren. Voor het Flanders Folk Network was het vanzelfsprekend om hem te eren met een award voor zijn indrukwekkende carrière.
De awardshow vindt plaats bij de start van de Week van de Belgische Muziek, op maandag 27 januari in de AB. Naast de Lifetime Achievement Award worden prijzen uitgereikt in de categorieën Beste Live Band, Beste Album en Horizon, die vernieuwende projecten en beloftevolle bands in de schijnwerpers zet.

‘Not All Is In Vain’ is een van de standout tracks van het nieuwe album ‘Core Memory’, dat op 7 maart verschijnt. Oppermarble Pieter Van Dessel gooit alles in de strijd met energieke drumbeats in een orgie van synths. Het resultaat is een heerlijke synthwave-/retrowave-vibe, weelderig en brééd als DAAN, M83 of de Daft Punk van Discovery (nooit gedacht dat we 'Daft Punk' zouden schrijven in een promo-tekstje voor Marble Sounds). Hoewel het nummer opgewekt klinkt, bevat de tekst een tongue-in-cheek/cynische en - helaas - actuele boodschap: lachend koersen we recht op ons eigen einde af, terwijl we zorgeloos verdergaan zonder om te kijken.
Met vorige singles Give Or Take A Few en If You Would Prove Me Wrong Now (#5 in ‘De Verrukkelijke 15’ op NPO Radio 2) bewezen Marble Sounds opnieuw dat ze terecht tot het kruim van de muziekscene in de Lage Landen behoren. Lawijtstrijd - Lawijtstrijd - Muziekconcours Waasland
LAWIJSTRIJD, het legendarische muziekconcours van het Waasland is terug in een samenwerkingsverband van De Casino Concertzaal, Lokerse Feesten, Crammerock en jeugdhuizen Den Eglantier (De Nest), De Cramme en Okapi. De wedstrijd wordt ondersteund door Cultuurtuin Waas (Interwaas) en de stads- en gemeentebesturen van Lokeren, Sint- Niklaas en Stekene. (zie info site )
AFTRAP: Drie spots worden vrijgehouden voor jonge talenten uit de buurt die hun kans willen wagen om op één van onze podia te spelen die dag. Zij ontvangen naast podiumervaring en eeuwige roem ook catering en drankbonnen voor een dolle avond. Concreet zijn we op zoek naar allround dj’s, maar ook dj’s en live acts uit de hardere en experimentele elektronische genres zijn welkom met hun inzendingen.
GREAT GIGS IN THE PARK Tien extraordinaire concertavonden De Casino Concertzaal en het stadsbestuur Sint-Niklaas presenteren een derde editie van Great Gigs in the Park. Deze reeks openluchtconcerten, die plaatsvinden in de feeërieke setting van het historische Casino Park (DC terras), wordt dit jaar gespreid over drie weken (van woensdag 14 juni tot donderdag 6 juli) en bundelt in die periode tien extraordinaire openluchtshows op de Casino[1]kiosk. Gezelligheid is het codewoord tijdens Great Gigs in the Park, want voor elk concertavonden worden slechts 600 tickets aangeboden. Programma De line-up van Great Gigs in the Park biedt een staalkaart van waar de Casino voor staat, zijnde een veelheid aan uiteenlopende muziekgenres: van hardrock en post-metal over elektrofunk en groove tot roots en droompop. De Casino presenteert ook elke concertavond een uitgekiende support-act: laureaten van Lawijtstrijd, speerpunten uit de Brusselse elektrojazz-hype, punk-calamiteiten, een crossover tussen doom en oriëntal, maar ook western swing-adepten en singer-songwriters.
